Welcome! I'm Meggi, and this is my brand new art shop. I hope you enjoy the art that I have to offer, and even if you don't plan to buy, feel free to stop by and chat with me for a while. 3nodding

I plan to offer a variety of things in this shop in addition to normal avatar art, but Sailor Senshi avatar art is my specialty. Of course I'll still offer to draw your avatar the way it normally looks, but if you're interested in something different I'll draw your avatar as an original Sailor Senshi! Or if you're a guy or more interested in looking like one of Naoko-sensei's original Sailor Senshi, I can draw your avatar dressed as a Sailor Moon character.

I'm also willing to draw original characters and fanart, to an extent. As long as you give me a reference or an extremely detailed and clear description of the character you want me to draw and there are no details about the character that fall in my list of things that I won't draw, I'll probably do it.

Continued hiatus~

I've really been putting off on making this update because it's been difficult for me to even deal with things as they are, let alone explain them for whoever might still be reading this thread. Heh, to be honest, I kind of doubt anyone still reads this thread, but just in case anyone's still out there, this update is for you. ^^

I was working my butt off throughout October and November so that I would be able to submit my portfolio and application by early to mid-December so that I would meet the January 5th deadline for scholarship consideration, only to find out when I visited the university again that transfer students are not eligible for scholarship consideration. Additionally, my portfolio wasn't as great as I thought it was, so I was doomed to work on it for several more months. So, obviously, I was unable to re-open the shop in January like I wanted to.

My application and portfolio are now due on May 1st, but I'm planning to submit them within the first week of April. However, I'm not sure that I will even be able to re-open after that. confused One of the things I was told when I visited and had my portfolio reviewed was that I should stop drawing anime altogether because anime art is undesirable in a serious art school. And to be honest, I'm still not sure whether I really want to do that or not.

Anime was what made me start drawing seriously, and I am still very attached to drawing in an anime style when I'm not focused on trying to make my drawings as close to reality as possible. But what my portfolio reviewer told me is true; my anime influences are very apparent in the portraits in my portfolio, and I'm sure that they will continue to affect my art unless I simply beat it out of myself. I want to hold on to my anime style because I feel like it is a large part of who I am as a person, but at the same time I don't know if I want to risk not getting into VCU over anime.

However, I can't see myself quitting my anime style forever, and since I'm thinking about quitting my job to relax after I submit my portfolio and application, I'll have time to think about what I want to do and whether I want to keep doing anime-style art or not.

I'll update again later on, as my situation changes and progresses. If you still believe in my art, please feel free to let me know that you do; I could use some encouragement in this stressful time. ^^;

More Changes
Over the past month or so, I've altered some of the content and the coding of this page a bit, but it looks like it's going to need a full makeover due to all the broken codes caused by Gaia's new site design and forum coding, so I'm going to try to start working on that today.

I completely discarded the limited characters system since it didn't attract much interest, and most of the forms were changed during this time period as well.
Short Hiatus Starting Today
Today I'm also putting my shop on a small hiatus as part of a new policy for my shop. Don't go away though! I'll still be around to chat, but I need to take some time to work on my own art and fix the broken codes on this page, so my slots will be closed for a little while. xd

The new policy is that for every few orders I take, I'll take a short break to work on my own art and other things that I should be working on instead of commissions. This is only to make sure that when I do take more orders, I'll be able to finish them in a relatively short period of time rather than taking forever and making you wait with an open trade for weeks while I try to balance homework, my job, and my own art with your order.

I will probably open my slots again in a week or two.

Due to some confusion concerning prices of color and background styles, I've edited the Moonie Art and Regular Art Styles posts to hopefully clarify my pricing a bit.

A reminder to all customers, please look in the Regular Art Styles post even if you're ordering Moonie Art for details concerning styles, coloring, and backgrounds. ^^

Yesterday I completed my first bribe order, and I've decided that I'm only going to complete one bribe per week in an attempt to be a little more fair to the customers on my regular waiting list.

11. Only one slot at a time per person.
Please don't post more than one order at a time, and don't post another order if I have not finished with your first order yet.

However, I will try to work with you if you've been chatting here for a while, being nice to everyone, following all of my rules, and haven't been able to catch a slot when they're open.

13. Please do not cancel or change your order after I have started working on it.
It's very inconvenient for me to spend what precious little free time I have to draw your commission only to have that time made into a waste by not being compensated for it. However, if the waiting list states that I haven't started working on your commission, I won't mind too much if you have to change or cancel. It's also not a very big deal if you'd like to upgrade your cel-shaded coloring style into soft-shaded coloring or if you'd like to add a background option to your default or single color background, as long as you consult me about it and add the costs for these things to the payment trade first.

14. Please post all orders and questions/comments concerning the shop in the thread.
Any orders sent to me via PMs will be ignored.

15. Please upload the art you purchase to your own server.
I don't plan to leave commissioned art uploaded on my server forever, so please save it when I send it to you. If you want to put it in your signature I'd recommend uploading it to Photobucket, Imageshack, or some other image host. ^^;

16. You must accept and comply with all of my terms and conditions (listed below) when ordering my art.
These are an extension of the rules that you will be required to follow when you order my art. If you don't plan to follow my terms, please save us both some time and don't order my art in the first place. Violations of my terms will be reported.

When ordering my art, you must agree to all of the following terms and conditions.

01. Please be tasteful about altering my art.
I don't mind if you put my art in graphics or layouts, as long as it's pretty and you give me credit for the original art. Be absolutely sure to credit me especially if you have to crop out or obscure my signature in the image; otherwise I might think that you're attempting to take credit for my art.

02. You may not take credit for my art.
This is considered art theft, so you better not do it!

03. You may not resell my art.
This probably won't be much of a problem since I'm offering mostly original avatar art, but I've heard of it happening in Mini Shops, and I don't want it happening to me since I'm thinking about adding Mini Shop-like items to my shop later on.

04. You may not use the art you purchase from me for commercial purposes.
I'd actually prefer that you don't take my art offsite at all. I'm scared to death of art theft. However, as long as it's personal and you're not making money off of anything directly related to my art, then it's okay. I'd love to know what you plan to do with my art though. I like to see people using my art when I draw for them. ^^

05. I retain all copyrights for the art you purchase from me.
Which means I have the right to alter or keep copies of it for my own personal use. However, I will not resell it.

These are things that I'm pretty confident about doing in my art:

Pretty girls and guys
Attractive avatars
Shoujo-style stuff
Sailor Moon fanart and costumes
Animal ears, tails, other simple features
Basic poses
Artistic nudity (but I prefer to leave parts either undetailed or hidden/covered)

These are things that I'm not as confident about drawing but would be willing to try or do anyway:

Masculine guys
Couples and small groups
Shounen-ai and shoujo-ai
Wavy and curly hair
Simple armor and weapons
Fairy wings ^^;
Sitting poses (references needed)
Simple action poses (references needed)
Original characters (references needed)
Fanart (references needed)
Simple scenic backgrounds
Simple character interaction

These are things that I either can't or won't draw:

Extremely muscular characters
Overly complex poses
Mecha, guns, machines, etc.
Hentai of any sort, including yaoi and yuri
Complex armor and weapons
Extremely cluttered or ugly avatars
Complicated items
All-out furries or anthros
Detailed backgrounds
Large groups
Extreme blood and gore
Dragon poses from the Summoning Tome item
Complex couple/group interaction

Note: If you're unclear on any of these, or if there's something not on the list that you'd like me to draw, post about it on the thread and I'll try to clear things up for you. ^^

In the future I'll try to come up with a list of specific Gaia items that I don't feel comfortable drawing, but for now if you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask me.

01. Before ordering, please make sure you've read everything on the first page to avoid confusion. 3nodding Especially make sure that you've read my rules and terms and conditions; you must follow all of these when ordering and using my art.

If you've read everything (including the actual art styles and FAQ posts) and still have questions about the ordering process, prices, or anything else regarding my shop, please post your questions in the thread and I'll clear things up for you.

02. Fill out the appropriate order form for whatever kind of art you want to order. Here's a sample form correctly filled out for some of my Sailor Senshi art:

Note: Be sure to give the trade an appropriate subject and include the page number whenever possible. (Example: "Avatar art payment p.3" wink If you start a trade with no subject and for some reason I don't see your order, I may cancel it, so it kind of helps when you include a title for the trade.

04. I will let you know in the thread if I've accepted your request, and I'll add you to the waiting list. If I have any questions or problems involving your order, I'll bring them up in the thread at this point, so please keep an eye on the thread for a bit in case I need to talk to you about your order.

05. When I'm done with your commission, I will send you a watermarked version of the finished art in a PM and accept the trade.

Things to Keep in Mind When Ordering

If you have a very complicated avatar, I may ask you to remove or switch certain items to make it easier for me to draw. Or, if you really don't want to rearrange your avatar, I may have to either reject your order or charge you more for it. The same goes for complicated fanart or original characters.
I may slightly alter the appearance of some of your items in order to make them more visually appealing, particularly in senshi avatar art. Please let me know in your order form if you don't want me to do this.
Even if you want me to draw your current avatar, please provide me with a saved image of your avatar hosted on Photobucket, Imageshack, or another site, so I don't have to worry about drawing the wrong avatar in the event that you decide to change outfits before I start drawing. Please do NOT link to a Gaia URL for avatar references; these images change everytime you change your avatar, and it's difficult for me to determine whether I've saved the right image or not.

Rather, I use the items you're wearing and turn them into an original fuku that doesn't necessarily resemble the traditional fuku.

How long will it take you to finish my commission?
It depends on a variety of things. Sketches, CG'ed bust portraits, and chibis usually take less than 6 hours, and half bodies and full bodies usually take between 5 and 10 hours. However, I don't draw 24/7, so I may not be done for a few days, depending on how busy I am and how many orders I have to finish before yours.
Can I buy your art with items?
Sometimes, but usually not with items that I already have or items that I just don't want. Sealed envelopes, most monthly collectibles, and some store items and uncommons/rares are acceptible, but you must discuss it with me first. I will determine the value of non-store items using Tektek and the Marketplace.
Do you sell uncolored line art?
No. It's not that I'm too lazy to include an option for it or that I'm too greedy to offer something like that so it'll be cheaper than my fully-colored art. I just don't like to leave my art uncolored. It makes me feel like I'm not finished with the piece, and I hate not finishing my art. Also, I don't want other people to color my line art without my permission, and this will hopefully prevent it from happening.
Do you draw/sell traditional art?
I will, but you'll have to ask for it in the thread. I don't plan to make specific order forms or price listings for traditional media commissions unless they become big sellers or I just feel like it, but if you really want it, I'll be willing to work out a price for you.
Do you do art trades?
Officially I'm not, but it really depends. Talk to me about it first, show me some samples of what you'd like to offer and I'll consider it. ^^ If you're a friend or I really like your art, I may do it. 3nodding
Can I bribe you when your slots are full?
You can try, but since I'm more interested in having fun, practicing my art, and remaining fairly stress-free on Gaia than gaining gold and items for my avatar, your bribe will have to be pretty good for me to accept it. xd
OMG why did you close your slots?
Since I opened my shop in June, I've been practically drowning in all of the orders I've gotten, and I haven't had much time to do any art for myself. So, in order to give myself more time for my own art and other things, I've decided to take breaks every now and then between commissions. Don't be discouraged, though. These breaks usually won't be very long.
Do you draw freebies?
I plan to hand out freebies occasionally, but only to people whom I feel deserve them most. I'll be more likely to give freebies to people who follow my rules, are always nice, courteous, and respectful to me and everyone else in the thread, and stay for a while to chat. I want to maintain a positive atmosphere in my shop, so those who help me create that atmosphere will be rewarded.
What tools/programs do you use when drawing and/or making graphics?
I mainly use a 4x5 Wacom Graphire2 tablet and Adobe Photoshop CS2. However, I occasionally dabble in Painter Classic, OpenCanvas 1.1, and the free version of ArtRage 2, though I'm not very good at any of those. Prismacolor pencils are my preferred traditional medium.

In real life, I'm a 21-year-old community college student and part-time sales associate at a local department store. When I graduate, I hope to transfer to a four-year university to study fashion design and possibly illustration. In what little spare time I have, I enjoy drawing, reading, playing videogames and MMORPGs, shopping, and doing other fun things.

On Gaia, I'm an oldbie lurker. I spend most of my time on Gaia playing with my avatar and my home, making themes for my profile, reading threads in Art Discussion and other forums, and posting in a few threads and the guilds I belong to. Sometimes I like to post outside the threads where I feel comfortable posting, but for the most part I like to keep to myself and my friends. However, I've always wanted to create an art shop on Gaia, and hopefully it'll be as awesome as I've always wanted it to be. ^^
