Stolen from Flame's old thread, which was stolen from Min's thread. ninja
This is the concept contest RP for Past Legacy Corp. This RP is to test the RP skills and abilities of Remiya. She will be RPing with me, dark77778. We are the only two allowed to post in this thread besides Ethan Reed, the shop's mule. Failure to listen will result in angry PMs and post reporting. Please don't make me do so.
This RP will take place between the existing account Rune and the concept account Ivan. The plot of this RP will be: Mid-term projects are coming up for Rune and Ivan's elementary school, and what do you know? They've been put into the same group! They had originally planned to work on their project at Rune's place, but a recent renovating spree by the flamboyant bartender has rendered the whole place inaccessible. It seems that Ivan will now have to deal with a girl detective entering his home, while they plot together for an overachieving perfect science project.

The Family Legacy: Sherlock Holmes
Account History: Richard is a born and bread Gaian. He’s heard of Sherlock Holmes, but that’s about it. However, he didn’t know that his father’s second cousin in law was really from Earth, and he was a descendant of Doctor Watson. After the death of Sherlock, Watson married and passed down the account through the generations until it came into the possession of Richard’s second cousin in law. By some twist of fate, Richard had the account handed off to him in a poker game that he had beaten his cousin in a few years back. The man had already lost everything that he had on him, including his shirt and underpants; but the man was in such a drunken stupor, and was hard into gambling, that he bet the only thing that he had left on him: they keys to the account of Sherlock Holmes. After realizing what he had done, Richard’s second cousin had tried desperately to get the keys back, but Richard would never allow it; he much more preferred to gloat at his winnings. However, recently curiosity has gotten the best of him, and he wishes to open the account, just to see what of value may wait inside.
Owner: Richard Ackart
Legacy's Name: Rune
Legacy's Sex: Female
Legacy's Ability: Psychometry [look it up on Wiki if you’ve never heard of it ^_^]
Legacy's Personality: Rune will firstly, always have a sense of right from wrong, and who is lying and who isn’t. This will be the basis of her psychometric ability and her baby stage. Her brilliance will also be shown here, though not as From there, she will develop to meddling infant where she will stick her nose in almost everybody’s business and will be needed to be kept an eye on, until she grows a little bit more in maturity into a and to a curious child, where she will need to learn that it’s important to have all the clues before she starts accusing people, and that sometimes it’s best not to let everyone know what she knows. When she hits teen stage, she will then become a full detective girl, solving cases left, right and center, and delivering justice to criminals swiftly, with the authority of a British tomboy. However, hormones and impulse may still lead to some mistakes; ones that may have to do with bad love. After this stage Rune will have experience enough to be the next Master Detective, which she will do with pride, in her youth stage. However, because of this she may get into a few more violent and dangerous situations…and may in fact have a run-in with some of the descendants of Holmes’s old nemesis. Finally, in her adult stage depending on how the pickings are going, she may finally settle down; or she’ll continue to do her job under cover, without her family knowing.
Legacy's Appearance: Firstly, her heirlooms will be Sherlock’s cap. When she grows into a baby, she will have deep blue eyes, fair brown hair and very fair skin. Her eyesight will be good at this point. She’ll also be a little on the podgy side. This weight will transfer over into her toddler stage, in which she’ll obviously be a little taller in, and her hair will be about shoulder length. Here, it’ll be evident that she’ll need glasses, so those will be in order. Also, seeing as how it’s Richard who will be picking out her cloths at this point, she’ll be wearing cloths that match her hat, but ones that are very flamboyant. At around child stage, she’ll have lost some more weight and grown a little taller. As for her pose, she’ll look like she’ll want to do everything and get into trouble. She’ll also have realized Richard’s bad fashion sense and picked out very stylish and sophisticated detective cloths,. Maybe even a skirt at this stage. She still won’t have discovered contact lenses though. Her teeth will be in very good alignment though, but she’ll be a detective and science geek through her early stages, but also very curious. At her teen stage, she’ll start to dress more like a detective, and will have lost all that extra weight. She’ll be tall and stylish with very long hair, but she’ll still have glasses and be very flat chested, as well as having started smoking a pipe. She’ll also have discovered her tomboy and impulsive side, so her pose should reflect this at this stage. Into her youth stage, her impulsiveness will turn into a sense of adventure. Her chest will no longer be flat, and with this new sense of appearance, she’ll discover contact lenses. A lot more attractive now, Rune’ll use it to her advantage to falsely seduce information from people, much to Watson’s disproval. She’ll be inclined to be a lot less violent of a tomboy though, and be proper when needed, and detective-ready when needed. At this point, she’ll have the full female Sherlock Holmes look, but still have her young female personality and experiences inside her. In her adult stage, she’ll have a lot of the fight taken out of her, and she may for once take the Sherlock hat off. However, it’ll still be around for when she or the world needs it. This pose may have her looking like an average, mature adult; but with Watson still looking vigilant, with the Sherlock hat on his head. She'll also have quit smoking by this point too.
Key's Name: Watson
Key's Specie: Basset Hound [A cute one...not an old ugly one]
Key's Personality: Very loyal and protective of Rune. He’d do anything for her, but he’s also just as smart as Rune is, and sometimes surprises her with his keen ideas. However, while Rune may have the brains, Watson seems to have the wisdom. Yet, when the game is afoot, he is sometimes even the first one of the two to be ready to go. He is always alert and has a memory span larger than his ears.
Key's Appearance: First, Watson will be the magnifying glass that the key will turn into once the heirloom has been unlocked. After that, he will become his Basset Hound self. In Rune’s baby stage, Watson will be a cute and cuddly puppy. In Rune’s toddler stage, his pose will change to look as though he’s Rune’s partner and cuddly puppy. In her child stage, Watson will become very protective of Rune and be the first of them to mature in terms of detective work. In Rune’s teen stage, Watson should look very fierce and rebellious, but ready to fight for justice. In Rune’s youth stage, Watson should seem to be almost completely in tune with Rune, and should have the exact same pose as her. In the adult stage, Watson shouldn’t look wrinkled, but just a little more tired, maybe lying down, with the Sherlock cap on his head.
Special Traits/Talents: Rune, because of her early bookworm and science geek nature, is going to have a very good education and knowledge of things. This will help alot in decyphering her psychometric experiences and vibes. She'll have a very good knowledge of almost everything, and like Sherlock, have a very profound power of deduction.
Important Concept Detail: Through some way [either official Past Legacies legacy way {if you choose to}, or just through some revival or relative of] I’m planning to bring back Professor Moriarte [himself or descendant] into the picture around late in Rune’s teen stage, and through to the end of her youth.
Guardian info:
Richard Ackart is a very excited, yet generally confused young man, who is almost as flamboyant in personality, as he is dressed [a vest and Aladdin pants do it for ya?]. About nineteen in age, he attempts at being a modern painter, while working as a bartender in a very expensive and trendy restaurant at the Isle de Gambino. He still gets money from his parents though to pay for his modern looking [though just as flamboyant] condo around the edge of Durem. Richard loves to play games, of any sort; and is usually very good at them. He is also a collector of swords [among some other miscellaneous weaponry] that he keeps locked tight in a cabinet.

The Family Legacy:
Nikola Tesla was hailed as "the patron saint of modern electricity" and "the man who invented the twentieth century." He was born on July 10, 1856 in present-day Croatia, supposedly at midnight during an electric storm. He was one of five children, though his only brother died in a horse-riding accident. Tesla attended school in Karlovac--finishing his studies a year early--and then went on to the Austrian Polytechnic to study electrical engineering. There he researched alternating current, but did not finish his education. He broke off all ties with his family in 1878, and left for Hungary after a nervous breakdown.
In Hungary, Tesla worked for a telegraph company and developed either the amplifier or the first loudspeaker (sources do not agree on which it actually was). In 1882, he moved to Paris, France where he began researching the use of rotating magnetic fields. After his mother's death, he left for New York City, where he worked under Thomas Edison. While Edison was focused on direct current (DC), Tesla wanted to explore the uses of alternating current (AC). Their differences in opinion eventually led Tesla to leave the company and create his own: Tesla Electric Light & Manufacturing.
From there, Tesla contributed countless numbers of inventions and theories to the scientific world. Among them, he investigated X-rays, conceived of wireless transmission, improved flourescent lights, and constructed the induction motor. In the late 1880s, Tesla and Edison entered in "The War of Currents," where both tried to promote AC or DC power, respectively. This 'war' drove them both nearly bankrupt.
Eventually Tesla started designing contraptions that he felt the government would be interested in, such as radio controlled boats and torpedoes. In 1899, he moved his research to Colorado Springs. There he proved that the earth was a natural conductor of electricity, and claimed to have received extraterrestrial radio signals. He left Colorado a year later to do his research on an island near New York. Unfortunately, World War I cut off most of his funding from overseas.
However, the lack of funding did not stop Tesla's research. He established the principles for frequency and power levels for the first radars, as well as began negotiating with the United Kingdom about building a death ray--or particle beam weapon--in the 1920s. His face appeared on the cover of Time magazine in 1931, acknowledging his contributions to electrical engineering. When he was 81, he claimed to have finished a dynamic theory of gravity, but this theory was never published.
Along with Tesla's 100-something patents and numerous contributions to science, his theoretical inventions also piqued the interest of the scientific world. His theories included antigravity airships, teleportation, and time travel, believing that through electricity and magnetism a person could warp time and space. His strangest idea, however, was considered to be what he called "thought photography."
In 1943, Nikola Tesla died of heart failure in his hotel room. The F.B.I. raided his room afterward, and declared all of his research and papers 'top secret.'
And while this might not be historically relevant, Tesla has been referred to in science fiction, comics, video games, movies, and music a great number of times. Probably the most popular reference today is David Bowie's portrayal of him in the film, The Prestige.
Account History: Though the government took most of Tesla's belongings, a few years later his nephew was able to get a hold of some personal effects, which he then donated to a museum. His nephew also created the account for Nikola Tesla, handing the key over with the personal belongings of his uncle. Assuming the key was just another random keepsake, the museum put it on display with everything else. However, just like in every cliche mystery action movie, special objects of unknown significance are bound to get stolen. For the sake of stabbing originality right through the heart, Tesla's key was no exception.
It was just a regular job for Luka Martell and his twin sister, Tihana. Someone of confidential origins decided that everything of Tesla's must be confiscated, including the personal belongings kept at the museum. Something about one of the objects possibly containing instructions for some giant death ray thing...Luka wasn't really paying attention to the motives. All he knew was that he and his sister were getting paid a ton of money to steal a few simple objects. Two days and a successful job later, Luka and Tihana found themselves stuck with a very ornate looking key. Tihana had decided she wanted to add the key to her personal collection, and convinced her brother to 'forget' to mention that the key had been mixed in with Tesla's effects. She didn't know what it was, but it sure looked pretty.
Little did they know there was more to this key than just looks.
Owner: Luka Martell. Even though Tihana took the key, she hates small children--or rather the responsibility that comes along with them--and would thrust the Legacy on Luka as soon as he was born.
Legacy's Name: Ivan
Legacy's Sex: Male
Legacy's Ability: Control over an atmospheric phenomenon called "ball lightning." Ball lightning is when a floating sphere of electricity forms in midair, remaining visible for a few seconds before disappearing. Some reports of ball lightning include explosions. Ivan can create these balls of lightning with incredible focus, but they are highly unstable and are likely to explode in his face if he isn't careful. He cannot use them as projectile weapons, but as long as he remains focused, and stay within a few meters of it, he could keep the ball from disappearing immediately--though the longer he does that, the more likely it is to explode.
Legacy's Personality:
Legacy's Appearance: I'll do this section in bullet points, just to make things easier. For the record, I stink at coming up with appearances, so other than the very basics, most of this will be up to the artist's digression. Forgive repetitiveness.
Key's Name: Edi
Key's Species: Pigeon
Key's Personality: Ivan and Edi will have--shall we say--a very interesting relationship. Edi is intelligent, inventive, and prideful; however, her being a pigeon severely limits her capabilities in those areas. Therefore she acts as the disgruntled partner to Ivan, as well as the Legacy's polar opposite. If Ivan wants to go left, Edi will go right, if only for the sake of disagreement. If it's Ivan's idea, it's doomed to failure. If it's her idea, well then Ivan would just be a complete idiot not to do exactly as she tells him to do, because she's always right, of course. She's all to happy to point out Ivan's flaws, mistakes, and how much of a social failure he is, while praising her own self-proclaimed perfection. One might call her bitter, but never do so to her face. Those tiny talons can be pretty sharp. Oh, and she will cover Ivan in pigeon dung without a second thought.
Key's Appearance:
Special Traits/Talents: Telsa had a lot of quirks that ostracized him from society and marked him as a mad scientist. I would like Ivan to inherit most of these quirks. They are as follows:
As for special talents, Ivan is extremely skilled at building things and taking them apart. They may not work exactly as he'd like them too, but they do function on a minimal level. For example, he might one day build his fabled "death ray," but it may only be able to shoot down mosquitoes in the backyard as opposed to aircraft like it was intended to. Or if he takes apart the television and puts it back together, it might be permanently stuck on the Japanese cooking channel.
Important Concept Detail: I think I covered everything!

The Almighty Wikipedia
The single strangest invention Tesla ever proposed was probably the "thought photography" machine. He reasoned that a thought formed in the mind created a corresponding image in the retina, and the electrical data of this neural transmission could be read and recorded in a machine. The stored information could then be processed through an artificial optic nerve and played back as visual patterns on a viewscreen.

- Tesla's designs for a particle beam weapon stemmed from his research on ball lightning. He was also one of the first to try and scientifically explain how it occurs naturally.
Not that this sounds entirely safe, but according to Wikipedia and video records on YouTube, you can create a very similar phenomenon--called plasma balls--by microwaving a lit match. If you have a spare microwave lying around your kitchen, feel free to observe.
Legacy's Personality:
- Baby
Ivan's not exactly the most normal baby of the bunch. Yes, he poops, drools, and burps like every other infant; however, he's not a very demanding baby. He rarely cries, which makes Luka's job that much harder to figure out when he's hungry, needs a diaper change, or requires burping assistance. While he can't speak or move his head much quite yet, he sure does love looking around at everything. One of those hanging mobiles will keep him entertained for hours on end. Shiny or flickering things seem to capture his attention the most.
Toddler
The terrible toddler stage. Even at this stage he's a boy of few words. Still, that doesn't mean that he's not curious enough to touch everything. Ivan is a hazard to everything in the house, mostly because it will be dismantled if easily possible. Unfortunately, he doesn't yet understand that he has to clean up his messes, meaning Luka'll be the one stuck with the task of putting the electric can opener back together. The outside world also piques Ivan's interest, especially during lightning storms. Fortunately for his guardian, Ivan insists on being autonomous, picking out his own clothes, eating his food by himself, and using the big-boy toilet without assistance. This does not mean that he excels at these tasks, but he will get fussy if someone tries to help.
In regards to meeting other people, Ivan will not initiate conversation. He has no interest in searching out people to play with, but doesn't mind if they come to him. For a toddler he's fairly polite, but even with the few words he can say, he can be very blunt without realizing it's offensive.
Child
By this age, Ivan's an enthusiastic bundle of curiosity and never-ending questions. He must know 'why' to everything around him, even if he knows he probably won't understand the answer. Now that he can read, he's started to build up his own library and goes through at least one chapter book a week. He still enjoys taking just about everything apart--especially now that he's discovered 'tools'--but at least now he tries to put them back together. And while he'd prefer to call it an 'organized mess,' his room looks like a tornado of papers and scrap metal ran through it on a daily basis. However, it is a very clean mess, as he makes sure to clean up all the oil and other various gross, sticky chemicals.
Though he's forced to have his nagging Key around almost all the time, Ivan prefers to be left to his own devices. He's a fairly private boy and doesn't let too many people get close. This is not to say he won't make friends. In fact, he acts quite friendly when approached in public. Rather, it's when people try to get into his business that he puts up barriers. Unfortunately, he still has reservations about initiating contact with people, and can still be very blunt. He'll claim that he's just being honest, but won't understand why others get defensive about it.
And like any young boy, Ivan does have a streak of mischievousness. That ball lightning stuff he makes work great for explosive traps so long as he's hiding in the bushes nearby.
Teen
While Ivan would like to believe he was above the petty desires and whims of hormones and teenage woes, he's subject to them like anyone else. Girls are new territory for him, but he keeps a firm hold on himself to stay focused on what he believes is truly important. Though he might feel attracted to a girl, he believes that romantic relationships are nothing but distractions from his work. He will talk to girls, be friends with them, and even maybe go to dinner with one, but he will never go beyond 'friend.'
Self-consciousness is another inner demon that keeps creeping along Ivan's teenage mind. He's become very concerned about outward appearance: how one's dressed, how you hold yourself, and how respectable you look. His bluntness gets the better of him at times when he disapproves of someone else's appearance. Everything must be clean, pressed, and matching. He'll constantly ask Luka if he's doing everything right, or if there's something he needs to improve himself on. Doing it 'right' is of utmost importance to him, which leads to loads of self-doubt and second guessing during this stage.
Now that he's older and can understand scientific concepts on a more abstract level, Ivan has started to create things of his own. His inventions may not be entirely practical, or they might not work as he intended, but most of them seem to fill some purpose. Unfortunately he has yet to find a real job, meaning he steals his parts from various appliances around the house.
In regards to his friends, he's still very private except with maybe one or two very close companions. He's fond of the occasional scheme or prank, and is more than happy to build the right machine for the job. He likes to show off his skills, and his presentation is nothing less than the best. However, there are lines he won't cross, and will sometimes get cold feet right at the last minute.
Oh, and he's just starting to show a strange fascination with the number three. ((see 'special traits/talents' for the explanation for this))
Youth
Though Ivan still borders on self-conscious, he's gained enough confidence to come to terms with the fact that he will make mistakes in life. That doesn't mean he particularly likes that realization, but it's something he's learning to live with. One of the ways he copes with this is to be overly critical of other people, along with himself. Unfortunately, he's not afraid to tell someone when he dislikes something about them. Still now, he's devoted himself to a life of celibacy, considering his work to be his one true love. Speaking of his work, his inventions are getting more and more complex as time goes on. Some of them may even be dangerous.
The obsession with the number three has become more prominent in his everyday life. He prefers to do things in threes, buy things in threes, and live on the third floor. Unfortunately, this makes him very uncomfortable when he's unable to fulfill this obsession with three. It's just not right to him, and can lead him to be restless, irritable, and even cause him to cry if it bothers him enough--which can lead to some very embarrassing situations. The same applies to anything he deems to be 'dirty.'
Despite this, he tries his best to be a great showman. Presentation is everything, and he strives to impress. He's polite and charming to a point, and definitely well-learned. However, he's grown to be able to hold one hell of a grudge, and he's not above revenge. Even if the person apologizes or has something terrible happen to them, he will continue to hate them to the very core until the end of time.
Adult
Finally, Ivan has become a man. Though fully grown, he still retains some of the petty qualities of his youth. He can be vindictive, offensively blunt, prone to schemes, and overly critical of other people to hide his own inferiority complex. However, he has a brilliant mind and talent for inventing things. Some of what he builds now seems to defy logic at times--though inventions of these kind tend to work only once or not at all when it comes to showing other people.
His obsessions with three and cleanliness have grown worse, making it that much harder to get through the day. If it hasn't been washed three times, then it's not clean enough to wear or touch without gloves. If he's not working on the third floor, the invention is bound to fail. If he doesn't brush his teeth for exactly three minutes, then he can't leave the house or go to sleep until he's done so. The only good thing about this is that he remains very clean and stuff stays mostly organized.
As for his good qualities, he makes for a great conversationalist, a wonderful partner-in-crime (depending on the circumstances), and an amazing showman. He will help those in need, provided they're either close friends or can pay the right price.
Just don't get on his bad side, or else he will get back at you somehow.
Legacy's Appearance: I'll do this section in bullet points, just to make things easier. For the record, I stink at coming up with appearances, so other than the very basics, most of this will be up to the artist's digression. Forgive repetitiveness.
- Heirloom
- A small Tesla Coil, no bigger than maybe a foot tall. [ref] [ref]
Baby
- Green eyes
- Darkish brown hair, even if it's only a tuft on top of his head
Toddler
- Green eyes
- More darkish brown hair, probably reaching to his ears by now
- Clothes should be something that looked like a toddler picked out all by himself ((i.e. possibly mismatched shoes or socks?))
Child
- Green eyes
- Hair reaching to the back of his neck
- Glasses
- Clothes should be casual, but something a well-dressed casual person would wear
Teen
- Green eyes
- Hair should be long enough to pull back into a loose ponytail
- Glasses
- Clothes same as above
- Slight build, but strong arms. Building all that stuff takes muscle, y'know.
Youth
- Same as above, but obviously looking older
Adult
- Same as above, but a little more haggard looking. OCD and stress do not an unwrinkled face make.

Key's Name: Edi
- Edi is named for Thomas Edison, albeit a feminine version of him for the key. From 1884-1885, Tesla worked for his electric company. Tesla was offered $50,000 to completely redesign one of Edison's more inefficient inventions. However, once he completed the task and asked for payment, Edison merely said, "Tesla, you clearly don't understand our American humor." Since then, the two hated each other for the rest of their lives. Supposedly, it was because of their animosity toward one another that they were both denied the Nobel Prize in 1915.
Key's Species: Pigeon
- Tesla had a strange obsession with pigeons, going so far as to buy special feed for the ones in the park where he lived. Sometimes he even brought them into his hotel room. Before he died, he claimed to have been visited by a white pigeon every day.
- Key
- I honestly have no clue. I'll leave this up to the artist, as I'm sure they'd come up with something that'd make more sense/look more appealing than what I would come up with 8D;;
Baby
A small white egg that's maybe an inch in diameter.
Toddler
A scruffy looking baby bird with yellow-white feathers.
Child
The yellow coloration is gone, leaving only bright white feathers. Edi should be looking more like a pigeon now, instead of a haggard ball of fluff.
Teen
Edi should be mostly fully grown by this stage. [ref]
Youth
Same as above, maybe slightly larger--but no taller than Ivan's head.
Adult
Same as above.
Special Traits/Talents: Telsa had a lot of quirks that ostracized him from society and marked him as a mad scientist. I would like Ivan to inherit most of these quirks. They are as follows:
- OCD centered around the number three. Like Tesla in his later years, Ivan will develop a strange obsession with the number three by the teen stage. As a note, I do have personal experience with OCD tendencies and understand how it can affect everyday life. I'm not throwing on this psychological quirk just for the hell of it, nor because I think it's cool.
Fear of germs and touching round objects.
Photographic memory when it comes to books.
Overly critical of fashion, to the point of where Ivan will not walk beside a person if he disapproves of their clothing. Tesla was known to send his secretary home to change for the same reasons.
Dedicated vegetarian.
Strong believer in a lifetime of celibacy.
