Stand in the rain. That's were magic happens.

Welcome to A Spell of Cobalt, a breedables-chanagables shop of cute water nymphs! There are currently no events going on, but we have a few in planning. Customs are closed, too.

Ginger-duckie is really not cut out to be someone you've gotta depend on, nor can we find long-term reliable staff, so A Spell of Cobalt is leaving her hands. She/I doesn't/don't want the shop to close, however, so it's 'for sale'. A thread will be up soon.

Be sure to read the whole first page!

-Be nice. This sounds simple. It is simple. But it is golden. This also includes not being dramatic.
    -No theft.
    -No page streching.
-Common sense. This rule makes you be smart. So any goof-ups, we can point to this rule, and say “reportment!” (though we’re nice – don’t worry. C:). This is our way of saving you from reading a ton of rules.
    -Have fun!

faq
    So what is this place?
It's "A Spell of Cobalt"! A B/C shop. We sell water nymphs, and what do you know, they grow up! From a raindrop to a adult, maybe even a lord or lady.

    What's a spell of cobalt?
You know the term, "A spell of rain"? Well, rain is blue. And cobalt is another word for blue. Put two and two together! ... And yes, in the end, it isn't logical. (" A spell of blue") But it sounds neat. >83

    Is RP required?
No, RP isn't required.. But we do enjoy a good RP, and it'll help speed up the growth of your pet - mayhaps we'll even edit in some details judging on what you RPed... Good things come to RPers. :3 That's all we can say for sure.

    Where can I RP?
You can RP in the shop, or you can RP in the guild. We don't have a perference, though RPing in the shop helps keep it bumped.

Can I get a nymph starting at ___ stage?
If you want to time-skip, it will cost you 3k per skipped stage. These are B/C pets. Breedable-changable. The growth is the main point!

    Are you hiring?
We're consindering getting some extra help with the artwork. If you are interested in working with Cobalt, please PM the mule with the postion you'd like (lineartist/colorist/both, full-part time, etc.), examples of your work, and any other information that's important (your wanted pay, etc.).

    I don't understand __...
Be sure to read the whole front page - if you still don't get it, post your question in the thread! C: We don't mind.
story
...She’s sitting in a chair. It’s just a plain, wooden chair – it doesn’t creak, but it’s not very polished, either. There is a simple red cushion on it’s base to make sitting more comfortable. The woman rests there. Her legs dip in at her knees, so her feet are tucked beneath the plain chair. She’s wearing a skirt – a long, tan colored skirt – and her feet are bare. She’s also wearing a brown-colored sweater: it looks very snug and comfy, and most importantly, very warm. For further heat she has a fashionable, cream-colored scarf wrapping around her neck, the extra length of it elegantly falling over her left shoulder.

“Oh, hello there.” A kind chuckle lines the words. They come from that pretty young woman. She’s got curly chocolate hair tumbling over her shoulders. Her only-slightly aged eyes look up from the pages she had so intently been reading, revealing that they’re a sharp, deep jade. Her left hand is supporting the book, which seems to be tattered and yellowed with age, and her right hand gracefully slides it shut.

“I take it you are here to hear my story?” She continues on calmly, politely setting her book on the dresser besides her chair. It’s a grand dresser, with brass handles, and highly polished oak. Most importantly, it’s huge – taller than the woman was. She closes her eyes, as if picturing the scenes in her mind, and leans back in her seat.

“All right.” You decide you like listening to her voice. It’s clean and easy to understand, but not sharp or bare. Her voice is kind, too, and not too low and not too high. She sums up a breath and continues on. “It was winter when I found the book.” She begins vaguely. “A cold day.” She shutters as if she’s reliving it. “I remember that clearly. Because of the cold and snow and slush, I had to stay inside all day.

“It was terribly boring.” Hmm. An adult like her, even if a bit young for the term, using the term ‘boring’? She continues on, not seeming to notice. “So I ventured into our attic, and began to search through all the old relics in there. That is where I found the book.” She smiles, eyes still closed. “Ah, at first, I thought they were crazy. They kept talking about endless spells and floods. And,” a light flickers through her eyes – they’ve opened abruptly. She looks passionate. Too bad she’s staring otherworldly at the ceiling. “About nymphs.”

“Oh, but I’ve been vague, haven’t I?” She looks at you now. You’re tempted to wag your head “yes”, but it seems rude, so you just continue to watch her. “Let me explain. This,” her hand reaches up and still gracefully taps the book she recently stopped reading, “Is ‘the book’. It is the records of this very town… Expect, it’s 250 years old.” She frowns, and solemn expression overtaking her soft face, “And 250 years ago, this town underwent a horrible storm.

“It rained for a long time. A very, very long time.” She adds gravely. “No one knows just how long. The records were very confusing to me. I believe it might have been months. There was floods. People couldn’t leave their homes. Their crops died from lack of sunlight and being over watered. Worst of all, if no one in this town could go outside… No one could go into the village, and no one could go out.” She shook her head, closing her eyes briefly as if to honor and sympathize for the people. But the woman continued on quickly.

“Eventually, people began to run out into the mad storm, and cry out, ‘Pastel!’. They had found a way to end the water… Or, at least to try.” She puts on a weak smile, “For you see, every time a person of the correct heart calls out ‘pastel’ to the rain, a raindrop becomes a water nymph. The word ‘pastel’ triggers the strengthening of the water’s heart, and it takes the form of it’s guardians – a water nymph.”

“The people believed that if they could summon out enough water nymphs, they could use their powers to stop the rain.” The young woman stands, and picks up her precious records again. She looks stern once more. “I do not know how their story ended, but most of that tale was forgotten.” She walks closer to you in a few long strides. “And this,” she holds the book out to you. You can tell it is most obviously old – the binding is broken, the corners torn, and watermarks splatter the cover. “is their only legacy.” She opens it to a random page. The handwriting is tight, but not at all neat. The strokes are eerie and curvy, the distribution of the ink uneven. You can see how the raindrops plastered down on it, from the strong creases and dried marks. She shuts it before you can make out the poorly written words.

In a few steps she’s back by her dresser, opening the top drawer and safely tucking her book back into it. Her movements jerk, however, when she is closing the grand drawer. She zips around to you, and her pretty face turns a bit pink. “Oh, I’m sorry.” Her hand is femininely outstretched before her mouth. “My name is Mia Lanio,” she nods once in acknowledgment to you, “Since I discovered the town’s records when I was ten, and proved the pastel magic correct, I have been spreading the knowledge…” She pauses for a moment, before bursting out in a smile, “and the love of the water nymphs.”

story summary
A young girl named Mia found a book in her attic one day, when mindlessly exploring it. It told of the town's past. 250 years in the past. There was endless rain, that lasted for possibly months. In that insanity, people began to summon out water nymphs from the crazy showers, hoping to use the water nymph's powers to stop the rain. How does their tale end? No one knows. But Mia does know how they summoned out the water nymphs.
    Go out into the rain.
    And with all your heart...
    Call out, "Pastel!"

stages
You spend about 3-4 weeks on a stage, expect for the raindrop stage, which is 1-2 weeks. Staying active in the shop and RPing help your nymph grow faster.

    Stage One: A Raindrop
This stage is right before you holler out 'Pastel' - it's a raindrop. And at the B/C, we're fiddling with natural's laws and coloring the raindrop to hint away at the future stages...

    Stage Two: Baby Nymph
Aww... A little baby! <3 Fresh from the rain!

    Stage Three: Child Nymph
    Aren't they adorable? Pericous kids.

    Stage Four: Adult Nymph
-sniffle- They always grow up so fast...

Stage Five: That's Lord/Lady Water Nymph!
They have become the master of the waters! Only available in rare nymphs.
events
Events are the only other way to obtain a nymph, vs. customs and breeding. Events include thing like flat sales, raffles, auctions, page contests, and other good stuff. C:
Auctions are by bidding (AB changes), raffle tickets cost 100 gold, and regular flat sale nymphs are 14k.

No events at this time, however, there's a Garage Sale coming up, and possible a Halloween event.
customs
    Information:
For ordering a custom, decide how custom of a custom you want, and then PM the mule (A Spell of Cobalt) with the correctly completed form. If you’re unsure you may ask questions, or we can ask you questions to help make you the best nymph possible. Payment is accepted in pure or items.

Cosplays - give several good references pictures, name the one who is cosplayed, and give a note that it's a cosplay in the other section. Otherwise, just pick how 'custom' of a cosplay this is.

    35 - 40 k
Pick colors and basic clothing, with an accesory or two.

    50 - 60k
Pick colors and basic clothings, along with some details. Three or so accesories. Small lineart edits possible (like the nymph's hand postion or facial expression).

    75 - 100k
Pick colors and decide on detailed clothing. You can have a handful of accessories or details. Medium lineart edit available (an arm or leg or so - but not too much 'cause they're tricky).

    High Bribe
Full custom. No extra stages, but all lineart is 100% new. Clothing as complex as you want it, as many accessories as you can think of, and whatever colors in the world you want. A D&D search… Means freedom. Whatever you want, you will get. **Because this requires new lineart... Well, this is a LOT of work. It can take a month or so to complete a D&D nymph. Probably only avaliable through auctions..

Note On Lord and Lady: There is an extra stage possible. It is the water-holy, Lord and Lady stage. There is no way to order a nymph with this stage. You may or may not get it.

breeding
Breeding… Ugh, what an unbecoming term. I’ll call it, “love”. Sweetest thing in the world. C:

Story; Breeding between nymphs is a very special thing. The two lovebugs convert back into their original raindrop forms, and having their tips touch lightly, instantly freeze. Because they’re now like elite-carved ice, they melt, bit by bit… The small puddle that forms below them is the new child. Once enough magic water has been collected, it *poofs* into a nymph, and there you have it. The parents unfreeze themselves as a chemical response. They both did lose a bit of their water, thus weakening themselves, but because both parents did it, they only had to lose half the normal amount, and recover quickly.

Because of this unique way of reproducing, any and all sexes may ‘breed’. Just PM the mule, A Spell of Cobalt, with the completed form below, and send the trade right after. Both parents must be at the adult stage or farther. They do not need to be at the same stage. The only factor of your child you get to decide is the name – everything else is based of the parents. There is a 50/50 chance for gender, and each breeding produces one child. On rare occasions, just as rare with humans, there will be twins or even triplets.

Babies from breeding are the only ones that may be co-owned, and they start from the raindrop stage to the adult stage. There is no lord or lady stage found in breeded nymphs.

Breeding costs 26k - parents may split the price however the want, and can send it in the same or seprate trades

Cobalt has a guild. You can find it here. It's a great place to RP with other owners in, as well as expand on your nymph by adding to it's profile, and, although you can't tell, we owe a lot of the organzation of Cobalt to this guild.

    Quote:
Go more in depth here – read some extra information on the shop, make your water nymphs rich characters in the profile subby, RP and earn some brownie points plus have fun, and the guild allows the staff to make better art quicker. C: Pretty awesome place, huh?

The guild is fully set up and accepting everyone; lurker, regular, owner? Go join and have yourself a good time!

    We'll be seeing you there!
