The concept:

Profile commenting can earn you a lot of gold in a very little time. However, if you're new to Gaia, you probably don't have many friends yet to leave comments. This is a community to help you network.

Profile comments don't have to be in-depth discussions. A simple smiley will get you gold, with very little effort on your part.

The really wonderful part of this is you control your comments! So if you don't like one, or just want to clean them up, you can delete it off your profile! There's no risk to you AND you get to earn gold!

The Rules:

1. Don't PM or leave comments for any users who have volunteered for this list begging for donations. Get your gold by leaving comments on their profiles.

2. Leave a comment in this thread asking to be added to list of people who don't mind receiving random comments on their profiles to help you and them earn gold. Mules are welcome!

3. No page stretching or trolling, please.

4. Make sure you have allowed commenting from anyone in your account settings, instead of friends only, for instance. If people can't add comments to your profile, it defeats the purpose of the community.

5. If you wish to be removed from the Green Member list, PM me, and I will move you to the Red Member list.

6. Follow all of Gaia's Terms of Service.

7. Not following these rules, or other acts of insanity, will entitle you to a spot on the Black Names list.

I was just wondering how people would earn gold from this. neutral

Many people start on Gaia with hardly any friends, and don't know profile comments can earn you gold, or don't want to "spam" random comments. Also, there are a ton of mules running around out there.

This would be a way for people or their mules to find others who don't mind random comments on their profiles to help them earn gold. In return, they would agree to receiving random profile comments themselves.

Plus, you don't have to add anyone in the community as your friend, unless you want to do so. Anytime you wish to earn gold by profile commenting, just drop by the first page of this thread and click any Green Member's profile link in the post below.

[A]fter you comment a bunch on different profiles, you end up making relatively less gold.

That's true; however, everything you do on Gaia, besides selling and trading, earns you less and less gold each time you do it during any one 24-hour period. This is just a way for people to also get daily gold by commenting on profiles, in addition to the other ways you can earn gold. Having many options is better than having few options.

Facts about Commenting, Polls, and Earning Gold on Gaia:

Last Updated: June 22, 2007

1. For your first profile comment each day you can earn 40 gold?

2. Commenting in the Arenas is the same as profile commenting? So 40 gold for your first post either on a profile OR in the Arenas, but not both.

3. You get 50 gold for your daily first post in the Forums?

4. Polls in the Forums and Guilds earn the same gold as votes in the Arenas? So you get 14 gold for your first poll OR vote, but not both.

5. A combination of profile comments, Arena comments, poll votes, and Arena votes can keep you from getting bored and earn you awesome surfing gold?

6. Every time you do something that earns you gold on Gaia for that day, besides selling and trading items, you earn a first bonus gold, and thereafter you receive less and less gold for that same action.

7. The Gaia system resets itself at Midnight PST ever day, which resets your gold earning ability, along with those nifty Daily Chances.

8. You must wait 30 seconds after making a forum post or profile comment before you can make a new post or profile comment? Having multiple tabs or windows open can help you earn gold faster. Open one page open to posts, and the other to profiles or this thread, and you can alternate between the two without little chance running into that pesky "FOO Database Error" or "You must wast 30 seconds between comments (17)" message because you will be earning gold by doing a different action during those 30 seconds! A 60 second flood control seems to be in place for pm's. Sometimes, it can also be 60 second between profile comments.

9. The code you use in the Forums can also be used in profile commenting? So you can make the profile comments you leave interesting, if you so choose.

10. You can earn gold playing certain games without having to spend tokens? Word Bumb and Puzzles are terrific ways to earn gold, don't require tokens to play, and you can even get bonus items!

11. Once an event has ended, the items you collect to get the prizes can no longer be traded in for the prizes? So unless you just want those small items, or can sell them while the event is still on-going, they really aren't something to keep as you cannot equip them or make prize items with after the event has ended.
