Welcome to Gaia! ::

So, let's say that the Admins aren't yanking our chains with those whole, "X lives," thing, and that there's no sneakery, like a new X 'inheriting' the position, or anything like that.

So, we've got an apparently dead X. That's okay. We've also got the G-Virus, or at least, a few hundred Gaians left around infected as grombies. We've also got a few potential Grunnies that escaped; the fact that X stabbed Gino with G-Virus so it's possible there's more of where that came from, and so on.

And, I've posited before now that a natural strain of the virus exists in the wild. Since I can't find my old thread for this, I'll just say that the original G-Virus probably came from the Durem Reclamation Facility.

So, the simplest conclusion from all this? Some strain of the G-Virus is used on X to bring him back. Or he survived the Gambino fusion blast (but I find this a bit boring). Or - a real long shot on my part - X injected himself with the G-Virus prior to injecting Gino, knowing he might not survive.

Now, quite a few gamers and movie-goers will recognise that the original G CORP plot bore a lot of similarity to Resident Evil. Umbrella Corp created a T Virus that brought dead cells back to life, etc. etc.

In RE, there was this really big beefy character named Nemesis. In both the films and the movies he was the result of injecting the T Virus into a human, who then suffered mutations, and - with a bit of cybernetic engineering on Umbrella's part - was turned into a near unstoppable monster.

So, my speculation is, "what if," we get a Nemesis X? The main problem with it is that there isn't all that much plot hinting at it (unlike The Masque and First Contact), and - of course, the main problem surprised - I can't work out a potential Hallowe'en game based around it. lol

But one other thing does come to mind, which is a clip from the movie. Nemesis engages a group of S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics And Rescue Squad), at the beginning of which a sniper tries to shoot Nemesis down as he has been zombies, and the bullets do pretty much nothing (one of the cooler scenes from the movie, in my opinion). Sniper vs X? It could happen (and would be intensely cool). surprised

'course the likelihood of this being accurate is fairly low. Unlike previous plot speculation where we've had concrete hints from the manga, all we've got at the moment is a storyline involving aliens, love triangles, 19 ZURG triangles, and a virus that turns people into rabbits. God only knows where we're going next. wink
To be honest, i believe that all workable plot theories can be worked in here. Perhaps the "X Lives" thing is pure coincidence. Perhaps our speculation could lead nowhere.

But i believe all theories are valid in this case if they can be properly connected.

(i still think it'd be cool if X had in fact pulled an Albert Wesker cool and injected himself with the strain).

To branch into a personal theory, i believe there may be 4 strains of the Gaia/Gino/G Virus.

G` Strain: Unleashed in October 2004. Created zombies of a generic type. No special characteristics.

GR Strain: Unleashed in October 2005. Created "Grombies" with the special characteristic of super pale skin, protrusions on one's head, or a full-grown Grunny attached to their head. Said to have originated as a mixture of rabbit blood and G` Strain that inhabited the first host (nicknamed "Lord Grunny" wink and spread to other test subjects (or perhaps host cloned from prime host). THANKS TO CAPTAIN WICKIT FOR HIS OWN THEORY

Giovanni Strain: Discovered in April 2005 and April 2006. Gino and Johnny K. both share this strain. Johnny K. is a special case, as his genes were mutated to copy the actions of a parasite. Gino's genes were mutated so that he would be the host body of the parasite. The strain might have been temporarily negated by "Gino's" being injected with a foreign substance - X Strain.

X Strain: Developed by LabtechX. Released in October 2004 as antidote to the G` Strain, and again in 2005 as antidote to GR Strain. Used in April 2006 to force separation of the two Giovanni-infected Gambinos. May be of the exact same strength as the Giovanni Strain, but an opposite polarity. However, massive doses of X Strain can lead to aggressive and violent psychosis.

I'm kind of hoping he doesn't become more of a monster. X is my favorite NPC, and it's his brains and tricks that make him so great. Add in the complete monster factor and you've lost the best part of his character.

In a way he is/was like Nemisis. He was normal for starters, then grew to a massive size.

We'll see. Hopefully he'll be involved when the Zurg return.

Yeah, different strains is an interesting possibility. There'd also be the GMech Strain as it were, that reanimates the flesh and fuses it to metal and so on, as in the S CORP plot.
i doubt that to be the case, Calmer. The X strain is still a virus, but it's a curative virus. However, as we have seen with LabtechX, Flarn and Santa in 2005, the virus has adverse side effects (violent psychosis).
There is something going down, since, ling, Castus, and someone else acted.. 'diffrent' in theese posts.

I hope not, Nemesis is scary...

Well, the plot did say that, "in dealing with an unknown genetic substance Santa became fused with his GTMS and mutated into an unstoppable force powered only by his hatred of Jack."

For Flarn, I was always under the impression that use of the G Virus in his transformation was pure speculation on part of the GIB/Believers.

Granted his new look and behavior, there is good cause to believe that Flarn was supplied the X Strain by some group.

Well, the Zurg Energy drink is much like the Virus, and there were strong implications that the Virus was used for Flarn.

They all got abducted a long time back too. confused

It wouldn't suprise me if that was the case, yes; I just consider that it's always possible there's some other ZURG method of regeneration, until (if) we're told that the G Virus was used. 3nodding

Hmm, mixing the ZURG Energy drink and the G Virus. Interesting theory. eek

Well, note that the Zurg energy drink and Red Bino work much like the corrupt G-Virus and Vial of Unknown liquid. Not to mention G-Corp was involved in the Energy drink war.
The virus was based off of the Gaian genome. The Zurg genome is radically different from the gaian ... and with Flarn's adopting more "gaian" characteristics, there's good (but not solid) evidence that Flarn was treated or injected with something based off of gaian genetics.

This could redefine incompatibility.

Eloquent Lunatic

I'm almost positive the Virus was used. If I'm not mistaken, Flarn was helped by Gaians. The Virus takes on the most powerful traits of different beings. Gaian + Zurg = Hybrid, and it would help him live (much like Santas revival with the machine)
