Backstory: Lyrix weren't created in a lab, or by any person in particular. In fact, these pets aren't even tangible, physical things! Lyrix are what their 'song' represents, as an idea, a feeling, or a presence. Since every song deals with a different subject (sadness, joy, misery, pain), every Lyrix is different.

In short, Lyrix are graphic representations of a song's inner, deeper meaning.

As an infant, your Lyrix will take an object or an idea. My Lyrix, Decafne, is the representation of the song "Dog Coffee," so her object is a coffee cup. The Lyrix will then mould his or her presence around this object or idea, and will grow up based off of that!

Growth Stages: The growth of a Lyrix depends on how often you come in the thread. If you are active here, your Lyrix will grow much faster than if you only come in and say hello once a week! There will be stages past adult- however, they are all still in a concept stage that I am not ready to release yet.

How do I get a Lyrix? You can get a Lyrix through a flatsale, auction, raffle, pet trade, or just as a gift from me. I will post somewhere in this thread whenever I am going to make new Lyrix available, and usually you will have to explain to me which song you like, and why you would like to own a Lyrix, in order to obtain one.

What can I do with my Lyrix? You can roleplay your Lyrix, put it in your signature, whatever! As this thread grows, there will be more fun and new opportunities for you to roleplay or just hang out, here. I've already hosted the Generation 1 Wrap party, which was really successful, and I'm hoping to have a lot more parties like it. ^^;

How much does a Lyrix cost? Each Lyrix costs 3000 gold. (Why does it cost so much? Because all the art is unique, silly!)

What about breeding? Lyrix can breed once they reach adulthood. The two representations will join together to take on the presence of another song by either artist. Lyrix can have 2 offspring, one from each artist. Breeding costs 5000 gold (Or 2500g from each owner). I will put up an announcement when breeding slots are open.

Can two male Lyrix breed? Yes, any Lyrix can breed with any other Lyrix. They're just given genders for fun and spontanaeity.

Woah!!! Why are the new Lyrix grey instead of black? The generation 2 Lyrix are grey because I wanted a change of pace ^^; Future generations may be different colors too.

Do Lyrix die? No! Music never dies! (Disco isn't dead, either!) eek

The rules are simple! Please follow them:

1. Please do not steal any of my art or concepts. I researched this forum to see if I could find any pets that were music-related, and couldn't find any! I respect everyone else when it comes to pets, and I hope everyone will respect mine.

2. It takes me a long time to make this artwork, I ask that you don't redistribute it without giving me proper credit.

3. If you are going to be very negative or nasty, don't do it in my thread, please.

4. Right now there is a limited number of Lyrix available, because the art is very time-consuming. Though it hasn't happened, I want to say pre-emptively- don't ask me too much! I know it's frustrating for other petshop owners, and I really don't want to have to get on anyone's bad sides for having to decline more than once.

5. You don't need to roleplay (RP) your Lyrix every day to make sure it grows up! But I do expect you to stop by at least once or twice a week, just for me to make sure that you haven't abandoned your pet. Otherwise, I would feel forced to take your pet away from you. I don't want to do that, so please take responsibility for your Lyrix!

6. Lyrix are not journal-only pets. The option to have a journal is just that- an option! I do, however, suggest that if you want to keep a journal, contact me first, or read the soon-to-be-made post below, with information on how to start and keep a journal.

Lyrix are a funny breed of pet. They do not like to be viewed as "owned" so much as they like to be "adopted!" As a surrogate parent, you have a responsibility to take care of your Lyrix. By this, I mean to ask that if you own one, just drop by this thread every once in a while to say "Hello!"

If you'd prefer to go out on your own with your Lyrix, you may do so by putting the image in your signature, or even going so far as to make a journal! If you'd like to make a journal, just contact me and I will start one for you, or if you'd like to start one yourself, just PM me the link and I will post it next to your pet's image in this thread.

Enjoy looking through this pseudo-photo-album of the current Lyrix!

Note: All first generation Lyrix are black or dark grey, as infants. Generation 2 are all very light grey, or even white, as infants. This is how you tell the difference between the generations. ^^;

Knotes are little creatures that accompany the Lyrix. There are two different classes of Knote: Dependent and Independent. Dependent Knotes are to be kept as pets for your Lyrix. Independent Knotes, however, have their own certificates which look like this:

If you have a Lyrix, and would like them to have a Knote, an asterisk (*) will appear on your cert as soon as the Knote hatches. You will know when your Knote hatches by looking your name up on the waiting list, below.

Knotes start out as eggs, and hatch into babies, which grow up into adults. Knotes serve as "pet" like creatures for your Lyrix to associate with, and they have personalities that can be manipulated by you, as the owner. Not only do Knotes try to mimic the colour patterns of their Lyrix (if they are dependent), but they also would help to develop your Lyrix, to teach it to be a responsible person- and may even aid in allowing your Lyrix to reproduce more than 2 offspring! As you can see, Knotes are a very beneficial friend for a Lyrix to have...

Flatsale on Friday: I'm tentatively saying that the first Gen 2 flatsale will be on Friday ^^; There will be 2 Lyrix available. I'm then going to hold an event raffle, immediately after the flatsale, for a pre-made Lyrix. The flatsale is going to be run a little different, this time around! But I'll keep you posted on the change in rules, when it's closer to Friday.

Keeping a Journal: There aren't any specific rules for how to keep a Lyrix journal, and unlike a lot of other pets, you don't HAVE to keep a journal. I have zero time anymore, so I'd hate it if I lost one of my pets simply because I couldn't put aside X minutes a day to update my pet's journal. So don't worry. If you don't want to make a journal, I understand 100%

Suggestions for what to put in your journal: I have a short list of stuff that you can put in your journal. Feel free to stray from my suggestions!
