Xanos stretched his arms and ran his fingers through his hair, which was currently slightly spiked. A young man, rather demon, sat strewn across a large metal chair, with one leg hanging over the chair's arm. He bore black form-fitting jeans, and a maroon colored muscle shirt. Hanging from his neck was a silver pendent of an upside down pentagram with a dagger running through it; a studded belt with a matching belt buckle wrapped around his waist. Around his right wrist was a cuff style metal bracelet with his name engraved into it in Latin. To top it off he wore tactical boots.
Xanos was the son of an influential demonic leader named Amdusias. His father's greatest ambition was to take over the underworld. He had long ago assembled a small army of followers and is renowned for his legion's loyalty and ferocity. While well-known among demons the legends often misrepresent his true appearance. But that was never a matter of concern to him. Reputation alone was good enough.
Despite Lord Amdusias' constant attempts to overthrow current rule, at many times he'd been very close, there was always some annoying heir to the throne ruining his plans. Having ties to the Source – or in Belthazar, rather Cole's case, simply obtaining the Source’s essence – seems to bring much support among the reigning leaders of the underworld. In any case, the point was that something was constantly standing in the way. As of one week ago, there was one more thing standing in daddy dearest's way: Death. You see, while attempting to retrieve some powerful ancient artifact he met his untimely demise at the hands of some lucky witch. Hmm, isn’t it always an ancient artifact? Never a mystic bunny. Of course not; that would just be stupid wouldn’t it? Don’t worry, justice was served. The little wretch was killed by a couple of his father’s bodyguards shortly after. They too met their end at Xanos’ hand. Their incompetence would not be tolerated.
Enough about his father, he was no longer relevant. Besides, it's not like families in the underworld were enormously close. It was a weakness that all humans allowed themselves, and only served to make them vulnerable. The point was that now he was in charge of father’s faction and they had high expectations of him. Almost everyone did at least. Some within the organization wish to get rid of him and find a new leader. After all, how could they be expected to follow the son of a witch? Not that Xanos ever wanted to remember that. It was disgusting part of him that he wished to be rid of. Well regardless, he wouldn't disappoint those who would choose to support him. With the underworld in turmoil and the Triad out of the picture, many of playing for the revered position of the source, and the ceremony that granted the winner his powers. They would prove a great asset to him. And having control of the underworld wouldn't be half bad either.
The demon glanced around his headquarters. His father's dwelling was dreary. Amdusias was a collector of dark armor and weapons, both of which Xanos didn’t mind at all. However, the thing that bothered him about this place was the cave like atmosphere. Yes, they were in the underworld. It didn’t mean they had to live like rats. Jeez, a little style wouldn't kill the guy. A stereo system wouldn't hurt either. Despite being evil, demons still had their tastes, you know. Xanos in particular was quite found of alternative rock music and the colors black, navy, and maroon. He was also a very big sushi addict. Hey, even evil entities were entitles to their quirks.
"Sir, Lucus is engaging the eldest Charmed One in battle right now. How should we proceed?" A demon inturrupted his thoughts.
"Don't help him." Xanos replied cooly.
"But sir! I-"
"Are you questioning me?"
"No sir." the demon's tan complexion paled.
"Good."
The demon hesitated. "Then what should I do?"
"Observe her." Xanos stated as if it was more than obvious. "Go, now."
Without another word, the demon shimmer out and appeared in Golden Gate Park's north end.
"Incompetent fools. I won't make the same mistakes all the rest have made." Xanos mused. "The key to the Charmed Ones' defeat is to know them better than they know themselves. Yes, that's the ticket."
