Bowen, the lost dragonrider. A cold man, haunted with a terrible past. He lives his life in solitude, roaming the lands without a path, helping those he finds in need. His only companion is a shield and a sword, forged from a strange red material. This material cannot be pierced by the strongest spears, it does not melt in the strongest heat. You see, his weapons were forged of red dragon scales, from a friend he had long ago…
There once lived a simple boy. He and his family lived on a farm; he loved to take care of his farm animals and play with his baby sister. That was, until he found a strange rock in a meadow. This rock glowed to the touch. It seemed to shimmer and shake. He took this rock home, but he showed it to no one. He was afraid of what it might do.
A few days later, it began to crack. This scared the boy, but he kept it a secret. Cracking from side to side, a small winged creature burst from the rock. The boy immediately recognized it, for he had seen many of these beasts in his schoolbooks. This was a dragon. The dragon thought he was her father, she spoke to him.
"Hello boy... my name is Gwen. What is yours?" asked the small red scaled dragon. With a gasp, he replied, "My name is Bowen."
The boy kept the dragon a secret as it grew. He hid her in the forest behind his house. She was his responsibility. He knew the power this dragon possessed was great. With Gwen at his side, he could protect people. When they were both old enough, they set off to the nearby castle to enlist; they wanted to become the legendary knights they had always heard of.
When they arrived, they found others like them. Other boys had found dragon eggs such as his. He joined their ranks and learned the art of war along side them. They became his brothers. Each dragon bonded with the founder of their egg. They were an unbeatable force in battle. They were called the Dragonriders.
It had been 17 years since Bowen had found Gwen in the meadow behind his house. Those years were the best of his life. The Dragonriders were feared by evil throughout the land. Together, they never lost a battle. They protected their homeland with ease and peace prevailed.
But dark clouds always appear in the happiest of times. A sickness came through the land, harming not only men and women, but also many dragons. Gwen, being the only female dragon of the group, was struck the hardest. With her final breath, she bid farewell to all her friends and most of all, Bowen.
Devastated, he wandered aimlessly for days until he reached his old home and collapsed. Days later, he and his comrades buried Gwen in the meadow where her egg had once been found by an innocent boy; the same innocent boy who was now a cold man standing before his best friends grave.
He could not live with such a loss. He didn’t eat, he didn’t sleep, his life consisted of sitting and watching the wind blow by. He visited the meadow often, but it was always the same. Empty.
Then one day, he walked into the meadow to find a sword buried hilt first in the ground. Along side it laid a shield, faced down. Pulling it free he gasped at the familiar sight of red scales. The shield was also made of the precious scales of Gwen. Only her magic could have done this.
He knew this was a sign from her, telling him to move on. He couldn’t. So he took the sword and the shield and made a pact that day. He would protect anyone he could find with his life if they were pure of heart.
So that is how he led his life. Protecting the innocents from the evils of the world, but he never forgot his beloved dragon. His life was filled with many battles and honorable deeds. The knight of dragon lore they whispered. Bowen, the lost Dragonrider.

What's to say about this mighty dragon? He was once a fierce, wild beast. But his heart was tamed by Bowen's innocence. Now they are one.
Together, they are a mighty force that cannot be reckoned with. They are able to speak to each other telepathicly.
