For those of you with FCs, here are the brief physical descriptions of them so you can start RPing!

Sukutu - Sukutu looks a lot like his sister; dark brown, with a black tail and scruff of mane. He also has the same light purple eyes...odd, to say the least.

Walii - Like all of the Firekin, Walii has a shade of red to her pelt; in her case, it's a deep wine-red. She has lighter paws, muzzle, and underbelly. Her eyes are a soft blue.

Jifyo - Jifyo has the usual rusty-red coat of the Firekin, along with beautiful yellow eyes. She has lighter colored muzzle and underbelly, as well as paws, and along her shoulder there's an odd little design that looks like the risen sun.

Kiyowe - Kiyowe, like her brother, is dark brown, with a black tail. She has very light purple eyes, a rarity in her kind.

Mwinda - Mwinda has a slightly reddish pelt, with darker points and dark brown eyes.

Maawio - Kind of on the scrawny side, a golden-brown pelt with soft creamy accents on her toes, muzzle, paws, and underneath her eyes. She also has a dot of white on the back of each ear. Her tail is a dark brown color, while her eyes are a brilliant baby blue. Plain, but pretty.

Kiu - A massive adult lion with a rust-red pelt and a dark brown mane with black streaking through it. He's got creamy paws, underbelly, muzzle, and the area beneath his eyes. He's got dark upside-down triangular marks (four on each side) down each cheek. His tail-tuft is the same color as his mane.

Dama -- She's got a very soft gray coat with almost blue accents to it, and a little scruff of 'bangs' running down into her face. Her ears are a darker color than her body, but her points (underbelly, muzzle, paws) are all a lighter color. Her tail is a white puff behind her. She looks pretty lanky and lean...she's beginning to take on a decidedly scruffy look, as well.

08.03.04 Sorry for the lack of updates in the past few days! I've been busy. smile Added some more species below, and I'm moving the territory and the major parts of the prides/packs over to the guild. I also updated the Mistweaver and Pridelands first posts at the guild, so don't forget to check those out if you have the time! I'll be doing some major editting of the front page and the rest of the guild over the next few days, and uploading some more FCs - sorry for the delay! Breeding is also open.

07.27.04 Since I needed to test out the leopard lineart before I did RainFox's custom, there's a surprise auction for a little leopard cub here.

07.26.04 I wish I could change the title of the thread! Anyways, several new people have been cast, and the RP held on Sunday night went off fairly well...thank you for those of you that could make it on such short notice. RPing will now be done entirely at the guild, in their respective threads, but I'll be sending a PM around explaining this, and other things. ^___^

07.25.04 Since Gaia decided to play not so nicely with us last night, we'll be holding off the RP until another day (the date of which has not been set).

07.24.04 Added some new FAQ.

07.23.04 Tomorrow at 7:00 PM PST we'll be starting the plots for the Firekin and Pridelands prides, which includes the birth of Jua's cubs and the presentation of little Simba. I encourage you all to be there if you can, FC and non-FC alike. If you don't have a character, and you'd like to RP, you're welcome to RP a bird or preybeast character, if you'd like to join in. smile

How can I get one?
You can get one through a flat sale, a raffle, or an auction. Flat sales are 2000G per creature, and you may only buy one per flat sale.

My creature isn't growing! ;_; Why is that?
Because you're not RPing. While RP with this pet is not required, it is a requirement if you want your creature to grow. When I see you RPing frequently in the thread, I will grow your pet. If you don't RP, your pet stays 'stuck' in whatever stage it was last in.

How do I get to be a Lion King/Queen?
You RP constantly in the thread and are OOCly courteous to others. It doesn't matter what personality your character has...they can be cruel and nasty, or kindly and noble, or down-to-earth and normal. When I choose a King (or Queen), they are able to choose their own Queen (or King), and then they are given a territory to start a pride in. The same principal applies to all the different species.

How many may I have?
As many as you want. There's no limit.

What's this thing about naming?
The names you give your characters should be African-sounding. No Billy or Bob or Sara or anything like that. If you need help, here's a link to a very excellent Swahili Dictionary.

Do you do pet trades?
No. I don’t really feel this is entirely fair to people to pick and choose which pets I’d like to trade for, so…no.

Do you do customs?
Since I don’t do pet trades, I’ve reluctantly opened customs at a very high price, to discourage too many people from getting them. I’m not expecting anybody to ask for one, however, since they’ll be 400K apiece (in donation items/gold). But if there’s one special cub you’d like, and you don’t mind paying that price…well, here’s a way to get one. Customs will always go to adulthood, no matter if you’re in the thread Rping or not. Species that I will do for customs currently: Lion, Leopard. There will be custom auctions in the future.

How do I get an FC?
If you see an FC with an [Available] after it’s name, that means the FC doesn’t have an Rper yet. Please send me the name of the character you’d like, along with a sample of your RP skills, and we’ll see! These characters are 100% free…but if you don’t show up in the thread to RP, you might have your FC privileges revoked. I won’t be a nazi about this, though…if you need a break or are going on vacation, just PM me! I just don’t want to see someone showing up every two months or so to RP. ^__^

Lions are the only truly 'social' cat of Africa. They live in prides of anywhere from three to sixty individuals. They are quite high on the food chain, but a rogue lion will generally have more trouble staying alive than a pridal would; nomadic life is rough. They have one to six cubs per litter. They have four stages: Cub, Juvenile, Adolescent, and Adult. Rares that may occur: White lions, barbary lions.

Pridal Positions:

King(s): The Kings are the males of the pride, who defend the pride and their territory from any possible threats. There can be up to two Kings in a pride (usually brothers or cousins).

Queen: There is only one Queen of the pride; she is the head of the lionesses, and the head King's mate. She must keep strife within the pride to a minimum, and is responsible for keeping order in the pride.

Heir/Heiress: The lion, or lioness, that will become the next King or Queen of the pride. It is usually (but not always) the firstborn offspring of both the head King and the Queen. They must learn the duties of their position and gain a working knowledge of how to be a leader.

Prince/Princesses: The other offspring of the head King and the Queen of the pride, and (normally) the siblings to the heir/heiress. They have no special duties, except to guard their brother's (or sister's) back against danger. A prince or princess will take the place as heir/heiress if the first heir/heiress dies.

Lord/Lady: The siblings of the current King (or Queen) are always styled 'my lord' or 'my lady.' The Lords are the only grown males accepted into the pride (other than the King(s) or Heir). The duties of a Lord or Lady function much the same as a prince or princess.

Head Huntress: A lioness within the pride that has talent at coordinating the hunts. She must be skilled at tracking and bringing down game, whether alone or with the entire pride.

Huntress: A lioness that goes on the hunts and whose job it is to bring down game for the pride. They must be adept at finding and bringing down prey.

Guard: A lioness who, for whatever reason, does not wish to join the huntresses may live in the pride as a guard. These positions are generally given to the more anti-social of the lionesses; they spend long hours outside of the pride and roaming the lands against attackers.

Storyteller: A storyteller is a generally a lioness with a working knowledge of the history of the pride; they tell stories for entertainment to the pride and teach the young one's about their past or the pride's religion.

Nanny: A lioness in the pride who's job it is to look after the youth of the pride and try to keep them out of their parent's hair. She must be patient but firm, and understanding.

Youth: Any cub or juvenile in the pride that is not the prince/princess or heir/heiress is simply termed 'youth.'

Leopards are one of the many solitary great cats. They are well-renewed for being perhaps the greatest climbers; they spend most of their lives above the treetops. They have rosettes, much like a jaguar, but lacking the dot in the middle. Occasionally, leopards will be born dark gray/black with black spots; then they are sometimes termed a 'panther.' Leopards can have one to four cubs. They have four stages: Cub, Juvenile, Adolescent, and Adult. Rares that may occur: Panther.

Like leopards, cheetahs are primarily solitary animals...but they may form small coalitions in the wild. They are one of the only great cats that cannot roar. Small and lithe, they are also the fastest of the great cats, and can run short distances at amazing speeds. They may have one to four cubs. They have four stages: Cub, Juvenile, Adolescent, and Adult. Rares that may occur: King Cheetah.

Coalition positions:

Alpha: The leader of the coalition; there is only one, and it can be a male or a female. Normally a herited position, but it can be taken by an ambitious individual.

Beta: The second-in-command, often the leader's sibling or mate.

Scout: The members that are often used to scout out the territory and report back to the alpha or beta about their findings.

Coalition Member: Any other member of the coalition that isn't an alpha, beta, or scout.

Hyenas, in the African world, are treated often as the scum of the earth; probably because of their looks and brutal siblicide habits than anything. They certainly don't scavange anymore than a lion or leopard would; they are quite able at hunting in their packs. There are four species of hyena: the brown, spotted, striped hyenas, and the aardwolf (which eats only termites). They may have one to four pups in a litter. They have four stages: Pup, Juvenile, Adolescent, and Adult.

Clan Positions

Alpha Female: The high-ranking hyena in a clan is always a female. In the alpha's litter, only the strongest female pup survives out of the females, as she will kill her sisters as soon as possible.

Heiress: The alpha female's daughter that will eventually take over the clan when her mother dies. Sometimes, if the alpha female does not have any pups for whatever reason, it can be a niece or a young relation to the alpha female that takes the heiress position.

Beta: The second-in-command, quite often another female, but occasionally a male will take this place.

Clan Members: All other clan members that don't have a specific position within the clan. Often the hunters.

Youth: The young of the clan that are too young to yet hunt are collectively termed as 'youth.'

The wild dog is usually colored in brilliant patterns of black, golden brown, white, and deep brown. They are fantastic hunters, and live in small packs. There can be two to nineteen pups in a litter. They have four stages: Pup, Juvenile, Adolescent, and Adult.

Pack Positions

Alpha Female: Like the hyena, wild dogs follow a dominant female; however, they do not practice siblicide. The alpha female is adored within the pack and followed devoutly.

Pack Members: All other members follow the dominant female; there is no second-in-command. This includes pups and other youth.

Breeding works a bit differently here than it does in other threads. Once your character has a mate, the female must find a safe place (via RP) to have the cubs in, whether it be a pridal den or some cave or thicket. You then OOCly need to find people (check the 'species' area above to see how many cubs your creature can have) to RP/own your characters' offspring. You then inform me of who these are, and set up a date so that you all can be here to RP the birth. Each cub's owner must pay the flat sale price of 2000G per cub.

Your cubs will arrive then, and you each choose a cub to own. Parents's owners can each only choose one cub out of any of their litters to RP, so choose wisely! The parents then must wait until all their offspring have gone to adolescence before having another litter again.

If you have a female, you may also choose to have your character bred with a rogue. This 'rogue' will have either left or died, and may not be roleplayed, but the female will be pregnant and have cubs. In this situation, however, the female may only have up to half the total number of cubs/pups/kits that their species may have as a maximum (for example, a lioness that mates with a nameless rogue to have cubs can only have up to three cubs).
