Welcome to my charity, made for giving conversation to those coherent. We do occasionally donate gold, however, the owner is an old school Gaian user whose funds would be paltry to anyone's current quest. He is currently looking for suggestions on how to gain funds in enough volume to actually assist in quests. If you want to help out, please feel free to discuss in thread or PM.

I was feeling pretty apathetic when I clicked the link to this guild/charity from the charity forum index, thinking "oh look, I'm apathetic and this is an anti-apathy charity. Irony. Yum."

So I amble on in and look around the first page. Ooh. Someone appreciates 42. I wondered if it was from before or after seeing the movie ... so I read further.

You guys are silly.

Not that that's a bad thing. It's actually a very good thing.

Anyhow, the whole passage on towels being quoted? Bonus points.

So. Although I'm still feeling fairly apathetic, I'm in a better mood than I was before I clicked on the thread. Hoopy froods, the lot of you.

And thus I've finally ventured into the Charity Forum. And actually made a post. I can't ever remember doing that second bit before.

Oh. And this was a bump, in case you couldn't tell. I just can't abide people who say "bump" or post some pointless image. What a total waste of time. If I want to waste my time bumping a thread, I at least make it so that it doesn't become a total waste of time for any other visitor to read it. And I also make sure that my time has been well and truly wasted doing something semi-constructive, which I suppose is counter-productive.

Note: *Egad* this is by far my most favoritist charity of all time! i cant believe it but im sitting at home in my underwear, (sorry for the extra info >.< wink and im reading through every post, (mind you this took a few hours considering all the donaters and donatees ^.^) and i was reading through the jokes of our dear lost friend. I realized that we never explain what apathy is incase someone doesn't know and doesn't want to ask. Well, there it is.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

For some reason, if a strag (strag: nonhitchhiker) discovers that a hitchhiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in posession of a toothbrush, washcloth, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet-weather gear, space suit, etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitchhiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitchhiker might accidentally have "lost". What the strag will think is that any man who can hitchhike the length and breadth of the Galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through and still know where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

Hence a phrase that has passed into hitchhiking slang, as in "Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is." (Sass: know, be aware of, meet, have sex with; hoopy: really together guy; frood: really amazingly together guy.)

The Words

Had I known that, I would have ordered a much larger sandwich. "Let me have the Steak Fajita Sub - but don't bother ringing it up, it's for a duck! There are six ducks out there, and they all want Sun Chips!"

So, I worked at quiznos for a bit. Now, I hated that job.... with a passion. So, one day, I decide Im going to quit, due to lack of hours. But ofcourse, being me, I have to do this in style! So, who do I turn to for fashionable styles of quiting? Why, animeparty/dana! We start talking, and she gets this idea.... quit Phantom of the Opera style. I go to work the next day, print up a name tag that says "PHANTOM" and wear it. I change the cd in the cd player to the POTO sound track. My manager is laughing his a** off at me doing this seriously. Hes a very cool guy, lol. So, anyways, I start the day off. Every blonde hair blue eyes customer I saw I was like "Christine... Christine is that you?!?" And when ever I checked someone out, I would hand them their sub and say "And remember *glare* Im there inside your mind!"

So at one point. I see this one blonde hair girl. I say "Christine, is that you?!" Her eyes go wide, and say "Phantom?!?" No joke, the song changes to "All I ask of you" and we start singing it as I assemble her sub.... as the song ends, I end her the sub, and say "Remember, Im there inside your mind"

Now, I go out to celebrate my quitting, expecting to have a message on my machine from the owner telling me I was fired. When I come home, theres a message all right. He told me he wanted to give me more hours biggrin I returned the next day, took the hours, and put in my two weeks biggrin

How to Apply to Charities in General:

On the first page of most charities, there will be a form you can fill out. Fill in the necessary information, but be sure to read through all of the front page posts of the charity before posting your form. A lot of charities will slip in a requirement somewhere that you must put with the application for it to be accepted.

So you would put cheesecake as your favorite food in the application to show the owners of the thread that you cared enough to read their page.

It started out one spring morning that I opened the link to your thread, wondering if I could possibly be worthy of a donation. So I read your rules; and when it got to the 42 part, I cried invisible tears. I also read the little lines you called 'seperators' and was wondering to myself if anyone else had done the same. Of course that was a marvoules idea because they made me laugh. And yes, Hamster wheels do go round, and they do amuse me to no end. Even without a hamster in it. And so, it was then that I was finished reading the first post.

Now, since i'm lazy, I did not look at the second post, please forgive me.

Anyho.. The third post amused me. Making me laugh in finding that there is still a good sence of awesome in the world. I heart you. With that I was off to read the fifth post because again I was lazy and just skipped over the fourth post. *Insert another forgive me momment here.*

The fifth post is my second favorite. With all of the accumulative knowledge you have in the post, makes my pants happy. The definition of Apathy, the wonderfuly awesome Towel quote from Hitchhiker's (which has to be one of the top top notch books in my books of top notchdom), and all of the information that you have put together. This post has therefore, earned my purple star of approval. Which could be the highest ever. And like that, I was on to the next post.

I have to say, that this post has made me fall in love with your Charity. Mitch Hedberg is/was one of my idols. He will always and forever be one of my idols. His jokes and himself are so amazingly awesome that I live by his words of wisdom everyday. My favorite joke of his has to be the forest fire prevention character joke. Which is not in your post. But the ones that you do have make me happy, and make me smile.

R.I.P. Mitch Hedberg, you will always and forever be loved.

So after almost crying, I scroll, yes.. I scroll on down to your next post. And I have to say that biggyph00l is one of my hero's now. POTO has got to be one of the best musicals ever. His story really is a truely inspirational story. I heart him so much now.

I took a quick glance at your donatee's list, and because i'm a lazy b*****d, I did not read them all. Maybe just the first 5. There. Now smile, I read something.

I read your cheesecake line.
And I feel like being poked.

The above was one of the best posts ever in my old thread. Below are the first two Gaians that this thread ever donated to. Twinkle became a regular for years, and I still smile every time I see these applications. The donation size was 100 gold, which back then took about a full day to acquire and actually was helpful to a quest effort. Inflation is an amazing thing.

I hope you were entertained and leave this thread with something either in your pocket or your mind. Preferably both.
