NEWS: Alright...After asking all of the entrants who have stopped by for me to ask, I've come to the decision that I will be removing one pair of minis from the prize cache. This will be teh set that the 1st prize winner does not choose. This set will be held by a friend until my probably one month return in December during winter break from college. In that month I will be holding a second contest. I encourage you to enter that one as well to take a shot at the minis.

I am very sorry to those I disappoint, but I feel that one set of minis and a devil tail should be sufficient enough for the big prizes and I do have other categories. I desperately want to run the second contest, and if I give away both pairs of minis, I will have no ability to do so. One month is not long enough to gather sufficient funding for a contest once more when it took me six to eight months to gather enough for this.

If you wish to see the results of the questioning, please go down to the Misc post in this thread. You can find which it is on the table of contents below in this post. To those who are supporting me in this, despite the chances of gaining minis being significantly reduced, thank you. I appreciate it more than I can really say. I hope you will join me for the second contest.

I've recently been swayed by further work with Yoki.. and next time I would like to make it a contest that not only uses her, but will more importantly include her partners, whom are all listed below from her original (and forever incomplete story) to two others (provided permission is given) that belong to other friends whom I rp with, using her.

This is completely selfish of me, I know.. but I feel I would not have any hope of getting any entries to that contest. A month would not be long enough for me to gather the cache I gained for this one, and I will likely not be on Gaia in between the time I leave and return.


Greetings to all, and welcome to my leaving Gaia bash. Like WoefulInfinity, my time on Gaia is dwindling. with less then 2 months until I leave (but we won't get into all that =P). This contest is my final hurrah, the last thing I can and want to do on the site before I'm off. So I hope you'll all come in, want to work with it and leave me heaps of awesome art =3

Height: 5'11" to 6' even
Figure: Slender in shape, possessing the dancer's body. Long legs, well toned and musclar, but not to the point of overdoing it. Think supermodel build? Tummy is flat and toned. Bust is proportionate.
Skin: - If mortal, it's bronze.
- If vampire, it's pale as alabaster. Just a step up from albino
Eyes: Slim, slanted and silver in color
Hair: Long and tightly waved, raven. Highlights when struck by light are red, violet, or blue. It varies in length every night, for as a vampire what she cuts off will grow back by the following night. (If mortal it's to her ankles)

Personality and background: Yokiko is a somewhat emotionally unstable character, prone to lapses of silence and mood swings. To put it simply, she goes through Hell and back with a lot of personality growth. I'll break it down into the time frames and what you'd find.

-Beginning/mortal stages: In these times, Yokiko was still with her family, living in an area much like the Nile Delta. Her family was of the lwoer class agriculture type, farming by the river. Her father would take the shares of crops and waters to the deep desert via caravan, often bringing Yoki and her twin brother, Yeijiro, along. Living in such an environment often gave her a large chance to view other cultures of the world and to learn integration with them.

At home she lived with her father, step-mother, twin, and younger step-sisters Melissa and Helen. Her mother had died of disease, leaving her widowed father to remarry. She never really forgave him completely and was always somewhat distant of her step-mother, despite her love and affection for her sisters. In her youth she was very awkward, struggling with her long limbs. She began to dance in order to help get some semblance of grace. This became a life-long love and near obssession of hers, keeping her very fit. When the drought came, her family could not support themselves as well, leaving her to work in taverns to help financially, which was where she met her Maker, Kokuei. During this time period, Yoki was a very vivid girl, full of happiness and humor. She was also very much a spit-fire.

- Fledgeling Vampire: Yokiko's change to vampirism was a brutal and unwilling experience. She had been intended to simply be a servant and toy to her Sire, Kokuei in the hidden nation of vampires, Aurelius. However, his 'father', Demonique, had other ideas. Kokuei, the Imperial Crown Prince instead gained a consort, and Yokiko became Princess of Aurelius, much to her displeasure. In her time at Aurelius, Yoki grew to be a rebellious child, but often at the expense of her own health. Just to anger her Lord Prince, she would go without feeding for as long as she could, making him often force her to do so. But being in Aurelius took its toll on her, and her personality began to shift drastically. While she's still very emotional, she learned very quickly to wear a mask to hide them and her thoughts. She plays the role of the perfect charming and witty Princess. Inwardly she is often raging and upset to quiet and depressive. Always is she lonely. Her only brightness in that realm are two people: Prince Casimir, Kokuei's younger brother, and Casimir's Amir (general), Keefer. Only when she is with them does she let down some of her masks. Sadly, Aurelius destroyed her true smile.

- Rogue vampire: After nearly two centuries of time in Aurelus, the kingdom abruptly loses its ruler, causing the Great Schism to occur. Kokuei unceremonially ascends the throne, but power struggles are already going on. Yoki had been conspiring with Prince Casimir for a time when Kokuei had begun to set things she could never agree, nor live with in motion. She flees with Casimir and his group. However, she soon breaks away from them, too. Her guilt upon leaving one she loved with another she loved just as much threatened to tear her apart. She loved her Maker dearly, yet hated him at the same time. In the 200 years she had been in Crimson Valley, home of Aurelius, she had also grown to fall in love with Casimir and Keefer. However, word of it never escaped her lips and the admission to herself had been awful. Trying not to hurt anyone else, she begins her travels and is shortly joined by Aracelis Kamaria, her complete opposite. Ara was bright, bubbly, energetic and talkative, always serving to lighten Yoki's burdens. She had been sent to keep watch on Yoki and to aid her, though it wasn't revealed till much later. Through the course of her travels, Yoki came to value Aracelis as a close friend, despite her extreme distrust in the beginning. She is often accompanied by others as well, ranging from the cross dressing merchant, Ali to the scholar Akira. She is also often in the company of Boguslaw, the child she had refused to kill years ago (and consequntly been punished severely), who is also now king of the Tellu to Alaric and Akhil, Princes of the Terra Mag sect. Along the way she is constantly harrassed by Lady Carey, sinuous and decidedly nasty enchantress who had slithered her way into Kokuei's bed, constantly using poison to affect his judgement and bend him to her whims. There is a great deal to this, as it is the main chunk of her story. She learns first to relinquish her usually pacifistic. self-pitying tendencies and fight with sais and then to fight with a sword. The end of it comes horribly. Aurelius is completely destroyed, and many of the people she comes to love are killed, Boguslaw, Aracelis, Casimir, Kokuei, and presumably Keefer among them. After this is is completely shattered, especially after losing half her soul in Kokuei's death. She picks up the pieces though, and rebuilds herself completely anew. However, this Yokiko is cold and merciless, uncaring of whom she kills. No longer must it be a brigand. Innocents tasted just the same to her.

- Future: The story skips thousands of years, finding Yoki far into the future as an Ancient vampire and one of the last remaining Aurelians. She has worked to become a rather infamous assassin whom no one ever really sees. That guise is covered by her daytime activities as a college student. In that period of time, she grew to become a Daywalker. However, in sunlight her abilities are significantly reduced. In this period of time, the military has come to awareness that her presence is not just myth and seek to capture her and make her the leader of legions of artificially produced vampires who are reckless and obnoxious, knowing no real power to quell them. With the power of the Gate inside her, she could veritably destroy all of them in one swoop, or even the world if she let go. However, she cares not for either of them, abiding by her promise to Aracelis as she died. This leads her into more messes of trouble, this time with new weaponry in guns and the like. She makes it through, and somewhere along the lines a certain Amir happens to come into the picture. Keefer didn't die, but had gone nearly insane for a long time after the death of his bond-mate and best friend, Casimir. Once he finds her, Yoki's personality begins to meld into a mix of her mortal years and vampirism. She begins to lose her complete seriousness and to smile again, though it takes a long time of healing and affection. She calms down enough to generally leave innocents alone when feeding, which was and always had been a delicate affair for her.

Relationships: Yoki has a great deal of relationships with people, whether it be friend, lover or foe. Here' a quick run down on some of the more prominant ones.

Kokuei: Yoki at first hates her Sire, which is likewise returned. Gradually, however, the two do fall in love to a strange extent. It's a love-hate relationship, with the two being more similar then they'd see. In front of the Court, they always hated each other, often exchanging veiled verbal insults and challenges through dancing, which both were widely known for. Them on teh dancefloor was a greatly anticipated thing. Behind closed doors, it was not always so. When she could not sleep, for example, Yoki would slip into Kokuei's bed via the hidden corridors, and simply sleep with her head on his shoulder. She never knew he'd always wake before she got there, easily feeling her turbulent emotions through the shared bond of sire and child. Nor did she ever find out he'd always induce a soft sleep draft, tracing patterns on her back and running his fingers silently thorugh her hair until she slept. She'd always wake early and go back to her own rooms and they'd pretend nothing ever happened, just as they pretended what went on in their rooms together never happened. Not a kiss, not a caress.

Casimir: To anyone's eyes, Yokiko and Casimir were like best friends. They were often spotted walking together chatting about a book both ahd read. But to everyone but themselves it was obvious they loved each other. The two of them never said anything of the sort, but Yoki often went to him for comfort, especially when Kokuei had especially upset her. Hidden away, often in the Sakura grove, Casimir was often the one to wipe away her tears and give her a hug, however brief, when she needed it. It wasn't until the last time that she saw him, just before he died, that Yoki admitted her feelings to him.

Keefer: Keefer was like another best friend. When she was crying he'd tickle her until she couldn't stop laughing. He often used humor to lighten things up, and longed for her silently, knowing that his best friend was head over heels for her. He rooted Casimir on, despite his care for Yoki. Towards him, Yoki probably took the longest to realize how her love, despite his shameless and harmless flirting with her. She turned to him to simply talk to and relax when things became too much.

Aracelis: Aracelis was Yoki's best friend and confidant, even though the girl often had to pry things from Yoki, due to her very personal nature.

Scenery description: Some of the places in this story have a very detailed decription. For those of you taht dare to try it, here's info for you.

Crimson Valley: This is the home of the vampires. It is a separate dimension with a greatly advanced speed in time. There are no animals but the hybrids that are bred in the pavillion and the landscape consists of only grass, roses (primarily black and red), Sakura trees, Wisteria, and Love-Lies-Bleeding trees. Everything in this dimention has a spirit trapped inside of it, so various places within will hold a very different feel.

Aurelius: This is the "castle" itself in Crimson Valley. It's made up of a dark marble stone, each block containing wraiths with a very demonic demeanor. They will seize any opportunity to drive one mad like themselves. In reality, it was a cathedral that the vampires overtook. 13 spires split the sky, and from the tallest trails along the River of Souls. During the night, thousands of torces light the walls of the castle, making it appear made of gold. The upper areas of Aurelius are decorated in a rather gaudy fashion, always in blacks, blood reds, and golds. Even the windows, gilt in dizzying patterns of gold, are tinted red. When it rains, it's like they cry blood as its vampire inhabitants would. Suits of mail line the walls like soldiers to attention, making it difficult to tell who is a guard and what is not. The gargoyles are fierce looking things and sculptures depict people in their last throes of death, relishing in the terror and silent screams. In essence, it's a gorgeous but terrifying place. There are many forgotton places in the castle to which corridors often lead. Ballrooms and simply rooms shut off. The lower levels past the wine cellar are the catacombs. These are dank and dark with walls that seem to peel like flesh..

Blood Lake: It gains its name because of the red color of the water. Though the water is the color of blood, it does not have the consistency of it. There is a reserved, calming feeling. Its banks are a floor of Sakura petals, branches of which often hang over the waters. It's situated in the middle of the Sakura Grove, found only by a hidden path. Yoki often had habit of wading into it to calm herself.

Sakura Grove: Here is the one place of peace within Crimson Valley. The trees in this thick copse of Sakura exude a soothing feeling, something which Yoki often seeks. Many times she has been caught sleeping up on one of the ancient branches, including her first encounter with Keefer.

Yoki's "home": When she was mortal, Yoki lived in a port town in a river delta close to the sea. However, it was also a desert town, which has a grea influence on her tastes in clothing and music from time to time.

Misc:

Vampirism: The vampires in this story are not traditional ones. They are a mix between the many types I have seen and read about with some additional assest taken and subtracted by myself. I wanted a fantasy world, so they have magery abilities, as well as being the highest rank of demons in the Umbran sect. However, to do this made them damn near God-like, so I knocked them down a few pegs. They can be poisoned, drowned, etc to death. But a lot of the typical things I took out like the garlic, holy water, crosses, wall crawling, transforming into wolves/bats, etc.

Abilities:

Magery: Air elementalist and later strong shadow command. Has telepathy, etc.

Physical: Sais, sword fighting, guns in future.

Loves: Dancing (Any type), playing her violin

Pets:
Umolian: Hybrid cat/dragon. He's got sleek black fur and red eyes, traditionally slitted. Dragon wings adorn his back, slightly tinted red. Has scaled from under the neck to the tip of his tail, as well as on the backs of his legs. Paws are clawed. Always wears a gold and ruby diadem, bracelet around his paw and tail.

Raktia:Dragon/butterfly hybrid Is a tiny dragon small enough to sit on her shoulder, often wraps taila bout her neck making it seem like a choker. Copper in color, has butterfly wings.

Kage: A demon dog/wolf. Stark black, long fur, has a mane of it about the head, which is long and slender. Gray eyes.
Clothing: As a mortal, Yoki wore desert clothing, usually in reds, violets, or blues. In Aurelius she always wore intricate gowns with ribbons lacing the backs, often a lot of beading and the like. Futuristic setting, the sky's the limit ^^ Have fun with it, she has no set costume.

Physical description: Kokuei proudly stands tall around 6'2" with a muscular (not overly so) build. He has slim carnelian red eyes and strong features. His hair is a midnight blue color, falling to probably the back of his knees. It's either pulled back into a low horsetail, or left free with wild bangs hanging in his eyes.
Personality: Can be very authoritative, extremely possessive of Yoki. He's always cool and calm, subtlely irritating his consort. He, however, can be affectionate, but such displays are hard to come by. Sometimes they merely consist of a companionable silence between him and Yoki in the evening.
Abilities: Kokuei holds prominent power over shadows and spirit force. Also has telepathy among other vampiric traits.

Physical description: This guy has a runner's body, often very sleek and muscled. He's rather tall and lanky. Feline green eyes are always sparkling with the latest gossip and mirth beneath the wild and ruddy red hair, often with a sunkissed look of highlights.
Personality: Keefer is the life of the gossip at Aurelius, and also a supreme prankster, going so far as to often dump Yoki in Crimson Lake, clothes and all for no reason. He's rarely serious, yet always considerate of others.
Abilities: Works mainly with an earthen element and the other vampiric elements of shadow, telepathy, etc.

In response to your new update Tenica: ^-^ I really believe that you are under no obligation to give us any of your items that you've worked so hard one way or another to obtain. Tht's why I feel that if you'd like to take one of the minis as a prize for another contest, then you should. They're your items, expensive and rare ones at that.. you should get the most for them.

I have to say, that I just drawn the picture of Yokiko 'cause I saw Firns second entry. She has showed it in our Guild. So I've searched the Thread here at the Art Contests, read the background Story of Yoki and drawn her - 'cause I want to improve myself. AND Drawning ist Fun, the prices doesn't matter that much. It's a nice effect of a contest, not more, for me wink So, do what you want ^^ smile

Of course it'll be a little bit dissappointing especially now when the contest is almost over... but anyways, devil's tail is a very good second prize too. Actually I am agains your possible decision to keep one pair of mini wings for you (or for later contests), because this will meen that I have absolutely no chance of getting them, but - it's your item and your choice what to do with it. Giving away even one pair of miniwings and a devil tail as prices is already very generous, so I don't think that anyone who takes part in the contest has the right to demand from you to give away both mini wings, even though you said that the 2nd price will get mini wings as well. I think everyone here will unerstand it if you keep one pair of wings for you. At least I would understand it even thoug I put so much work into the drawings because of this wings.
