<center>1. No spamming! I don't really think there has ever been a problem with people spamming in diaries, but I just thought I would post this up here just in case.
2. Do not PM me concerning how I acquired this pet. If you want one of your own, just click on the Headquarters links that can be found in the introductory post as well as in my own links section.
3. I do not take bribes. In other words, if you want a Zephirae Angel of your own, do not try and offer me all the riches of Gaia to get an offspring coming from my pets, unless otherwise indicated by myself.
4. No stealing. If I discover that this pet has been abducted and claimed as someone else's, I will alert Kinari immediately. And then the appropriate moderator.
5. Do not copy my pet or my story. When I say don't copy my pet, what I mean is, if you purchase your own Zephirae Angel, I would appreciate it if you didn't rip off my storyline for this pet. I took a lot of time creating a background for all of my characters. Don't disrespect me like that please. And don't steal my character background or profile for any other pet either.

<center>A Taste of Things to Come
I have decided on a few of the powers that Yurimi will develop, and I am going to list them here to give people a taste of what is on its way. Also, I don't want to step on anyone's toes and double up on skills.
-Ability to absorb the knowledge of a book by touching it- At first, she will have to keep contact with the book to understand it all, but as she grows older, she will be able to look at a book or piece of paper or something and know what is on it. The knowledge does not last very long, but the harder she works at it, the longer it will. If she tries to do this too much, a severe migraine will run over her and a seizure is possible.
-Projection of Characters into Real Life- Due to her tendency to get exceedingly lonely, Yurimi is going to develop the ability to project holographic images of characters from her books into real life to play with her. At first, it will just be a little creepy as she brings monsters to life sometimes too. The real issue will come when she gets so strong that these beings actually materialize, gaining tangibility. In other words, they can touch, hit, smash, and other wise, mess up our world. She will do this accidentally at times of high emotional stress.
-Fluency in Japanese- This one is fairly self-explanatory. She is naturally bilingual in both Japanese and English due to her past life. The reason that her Japanese emerged before her English was to provide a gateway to her previous existence for Yurimi and also Akina.
-Wind and Storm Capabilities- In her previous life, Yurimi was murdered in a case of mistaken identity. The angels, seeing this, decided that since she had already died for resembling an immortal, she might as well receive those powers which she died for in her new life. Yuri's largest talent is with the winds, as the woman who she resembled was the Keeper of Winds. When angry, she can stir them up, conjuring tornadoes and such in her wake. She will also be able to levitate herself with the wind, giving her greater power of flight. At great times of emotional pain or stress, she will sometimes accidentally affect weather. This will only happen sparingly, very sparingly.
These are all the abilities I have planned thus far, and I think it is more than enough. Each of these has its own set of disadvantages, excluding her fluency in Japanese, so her use of the powers is limited. The only time she will have complete control over them would be if she ascended to be a Seraph.

Infant: Yurimi is a bright-eyed and inquisitive child who is just as content to be held as she is to explore. At this young age, she is one big white ball of fluff with some wings and buck teeth attached, and it seems as though the word 'precious' would be fitting here. Slowly, hints as to her future personality and powers will be revealed, but she is still just a little baby whose main focus in life is sleeping and eating. And to think, I said I would never be a mother.</center>

<center>Character Profile</center>
<center>Name: Yurimi Tokuwa. Yurimi means 'beautiful lily' in Japanese, and Tokuwa means 'virtuous harmony'.
Weight: Well, I tried to set her on the scale at home, but she kept wiggling about so I can't really be too sure. It looked like the average was about seven or eight pounds, a decent size to match her height.
Height: She seems to fit nicely in the crook of my arm, but if I had to guess her numerical height, I'd say she's about nineteen inches long. So, she's about average I think... maybe a little on the petite side.
Race: From what I have learned so far, she's some type of angel. I'm afraid I am still not entirely clear on what that entails, but I also recognize certain squirrel traits in her. But the fae wings and headwings give her a different feel. In short, I can only surmise that she is some amazing variation of a flying squirrel, as ridiculous as that sounds.
Powers: I have not had the chance to discover any. I mean, I'm wrist deep in diapers and baby bottles. It's a little overpowering.
Eyes: Yurimi's eyes are very bright and inquisitive, twinkling in the darkest of places. In fact, they seem to possess an inhuman glow. (Well, I guess that makes sense since she is supposedly an angel, but it is still a little bit unsettling.) The color is a pristine teal that is reminiscient of the clearest water at the mouth of a spring or perhaps one of the purest aquamarine gems in existence. Acting as a kind of decoration, Yurimi has twin sets of thick, dark lashes for each eye that curl upwards, giving her a very innocent and feminine stare. Her eyes are outlined in a natural black color that takes on the appearance of eyeliner, but it is still very light and noticed only by the most perceptive individuals. Generally, she remains wide-eyed, blinking curiously at passerbys, but when angry, her scowl becomes fierce and mysterious, unnverving some of the tougher souls of the world.
Hair: Yurimi has jet black hair with indigo undertones that provides a definite contrast with her body fur. It has a nice texture, but it is a little stiff, allowing for no frizz or bumps. In fact, it seems as though her hair is very heavy, but only slightly thicker than average so that it hangs smoothly against her head. Do to her own preference, Yuri wears her hair in pigtails and differing buns and braids, though at this age it is more of Akina's decision than her own. Still, the child seems to really love the style and is keen to cooperate when her mother is feeling creative.
Body: Being a petite child, much of Yuri's body is swallowed up by her thick white fur. In fact, she's more of a giant ball of fluff with an equally bushy tail attached than anything else. She seems to be fairly proportionate though, and I find myself constantly massaging her long pointed it. In fact, they sort of remind me of a furry version of my own ears. Her tiny feet and hands have short little claws on them, and I seem to forget about them at times as evident by the myriad of scratches all over my arms and chest.
Personality: Quirky is an understatement when describing Yurimi. One moment, she is sleeping peacefully, and the next, she is covered head to toe in flour, making baking good angels on the floor. And each time Akina thinks she has her under control, the child just does something else to force a double take upon the worrying guardian. Even at an early age, it is obvious that Yuri is a bright child due to her immense curiousity and love of all things educational. Once she gains the ability to speak, her personality will only become all the more apparent.

<center>Meet the Family</center>
<center>
Akina Tokuwa is Yurimi's official guardian though the angel has a plethora of 'guardians' that watch over her. Like her new angel child, the young elf woman has led a very complicated life.
Akina grew up in a land separate from Gaia where she lived under a Council of Elders who passed judgment over all of the citizens of their clan daily. One could not breathe without them knowing.
Yet, Akina mystified them. Ever since she was a child, she had been able to escape into the forests away from the eyes of the Council to meditate and perfect her herbology and healing skills, practicing on wild animals.
Before long, she was a teenager by elven standards, and the young elf began realizing that life with the Council was not a healthy. Everyday, she watched injustices fall before her very eyes, people punished for being different and having independent thoughts.
Then came the day that changed her life forever.
Akina was returning from one of her walks in the woods late at night, when she stumbled upon a gathering of people at the edge of town. Peering through the dark, she was able to make out the figures of the five tall elders... but something was wrong.
Lying at their feet, there were two townspeople, one male and one female. Akina identified the girl as her next-door neighbor, a quiet elf who had seemed nice enough, always taking care of her grandmother without complaint.
Furrowing her brow, Akina slinked closer so that she could hear, silent against the whispering wind. What is this?
Abruptly, the far left Elder pulled up the male to his knees, leaning down and speaking to him. "We cannot let your impurity ruin our town," he spat, hate pouring forth from his lips. In one fluid movement, his arm flashed out, slitting the man's neck so that the silver blood sprinkled across the ground. A stifled yelp tore from the body of the girl as she witnessed his death.
Akina was upon them before she knew what was happening. Her feet touched down on the ground for only a brief instant as she scooped up the girl, equal to her weight, in her arms and darted off into the forest. She had to save her.
The Council's curses could be heard on the air as they came chasing after her, gaining on her at an alarming rate. She knew that they would be upon her in a matter of moments, but there was not a single fiber of her being that would let her stop running.
The shining glass surface of the lake was visible a few feet in the distance. The Council was at her heels.
Closing her eyes, Akina maintained her pace, closing her eyes and praying for a miracle. She didn't even notice she was flying until she heard the voices of the Council go silent with awe. It was then that the fiery pain ripped through her, causing her to plummet back into the lake.
Falling in a downward spiral, her eyes caught a glimpse of twin gossamer wings, sprouting from her own back. They reflected the moonlight with an iridescent glimmer, blood slowly trickling down their surface.
The impact from hitting the water knocked her out and killed the girl she carried in her arms instantly. All her efforts were in vain.
By the time the Council fished her body from the water, the wings had disappeared, but they were sure of what they had seen. The two scars on her shoulder blades served to verify their suspicions.
When she awoke, it was several weeks later, and her body was chained to a bed in a low dungeon. The Council tortured her endlessly, attempting to discover the source to her wings, but she claimed to know nothing.
So they went after her mother. She only lasted a few moments, finally admitting that she was part fae on her own mother's side. They killed her after pulling all the information they could from her before Akina's eyes.
Turning their attention to Akina, the young elf made a decision. She had to survive.
Pleading for her life, she pledged her allegiance to the Council, offering to join their secret service and carry out missions for them. At first, they resisted, choosing to place her in a training program where they aimed to brainwash her into being an obedient servant. All the while, she played along, until the Council finally decided she was trustworthy many years later.
Each mission they sent her on, she would find some way to make it look like she had murdered their target, while actually sneaking them away to live with another clan of elves who would protect them.
But she was just waiting for a chance to make her escape. And, one day, she found it.
Akina was given a top secret mission to cross the dimensional border into a land called Gaia where she would have to gather samples of their magic to bring back to her clan for further study. It would be a long term assignment. They wanted to know what creatures resided there, and she was ordered to collect magical children as well.
The day she stepped through the border she pledged only to return if this "Gaia" was worse than her own clan.
It was very difficult for Akina to get work initially as she barely spoke English so she had to settle for working as a maid in the house of a very rich family. The lady of the house gave her English lessons once a week as well as a house at the very back of her property.
Before long, Akina was a functioning member of society, speaking English as well as most natives. Over time, other stranded elves in Gaia could find sanctuary in her home, as well as a legion of magical children and pets.
Back in her own dimension, the Council has grown anger due to her lack of communication so they have begun to send assassins to apprehend her and take her back to their land.

Naraka is a very close friend of Akina's, and she is also Anarriima's mother. She acts as an aunt to Yurimi just as Akina does to her own daughter.
Naraka is also an elf from Akina's dimension, and her clan was allied with Akina's own as well. They shared the same ignorance and cruelty that the Council forced upon Akina's people. And it was that very same closed-mindedness that almost stole the lives of Naraka and her unborn child.
Naraka eventually worked as a chef in her village, preparing most of the meals for the great banquets and celebrations. She loved her job and cooking brought her great pleasure, but it had not been her choice in life. A few years ago when she had just matured, Naraka heard a knock at her door and a small package was left on her doorstep.
Perturbed, Naraka brought it inside, setting it on a table to look at its contents. There was an all grey uniform, a badge, and a letter. Cocking her head to the side, she opened the note, reading its contents.
Tears filled her eyes as she processed the information. Her profession had been selected for her (a chef), and she would be leaving her home in a day's time to go to a training academy for a year. Attempting to run was not an option.
The next day, a carriage pulled up to her house, and she was shuffled outside to be taken to an unknown location for her schooling. The Academy, as it was called, was not a hostile place... as long as you did what you were told.
Naraka did not fight her superiors though because she truly loved cooking and enjoyed learning all she could. Her professors gave her stunning marks, reccommending that she be released early to return home.
It was at this point that she saw him, the man who would change her life forever. He was a servant at The Academy, an elf whose clan had been defeated by her own. His skin was a dark brown, and he towered above her as she passed him in the halls. There were a few times when she had actually met eyes with him, and those deep mahogany eyes drew her in, filling her head with nothingness.
Naraka was desperate to learn his name, and one day, she heard a fellow student call him over to take her lunch plate. He was called Aeldeth. It meant Eternal Knight in her language, and in that moment, he captured her heart without a word. She knew that she had to speak with him.
It was easy to arrange a meeting as Naraka was the most talented and trusted student, and the overseers assumed that she had conformed completely to their standards. So each night a week, she would summon Aeldeth to her room to "re-educate" his heathen mind. Naraka was regarded as a saint, and her name was mentioned as a possible clan leader in the future.
These meetings between Naraka and Aeldeth continued on for the next six months, and as they grew closer, she began to request more and more sessions with him a week. The last week of her stay in The Academy, Naraka made a bold move. She requested that Aeldeth return back to her village with her to act as her personal servant since she had invested so much time into him.
This was very suspicious, but the superiors allowed it, ordering a small group of spies to follow her and see what she was up to. She had only been living in her small cottage with Aeldeth for three week before the Elven Guard arrived at her door in the middle of the night. They had discovered her secret: she and Aeldeth were lovers.
Aeldeth jumped out in front of the woman he loved, blocking her form with his arms. "You will not touch my family!" he screamed, eyes red with anger.
The men looked to eachother. Family? The captain of the division took a step forward, scowling. "So this whore is pregnant then?" Aeldeth lunged forward, knocking six men down and thrashing a few others about.
The soldiers fell upon him, slicing his flesh and scarring his body, but his muscles burned with anger and the dire need to protect the ones he loved pushed him forward, slowly defeating the band of fighters. Naraka had cowered in the corner, cradling her stomach, but as the last man fell, she sprang to her feet, grabbing her husband's hand and running out the door.
They made it to the edge of the woods before the secret guard surrounded them. A hooded figure stepped forward, pointing a pale figure at Naraka. "Woman," it said, voice slithering and sliding through her ears. "This child you carry is an abomination. It's mere existence taints our society, as does this beast of a man you have mistaken for an intelligent being. Naraka, child, you have been brainwashed by his foreign words, and we will not destroy you for it. Your services are much appreciated in the community." Naraka still clung to her husband's side, feeling weak and helpless. They only wanted her because she could cook well? "So... you may return to us, dear. And we will have a small ceremony to cleanse your body of the filth."
At his final words, Naraka came back to her senses. "Filth?" she said, shaking her head. "My child is filth? Do you really think I'm going to agree to letting you murder my baby and husband!?!? NEVER!" Reaching to her belt, the elf threw a sack of flour on the ground before her, providing a distraction for their escape.
There was only one way out: the portal that had been discovered in the woods to the west. As they approached it, Aeldeth embraced his wife, kissing her passionately. He swore that he would lead them in the wrong direction, and then doubleback to meet her in this new land. Laying a hand on her stomach, he whispered sweet words to his unborn child, calling it his precious star.
With that, his strong hands guided his family through the portal, and he took off into the night. The foreign elf only got a mile away before he was shot in the back with an arrow, piercing his heart and snuffing out his life.
Naraka waited for two weeks before the portal opening, too scared to leave the spot and venture out on her own. Unfortunately, the pangs of hunger began to be too much, and she knew she had to eat for the sake of her child. It would be two weeks before Akina would stumble upon Naraka passed out in the orchard behind her small home.
Taking her within, Akina would nurse her back to health, help deliver her baby, and pledge to let them stay in her house as long as they needed. These were the beginnings of the makeshift family created in Gaia for struggling elves with Akina starting it all and Naraka helping where she could.

Calliope Lore is much younger than Naraka and Akina and is treated more like an older daughter than anything else. She arrived at the Tokuwa Home two years after Naraka had stumbled over the fence and into the herb garden out back. But Calliope did not come on... friendly terms.
Growing up in the same clan as Akina, Calliope had heard whispers of a young elf who was able to evade the omnipontent eyes of the Council, but that fact never really drew too much of her attention. After all, she was the daughter of a prominent doctor, and everything she desired became hers.
As she grew towards maturity, Calliope began to learn all the skills that were necessary to attract a big strong man to take care of her for the rest of her life: sowing, cooking, singing, child care. Her entire existence was based around her reputation, but all the while, she had no idea of what was to become of her the day she reached maturity.
Unknown to Calliope, her father was hiding a dark secret from his eldest daughter, a secret that would shatter all of her hopes of living happily ever after. For reasons that remain hidden to this day, her father was in debt to the Council, and in exchange for his freedom and a high paying career in the village, he had agreed to give his first born to them as repayment on its first day of maturity.
When that day came, the sun was beginning to set, and the quiet little elf was sitting on her back porch overlooking the pond behind her lavish home. It would be the last time she would see her house. A group of men in dark cloaks came to her then, explaining that she was their property now. As she had been bred to be completely agreeable and submissive, Calliope went away with them without a word, though a hateful stone began to from in her stomach at her father's treachery.
Still, her fate with the Council was not nearly as severe as most others faced. She faced two sentences; firstly, she had to complete whatever tasks or missions they told her too; secondly, her hand in marriage was promised to the son of one of the High Elders.
After a few months, Callie had actually begun to find some enjoyment in her life, and the High Elder's son was not as horrible as he could have been. Plus, her skills as a diplomat made her a crucial spy in that she could infiltrate the most selective of courts with her innocent looks and silver tongue.
Still very much a child, she did not see the danger in helping the Council out... until one night when it was brought to her attention that her covert skills had helped the Elders eliminate an enemy. Because of her, someone was dead. The idea hit Calliope hard, and she felt very lost.
Sensing her pain, the Council suggested that she take a... less deadly assignment. Her task was to travel to Gaia and discover the whereabouts of an AWOL agent. If necessary, she would need to infiltrate the home of this person and send all the crucial information back to the Elders. Blinded by her despondency, Calliope agreed, thinking this would be a simple mission that would help her decide if what she was doing was the right thing with her life.
Her first encounter with Akina only served to confuse her more. The older elf told her that she did not have to stay with the Council, and that she could leave them if she was strong enough. But Calliope was torn. She did not know what to do. One half of her screamed that Akina was right and the Council was evil, but she had been on the good side of the Elders so she did not quite see all of the horrors they inflicted upon their people daily.
But inside, Calliope was still very unsure of who her alliance was with: the Elders or Akina and her family? Having grown very passive over the years, she came to the only conclusion she could. For the time being, she would have to play both sides. She would tell the Council as little as she could while enjoying her free lifestyle living with Akina. Once she grew into an adult, a more definite solution could be decided, but her teenage mind was not ready for such a heavy responsibility. This was a temporary solution.
She just couldn't see the danger in her actions. What would it hurt if she told the Council the languages that were spoken here? Why did it matter if they knew there was an ice cream shop a mile from her new home? And she honestly felt like Akina, Naraka, and Anarriima were her family. But her youth clouded her eyes... she had become an intelligent, soft-spoken woman with a common problem. She could not make up her mind. And though the repercussions of her actions are not evident so far, they will eventually come to light as all secrets do.
Until then, she is living happily in Gaia, learning all she can and helping to take care of the children of the house. Calliope is a truly geniune person despite her nasty habit of being drawn to wealth and luxury, and though she might not realize it, Akina and Naraka are raising her to be an upstanding creature. She just needs to learn to believe in herself as her loved ones do. For now, there is peace, but danger lurks on the horizon.

Calliope the Mare was given her name by Anarriima after the young child learned the name of Aunt Akina's elvish apprentice. It is a bit of a 'family' joke that both the horse and the young woman share the same name. Ana claims that she can speak to the horse, a claim that is dismissed by the adults, but little do they know how right the child is. Calliope is actually an Equu, a soul that was transformed into a horse-like creature.
Still, Callie is content to live with Akina and her friends as she gets plenty of food and has a giant field in which she can roam. And when she grows weary of that property, her wings can carry her away to where ever she wants. The longest she has ever been gone for was two weeks, and when she returned, she was badly bruised and sweating profusely. Akina nursed her back to health and commanded that she not leave the proximity of the house unless she let someone know next time.
Her Equu powers allow her to do forms of astral projection and telekinesis, something that Yurimi has already picked up on as an early child though she is not sure what that means exactly. She's still just a baby, and Calliope the Mare is still young as well.

Cordelia is a reborn soul, just as Yurimi is, but she is a much darker character. Originally, she was a murderous saloon girl living in Western America in the time of cowboys and indians, but now, she is a Lunaria, a soul who was chosen to carry on a lost and dying race.
By nature, Cordelia is, well, fairly evil, but her loyalty runs so deep for those who have helped her that it sometimes overrides her true nature. It is for that reason that she is tolerant of Akina and her family due to the fact that Akina helped her out of a sticky situation involving the police and her attack on an amateur mugger.
Sly, seductive, and skilled, she is a finely-tuned killing machine who takes a kind of sick pleasure in the hunt. And her weapon of choice? A deep red-brown whip that she can snuff the flame of a candle with in one fluid motion. In fact, Cordelia and Akina are kind of allies, knowing that they can call upon each other if necessary. Akina hopes to be a positive influence on the girl, but so far, she hasn't shown any signs of developing any great mercy.
An ally of the family, she is welcome in the house, but is rarely invited over. Frankly, Akina does not want her to have any influence on Yurimi or Anarriima. More information on Cordelia and her history can be found here.

Cathshee is an elvish name that means 'fairy cat', a fitting title for such a creature. Like Calliope the Mare, she got her name from Anarriima who had heard Akina and Naraka refer to the creature with this term. Taking a liking to the sound of it, the family has simply adopted it as the animal's name.
This little kitty came to Tokuwa Cottage a few weeks before Yurimi herself arrived, but ever since she smelled the angel child, the two have been inseparable. Cathshee is almost a familiar of sorts to Yurimi, and it seems to really be a positive thing. It's nice to have yet another pair of eyes watching out for the little squirrel girl.</center>

: Hala is a little moth angel whom Yurimi met on the camping trip. He crawled up to her in polite greeting, and she tried to eat his antennae. Still, things were made well when the two angels exchanged gifts. Yuri gave him a daisy, and he gave her a used bandaid.
: Cyran is a tri-tailed angel whom Yurimi was quite curious about when they met on the camping trip due to his knowledge of the Japanese language. Akina thought that the words Yurimi had been mumbling was just gibberish, but Cyran identified it as Japanese, opening a new door to Yuri's past. Yurimi is very fond of him for that exact reason. Plus, his tails are awesome.

August 23rd, 2004: Yurimi has begun to look for Akina when she is not in the room, signifying the fact that she knows who her mother is and misses her when she is away. She seems to fit in quite nicely with the family as well.
August 26th, 2004: Discovering how to crawl quickly, Yuri is constantly on the move, rolling about as much as possible. She is incredibly curious about everything and seems exceptionally intelligent... even mommy's dry herb stores.
August 30th, 2004: Yuri isn't walking yet, but she seems to be developing in every other facet quite nicely. Akina cannot wait until she is properly potty trained.
August 31st, 2004: Naraka tried to give Yurimi a bath, but the child would not have it. She seemed so frightened that Akina decided she could take a bath with a wash cloth for now.
September 1st, 2004: Akina finds the Zephirae Headquarters, but chooses not to enter at this point. She wants to spend more time bonding with Yurimi before making this decision.
September 4th, 2004: Akina sees that there will be a Zephirae camping trip and decides it will be the perfect opportunity to take Yurimi to meet the other angels like her.
September 5th, 2004: The camping trip begins.</center>

<center>Gifts & Possessions

After I received Yurimi, I thought it would be a good idea to get her registered at a nearby doctor's office just in case she ever received an injury while I was out of the house and therefore unable to heal her. So, I suppose you could say this was a little 'gift' from the hospital.

I purchased this rabbit plush in town in an effort to encourage Yurimi to chew on nice, soft things... and not my belongings. I chose not to name it, but Yurimi was kind enough to dub it "MINE!"

Kinari and Penelope were kind enough to bestow this trinket upon my little girl. The gemstones on it remind me so much of Yurimi's eyes and the pristine clarity of the spring that I discovered her in. Still, as the letter said, it is far too large for her now... I think I will save this for a special occasion when she is much older.</center>

[This is where artwork and writing created by Yurimi will go as well as any fanart or dolls. I might even buy little things and claim she created them to put here as well.]</center>

First Story

This floor is where most of the activity in the house goes on, namely the kitchen and the bedrooms. Due to my limitation as an artist, the rooms are slightly out of proportion, and the house looks much, much bigger than it is. All of the rooms are fairly small, and due to the increase of people living there, Akina has been forced to add on to the second story upstairs so there would be enough room for all the people and their belongings as well.
Second Story

This floor is where the secret stairwell is revealed that goes from Akina's room to Yurimi's room upstairs. In her infant stages, the young Angel will sleep with Akina downstairs, but there is plenty of room for her to grow up on the second floor once she is old enough. Again, this floor is GROSSLY out of proportion to what it actually is. It's actually wider than the second story, but the effect should be the same. This floor is where the study and balcony is as well as the large room where future rooms are likely to be added. For now, it is simply dubbed the activity room where the entire family can go to relax or hang out.</center>

Welcome Home
"Tokuwa," repeated the hostile voice with a sigh as it spilled from the lips of a young woman sitting in her car. She had been leaning forward towards an intercom attached to the side wall of the massive gates that encircled the estate that lay before her, speaking into it. She cursed in a foreign language, running her hands through her hair and resting her head on the steering wheel.
After a few moments, a mechanical voice chimed in, "Voice signature not recognized. Please try again." The way it delivered its words so emotionlessly only served to further anger the girl who was now tearing at her hair. Fed up, she slammed her fist down on the horn, muting the long string of foreign obscenities that she was screaming.
Taking a moment to catch her breath, she fished around in her purse, producing a battered cellphone, probably another casualty of her temper. Flipping open the cover, she dialed a number into the keypad, clearing her throat while it rang. A voice clicked on at the other end, and it was all the girl could do not to explode.
"Jeffrey," she began slowly, picking her words carefully and giving herself ample time for each syllable. "The front gate is on the fritz again." In the background, the voice on the other end murmured back to her. "No," she replied. "No, no, don't come out here. It's fine. Don't trouble yourself. I'll find a way in." Again, the other voice spoke, sounding slightly concerned. "Oh, me? No, I'm fine. I'm just a little stressed. You know the horrors of job and all." The other voice laughed and then bid her goodbye, probably promising to have it fixed as soon as possible.
Hanging up, she threw the phone back into her purse and moved her car in to reverse, backing away from the black iron gates. Glancing over her shoulder, she manuvered it into the grass along the left wall where it would be out of the way for visitors of the Manor.
She stepped out of the car, shutting the door and grabbing her purse and a bag of groceries from the back seat. After checking four times that there was no possible way for someone to steal it, the girl left her car, walking along the wall until she reached an area that had been overgrown with vines. In one great leap, she scaled the wall, surpassing its surface effortlessly and landing on a high branch of an oak tree within the estate. It was then that the wind blew through her hair, scattering its pieces and revealing twin pointed ears.
She was an elf.
It was three-fourths of a mile before the Manor came into view, but the elf took it all in stride, balancing her groceries and purse with ease. Coming through the final patch of scattered greenery, her eyes could see the entire Manor in full view, nestled in the midst of this wooded paradise. A satisfied smile crawled to her lips as she hopped to the pathway that led straight to the front door.
The house was perfect from its evenly-laid white brick exterior to the columns that supported the second and third story. The bay windows were massive, but silk curtains drawn on the inside protected the privacy of those within the structure. There was a tower-like addition on the left side that was reminiscent of old fairy tales, and an assortment of hand selected vegetation gave it a polished look. As she neared it, the ornate decorations etched into the brick became visible, vines and flowers perpetually winding about each other.
Hanging a sharp left, the elf girl moved away from the large white palace, following the path along the back of the house until it ended, becoming a dirt road instead. Here the trees were not hand selected, but grew like wild fire, blocking out the sky in some parts. It was in this area that the elf lived in a tiny cottage, a mere ant to the Manor.
Her home was small and meant to house only a few people with its cramped quarters, but it seemed lavish to the elf in that it possessed a second floor with an extra room and balcony that were used for storage. The whole building had an old feel to it. The white painted wood had turned gray and molded from years of neglect, and the vines here were not artwork etched into brick but actual plants that had almost overgrown the entire face of the home. But it was just that. Home.
Following the smoothed rocks that acted as a pathway to the steps, the girl hopped up to her tiny front porch, fishing in her pocket for the key and letting the door swing open with a soft thud. "I'm home!" she called out to her housemates, setting the groceries and purse down on the kitchen table. A sigh slipped out of her lips at the stack of dishes in the sink as she roundered the corner towards the phone.
Her answering machine was flashing, and the number two was illuminated in red light. Slipping out of a black jacket, she revealed her uniform, a knee-length black dress with a white apron and collar. On the breast pocket of the ensemble, there was a rectangular name tag that had the name "Akina Tokuwa" scrawled out in looping calligraphy, and under that, it read "Head Maid" in similar writing.
The thunder of steps came clamoring down the stairs as Akina collapsed on the couch, kicking off her shoes. "I feel so old," she lamented to herself, settling in for a light nap.
Up the stairs, Anarriima and Calliope were playing chase while Naraka studied the English language in her bedroom. The dull hum of life could be felt outside the cottage as well where the horse and cat were grazing together. And even further up in the heavens, the sun began to droop down, sinking past the horizon and into night.

<center>Credits
The original idea for the Zephirae Angels and all the original artwork and tags for Yurimi were lovingly created by the capable hands and mind of Kinari. All praise and encomiums can be directed to her, but not by way of PM as she is a very busy Gaian with a full inbox. In other words, she holds the copyright so don't disrespect her by trying to steal anything she has created.
As for the specific character and background for Yurimi, those are copyright to me, Akina Tokuwa. I spent a long time working on her, and there is a lot of love on these cyber pages so please do not try and take my writing and call it your own.
Through our combined efforts, Yurimi has been brought to re-life.</center>
