* December 22 * A festive Yuletide to all y'all, and happy New Year :3 Tomorrow morning I fly back to the States for winter break, so I will be AFK for a day or two while I recover from jet-lag / hug my friends and family to pieces and stuff myself stoopid full o' X-mas cookies <3
* November 18 * Happy VERY belated Halloween XD Sorry, kinda forgot this updates section was here, hahaha.
Anywho, I've successfully sold off my 2007 letter set, and just today I purchased a July 2006 letter, which leaves only 3 left to go until my '06 set is complete & ready to trade in for something even more awesome!
* September 19 * Well the undies auction is over, and [Comfort Eagle] is the lucky winner of my much-coveted bra & panties ;3 Congratulations and big thank-you's to her!
* August 24 * Quick Life Update: I'm mostly settled into my new apartment right now; the Japanese teachers at my new workplace are all very friendly and helpful, and I've even got a fellow American in town who's been working here since last year to show me the ropes.
Unfortunately, the last thing to get done is the thing I've wanted most since setting foot on Japanese soil: an internet connection =___=;;; The phone company won't be able to come out to my little backwater town until September 4th, and I dunno if they're even going to do anything then. So essentially, I'm offline still for another two weeks at least. The only reason I'm able to write this update now is 'cause my co-worker from the States has been nice enough to invite me over to his place and gank his interwebbernets cable for a while. I have made offerings of Skittles and Starburst, rare treasures from the Motherland, in return, but these will only last me for so long ;p
My heartfelt thanks goes out to everybody's who's been hanging around keeping the thread alive n____n I don't have a scanner, but I do have my digital camera, so hopefully I can work up some decent art freebies for y'all as thanks.
* July 24 * The wait is over, I'M MOVING TO JAPAN. This will take some time. Expect me to disappear for a few weeks as I get used to living on my own in a foreign country.

Unfortunately, I've got a full day of doin' stuff ahead of me ("family time," bah), so I might not be around much before 9 pm Central (U.S.) Time. However, I will make an effort to lurk around the thread as much as possible, possible on-and-off throughout the day, so that if at any time we have three or more people assembled, we can have some fun and I can give you guys some prizes, however arbitrary they may seem :b

* June 6 * Well the Caribbean was a blast, but now it's back to the "real world" - which means finding a job and studying for the GRE x___x
But since I had such a great time on vacation, I decided to bring a little piracy back with me in the form of

* May 24 * Tomorrow I'm leaving for a week-long cruise in the Caribbean! Yaaarrrrrr! I've decided to bring my laptop with me, but don't expect to see much of me around Gaia until next Tuesday. I'll be busy soaking up the tropical sun and snorkeling with turtles ( > w < )

* April 25, 2008 * Back From The Dead Part 2: School's Out For Summer
It's come to my attention that I just don't do well with staying connected during the school year. A thousand apologies again for this second long-term disappearance; hope I didn't have any of ya who stuck around too worried. That said, I have a few Real Life Happenin's type announcements that bear buttloads of relevance to my internets time and how and when I'll be spending it on Gaia in the future:
~ I'M GRADUATING ~ Finally @__@ Yes, on May 18th, I leave the undergraduate ranks forever. While this means that I'll no longer have to stay up until 2, 3 in the morning reading for a philosophy seminar or writing papers for my English profs, it doesn't mean I'm becoming a total slacker over the summer with nothing better to do than spend all day on the internets. I do plan on finding work over the summer, full-time work, if possible. I gots me some epic student loans to pay off, and I also need to save like mad for the next phase of my life, which will take place in Japan. Which brings me to my next announcement:
~ I'M GOING BACK TO JAPAN!!! ~ Some of you may remember back in November when I was driving myself nuts over a big-an'-scary application to the JET Program, an international program that sends people from all across the world to teach English in Japan. Well, I made it to the interview stage in February, and after another two months of nail-biting suspense, I finally received notice that I'd been accepted. On July 26th I'll be flying from America to Tokyo for a few days of orientation, then I'll ship out to my contracting organization's town or city and go about getting situated in my new home and my new job as a teacher.
I expect that I'll be running about like a stupid-gaijin-chicken with my head cut off, finding stuff for my home and taking care of immigration procedures and whathaveyou, for at least a month before I settle into any semblance of routine and normality. Based on my previous experience of living in Japan for a semester, I will probably have considerably more free time overall than I ever did while at university in the States. I'll most likely be checking into Gaia periodically, to catch up with posts and messages and suchlike. It's not going to be an every-day or even every-week kinda thing. But the bottom line is I don't plan on disappearing again once I start my job in August.
Phew, that was a mouthful. I'm gonna go watch "Saved!" now; I'll get around to looking back over posts and stuff when I get the chance, which might not be until Senior Week (May 10 - 17); there's still final exams left to tackle before I'm off scott free.
* January 27, 2008 * DJing has officially started at my school's internets radio station ! ...Nothing to do with the thread, really, I'm just excited 'cause I got back just now from my first show of the new semester X3
BUT, I'd like to draw everyone's attention again to the Contests post. No one's been makin' me banners, and this makes me a sad panda ;___; I'll have to keep all the prize money for myself, I guess. Or, yanno, extend the banner contest indefinitely.
Anyway, I may be a bit scarce in the coming weeks, as my senior thesis (eep!) is due by Easter, which is a mere two months away.
* December 26 * Updates are done! New contests start January 1st, so be prepared! And tell all your friends 3nodding
* December 24 * 2 out of 3 priority tasks are complete! Thank-you gifts have been sent out, and my art shop has been re-born! Slots were full up after about 5 minutes, which is good news for me and maybe even better news for you guys, 'cause that means better contest prizes **waggles eyebrows**
New bump contest will start on January 1st, and I'll cook up a couple more by then as well. Happy belated Winter Solstice to everyone :3
* December 20 * Ha ha haaaa... well there's me with my foot in my mouth. Obviously 6 classes, 4 clubs, 10 hours of campus work per week, and a senior thesis leave a lot less room for internets playtime than I had counted on. So I'm on break right now - which means I'm not back forever&always and probably never will be around with the same frequency as I enjoyed over the summer, because that's life for ya - and I'm working on fixing stuff that went neglected while I was gone.
Priorities are (1) get you all some door prizes for keeping my quest alive even though the Bump Contest never came to a conclusion...seriously, y'all amaze me and are wonderful wonderful posters and deserve some spiffty thank-you's
(2) overhaul the contests section so that you guys have somefing to do besides wait around for me to drop in; hopefully I can come up with a few new contests that require less management on my end
(3) re-model my art shop, which has been effectively dead for a while now and should probably go the Great Recycling Bin In The Sky so's it can stop cluttering up the mini-shops forum.
* August 25 * I'm headed back to college tomorrow. I'll be a lot scarcer around Gaia in the next few months as I begin work on my senior thesis + extra-curriculars such as DJing and writing for campus publications, but don't worry because my dedication to the quest and the community will not waver. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, after all. Good luck to everyone else who's beginning another school year 3nodding

* August 12 * I'm going on vacation! This week, on Thursday the 16th, I'll be boarding a plane to Sweden. I come home on Tuesday the 21st, which gives me just long enough to adjust to Swede-time before I need to get back on my home country's clock. Yay massive jet-lag! But wait, it gets better: on Wednesday, I'm heading up to my parents' house to get my stuff for school. So I'll effectively be out of action for a week, beginning on Thursday. Rest assured I'll come back with some great stories from Scandinavia.

* July 30 * July contests end tomorrow o__o I'll decide on winners and send trades out tomorrow night after dinner. But the fun's not over, kids, oh no. A new crop of contests and games will soon replace the old, so keep a weather eye on the front page.

* July 8 * The thread has reached 50 pages! Congratulations to the first Page Contest winner, Snow White Jinx, and big thanks to everyone who's been bumping their butts off!
* July 5 * I'm leaving today for a week's vacation at my parents' new place. I should still be able to stop by periodically, but you'll be seeing less of me for the next 7 or 8 days. Keep those bumps and tekteks and banners coming, guys, you're all doing great!
