Welcome to the Lunar Festival, sponsored by the Dragon Kyns Shop. We're here to celebrate the Lunar Species in this month-long event with everything from games to a special one-species flatsale. We hope that you'll stick around, and check out the variety of species the shop has to offer!

June is a special month, perfect for the Lunar Festival, because of the two blue moons that we are expected to have on the 1st and 30th of the month. We encourage everyone to take an opportunity to step outside and take a look at the sky this month as these events in nature are rare.

Auction Rules:
-Each bid must increase by at least 100g
-No fighting, squabbling, or arguing about/with someone bidding higher than you
-Do not discourage anyone else from bidding either in this thread or through PMs
-If you don't have the gold on hand at that moment, don't bid because you can't pay for it
- Items will not be accepted
- Snipe Rule: if someone bids within half an hour of the auction's end, then the auction will be extended another half an hour ad infinitum. In other words, if Person A bids at 12:40 and the auction ends at 1:00, then the auction is now extended until 1:30. It will not be extended to 2:00 unless someone bids past 1:00.

For auction during this festival, we have Kahyou's rendition of Amaterasu from Okami! She is another growing cosplay Kyn, so she will begin as an egg and grow into adulthood. Please be sure to follow all of the rules, as well as the bidding guidelines!

In order to place a bid on her, please make sure to post in bold, red, size 18 font. If you don't follow this format, then your bid may be lost!

Flatsale Rules:
-Eggs are 3,000g each.
-Do not post until I say go.
-Post the number of the egg that you want.
-Each person is allowed to purchase 1 egg per flatsale.
- A person can purchase 1 egg for a friend.
-Payment must be received soon after posting.
-Trade must be titled with the egg number, name of kyn, cert type, and cert color.

Please keep in mind that all standard flatsale rules from the main thread still apply. The only exception to the normal flatsale is that this one is going to be strictly Lunar Kyn. The species seems to be small in number, and hopefully a plain old flatsale will help to boost their population.

Lunar Obstacle Race

The Lunar Obstacle Race is the first event of this type to occur in the Kyn Shop's history, and the first step to sign-up is to join the Kyn Guild (which is entirely free). The Obstacle Race combines chance with role-play to offer a unique experience for all members. There are multiple prizes in varying categories, as well. Each owner has a limited amount of time (about a week) to complete all the challenges or be disqualified. Incomplete courses will not be counted in judging at all. Each owner is allowed to enter more than one Lunar Kyn, but they get no extension to complete the course.

The Game
The Lunar Obstacle Race is an event designed only for adult Lunar competitors. Each Lunar faces the same set of obstacles, which won't be revealed until closer to the event. Each of the obstacles has a varying difficulty which is determined by a numerical range. An obstacle that is difficulty 8 is actually easier to overcome than one that is difficulty 5. This is because difficulty 8 means the obstacle has 8 different ways in which it can be overcome, while difficulty 5 has only five different ways. The competitor approaches an obstacle and uses Gaia to randomly generate a number from 1 to 10. If the number generated matches one of the numbers of the obstacle, the competitor successfully passes it. If it doesn't, then they must continue to roll until they can pass it.

The competition has two aspects of judgement: role-playing and speed combined with chance. At least the first two who complete the Obstacle Race in the fewest number of posts will receive first and third picks of the Lunar Kyn eggs. The second place choice goes to the person who role-plays how they approach, overcome, fail, and retry their obstacles.

Entry fee: 750g

In order to register your adult (or soon to be adult) Lunar Kyn for the event, please fill out the following form, post it in the thread, and send the trade to the mule to cover the entry fee. Your post must be in bold, blue font to be counted. Remember, the entry fee is per Lunar, so if you are entering multiple Lunars you must pay for more than one entry fee. All Lunars from the Lunar-only flatsale should be adult, and therefore able to compete, by the time of the event.

A question that has already been asked is if an owner may lend out their Lunar for someone else to ride. Our RP Master Ganon has decided that it is indeed alright to do so, however there must be RP between the two owners. Link(s) must be provided to where the owner is asked, and how their Lunar Kyn responds to this quest. Lunars are very prideful creatures, and very much den oriented. They must understand that all the glory that they get through the race goes not to them or to their den, but to the rider.

Lunar Joke Competition
poke mattix decided that it would be a great idea to have a joke competition, and was wonderful enough to even donate the Gaia item prize of the Celestial Wrap! This is open to everyone, and entries should be posted in the thread so that everyone can have a good laugh.

How to Play
Simply think of a joke, or something else that will make us laugh, and post it in this thread. The only limitation is that it must relate to Lunars, Kyn, or dragons and must be under PG-13. Feel free to use images, text, etc, but be original with your ideas and don't just copy someone else.

A Change of Heart

Far to the northwest, off the mainland, there was a gathering of Kyn of a kind that had not been seen for many hundreds of years. Those who had known them thought them dead, and perhaps their resurfacing at this crucial time marked a point of peace or an upcoming storm. There were eight gathered around a large fire, their size larger than any normal adult Kyn. One rose to his feet, wiping a paw through the stretch of fur that hung from his chin. He was among the smaller two, though still on size with a mainland Gargoyle.

"I think it is time," his voice slipped from him, reverant and low as he addressed the group. A tail stirred in the forest, brushing an adult oak that shivered from the contact. The spined face, looming over all but two others in the group, whom the tail belonged to, spoke in return, "Take your gift to the others, we two will wait."

Yet another spoke, the smallest figure in the group, turning to face the original speaker, "I will wait as well."

This same chorus rose from the remaining throats before things silenced again. The speaker withdrew from the gathering to hurry his preparations, while the others remained.

The Moon

There is legend that, at one time long ago, Lunar Kyn were able to capture and harness the light of the moon to allow them to grow in size and power beyond that of other Kyn. Does the changing color of the moon this month speak that Lunars may have that ability again? And how long will this opportunity last?

A nomination period is upon us. Only adult male Lunar Kyn who have been RPed or have the intention of being RPed are eligible. Another Lunar Kyn from outside the den are the only ones able to elect one of their peers, and they must do so without being requested and without telling the other rider or Kyn. If this rule is violated, if someone requests that their Kyn or one of their Kyn be nominated, then all requests concerning one of their Kyn, whether they already were made, will be ignored. Likewise, bragging about such nominations, or telling someone that you nominated their Kyn before the reveal period will cause those nominations to be ignored. This will be very strictly enforced.

There is no telling if good or bad or anything at all will come of this. Take any nominations that you do seriously. Do know that, as soon as possible, the Kyn you nominated will be alerted. They and you alone will know about it until the reveal. It is crucial to not tell others that your Kyn has been nominated. If your Kyn is nominated multiple times, you will only be alerted the first time. Multiple nominations will be revealed when all accepted Lunar males are revealed. The Kyn will have the opportunity to reject the nomination at the time they are told. There is only one opportunity to accept or reject and this cannot be changed. Be careful what you choose.

Although we encourage everyone to nominate multiple adult male Lunar Kyn, we also want you to understand that this is a high point of respect and a lot of responsibility you are offering to someone else. Make your choice(s) are fantastic, and put effort into your nomination forms. They should show some form of great courage, or intelligence, or something that sets them apart from other Lunars.

Cosplay Kyn, heavily edited Kyn (in which they would not be considered a model Kyn), and mixed breeds (even if predominantly Lunar) are not allowed to be nominated, unfortunately.

To hopefully help eliminate any misunderstandings in the future, these guidelines may be a little strange but they are in place for a reason.

All nomination forms should be PMed to the mule with the title specifically labeled: 'Moon Nomination'.

There is no telling how long the nomination period will last, or what will be the result. Send in your forms, but do not hesitate for too long. Nominations, for now, are open.

Gifted Kyn Rules and Regulations

It is a rare opportunity for a Kyn to be given the honor of accepting a gift. So rare, in fact, that there are specific rules surrounding it.

1. No more than two Kyn of any species a month may receive any of the Gifts, and no more than two of any species a month may use their Gift.

2. A Kyn must be voted to their position to use their Gift.

3. Gifts are limited in number and can only be earned or purchased at certain points and only in limited stock. Only one or two Gifts of any one type will be sold per month. Roleplay to receive a Gift may only be open for short periods of time each month. Purchasing a Gift will be costly. Roleplaying for one will take a lot of time.

4. A single Kyn Owner may not have more than one of their Kyn use their Gift in a span of three months.

5. A single Kyn Owner may not, at this point in time, own more than one Kyn who has used their Gift per species.

Rules are subject to change and alteration as needed.

The price is a staggering 15,ooo gold for something they are unsure of what it does.
