Welcome to Gaia! ::

Even though it's early, we've already started planning for the 6th Annual Gaia Ball, a sitewide ball hosted by users for users, in the hopes of bringing together members from all over the site to enjoy one giant ball with each other!

As is tradition, the hosting duties pass from one member to the next every year. This year, there were TWO people undertaking hosting duties. Elindranyth and TKid were running the show this year, but due to their Mod duties they decided to let Freaksrus run the show!

But they need your help! We're looking for all sorts of help, from just random suggestions here and there, to donations and fundraiser helpers, to dedicated members who will help plan and host the ball itself!

So here we are, in the Gaia Community Project forum, seeking your help. We want to get as much of the community involved as we can, making it truly a Gaian Ball.

July 20, 2007: Next summer it is! We put it to a vote, and with a vote of 11-3, summer won. We haven't set a specific date yet, as we would like to try to plan it so as not to coincide with a convention (or at least not coincide with a major con or con Gaia is officially attending).

How you can help!

Currently, we're in early stages, trying to drum up interest to get more people involved with the planning stages. We're also always up for donations to be used as prizes!

Right now, here's how you can help.

Bump or bid on our art auction!
We've still got some artists with low bids, or no bids at all!

Tell us about a convention or holiday!
We can't avoid EVERYTHING a Gaian might be doing during a summer weekend, but if possible, we'd like to hold the ball over a weekend where there won't be major conflicts of interest for Gaians. Major conventions with lots of Gaian attendees, and major holidays that Gaians might be spending with their friends and family away from the computer are key things we'd like to try to avoid!

Apply to be a planning team lead!
We need responsible and organized people to take charge of the various aspects of planning. We've picked out what we feel are the key areas, and we're looking for 1-3 people to take charge of these groups!

Make us banners!
Please keep them sig sized (no more than 500x500 pixels and 100,000 bytes)!

Donate!
Whether it's your daily chance crap, a monthly letter, or a random amount of gold, your donation helps! The more stuff we get, the more prizes we'll be able to hand out! We know everyone hopes that an event will bring about free stuff for everyone. But we're all just users, and have no control over whether the admin/developers decide to provide us with new items. So we do what we can to try to make as many prizes available to users ourselves. But we've gotta have funds to do it!

We'll be adding and removing things from this list as time goes on. The guild is a public one, so you do not have to be a member to post (but you can request to join if you want!) Feel free to post any suggestions you might have here or in the guild!
JUST IN CASE!
and we're rolling!

I won't help out directly, but you have my full support. I'm used to organising balls on my WoW server, actually and, like Gaia, they always appear to be extremely popular. Often, they are hetic to sort out, especially on a site such as this, where there is never one central point of interest. Thus, you end up having to try and advertise it everywhere and anywhere at once.

Good luck to you all.
