Rasu's Shelf[color=white]
<center>{My house is on the bottom, right next to the two large HQ buildings.}
The house sits snugly into the hollow of an old tree branch. In a patch of mushrooms near a poorly crafted sign that reads "RASU" sits a tiny fox that seems to be acting as a mini sentry, and a small caged cricket that chirps musically.

Inside the house, near the back of the sits the charged and hollow remains of the nest relic. Surrounding it are are several bottles, one of which seems to give off a warm, sparkling light and another that glows irridescently in low light.

Behind a small bed are several wall scrolls that act as a backdrop while a small dreamcatcher hangs nearby.

To the left of the bed sits a small dark box, the lid open to reveal a multitude of little toys.

In the middle of the room sits a small coffee table with a few items and papers scattered across it. It appears to be Rasu's writing desk.

·A smooth, beautiful orb sits in the basket along with a note folded behind it.
The note reads:[color=white]
In my normal romp through the forest, I stumbled over a root and tumbled down into a grotto. When I lifted myself up I found 6 shining orbs. They seem to be rather old. I trundled back to the tree with all 6 and decided to pass them out to the Ieldi owners. Their new shelves could use a bright and shining splash of color.
This orb spoke to me and reminded me of your own Ieldi, so this will go to you.

After that awful mishape with that unintentional evening dip in the spring, I have decided to crap you a rough vessel for your many journeys to your shelf. I definetly assume you might be visiting a lot more often with a spirit around. So here is that prized craft. It may not be much but it will get the job done.
~Zydeco~
PS. Sorry if you back can't take lifting it up into the tree. If it can't, leave it here and I'll take it up when I get there.

So I finally have a moment to sit. I've been so busy lately I've barely had time to do anything at all. @.@; It feels nice to rest here next to my relic... for some reason it makes me feel calm inside. It's a definate and welcome change from my daily life... oh, but to get to the important stuff..
Today I was still feeling sick from a certain monthly visitor >.<; so I didn't get to do much other than sit on my little stump shelf and stare at the sky. But as I was watching the clouds roll by, I saw something wonderful. A small, flitting irridescent light that could only be an ieldi spirit. It was hovering just outside of my vision, near my relic! I turned my head instinctively to look at it, and the spirit vanished. I lay still after that for a while, but it didn't come back..
Still, this is awesome news! The spirits are finally coming to the tree. Even now as I sit and write this in the early morning darkness, I can make out their furtive, fleeting lights around the other shelves and the rest of the tree. From what I've observed, each spirit is different. Some are pale and wispy, barely visable, while others are more colorful and vibrant. I've seen some that appear more bird-like, others that look like little fae people, and others still that have no discernable shape at all.
It's all very fascinating. I've also noticed that during the night hours, the spirits are more active and bold. Many seems to hover like moths around any sort of light... beautiful...

Karasu climbed slowly up to her shelf, wiping some sweat off her forehead as she reached the top stair.
"I'm pooped," she muttered as she sat next to her little table. She rested for a moment before opening her little notebook.
Karasu blinked, not daring any other movement as a hypnotizing light fluttered near her relic. It was an ieldi! What appeared to be the spirit's eyes gazed at her from within the blue haze of its shifting mist-like body.
Not sure if her voice would scare it away, Rasu nodded to it slowly in greeting, and to her utter amazement, the spirit nodded back! The little sentry fox, n**, watched the spirit with mild interest through one eye as he pretended to be asleep.
Rasu was still in shock as the spirit turned it's attention from her and began to investigate the items lying around the shelf. Immediately the wispy being became most interested in the bottle containing the irridescent purple liquid. It hovered around it, looking at it at all angles.
It did this for a long time.. but poor Karasu was already tired. And as she watched the mesmerizing colors within the spirit, she fell asleep across her table.

I've really taken to coming out here at night. The lights from the other shelves, and the fleeting lights of the spirits are the most beautiful when it's dark like this. It's so calming.. and the wind playing through the branches makes the sweetest kind of music.
Anyway, I'm taking a moment now to rest, I just got done moving the last two nests to their shelves, and I'm quite tired. @.@.. {there's an ink splotch here, as if she had let the pen stay on the paper too long}

I've noticed that this particular spirit of mine doesn't seem to enjoy the sunlight very much. It disappeared during the day today, and I was afraid I may have scared if off. But as the sunlight is fading now, it has already shown up again near my relic.
I had a chance to add a few more items to the shelf today, namely a bunch of cat plushies and a cricket I've taken to calling Chi.
The spirit seems to be the most interested in the dark blue dolls patterned with stars. I watched it reach out what appeared to be a hand to touch the toys with gentle sweeping motions, as if it were petting them. I watched it examine the different things for a while, careful to move slowly if I moved at all. The spirit seemed pretty calm, it only watched me when I moved, and even then it was a sidelong glance, as if it weren't too concerned. I believe I got lucky with this spirit, it doesn't seem as skittish as others I've seen around.
Well, as I write this, the spirit is watching me. I think it's waiting for something. Perhaps for me to speak to it? This may prove interesting. I'll write more later about how it reacted to my voice.
Til then,

I spent most of today at my younger cousin's birthday party. Nothing like being surrounded by a bunch of 12-13 year olds running around the house screaming their little heads off. @.@; Needless to say I wasn't able to get any work done.
I did do some minishopping before I returned to HQ, and I brought back some really pretty wall scrolls that I thought the spirit might like. It does seem to have a fascination with night time colors, so I bought a moon and stars one. When I made it to the tree, I was pleasantly surprised by a gift Zydeco left me. A boat! Perfect! I was quite tired of falling into the lake while trying to get to my out of the way shelf. >.<
When I made it back to my shelf I saw that the spirit was still there. I was relieved to see it, since the night before it had disappeared when I tried to speak to it. So, moving as slowly as possible, I hung the two wallscrolls up next to the nest along with a dream catcher I'd bought as well. Immediately the spirit became fascinated with the scrolls, and seemed to forget me completely. I'm still watching it now as it studies the patterns on the material as if it were some sort of miraculous thing.
I'll leave it be for now, I don't want to interrupt its worshipping. And I'm getting sleepy. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

I was barely able to wake myself up today, but I have to because I have a lot of house work to get to when I go home >.<. I spent all of last night with my spirit, observing it and speaking to it. Yup, it didn't run away at my voice this time, but it did sort of fade and flicker when I first spoke. I must have surprised it.
Anyway, to get back on track. When the sun went down yesterday the spirit appeared as usual, hovering around the wall scrolls almost as it it were napping. I got myself comfortable with my sketchpad and started to doodle, not really being in the mood to draw anything complicated. It saw me of course, and seemed to brighten a little bit and wiggle in what almost looked like a greeting.
I watched it pull itself away from the star covered scrolls and make its way over to the toy box. It felt across its surface curiously, sliding one of its luminescent tendrils underneath the closed lid. I think it tried to open it, because the lid budged a little bit, but it must have been too heavy. The spirit coiled around itself and turned its white eyes towards me, bobbing expectantly near the box.
Moving slowly as usual I crawled over and sat next to it. I asked it if it would like me to open the lid for it. That was when it dimmed, and I was afraid it would disappear. It didn't, much to my surprise, but it did draw all of its tendrils into itself until it resembled a little floating football of blue light. It actually looked a bit frustrated.
Without waiting for the spirit to become upset with me, I opened the lid of the box and sat back to see what it did. At first it just bobbed there, its eyes fixed on the inside of the box as if it expected something to come out of it. When it saw that nothing was going to leap out, it floated over and sat with the box, immediately snuggling up to the soft plushies that sat inside. It was the most adorable thing to watch X3
I went to sleep shortly after, figuring it would probably busy itself with the dolls for the rest of the night.
When I woke up this afternoon, I was in for a shock. The spirit had almost completely unraveled several of the plushies. Small piles of thread sat neatly outside of the box, along with a few pieces of stuffing and materials that had come off the plushies. I wondered how the heck it managed to do all of that, but what amazed me even further was the two pieces of material that sat closest to me. A piece of thread was layed across them in a pattern that resembled stitching. So the spirit remembered clothing? It may not be a good idea, but I'll bring it a needle later on tonight to see what it'll do with it.
But for now, I have cleaning to do >>;

While I had cleaned my house today I found a little sewing kit. I brought it back with me along with a few scraps of fabric to see if perhaps the spirit would be interested. When I got back to my shelf the sun was already setting and the spirit was drooped over the relic, its tendrils of soft light hanging to the floor. It seems very subdued tonight, as if it were worn out or depressed maybe. I think last nights antics took a toll on it. I doubt it's had so much physical interaction in a long while.
Anyway, as I sit here writing, I'm watching the sleepy spirit roll a spool of thread back and forth across the shelf. It's barely visible and moving very slowly. I hope it isn't.. well I don't see how it could be, but I hope it's not sick or anything.
I brought my cd player and a few sound tracks with me tonight. Mostly final fantasy and a few other games. I'll play them for it, hopefully it'll help it to relax and rest up. I'm actually a bit tired myself so I'll end now.

Karasu wandered up to her shelf after making sure her boat was tied securely to the bottom of the stairs. She definately didn't feel like taking a dip in the middle of the night when she got up for certain necessary trips to the HQ facilities. Muttering, she made a mental note to install some plumbling for the shelves.
As she reached the top step, she found her spirit waiting for her. It bobbed and glowed at her arrival, swirling around in what looked like excitement. Karasu was surprised to see it out so early, the sun was only just barely touching the horizon.
"Hello beautiful one," she said with a smile. The spirit passed a tendril in front of what was probably its face, the area around its eyes becoming a very vibrant shade of blue. It always seemed embarrassed when the woman called it that. "What is that has you so excited this evening?" she asked as she settled herself on a pillow near her writing desk.
The spirit puffed out, remembering what it wanted to show the woman. It darted behind the relic, dragging out one of the long rectangular pieces of fabric Karasu had left for it the night before. It pushed the blue material in front off her, patting the wrinkles out of it with its body. It was cute really as it bounced lightly on top of the fabric.
"May I pick it up?" Karasu asked, tentively reaching out to pick up the small cloth.
The spirit immediately flattened out, covering the entire thing and vibrating slightly as if offended.
"Oh," Karasu backed up. "I'm sorry," she said softly. "Okay, I'll look from here, I won't take it."
Slowly the spirit slid off to reveal its masterpiece. There was a moon stitched into the fabric, albeit clumsily and lop-sided, but there it was, a definate representation of a crescent moon.
"It's wonderful," Karasu said, awed by the sheer determination it would have taken for the spirit to manipulate the needle and thread. "It's almost as beautiful as you are," she added with a smile.
The spirit swirled within itself, the light casting about as if Karasu were looking into an ocean pool. It picked up the needle, the thread still attatched to the cloth, and pulled on it. The spirit held out the one tendril holding the needle, and had one pushing on the fabric as it pulled. Karasu figured the spirit didn't have enough strength to break the thread, so she pulled a small pair of scissors and a string from the sewing kit.
"Would you like me to cut that for you?" she asked, demonstrating on the piece of thread. "I can if you like?"
The spirit glowed as it watched her cut the thread. It held out the needle and bobbed in place as if saying 'Yes yes!'.
With a slow and steady motion, karasu cut the thread. "There you go," she said warmly, putting the scissors back into the kit. "Now what will you do with your pretty cloth?"
In answer, the spirit pulled the fabric across the shelf towards the relic. Excitedly it flung the edge over the top, letting the rest fall over the opening like a tapestry. The hanging part was too heavy however, and the cloth slid to the floor. The spirit coiled in annoyance and tried again with only the same result.
"Would you like me to help?" Karasu asked, not wanting the spirit to get too worked up, or to tire itself out.
Her answer was a definate no as the spirit glanced sidelong at her and vibrated, its color dropping to a deep, darker blue. It then seemed to have an idea as it scoured the shelf, darting back and forth in rapid motions. Finally, it found what it wanted. A rock. With visible effort the spirt carried the rock over to the relic and dropped it on top with a -thunk-. It then tucked the top edged of the cloth underneath it. This time it was successful, the make shift tapestry flutered lightly over the entrance to the nest, blown by a light breeze, but it didn't fall.
"Good job," Karasu chuckled, her laughter making the spirit ripple in what looked like pride.
Before the woman could say anything else, the spirit gave her an odd look. It floated towards her and it tilted its hazy face to one side. Karasu held her breath. The spirit hovered not an inch away from her face and she felt almost as if a single breath might blow its wispy mass apart. With an odd tenderness the spirit rubbed it's cheek against hers, the sensation of it indescribable.
And with a flicker of blue wisp, the spirit flew behind the tapestry and into the relic...

I'm concerned about my spirit.. when I came up to the shelf today I noticed there was no light coming from the nest. Usually I see a dim blue glow from within. My first assumption was that the spirit had left the relic, which from what I learned is possible within the first day or so. I made my way over to the nest and lifted the cloth away a bit. I jumped back immediately as I was met by a flare of blue light. The spirit had charged at the opening, and when it hit the magical barrier it glowed brilliantly for a moment in an expression of what seemed like anger.. or desperation.
I've been trying to speak to it, but it doesn't seem to want to listen to me. It's flitting about the inside of the nest, as if it feels the need to escape. I'm worried it may be in pain, but the Pantheon didn't say that the transformation would hurt. Then again, they didn't say it wouldn't.
I just came back from my house, I brought some soundtracks for it to listen to.. I wasn't sure what it would like, so I brought a few different ones... I supposed I'll try and see if there's something that might calm it down. I don't want it to hurt itself...

OMG!! You wouldn't believe what I'm seeing now!! The relic... the nest it's so... It's like a small, irridescent sun! The light, I can barely see, and I feel.. so charged, like every single one of my cells is vibrating. I can barely breathe there's so much energy in the air.. I think.. I think it's time!!

I've just taken a moment to say.. I'm utterly exhausted. I'm so glad my ieldi has been sleeping this whole time. After the initial shock and tears, the poor dear just fell asleep. She wakes up now and then, crying and shaking, but I think she's slowly coming about. I need to gather myself before she does, or I fear I won't have the energy to keep up with her...
Oh but that isn't an option. I need to be there for her, and I will. I just need to finish all this work.. I can't wait til I can finally take a moment to breath.
I think she's having a nightmare, so I'll end. Last time she almost fell out of bed. o.O

Karasu squirmed on her makeshift bed, which was nothing more than a blanket and a pillow borrowed from the Inn. She muttered to herself as she tried in vain to find a comfortable position. In the afternoon she'd have to go find a cot or something to bring up to the tree.
With a dismayed sigh she finally sat up. And was met by the piercing gaze of Imriel.
"O-oh... you're awake," she stumbled, running a hand through her hair in hopes she didn't look too scarey. "Are you feeling well?" she asked as she smiled at the girl, who was sitting on a pillow at her feet.
Imriel tilted her head at the question, bright eyes wandering in thought. She pouted when it seemed she couldn't find an answer and crawled forward, settling herself in Rasu's lap. Her little wings fluffed restlessly on her back as a tiny sob escaped her mouth.
Karasu paused a moment, her thoughts still a bit scattered. "It's okay, Imri," she said as she wrapped her arms around the child and settled herself against the wall. "I'm here." She stroked the ieldi's hair gently as she hummed a quiet lullaby, her eyes growing heavy even as she could feel Imriel's breathes become deep and steady. After a few minutes they were both deeply asleep.

Wednesday, August 4 {3:00am}[color=white]
Imriel has finally started to come around. I was a little worried to tell the truth, she spent so much of the day asleep I wondered if she might be sick. But I think sleeping is just her way of handling this huge change. I'm glad she hasn't had many nightmares at least. It's almost like she falls into a coma when she's sleeping, so quiet and motionless. I wonder if she even dreams.
I've come to notice that Imriel tends to be awake more during the evening hours. She'll sit up in her bed and gaze out the window for a long time. She stares the longest and hardest when there are a lot of stars out. I'm actually writing this as she all but hangs out of the window. Tonight she saw the moon for the first time since she'd been reborn.
I was sitting near her bed, going through some papers, when she woke up. It was well into the night hours, so the house was dark save for the glow of a stray lumina that was in just the right spot to help me read. They seem to know these things without being told.. I smiled at Imriel, putting the papers down for a moment to get a brush from the table nearby. She seems to really enjoy having her beautiful hair brushed.
"Hello there," I said as she crawled over to sit crosslegged in front of me. I gently pulled her pigtails free of their silver bands and started to comb. "Are you feeling better?"
She shuffled her wings on her back and shrugged. I wasn't sure quite what she meant by the gesture, but since she wasn't speaking yet I didn't push. I'm not sure if she can't speak, or just won't.
Anyhow, we sat for a little while and she seemed calm as I brushed her hair and we listend to my Zelda soundtracks. But suddenly she sat up, pulling the brush out of my hand in the process, and scrambled over to the window, her little palms splayed out on the glass.
"What is it?" I got up to see what she was so excited about. Ah, but it was impressive. The moon was very bright, not quite full, but beautiful all the same.
"Nnn" Imriel complained, pushing on the window. She turned her pleading eyes on me and pointed.
"That's the moon, Imri. Do you remember it?" I picked her up and put her on my lap as I unlatched the window and pushed it out so she could see better. "It's very lovely tonight."
Imriel squirmed in my arms as she reached up with one hand to grasp at empty air.
"Ah, be careful Imri," I told her, making sure she didn't fall out of the window. "The moon is very far away, you can't touch it from here." And she seemed greatly saddened by the thought as she pulled her arms to her chest and layed her head on my shoulder. "But you know," I whispered, pushing a few strands of hair away from her eyes. "When you're older, you can fly closer than most could ever dream. Maybe then you can reach."
She looked up at me with those eyes... her childish features belied those enigmatic, secretive eyes. Sometimes it's almost scarey when she looks at me. But she did, and I met her mysterious gaze and she smiled. It was innocence then, that smile that lit her face. She hugged me tight and we looked at the moon together for a while.
I left her at the window eventually, to write and to go through a few other papers. But she seems to be hungry now, so I'll end before she tries to eat a whole orange again.. peel and everything o_O.
Til next time,
Rasu~
