Why did gaia take the navigation bar away with out even warning
us they should of at least had a poll on if we should leave it or change it!
(Yes I know about the thread in the site feed back that told about it,
but we need an actual announcement!)
True the top things are much more eisier than they were, but not as easy as the bar was.
Gaia should at least put both...

Just like when they took away the premade examples for the monthly
collectables with out warning. I loved that bar it wade navigation so easy
and now when ever I look at my avatar in the top right hand corner it feels so...empty

This is an interim step. It is changing. We are getting a new layout eventually. You won't be getting the old navigation back, to my knowledge, but you should be getting something better.

Gaia just does not listen to us. No matter how many petitions we sign, I really don't think it helps. I think all the mods know that Gaia is going down the drain.

Ever since that was added,my whole navigation has gone horrible. I can't get anywhere unless I find a way or I find a link. The options that are supposed to be appear under under My Gaia and all that won't appear. My avatar is in the middle of the screen and The thing that says My name and the log out thing. It's behind everything. I need help.

Gaia Online has been seeing a lot of changes recently. But this time, I think they went a bit too far.
The admins replaced the home page, which was perfect just the way it was. I wish we had that back. But our quick links?! Now isn't that going a bit too far?

I can't just click the mail button to read OLD messages.

Ahhh Gaia I just wanna say how I love what you did to the navigator because you know I think everyone will enjoy this, but the thing is, I was lying because NO ONE LIKES THIS NEW NAVIGATOR!
As most of you users DIDNT know (or just didnt bother to read the STICKYS). Gaia decided that it'd be a good idea to make the navigator to look better and to get rid of the quick links, but it turned out to be the EXACY OPPOSITE of a good idea. Oh what is it called?......OH YEAH!

Now I normally dont complain about these sort of things, but seeing this new feature just made me want to do this, and trust me im NOT the only one who's doing this. Infact like 10-20 people have already complained regarding this. So its clear that YOU ****ED UP.
Now how does this new navigator suck? Well its not that it sucks its how you made it work is what sucks. You cant get the forums quickly, you cant get the market quickly. **** you cant get ANYWHERE quickly and you call THIS a good idea? I call that ****ing up something that was completely useless and your workers thought taking out the quick links was a good idea? **** if I was the manager i'd slap them for that, but considering I dont work there well I cant, but even so i'd want to because it was stupid.
What also makes this thing worse is that once you view everything ITS GONE FOR GOOD! All is left is the INFINATE WHITE SPACE OF ABYSS and there's NOTHING you can do to get it back and the only way it comes back is if some idiot PMs you or something, but even so its stupid.
So what is it im trying to tell you admins? Well let me put it in FIVE WORDS.
BRING! BACK! THE! ORIGINAL! NAVIGATOR!
I dont care how hard and long it took you to make this, but if you made something that pisses off 10-20 or OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAND!!!! people like this crappy navigator you made then you NEED TO GET RID OF IT! So I suggest you do that now before everyone raids this place with complaints. So yeah thats my feedback.

Hey, guys. I hate to complain, you know me. The changes up to now have been awesome. I usually give things a chance and fall in love or cope but this new navigation system is more difficult for me to accept.
The old way was easier to see event notifications, was prettier, cleaner, and easier to navigate with. It was more professional.
I really liked having the picture icons right at the top of the page and I used those almost exclusively to get around. They had all my favorite places to go arranged in a nice, tidy spot that made getting there quick and easy.
Now I gotta go through sub options to get to my places.
Also...that big white space is bothering me...just on aesthetic reasons.
*cry* Please, can you give us a choice to use the new system or not? a "Classic or Modern" option???? Purreesuu?!?
Side note: Our displayed Avi's are even smaller now and the compression is causing a grainy appearance. They're our identities; I'd like to see it enlarged a little again.

Gaia, listen, a lot of people want the old nav bar back. I mean, it makes it so much easier for us to navigate that way. I like to new menu, but the nav bar I don't like and many other members do not like it either. I hate to say this, but you kind of over did it. I think people are kind of too lazy to go through the menu to get to their mail ect.

Not get me wrong, it's nice that it notifies me of something new, but frankly the old system also did the same thing.
I prefer the older navigation system than the new one.
It had all the important things that I frequently access and a quick access without scrolling to the link menu to get at what I want.
Now with it gone. It's back to the old scrolling, or waiting for something new to pop up to get access to it.
I don't understand, why things always get tampered with when there were no huge problems prior, to me it seems to be something more related to cosmetics of the site than convenience.
Oh well, for now I'll retire back to the Gaia tektek toolbar.

I've been with Gaia since '03 and have stuck with it through many of it's changes (some good, others bad), but honestly, this layout changes makes everything so much more difficult.
Yes, the new layout is helpful for telling you that you have announcements, trades and whatever else... but those old buttons did the exact same thing, and were there even when you didn't have an unread PM, or a trade waiting on you.
I'm so used to quickly being able to find my subscribed threads, or quickly getting to the marketplace without much trouble, I keep scrolling my mouse over to where the buttons used to be.

Hey. ^.^ Sorry, but the changes with the notification stuff and the way to get around SUCKS. Especially if you're one of the people who use the arrow and go to the marketplace and such from there, I'm one of those. I personally think that gaia should go back to the way it was and leave it be, gaia was fine the way it was. I'm just being honest and feeding back.

It seems that most people on here are having more trouble and annoyance with the new layout then anything constructive.
I love gaia very much, and I totally appreciate the cool new things we get. Alas, the new layout is really not working for firefox users.
As others have mentioned, the quick launch buttons dissapear when I move my cursor towards them. And on firefox, I use to be able to just hold my cursor over the top tabs and have the bottom row appear.
Now not only do I have to click on the tabs to make the lower ones appear, I can't even go to them.
Please, please give us an option to go back to the old style!!!

Ok I know Gaia as given me wonderful improvement after wonderful improvement. However, this newest one with the removal of the quick navi. "column" or bar has me rather put off.

The avatar looks displaced, and the fact that you've taken out picture notifications and replaced them with text...along with the fact that you guys messed up the layout more than enough when you took out all the colour and replaced it with that horrid white...doesn't make the site look better. You wanna know what it DOES do? It makes it look like you guys don't know how to make graphics, that's what it looks like.
And another thing, yeah, huge problem, see that screenie? See how there's nothing under "Community"? See how it's blank? Yeah, that's what I get when I click on it. Or anything else. Blank. I don't get that drop-down menu Gambino was talking about either. Looks like you guys lied to us, too.
If the reason that my Gaia looks like this is because of something about my browser, may I please ask you, Gaia, NOT to go screwing up the site if it's going to not work on all servers? I'd like to not have to change my computer everytime you guys decide that you want to do something stupid like give the site a makeover that it doesn't need.
And another thing, you guys didn't even give us a survey on this!! You made a Sticky /telling/ us that there will be change. You didn't /ask/ us and obviously you hardly read any of the posts that people made there. Seeing as the whole point of the site is to please us, wouldn't you say that you should probably NOT piss everyone off every other week with some stupid, unneccessary change that no one even asked for?
The page is aslo now unreasonably large and taken up with blank space.

Gaia, I know you say that you won't put things off just to fix something else. But seriously...the unneccessary changes...Don't you think it's a good idea to put off messing up one part of the site until you fix a part that you already know you messed up? Like the ads on the PM page. Yes, I'm USED to it by now. But I still DON'T LIKE it. They were just fine at the side of the page, WHY, WHY did you have to move them above the box like that? They're twice as obnoxious now, and it's now a lot harder to ignore those stupid "True" dating ads.
And this navigation update is supposed to make things easier! It's HARDER and it takes LONGER!! You have to go up, mouseover and look in the list for your Friendslist, PM Box, Trades, Quests and Announcements if you want to look at old ones without needing to wait for a new one. It was a lot easier, and better-looking, when we could just click on the icons quickly whenever we wanted to.

okay, so I come onto gaia after getting home from school, and I wanna check my subscribed threads.

now, I don't know about other gaians, but I'm getting really annoyed with all the changes.
it's so hard to get to my subscribed threads now! plus, they already had a system that told you what was new, and where before, and it worked great!

The navigation bar addressed that by putting the most commonly-used things in an easily accessible place- common sense, by most standards- so that users could find the things they wanted quickly.
Even if it wasn't customizable to the things each person used most (there's an idea. Customization! Happiness for everyone! Lots of sites let you pick from past layouts, why not this one- especially with such a large userbase), it was a good system.
I'll give this one a try before I criticize it for real, but I must say it immediately stood out to me as an inconvinience. At this point, when I log onto the site and see updates, my reaction is closer to, 'ugh, what did they change this time?' than excitement.

When you move your mouse over them, a menu will open showing all the navigation options under that link (for example, if you move your mouse over the Community link, you'll see links for Forums, Guilds, Arenas, Marketplace, etc.).

I can't read my amount of gold. The "hovering" doesn't work for me- I have to click each link to get the drop down menu. This hovering worked for me before they changed the layout. The use of words instead of icons is stupid too. They could have kept the icons, and just used the new bubble like the are now.

I've never complained, but this time I gotta add my voice. I know we were "warned," but I felt that it could have been a good thing in implementation. But actually seeing it implemented for me, it's positively horrible. Navigation for me is now slower, since I can't directly access the places I need to go. It's not a matter of laziness...it's that because the quick link buttons are now gone, I have to spend more time surfing instead of getting directly to business. It takes time away from me and those who I correspond with. Aesthetically, the header now looks really bare. It's just my avi, name, and gold...and then a ton of white until the left of the screen with the image. Something should've been put there at the very least to make it feel less barren and empty. confused
I think Gaia should give it's users the option to utilize the old system as well as the new system. I'm sure there's lots of users who like the new system, and all the power to them, but I for one would like to see the old system return. To me it is as if Gaia took a step backwards in navigation instead of a step forwards.

I think that pretty much says it all. Why does Gaia have to make so many changes? The new features like the cinema aren't a problem (in fact I actually like the new features), but a new interface?
I understand that this takes a lot of work and everyone's taking their time and effort into putting this into action, but honestly, it's getting incredibly old.

I really think the change was very uncalled for. We can still have this wierd thought buble, but I would love the idea of having an option to either have the bubble or else the navigation bar.
A lot of the time, I will want to get a link from a past announcement or I will have a trade open for a long time and check on it by clicking the trade link we once had.. now I have to dig to find these things... and that is definately unfavorable to me. To the newer community that is still getting used to gaia, this bubble could be useful and easier but for me, I would rather have every link I could possibly want right next to my avi just like before.

I dont care much for the hovering thing, but the quick navigation bar there was before was really nice. Especially the "subscribed threads" button, which was only a click away. Now its like, two xD Yea, it's only a one click difference, but it takes up a lot of time especially for those with slow connection.
Basically, whoop dee doo for the hovering, glad we have it. But hey, since it's real empty up there anyways, why not put the nav. bar back?

First off, I DONT SEE WHY THE HELL THEY CHANGED IT. =_=; My firefox browser suddenly cant click any of the links on the Blue "Home, my gaia, etc." and before it could! AND, I relied on that bar by your avatar! I used that for everything! NOW im forced to have to type in the Adress bar where I want to go on gaia. WTF?! They had better fix this soon...
My suggestion: Put it as a OPTION in your account preferences for this crap. Some peoples browsers might work better with this, but not mine! AGH!

This is simply absurd. They completely remove an integral part of using Gaia, and without any warning unless you frequent this forum. I can make do without the options that are available in the new system, but where the heck is my thread subscription button? Yes, I know I can still access them, but I am involved in a couple roleplays and a VG thread, and they sometimes move at a frighteningly fast pace. Being able to see the status of these threads was vital in keeping up with with them. Now I have to go to the forums main page, and find the small, hard-to-see link near the top of the forum menu. Yes, I realize that this is only one extra click. What I'd normally do though is right-click on the subscription button and open it in a new window, letting it load as I continued about whatever else I was doing. Yes, now I let the forum page load, and click on it once I get there. What people who are saying the new system is fine don't understand is that, by taking two clicks instead of one, you are doubling the time it takes to do it. Also, I must agree with everyone who's already mentioned this; that big, empty white space is VERY unattractive, and the thought bubble is juvenile and is only useful if you have new activity. I loved that about the old system; you could still go to the various pages without there having to be something new there. Also, by not having to go through the main pages (My Gaia, Community, Games, etc.), then will daily chance be removed under the radar as well? I know I don't really use it, but if I was a newbie without any decent items, I'd be clicking them every chance I got.

However, I totally agree that the "quickbar" should not have been exchanged for the thought bubbles. They're nice, and cute, but as everyone has said ad nauseum, it takes longer to get where you want for certain things, like mail, or changing outfits. I rather valued the little shirt icon that allowed me to get to my "change room" fast and efficiently. That was the ONLY direct link to that. It's an option that doesn't actually make it to the menu button (feel free to correct me someone ^^ )
I may have a fast internet connection, but a sleek interface makes me happy, and slow users who's every Kb count, are just as valuable, too.

Being a Gaia veteran of over a year (yeah... not that long, but I've been around) I've seen many site changes that the admins have made. I do have to agree that they should warn us about the changes, and give the people a poll as to whether or not the change should be made. After all, us Gaians are the ones using this site. It had literally become our world, and shouldn't we have a say as to whether it changes or not?

Gaia has this way of, "It's not broken, no one is complaining, but we intend to change it anyway." philospohy. I personally liked the original layout better, even before the bar next to us. But, this is definetly a downgrade from the bar, it does feel empty and if I want to review my mail it would take more than one simple click. Also, when I want to change my avatar it takes more clicks! So, I end my statement on, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
