Welcome to the first of what is likely to be many fundraisers for the 6th Annual Gaian Ball!

As many of you may already know, the Annual Gaian Ball is a tradition here on Gaia, started in the first month of Gaia's existance. It is run by the users, for the users, in an attempt to bring everyone on the site together in an event NOT organized and planned by the administration/developers.

We're right in the beginning stages of planning, and we're looking for all the help we can get.

First and foremost, this thread exists to help us raise funds that will be used to prizes and giveaways for the ball itself. But as a side effect, it also will help raise awareness about the ball itself and help recruit other people to help out with this thing. The more Gaians have a say in it, the more it truly is a Gaian event run by Gaians for Gaians.

If you're interested in bidding, I'll give the details for that in just a moment.

Bidding
Each artist is offering different things and will be bid on seperately. You can see the starting/high bid and bid history of each artist in their post. The reason for this is so that if someone doesn't want two profiles, they aren't stuck with two as a result of there being two profile artists in this auction.

You may bid on multiple auctions if you wish to and have the funds to.

There will be no bid retractions whatsoever. If you do not have enough to funds raise the bid, then please simply do not bid.

We will accept gold and items.

Store items will be valued at 75% of their original store price.

All other items will be valued by GEM values

There will be an anti-snipe rule in effect. All bids must stand for at least 30 minutes before being accepted.

The auction will end at 6pm CST (-6GMT) on Sunday, September 30th.

Free Extras for an Old School profile

Custom status bar
Up to 2 additional sections

Free Extras for a new profile/v2 profile

Up to 5 custom buttons with hovers
Formatting for as many extra sections as you want

Currently, v2 is my preferred profile system, but I can do old school layouts as well. I just find that v2 is easier to customize the content and make the page more personalized, plus it's easier to put the content in the order that YOU want it in, and it makes it easier for you to change the content later yourself without screwing up the whole layout xd
Anything you won't do:

Custom cursors
Help making your multimedia autostart
Hidden multimedia
Profiles using copyrighted images. Fanart of copyrighted characters is ok, given that the artist has given permission. Make it easy on yourself by bidding on one of the artists in this auction!

What sort of are are you offering: Profile (yours are the shizz! As in awesome)
What will you offer to the winner of the auction: Completely Customized Profile with basic parts of a profile (friends, journal, etc.) plus custom parts. The profile can have custom fonts (dafont.com is excellent for fonts) and I will try to make it so it works for your browser. The backgrounds, headers, and all will be customized and made to the best of my ability.
Anything you won't do: Image map profiles, many brush downloads (I've got nice stuff already, don't worry) auto start media players, etc. I will not use images that you have no right to use, and no amount of begging can make me use them (It's against the ToS)
Examples of your work: Here On this profile my sister did the header image, but I'm capable of making my own now (with my sister's old graphics program which she left to me) The sample I gave was my very first ever profile. If you need to see one of my own headers just contact me.

How you can help!

Currently, we're in early stages, trying to drum up interest to get more people involved with the planning stages. We're also always up for donations to be used as prizes!

Right now, here's how you can help.

Tell us about a convention or holiday!

We can't avoid EVERYTHING a Gaian might be doing during a summer weekend, but if possible, we'd like to hold the ball over a weekend where there won't be major conflicts of interest for Gaians. Major conventions with lots of Gaian attendees, and major holidays that Gaians might be spending with their friends and family away from the computer are key things we'd like to try to avoid!
Apply to be a planning team lead!

We need responsible and organized people to take charge of the various aspects of planning. We've picked out what we feel are the key areas, and we're looking for 1-3 people to take charge of these groups!
Make us banners!

Please keep them sig sized (no more than 500x500 pixels and 100,000 bytes)!
Donate!

Whether it's your daily chance crap, a monthly letter, or a random amount of gold, your donation helps! The more stuff we get, the more prizes we'll be able to hand out! We know everyone hopes that an event will bring about free stuff for everyone. But we're all just users, and have no control over whether the admin/developers decide to provide us with new items. So we do what we can to try to make as many prizes available to users ourselves. But we've gotta have funds to do it!
