(Click the picture above for the full-sized picture.)
This is Emerald Haven. It is unplottable, and has many magical defenses around it. Some include: a charm that, if anyone gets too close to finding the manor, they remember appointments, or important errands that they have forgotten, and a certain charm that, unless the address is given to you, you won't be able to find the manor, or even see the occupants, even if you are peeking right into the window.
If you have gifts for Ernia, do not fret. My love and I have kept our old cottages for recieving mail, or owl post, and for hosting parties and such. Also, for when our eldest daughters move out.

Nyoka Slytherin-Natenhar - It would seem that Ernia has chosen me to be her mum. I cannot explain it, and I am sure that I really don't want to. But, I am reluctant, to say the least, to raise her. How could I be a role-model to her?

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar - My mum, and it would seem now, Ernia's grandmum. Ernia looks at her with a very detatched anger. I don't know what it is about her that Ernia wouldn't like. . . .

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar - My second mum. Ernia seems to think of her in much the same way she thinks of my mum. She seems a little cautious around Eirnae, especially since she brought, essentially, Itzel into the house.

Shina Slytherin-Natenhar - This is Ernia's Aunt. She's a lovely girl. Ernia hasn't really spent a lot of time with her . . . maybe she's frightened she might make her "good". . . .

Ernia is an infant (8-7-04). Isn't she darling! So darling, she has taught me that the old saying is very true: Looks can be decieving. . . .

There was once, very long ago - when magic was still used publicly - a set of twin girls born to the king of Rose Castle (later to be known as the Isle of Winter in the Sea of Ice). Their mother, the queen and a sorceress herself, died after naming them. One was named Ernia, and the other Fiona.
They were very much the picture of "daddy's girls," and that never changed as they aged.
Over time, their powers began to show. Ernia had control of the sun, the moon, the stars, and all weather, while Fiona was a healer and was friend to the beasts.
The twins were identical in several ways. They both had their mother's beauty and natural grace, and her sweet temperament, while each commanded great respect with the regal aura about them, which they inheritied from their father.

When they were old enough to be betrothed, they were. Their father had grown ill, and wanted them settled before he passed from the world. Fiona was to marry a neighboring prince and take over the rule of Rose Castle after her father died, and Ernia was to marry a prince from beyond the Elf Hills, and rule with him in the Palace of Sighs. As their father loved them equally, and he was a fair and just king, he divided his wealth equally between his daighters.
Ernia and Fiona, meanwhile, had grown apart. They were constantly trying to see who could get the most attention from their father, as they were very competative with each other. Perhaps because they looked so much alike, they wanted to prove that they were different, that one was better than the other?
One day, a traveling minstrel came through their kindgom. The king, Fiona and Ernia, and court were so enchanted by his beautiful voice, his poetic words, and angelic face that they asked him to stay on. The king provided a room for him in Rose Castle.
The minstrel, being full of ill-intentions despite his angelic appearance, and a womanizer by nature, decided he needed to woo both princesses. And he began to do so, secretly.
His favorite gift to give them was a rose - white as freshly fallen snow.
Ernia and Fiona fell madly in love with the minstrel, And, blissfully ignorant that the charmingly handsome man was playing them both as well as he played his lute, they allowed him to take from them their most precious gift - their purity.
One night, after the treacherous minstrel had bedded them both, they each went out to their favorite place in the castle - the rose garden. They were both humming a song that both thought was written especially for them, and each was carrying a fresh, white rose.
It was only a matter of time that the sisters would bump into each other, for though the garden was big, it wasn't so terribly so that they could easily avoid each other. Especially when both were lost in fantasies and thinking of the next time they would meet their lover.
When they both heard the other humming the same song, and saw the other holding a white rose, they knew then what was going on.
Suprisingly enough, or perhaps not so suprising, they did not hate their lover. They, instead, turned their hatred on each other; each accusing the other in rather loud voices of stealing their love from them. They even started to bring their powers into play: Ernia clouding over the moon with black clouds and calling lightening forth to splinter the trees, while Fiona called forth the beasts of the forests surrounding Rose Castle, ready to attack.
It was then that their father came to the garden, to see what could have caused such a fight.
Both, too angry to stop themselves, told their father everything. The king was shocked beyond words.
But, he had yet to recieve the hardest blow. . . . Fiona was with child - the minstrel's, as she had laid with no other man.
He immediately imprisoned the minstrel. This caused much crying and protests from both Ernia and Fiona. They did not want to see him die. They begged their father to show mercy on their love, all the while bickering over who he truly loved.
Finally, the king relented. He ordered that, to save even a little of their family name, Fiona was to marry the minstrel. And, the ceremony was to be held that very night.
He then ordered that Ernia be sent to live in the Palace of Sighs, until she married the prince. So, she was shipped off just before Fiona was to marry. As the carriage was taking her away from the only home she knew, and the only love she would ever allow herself, her heart slowly turned to ice. It was then that she decided she would get vengeance on her sister for her betrayal. So, she laid a curse on the castle and the surrounding lands. Forever would it be winter. Never would the sun warm the skin of the daughter her sister carried, never would the flowers bloom for her, or the water isolating Rose Castle thaw. All you would see for miles and miles was bitter, unforgiving white. All you would ever feel would be a cold so piercing it would freeze your very blood.

The only way to break the curse would be to thaw the jagged ice that held a single, white rose captive. For that, there was only one way: the ice around the rose could only melt when one of Fiona's daughters, or granddaughters, or great granddaughters, found pure, true love, and then be able to let it go; just as Ernia could never let go of her false love.
For those curious to know if the curse was ever lifted - the answer is yes. But, this is not the story of Deirdre, Fiona's daughter. The last that I will say of this curse's lifting is that it happened ten years after the day that both Fiona and Ernia died.

Ernia was sent to marry her prince. But, once he heard of what happened with the minstrel, he was cold to her. The prince did marry her, for her great wealth and the higher station that would come of it, but he treated her as little more than a whore. For, indeed, that is how he saw her. He called her whore every chance he got, and embarassed her in public by telling of her affair, groping her, or sometimes ripping the top of her gown to expose her chest and forcing her to sit out the ball (or whatever was going on) in such a manner of dress.

After years of enduring his torture, she killed him. It was never proven that it was her, but everyone knew it. She ruled the Palace of Sighs with an iron fist. Any male who was accused of cheating, no matter their station or the proof (or lack there of), was publically castrated and beheaded; naked and bleeding, for the humiliation they caused their wife.
For, in all that time, Ernia had time to think. When her husband would abuse her, she would think of her minstrel. The more she thought about it, the more she grew to hate him, and all of his gender. In her eyes, males were unworthy of female attention, of love. They were all cruel, manipulative bastards who deserved humilation and death.

But, in the end, it was a man that killed Ernia. One of the men set to be castrated and executed bought his way from his cell. He searched the castle for Ernia. When he found her, he stabbed her in her cold, bitter heart. The last thing she ever saw were dark blue eyes.
That was the morning of the Winter Solstice, and the Palace of Sighs held a great celebration in honor of the man who killed the "Witch Queen of Ice."

This is where you will find some of Ernia's clothing. The first thing I ever bought her was this coat. She wears it whenever she has a change. A little breeze and out pops: Mum, coat.

And, this will be where we keep all of her "shinies" or jewelry. Believe me, the rate she is going, she will have a lot of jewelry. . . .

A lovely necklace gifted to Ernia by Penelope and Kinari heart It is silver (which she seems fond of, along with platinum and white gold) with three amber stones, and an amethyst.

Another lovely peice of jewelry that Kinari and Penelope gave to Ernia. She doesn't take this off, save for bath-time.

Kimomo
Sitka smiles at Ernia, and then takes a seat in the dirt. Hr reaches down with his other paw and picks up some dirt. Pouring it over the flame, he closes his two hands together, putting the flame out. When he opened his hand there was a ring resting in his palm. It was clear, like glass, and had a series of tiny red jewels all over it. In the middle of them all was a jewel that was a bit larger, also a very firey red.
He had put alot of his magic into making it just now, and he knew that it probably wasn't in her best of tastes, but perhaps she would still accept the gift.
He put his paw out, handing her the ring with a smile on his face.
Kimomo sat and stared in amazement, he had never done anything like this before... She closed her gaping mouth and decided that it was best to leave him be and be silently proud of him. She smiled to herself.

So, she turns her gaze back to Sitka and watches him carefully. Because of who she was in the past, she could feel magic when it was around her. When he opes his hands, her eyes immediately go to the ring. She clicks her beak once, and then glances at Sitka as she takes the ring. She blinks only once, and slips it on one of her fingers. She nods in thanks and smiles at him. "Pretty."
This is a ring that Sitka made Ernia at the camping trip. She never takes this off, not even for bathtime. I think she cherishes this more than anything else she has been given. . . .

This ring was gifted to Ernia by a dear friend of mine, Kia. Actually, I think it was handed over grudgingly. You see. . . . I took Ernia into HQ with me, as I do some times, and Kia had a little boy in her arms. Ernia started clicking her beak irritably, and Kia said she reminded her of a squid. As you can guess, this did not go over well for my vain little girl. She got furious and threw one of her rings at Kia. Kia could not get it back from the boy, so she gave one of her rings to Ernia as a replacement. . . .

This is the tiara Rayne made Ernia. Ernia simply adores it! She hardly ever takes it off. . . .

Here are the rings that we acquired on a recent shopping trip:

And this is a necklace that Ernia simply "had to have."

More to come soon! Especially knowing Ernia. sweatdrop

So far, the only pet that Ernia can claim as her own is Amethyst, her Gembird. He should be arriving in about a week. We shall see how she likes him. For now, she is content to snuggle his egg, because she seems to like the amethysts on it . . . sweatdrop
Amethyst:
He seems to like shiny things… a lot.. doesn’t matter what it is. If it shines he wants it. The time he went after the bubbles when you were washing dishes was amusing to say the least. He seemed very disturbed that his shinies he was taking from the water disappeared when he grabbed them. Well.. at the end the kitchen an the bird were quite wet. Also on a random note.. it appears that your bracelet has gone missing… we aren’t sure where it is.
Needless to say . . . Ernia is NOT very happy. She spent all morning trying to pry her pretty bracelett away from Amethyst, to no avail. She somehow managed to lose her ring too . . . when she tried to throw him across the room, I stepped in. Yes, the creature is annoying, but I love animals!

Miranda:
More info to come!

I saw this wolf and bought it on an impulse. I don't know why . . . but, Ernia seems to love it . . .

Keeping with the purple theme . . . I got her another plushie and a blanket, which she seems to like. . . .

This is a bit of art that Mum Eirnae found on one of her outings. She thought it would suit Ernia very well. It is framed in a glass frame with antique gold. The glass protects the gems that cover the whole thing. It goes very well in her room, which is painted a nice lavender. Ernia adores this. She could stare at the shiney gems all day. . . .

Virendra, Ernia's cousin, seems to be the only Zephirae that Ernia has warmed up to. She actually seems to enjoy her company. They have their own form of communicating with each other that is very interesting to watch. . . .

Ernia befriending Sitka is a real shock to me. She has shown nothing but hostility toward any of the male species. But, this is not so with Sitka. I think she sees something in him that might be to her advantage. Well, that, and the fact that he is one of the few Zephirae she has met, and out of them, he treats her like the Queen she thinks she should be treated as. . . .

Penelope is one of the few Angels that Ernia seems to like. I suspect this has much to do with the fact that she has recieved two gifts from her. I would also like to think it has to do with the fact that Penelope is a very sweet, and genuine, girl. I adore her myself, and I won't let Ernia be too mean to her. . . .

:::FRIENDS WHO ARE NOT ZEPHIRAE:::
Rayne Winner: Miss Rayne seems to humor Ernia's dislike for males. A lot of what she says makes sense to Ernia. I can't say that I like the idea of her humoring Ernia, but there is no malice behind it, and I greatly admire Rayne.

"Sir" Jing Xue: This is Rayne's Duo. He is the incarnation of the Snake in the Chinese Zodiac. Ernia didn't really like him at first, pretty much just because he is a male. But, after he "defended" her against Thorn, she has come to accept him. She's actually quite sweet around him. I think it is because of the fact that he "defended" her, and the fact that he is going to be getting her a pretty gem soon (I don't know how she talked him into it. . . ), that she has bestowed the title 'Sir' to him. He's her knight, I suppose?

Talica: Ernia and I met Talica in the Emeral Forest while we were talking to Uleme. She wasn't hard to miss, because of her metallic wings and her silver clothing. She and Ernia hit it off almost immediately. Talica also humors Ernia inher dislike for the male species, but I think this has more to do with the fact that Talica might feel the same way. Either that, or she just hates Jethro. Unlike Rayne, though, I think that this drow might have malicious motives. Only time will tell. In the meantime, I shall just keep an eye on her.

Mina: I recently brought home Mina. She is around to help with taking care of Ernia. Ernia seemed pleased that she had a nanny. Apparently, it seems 'high-class' enough for her. The only downside to Mina is that Talica seems to hate her. I really think she might hurt her. . .

I adore her myself, and I won't let Ernia be too mean to her. . . .

:::FRIENDS WHO ARE NOT ZEPHIRAE:::

Name: Nyoka Slytherin-NatenharAge: Teen ( seven months old )
Race: Fa'e - Gorgon
Height: when in a relaxed position on her tail - unable to determine (as it fluxuates), when in her human form, about 5'2"
Weight: Never weighed herself
Blood Type: Not recorded - too dangerous to find out (her blood is deadly)
Appearance: White skin with a green-ish tint, bright green eyes, outlined in a darker green, with reptilian slits, scales across her chest and a spattering of scales on her cheeks under her eyes. A long green tail with a silver tip (the scales turned silver after Nyoka, when a toddler, hit Lenore under the eye - silver is where her blood fell on the tail). Long, unruly black hair and four snakes growing from her head. Large, elvish-type ears. Black lips, and long, sharp, gold metal claws in place of nails, and snake fangs in place of her canines. She also has gold, dragon-like wings. She has two piercings: her right nostril and her belly-button - both silver hoops, along with one tattoo: a black snake coiled around the whole of her left arm. Also, Hoshi's star - in the form of a dark green tattoo - just above her belly button. She is never seen without her bracelets: one Shina made from her own spirit, and the other her "Sisters" bracelet.
Family: Ernia Slytherin-Natenhar (daughter? gonk ), Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar (mum), Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar (mum), Shina (sister), Damien (brother), Vinyn (sister), Arlath (sister), Krista DarkAngel (aunt), Aylana (sister), and Virendra (neice).
Close Friends: Aylana ("Blood" Sister), Ghlyssa ("Blood" Sister), Kia (Like a Sister), Silver ("Battle Brother" wink , Yanisin, Anen, Astaroth ("Ally" wink
Companions: Nakia, Sully, Jethro
Special Someone: Is very much taken, and in love with, Aadil.
Likes: Training (archery and the sword), rare/raw meat, spending time with those she cares about, apparently questing, and most, if not all animals. She likes to go to Steam, a "human" club, and dance.
Dislikes: Hurting her loved ones, feeling powerless/weak, sweets, anything "girly"
Strengths: Physical stregnth, loyalty, and a high morality (most of the time). A sense of responsibily to protect those that she loves. She has a great hold on potion-making, and reads anything she can get her hands on on that subject. Her willingness to help those she loves, and even those she is not very fond of. Bravery, and her willingness to fight for what she wants.
Weaknesses: She has a very bad temper, and when she is pressed, she loses control of it. She will enter a rage, seeing mostly red, and not really have the power to stop herself from doing harm. She has a very low self-esteem, though she hides it as best she can. She can sometimes take things said to her as a personal attack, but keeps herself from doing this most of the time. Her love for those she cares about, and her willingness to do anything for them. For example: if she were asked to chose between two friends, she never could. Or, if someone were to try to get to her through a friend, let's say they want to kill Nyoka and grab up Kia. They say, if she doesn't come with them, Kia will die. She will drop all of her weapons, and leave with them, ordering everyone to keep away - should her would-be captor ask her to. She would kill herself rather than let something happen to her friends. Also, if she is in the middle of something for herself, she would drop everything to go to a friend, ignoring her own needs, or what she wants, most of the time.
Unique Powers/Talents: Petrification (when her eyes start glowing, you had better run away) and it was recently found that her snakes have venom in them that petrifies (turn to stone) the bite and the surrounding area - though this is very weak and only lasts from half an hour to an hour, magic (doesn't use it too often - save when potion-making), mind-speak. She can speak the snake language, Greek, Egyptian, and Unicorn. She is exceptional at archery
Weapon of Choice: Her bow and arrow. Her bow is made of a dark wood with silver snakes engraved into it. Her "secondary" weapon is a sword that she somehow managed to make from an arrow when facing "Medusa" in a different dimension - it is the exact copy of the one that Perseus used to behead Medusa.
Currently: Stressed, and friggin worried.
