On the planet Jungien, people used to live rather peacefully. Until one day, a people called the Dormiitar came to their planet and took over, slaughtering all of the Jungiens.

But the Jungien's gods, the Shyiiar locked their souls away in crystal shard, determined they live on and someday reclaim their land.

With the help of guides from other planets, this may soon be possible.

Niela has found her guide in the form of a small moon elf named Shiaree, but there is much that has happened to her before she got here. This is the story of Niela, and of her twin brother Sharak.

(Please do not post here unless you have permission. At this moment, the only people who have permission to are myself and Airez. Hopefully other shard owners will be welcomed soon, but as long as we are exploring the past it is incredibly unlikely.)
Niela's basic stats:

Name:
Niela Jentra (Nee-ay-luh Gehn-truh)
Age:
Will likely vary in each story, but she probably died in her early twenties.
Birthdate:
19 Theryarwe
Family:
Shakra Jentra (twin brother), Rinnald Jentra (father), Fala Jentra (mother, died in childbirth), Hadda Jentra (brother, older), Tiel Jentra (brother, older)
Marital Status:
Single
Sexual preference:
Male, and intelligent.
Prospects:
The more you are like her brother, the more of a chance you have with her. Niela thinks Shakra is the epitome of a male. Although her father isn't far off either. You'd also have to get their approval, as well as her other brothers' approval, and most likely their favour. If the other men in Niela's life don't get along with you, it's bye-bye here. ...there is that, as well. You'd have to be able to tolerate having to share her. Niela's not going to give up her father or brothers for you.
Likes:
Nature, quiet, peace, isolationism, stargazing, butterflies, pretty things
Dislikes:
Crowds, cities, boisterous people, fighting, scratches (especially those that marr her face)
Favourite foods:
Lots of flavour, but not too strong
Hated foods:
Anything spicy
Favourite scents:
Honeysuckle and Lemon
Hated scents:
Wet dog and sweat

Personality: (Basics, to be elaborated upon)
Dreamy and romantic, Niela has a rather naive outlook on life for the most part. Being raised with so many older brothers, she was babied a lot, and they took it unto themselves to make sure that noone bothered to teach her about reality.

She created her own little fantasy world for herself, believing that all that mattered were the things around her. She's slightly existential, always living in the moment and not paying much heed to the future. Or at least, she was before she died.

She loves her family dearly, and nothing will ever be able to come between herself and her brothers and father. Sadly, all of them left for the city at various points in her life, and so in her later years she developed an acute sense of isolationism.

Lonely became the word of the day for her. Sure, she still had her father, but he had become quite old by then and wasn't much company. Besides that, she was used to having at least Sharak with her, and the loss of her twin to the Knights in the big city sent her into a shock.

Niela appreciates the beautiful things in life, and enjoys nature, music, and philosophy more than anything else. She likes thinking about things that don't seem to matter, although she rarely applies them to her own life. When Sharak left for the city, she started pondering over such trivials as the meaning of life, the tales of the Shyiiar, and the mythology behind the stars.

History:

Niela was born the third..well, fourth really, child of Rinnald and Fala Jentra. Shakra, her twin brother, was born just before her, though the two rarely bother to distinguish that particular fact.

Her two older brothers, Tiel and Hadda, were quite a bit older by that point-- being all of ten and twelve already. Therefore, the two often got stuck helping out with the twins when their father was out fixing up the cabin..why? Because their mother died during childbirth. It was difficult for Rinnald, raising the four of them by himself, but somehow he managed.

The small piece of land they lived on took a lot of upkeep, and even at a young age Shakra and Niela learned how to help out around the house. Still, they were pampered quite a bit more than their older brothers because they were so young. This is probably what led, later on, to their teasing of Shakra.

Niela and Shakra were quite close, and depended on each other for moral support, especially when the two older boys started picking on Shakra. They left Niela alone-- as they had been taught to respect women above all else due to their mother's sacrifice amongst other things, but Shakra was the victim of a lot of discontent.

Eventually, though, both became weary of their life in the cottage, and left for the forbidden city when they were twenty and twenty-two.. Their father was more than a little displeased with this, and informed ten-year-old Niela and Shakra that their brothers had become corrupted and were not to return upon any circumstances. Or to be spoken to should they attempt to return.

Niela was quite willing to accept this, given the terrible things their father had been telling them about city-dwellers their entire lives. Shakra, on the other hand, didn't. Instead, he felt an intense desire to follow his brothers, prove himself to them.

By the time he was eighteen he had convinced his father to let him go, and that he would not be corrupted by the city. Being that Shakra was the man's pride and joy, Rinnald let him go without all the stipulations the other two had had. Although, those rules still applied to Tiel and Hadda.

Niela was alone. Shakra came back occasionally, when he had time off. But most of the time he merely discussed his training with his father for the first half of his day home, and then he went to the star-watching rock to spend the rest of it with Niela.

This wasn't enough for the twin who was used to being the center of her brother's world. She became quite miffed with him, and more than a little depressed. Over the years she even went into the city once or twice to look for him, but every time she became quite lost and more than a little disconcerted with the hectic schedules of it.

Eventually, though, even this modicum of sanity would leave her, though. Shakra's training became even more intense, and he managed to get home all the less frequently. After a few more years, she started to develop a sort of hopelessness that she would ever get her twin back. Worse yet, she blamed the need of able-bodied fighters for keeping him away from her.

Her hatred of city-dwellers grew. But that was nothing compared to the hatred she'd feel when they took her brother away from her for good. One night, he snuck back home to tell Niela and Rinnald about the Dormiitar invasion. Niela was frightened, but confident that as long as Sharak was there everything would be okay.

Of course, that was shattered when the man told her he meant to return to the city and fight against them. Proud as she was that her brother had managed to make it to the ranks of Knighthood and complete his training, she didn't like the idea that he was going to fight and die against the Dormiitar. Worse yet, that he was going to do it without her.

But she was too frightened to go with him. It wasn't long after that that she herself was killed. Presumably following her brother's death.
About Niela's family: (in progress)

Shakra Jentra:

Rinnald Jentra:
Tall and strong, Rinnald was never a very pretty man. Sure, he was relatively attractive in his younger days, but he had always been too solidly built to be much of the ladies' man most of the boys his age seemed to be. Instead, Rinnald was a very serious youth. He respected the Shyiiar above all else, and prayed in the temple frequently.

An incident involving some rather rude city-bred men and the Shyiiar temple is what led him to the decision that he would leave the city as soon as he was ready to settle down. It wasn't long after that that he met Fala. The two fell in love, and were married. Not a year later, he moved his wife and their new baby (Hadda) out into the middle of nowhere.

Rinnald was a very stern and protective man. He didn't like the idea of anyone he cared about getting hurt, and was slightly more restrictive than absolutely necessary because of it. Deeply religious, he also engrained in his children, and even his wife, the need for them to be free of corruption and pure in the eyes of the Shyiiar.

Fala Jentra:

Beautiful and gentle, Fala was reminiscent of a delicate lily. In fact, many people referred to her as the "Lily of Thun", Thun being the small village she grew up in. It's easy to see why Rinnald fell in love with her-- to be sure, she was the object of quite a few men's affections in her later days.

She chose to be with her husband simply because she admired his devotion to the Shyiiar and knew that she could trust that devotion be turned equally towards her. And it most assuredly was. Rinnald adored his wife just as much as he did the Shyiiar, even when they took her from him.

Sadly, it was likely her small frame that caused her to die during the birth of her twins. The strain of giving birth to not just one, but two children, pushed her out of the world of the living.

Hadda Jentra:

Very similar to his father, Hadda is a very proud and stubborn man. Sadly, it was likely this that led to the rift between him and his two youngest siblings. Somehow, Hadda seemed to blame them for their mother dying, and at the same time resent them for the attention their father gave them.

Because of this, Hadda was the one who started the plans and rebellions against Rinnald that would lead to himself and Tiel leaving. Perhaps if they had been more subtle, or less offensive as Sharak was, they would not have angered their father so in leaving, but this simply was not Hadda's way.

He is by no means abusive or overbearing, but Hadda's a very intimidating man, very confident. He believes quite strongly in his own abilities, and, at times, is a bit -too- confident in his own abilities. This often makes him irrational, and impulsive. His training as a Knight eliminated a lot of his personal beliefs in his invincibility, but not enough that he didn't still have a certain arrogance about him.

He was also quite vain. Hadda took a lot of pride in his appearance as well as his abilities. Because he inherited more of his father's looks than of his mother's, he had to work hard to make himself look as attractive as he did.

Tiel Jentra:

Tiel was more like his mother. He was quiet and withdrawn during his early childhood. However, his brother quickly took advantage of this fact, and made him his partner-in-crime. Tiel was more the brains behind the outfit than anything else, though.

Hadda would think of what he wanted to accomplish, and Tiel would get it done. Sadly, Hadda didn't always think to consult his brother first, which is why they got in trouble so often. Most of the time Tiel would have been able to think of a much better plan than the one Hadda enacted.

Still, the younger boy wasn't a complete pushover. And he wasn't completely the nice guy either. Tiel was intensely jealous of Shakra, which is most of the reason why he let Hadda pick on him so much, and sometimes joined in. This jealousy was likely spurred not just by Rinnald's evident favouritism, but also by the fact that he and Shakra had similar personalities in many ways, but that Shakra didn't have to deal with Hadda or father the way that Tiel did.

Still, most of the time Tiel wasn't too bad to be around. He wasn't particularly friendly, more the silent scholar sort than anything else, without the shyness. He made a very good Knight, especially when they separated him from Hadda.

Niela's winning entry: (edited)

It wouldn't have meant much to anyone else. They would overlook such a small thing-- would never have marked it as important to them, or even significant in any way. But for her, it meant everything.

She had grown up in a more rural section of Jungien. There were few cities, and far between there. They hadn't even lived in one of those, though. Instead, her father had taken off, saying that cities bred discord and dishonour. He'd built the house they lived in with his own two hands...and his family had benefitted from it.

She couldn't remember a time when her family had really had any severe arguments. They were almost always content. Just herself, her older brothers, and her father. She and her brothers ran wild amongst the trees and flowers, never disrespecting but always utilizing the vast resources near the house.

Her father always told them not to go too far. Her mother had died giving birth to her, but that hadn't stopped their closeness. Indeed, it had brought them all together even more. One of the most important instances of this, she thought, was the day before her twin brother left for his part in repelling the Dormiitar.

"I'm going to die tomorrow," he said as they sprawled out on their favourite star-gazing rock. It was night-time, as it always was when they went out here for their chats. Whenever he wanted to be serious, he took her here.

"You might not..." she protested. She hated the fighting. Hated that it would take her precious brother from her-- wreck her little family, take away the little world they had created for themselves. He flipped her hair affectionately over her shoulder, shaking his head,
"Maybe not tomorrow, but soon. The Dormiitar are very powerful....sister, you will die some day too."

She shuddered, moving closer to him. She didn't like that idea at all. Death..was frightening. She had already lost her mother, and although she hadn't ever known the woman, the idea of having another hole in her life was unforgiveable.
"We shouldn't have to die or fight," she said softly, "It isn't fair."

"Life isn't fair," he said gently, pulling her in for a hug,
"But remember this. No matter how long it is before you die, I will be there waiting for you. I will always be here to protect you...look up at the stars."

She did as he asked, though her eyes were filling quickly with tears. They were quite beautiful this late in the year. The sky was so clear that she could make them all out perfectly-- not one of them hidden by the clouds. Her brother had given them names; traced out pictures with them by creating lines between each star.

"I will be up there, when the Shyiiar take me from you," he whispered in her ear. Chills ran down her spine, and she knew this for truth.

"You'll wait there for me? In the stars? Forever?" She asked. The stars had always held a special significance for her. They represented all the times in which she and her brother had come to talk out here. They represented her life and love for him. They were as much a part of her as the air she breathed.

"Forever, I promise." He replied, hugging her tightly. And she knew it for truth.
Sharak's winning entry:

The large hall was filled with the lights of celebration. Chatting and coversations burst through out the torches lining the walls, lighting up the place in a glow of luminescence and purity. The different colored banners lined hte walls with an exotic sight, creating an over all cherry aura to expand upon the already joyous mood. Yes, the night sky only did peak into the windows of the Great Hall of the Royal Family. Tonight was a night to be forever remembered. Forever embedded in the minds of the youth that lined the floor.

The crowds of Jungien civilians and soldiers alike lined the long stretch of carpet, making a great pathway for a number of individuals. Their cheers and shouts were dying down now as the doors opened. The great hall door that emmitted a grand creak of noise, showing their age in the echos of volume. The ambience in the air became quite for that moment, everyone's eyes turned towards the very back of the room, watching as a number of young men and women stepped forth over the crimson rows.

Heads held high, these few Jungien mean and women, only four in number, walked down the carpet in brillant garments and streams of color. Two were garbed in armor, those of cadets; while the others were drapped in robes of mystic looks. Their purpose tonight was one that happened often, yet was always a sight to behold. This was the night that they would move on, ot become the elite of their jobs. They would become those of great strength and fortitude. This was their initiation. This was their night in the light.

With their armor clanging and their robes draggign behind, the four moved up. One which was nervous like no other was young Sharak Jentra, who gulped and stepped forward nervously. He was the apprentice to Artegall Horace, a legend amongst the Royal Knights. This was the moment he'd been waiting for after years of time had gone by. This was his dream, his goal, his life's role. Yes, he was finally going to prove his worth to the people in this land. No longer was he the weak squire, for now, he was going up in the ranks to be recognized.

The four stopped before the end of the Hall, before the royal family. Ther was the prince, who did not seem too thrilled about the whole matter, as well as the king and queen, who couldn't look happier. Before them was now a number of the highest ranking knights in the land, as well as a number of priests. The head priest, Paridell Yeshin, stepped forth out form the line and nodded at the four before him.

"Young warriors and mages," he spoked in a resounding voice that could be heard echoing upon the walls, "You have trained hard. You have shed your own blood for your people, for your souvereigns, and for your gods. You have all been through so much, through thick and thin." the brown haired man began walking down the line, "Each one of you have made it through the trials set before you. You were each given your choices and descisions, and proven most greatly to us all. You are worthy of the Royal Knighthood and Magi."

To this, the entire room eruptted in calling of noise and cheers. It was time for rejoice. While it didn't mean all that much to them, it did in fact mean there was a party about to happen. This is what everyone looked forward too after all, no one was here for the corenation.

"Now... speak your vows."

Standing forth, Sharak took a gulp. It was his turn to go first this time. He would show his colors before the world. It was his turn to be in the light, rather than his brothers now. This was his time, his place of celebration. It meant the entire world to him at this moment. This young amn would indeed go down in history, that was his dream.

"I, Sharak Jentra, do solemnly swear upon the Shyiir and my name, that I shall serve the Royal Family unto my death." he shouted, trying to make it as big as he ever could, "I shall serve my family, my friends, and my people in battle. I will forever put my life upon the line shall it be called for. I will not let the people of this world down, by my blood and by my sword!"

With this, his unsheathed his blade and cut along his arm, dousing the steel in a crimson run. His own life essence spilled down the shining blade and dripped to the ground as many before him had done. The initiation was complete, he was now a Royal Knight. No long was he Sharak the child. Now, he would be respected as Sharak, the Knight.

The days in the past where his brothers mocked his inability seemed so far away. They were all knights as well, though not of his present rank, of his prestigue. The times of him being called 'weakly' and 'failure' were now all in the past. It was gone now, gone with the lights of the hall that lit up the sky with celebration. Already he could imagine the people calling out his name, calling him a legend of the days in the future. Oh how the thoughts brought shivers down his body, down his legs.

With his body trembling from the excitement, he nearly fell forward upon the floor, but was caught by Artegall. The long haired man looked down into Sharak's eyes, patting his shoulder. There were tears in the young man's eyes, tears which he held back. No way would he show weakness at this point. The shouting of the crowd filled his mind with both pride and esteem. This would keep him going until the end of days, until he would infact die upon the battlefields.

"You did good, my apprentice, now get some rest" spoke the taller man as he led Sharak over to the priests. There he was laid down upon a large table, his armos torn off and bandages applied to his wounds. The priests worked diligently to heal up his gash with magic, not even leaving a scar behind as the blue aura swept over him. The cheering of the crowd still resonated in his mind, blinding his thoughts with joy.

As the priests left the room, the sense of exhaustion was soon playing into his body. The andrenaline he wasted while moving up towards the front of the line was now fading from his bloodstream like water from a pale. The idea of something so magnificent and exotic was just a lavishing effect, glistening with wonder upon his eyes. Sharak couldn't believe is almost, like it was just a distant memory that happened only to the heros from the past. The ambrosia of sheer happiness glided along his prounding heart, calming it slowly. The sight of something caught hold of his eyes with interest.

He stared up at a statue of a beautiful woman. Her eyes closed his her mouth shrouded. The stone face seemed to gaze back at him, wondering upon who this young man was, what his story held. Now, Sharak smiled and rose his hand up, petting the Shyiir's face with his hand into the air. While he could not reach the stone, nor feel it, some how he knew it was holding his hand back. This celestial being, this diety, seemed to hear his thoughts and his words. It made his heart shake with joy as he stared up upon her face.

Butterfly

She always liked butterflies. With their beautiful, fragile wings and vibrant colours. She liked the way they fluttered on the wind so gracefully, like little flower petals settling gently on the ground. Niela especially loved the way they seemed so lighthearted, carefree. She'd always tried to be as much like a butterfly as possible.

So it wasn't any surprise when she approached her father that day. In fact, he was only surprised she hadn't approached him sooner,
"Father, can you make me look like a butterfly?"

The man looked down at her, a rare smile forming on his lips as he took her hands in his,
"Niela, you already -do- look like a butterfly," his voice was gentle, as it never was with Hadda or Tiel. The girl looked up at her father, eyes widening,
"What do you mean?" She asked, little chin trembling. Of course she -wanted- to look like a butterfly, but she had never suspected she ever would. She merely thought that perhaps her father could make her a butterfly costume, just like the multicoloured costumes he sometimes described when telling them about the Shyiiar festivals in the city.

"You're a beautiful, tiny little butterfly already. My butterfly. You should not strive to be too much more than you are, or you will never be satisfied."

Niela pouted a bit at this. It wasn't precisely what she had expected-- father was trying to make another one of his philosophical points. And while she often appreciated this, right now she really just wanted to be a butterfly.

"Can you make me a butterfly costume, though?" she asked, determined not to get sidetracked by the debates she and her father often fell into.

"No. I will not." His voice had the sort of tone in it that left no room for argument, and so she burst into tears and ran from the room, heading for the forest. The forest, at least, understood her.

Weeping unashamedly, she pushed passed a rather confused looking Sharak (whom she later found out went in and asked his father about what had happened, and the two ended up in a bit of a fight over his treatment of Niela) and eventually came to her favourite alone spot.

As much as she loved being with Sharak, sometimes she needed some time to be purely alone, and this was the location she had chosen for such ventures.

Visits

She had just finished brushing her hair. For Niela, the one thing she took the most pride in about her appearance was her hair. She didn't much care for the rest of her, although she liked the way she was willowy and her father and Sharak assured her she did greatly resemble a sort of human butterfly.

But the appearance of butterfly-likeness, she thought, stemmed mainly from her hair. It was soft and thin and beautiful. It splayed back behind her like wings and fluttered on the air gracefully just as she would have liked to if she herself were a real butterfly.

By this point she had finally managed to accept that there was no way for her to actually become such a creature, or even to become any more like one than she was. She couldn't change herself, afterall. But she did attempt to at least make herself seem butterfly-esque.

That was why her dress had butterflies on it, and her favourite butterfly haircomb sat in her hair above the tiny knot she had tied the left side of her hair into above her ear. She thought it made her look quite pretty, and as father had agreed, she decided that this was good enough.

Stepping out of the house, the hushed silence of the night greeted her. She had to leave this late because then father would be asleep and would not hear her leave. It wasn't really that she though he would stop her. More that she was afraid that if he agreed to let her go she might lose her courage.

The idea of going to the city terrified her. Her father had spent all the years of her life telling Niela just how horrid they were. People were cramped together in buildings no further apart than the trees in a forest. There were roads paved with stone and people who sold themselves on the street. There were those who would take advantage of any situation to hurt another.

These were the people she would have to avoid.

Listening to the crickets chirp, the girl..woman now, she had to remind herself...wondered if she would be able to do so. Would she come back a changed person just as her brothers had? There was no denying that the last time Hadda and Tiel had come to visit had been less than pleasant. Tiel had never been unkind to Niela, but he was certainly different, and father had not been happy to see them or to hear about their adventures.

Her bare feet padded along the grass quietly. Father usually asked her to wear shoes, but she had always felt they weren't particularly necessary. Her feet were strong enough to take some abuse, especially with how often she wandered about the forests without shoes on. Still, she had some in her pack for when she reached the city. According to father the city streets were covered with filth, and she was very much a person who enjoyed keeping clean.

((I thought we could set the scene first? I'll write her leaving, and then you can write Luc leaving before we have them meet up?))
Visits cont.

Lucifer eyed the windows nervously. Would they notice? Would they see him suspiciously walking by himself out in the courtyard?

"No....." Lucifer thought, "They can't see me from this far. There are so many knights here today...."

The palace and courtyard were unusually crowded, filled to capacity with knights from all parts of Jungien. Today was some kind of ceremony...or something. Lucifer paid no attention to special occasions. He only knew that this was the perfect opportunity to slip out unnoticed.

As the lithe prince looked back over his shoulder to inspect the palace windows one last time, a particularly large knight bumped into him and sent him flying to the ground.

"Prince!!!" the knight exclaimed, embarassed for knocking the heir of Jungien down. Maybe it was Lucifer's fault for not looking where he was going, but knights knew how to take the blame when it was necessary. "Are you okay, your highness!?"

So much for secrecy. This knight just HAD to shout his identity to the whole vicinity. He expected his mother or one of the maids to start screeching at him from the palace window. They'd yell at him to get back inside where he belonged. They'd tell him not to mingle with knights, or else he'd pick up rude barbarian manners. They'd scold him for leaving without permission and discipline him accordingly.

Sure enough, the activity of the courtyard came to a complete halt. All of the knights immediately stopped what they were doing at the mention of the "Prince," and turned to face the direction of the disturbance. Lucifer felt all of the eyes turn onto him and blushed.

"Ahh...I'm sorry," the young prince said to the knight he bumped into, "I wasn't watching where I was....."

"Prince Lucifer, what are you doing out here?!" a familiar voice called from behind him.

Lucifer froze. He knew who that was. That meant it was time to go back to the palace to face punishment...

"Why are you out here, your highness? Don't you know that today is the day that the Knights of Jungien celebrate our new recruits?" Artegall asked, walking up to Lucifer and helping him up. "You really shouldn't be out here...if your Uncle finds out, he's going to be very upset..."

"I was just....curious, that's all..." Lucifer said as he was helped to his feet. He would have to decide what to do soon.

"Curious? I find that a poor reason to disobey the orders of the King, your Uncle, and go outsi.........."

Artegall was cut off as Lucifer turned around and ran straight for the courtyard gate.

"Wha-! Prince, where are you going?!" Artegall shouted, chasing Lucifer across the stone pavement, "Hey you....close that gate! Make sure he doesn't get out!"

The knights by the gate were caught unawares, but nodded after hearing Artegall's orders. The began to push the gate shut.

"I've got...to run faster!" Lucifer thought, picking up speed and forcing his poor unanthletic body to the threshold.

Lucifer managed to run past the gate just as the knights were closing it. The left elbow of his coat was snagged on a metal bar, but his velocity managed to rip the fabric and allow him to continue running.

"I.....did it.......!" Lucifer said in his mind, congratulating himself on his victory. He could not help but smile widely as he ran down the stairs that led from the palace to the streets of Anarche. He could hear Artegall shouting to him from the courtyard, but the voice got softer and softer as he descended the stairs. Apparently, the knights were not following him.

"Open the gate! Open the gate!!!" Artegall screamed, banging on the bars. The knights by the gate had closed the gate just as Lucifer ran out, successfully trapping those who would be giving chase to the young prince inside the courtyard. Rattling and squeaking could be heard, telling Lucifer that they were probably fumbling with the lock on the gate. It always got stuck if the gate was closed too quickly.

Finally he reached the ground level. Merchants called out to passerbys and pedestrians chattered loudly. It was so busy and full of different kinds of people. Lucifer spotted a stand of strange looking fruit nearby. What WAS that stuff? Being raised in the seclusion of the palace meant not being able to try local food from different regions.

Intent on trying some of this bright blue fruit, Lucifer walked over to the stand. As he crossed the street to reach the merchant, he noticed that his vision was blurry. What was going on? Lucifer turned around, trying to clear his vision, but saw a red trail leading from the bottom of the stairs to his location. What WAS that?

"Blood....." Lucifer said quietly. He was too confused to fully grasp the extent of the shock. He looked at his elbow, which finally registered as stinging and numb.

It was moist and dripping! When he caught his arm on the gate, it must have cut his arm. Lucifer let out a whimper and grabbed his arm before falling over onto the street.
((*dies* OMG. I love him so much.))

She reached the city after none too long, only a few days had passed. Niela had managed to keep herself clean and well-fed through her experience in the forests more than anything else. Certainly she hadn't brought enough money with her to stay in the various hotels that were along the dirty roads between different villages.

She'd put her boots on a few moments ago, just before encountering the city gates. Noone asked any questions, simply assuming she was a girl from the nearby village, likely coming here to study at the Magic school or perhaps to become a Knight as a few girls were want to do.

She didn't, of course, know any of this. She just took it as a matter of course that she'd be accepted, having no reason to believe she wouldn't. Afterall, there were few thieves out in the middle of nowhere in which she'd previously inhabited, so why would she know anything about security measures?

Well, the first thing to do would be to find her brother, of course. He would be...at the Knights' barracks, wherever those were. Or at least he ought to be getting there. Perhaps, then, it would be best to ask for directions. There were so many buildings, the whole place was quite overwhelming. She somehow doubted she could rely simply on luck to locate the proper one.

"Um..excu-" she broke off upon seeing a young man faint at a fruit stand not a ten feet from where she was standing. No other person seemed to even notice him, nor willing to give him a hand. Startled by this fact, she made her way over, forgetting about her current mission, and lifted the man's head from the pavement, setting it in her lap while she assessed his injuries.

He'd probably bumped his head pretty hard, but there wasn't any bleeding so he should be okay there. Possibly a few other bruises, but he looked in generally good condition..well, except for the bleeding he -was- doing in another location. Blinking, she ripped a small strip off of her dress and tied it around him to staunch the flow of the blood.

"Well now, I suppose we'd best get you off these grimy streets, hadn't we?" she said gently to the still unconscious man, and carefully lifted him. He was surprisingly light-- a good thing as her strength was rather limited. She carried him carefully over to the nearest doorway, and set him up there where she could get a better look at his wound without having to worry about the nasty city dirt getting into it.
((Heehee! Niela's so funny! City dirt! xd ))

Lucifer broke in and out of consciousness. He felt himself being lifted and then carried over to somewhere, but his vision hadn't returned, and everything remained a fuzzy blur. He saw the blue sky above him...then that faded out to the marketplace from a distance...then that faded out to...a girl?

He didn't remember meeting anyone before he passed out.

"Whaaa..." Lucifer said, his voice trailing off as he tried to regain himself from another black out, "Who..."

His head slumped back down. Strangely, it required a lot of energy for him to talk or move. Lucifer wondered for a bit at this, but then remembered that he had lost blood earlier. Everytime he lost blood he'd pass out...and feel really weak for quite a time afterwards. Maybe running away from the knights wasn't such a good idea after all. He'd have to go back eventually, and when he did they'd all be very upset with him. Lucifer wondered what came over him and caused him to run. The thrill of excitement, perhaps? It was a stupid decision. Lucifer always found himself regretting things, and it made him wonder why he even put himself in these situations. He should just listen to his father and uncle, and he'd never have to worry or stress out ever again. Unfortunately for him, there was something within him that said otherwise. It told him to do what he wanted and take risks. It always got him into trouble. Lucifer remembered himself worrying if he had multiple personalities. It ended up being a foolish assumption, but he always wondered about it. There MUST be something wrong with him.

Putting his worries aside for a bit, Lucifer wondered about that girl he caught a glimpse of. Come to think of it...where was he? Finally pushing himself to learn about his location, he discovered that he was actually being taken care of by the girl he saw. And she was still there. Looking him over.

"Ah!" Lucifer exclaimed, jolting upright into a sitting position. Despite his lack of energy, the threat gave him all the motivation he needed. "I-I-I..."

He had bad experiences with women. Many of his suitors were manipulative, and they always tried to give him drinks or something to "calm him down" so they could have their way with him. Fortunately, Lucifer was always able to avoid disaster and get away somehow. It was a good thing, too...or he'd do something stupid in his drunken state, like agree to a marriage. Then he'd be stuck with those women FOREVER. Because of this, he was always cautious around the other sex. They were so threatening...and he was so vulnerable, especially when he was half-conscious.

"I......err" Lucifer mumbled, staring at Niela. He wanted to make an excuse to get away, but couldn't think straight at the moment. Niela was a pretty girl, and she didn't look scary. At least not at the moment. Still cautious that this girl might take advantage of him, Lucifer inched away from her and kept his distance. He folded his legs under him and sat.

"I'm sorry. Who are you...?" he asked, blinking a few times to clear up his slowly returning vision. If anything, he wanted to be a gentleman. That is what he was taught. Though sometimes, he found it a bit difficult to treat some of the ladies he knew with respect, especially when they bullied him around. This girl hadn't done anything to him...yet.
"Shhh..." she said, smiling a little bit and motioning to his arm,
"You're still a bit weak, I'm sure. You fainted in the marketplace."

She brushed her feathery-soft hair behind her shoulder, looking up at the sign above the building she had dragged him to. It seemed to indicate a restaurant of sorts. Well, at least she could get some food into him when he was well enough to walk.

"I'm Niela Jentra....those people were so rude!" She couldn't contain herself any longer. Father was completely right about city-folk. They were horrid people who didn't care about anyone but themselves.

"They didn't even look when you fainted! Father said that city-folk were really mean, but I never thought anyone could be that mean!"

She tied off the bandage on his arm, then stood up, brushing off her dress (which was covered with nasty city dirt-- she'd definitely have to wash it thoroughly when she returned home!). Another little smile lit her face as she motioned towards the restaurant place,
"Would you like something to eat? You must be starving after all that. You lost quite a bit of blood, judging by the bit of a trail you left."

She had enough that she could probably pay for a meal for the poor man. Afterall, if he was in enough trouble to get injured he likely didn't have any money for himself. Probably a debtor or some such. Father said that people who owed others money were often hurt for not paying it.
