You stand along the coastline, staring out at the horizon. The sky had dark gray-blue clouds heading your way, with flashes of bright lightning emitting from the stormclouds every couple seconds. With nowhere to hide, you remain standing there. Out of nowhere, a wooshing sound comes from the ocean waters. You look towards the source of the noise, and you see a pod of killer whales swimming in the direction of the storm. Puzzled, you jump into your makeshift wooden raft, and paddle with a paddle-shaped stump to follow them.

The ocean waves came overtop your raft, and right away you are thrown into the freezing water. You are unable to reach the surface again, because the ocean's sheer power mixed with the coming storm was pulling you down into the deep. Then, you hear weird sounds underneath you, and so you look down. There you see the orcas once more. They swim up towards you, and you feel compelled to grab one's dorsal fin. It swims down into the dark abyss, and you suddenly feel a bit warmer. Closing your eyes, you embrace the warmth. Suddenly, you feel dry, and you open your eyes. You are now at the bottom of a valley, with a clear sunny sky, and warm summer air.

You sit up, and realize you are laying on grass. Looking behind yourself, you see a large cove sheltered by tall cliffs. In the cove, the orcas are there... doing their breaching, spyhopping, tailslapping, and lobtailing happily. Where shall you go from here?

What are these pets called?
.....Orcinus orca (scientific name), orca (preferred name), killer whale (common name), wolves of the sea (because they hunt like wolves).

How do I get one?
.....Flatsale, raffle, auction, event, bribe, or custom.

How much does a flatsale orca cost?
.....2k.

How long do they take to grow?
.....Depends on how busy the colourists are. See the STAGES post to find out.

Are these breedable?
.....In time, yes.

How many babies can they have?
.....2-3 calves. Maybe more if one is lucky enough.

Would I be allowed to sell/give away the calves?
.....You can give your orca's calves to owners for free, or you can have the breeder auction them off. When the auction ends, you receive 50% of the profits. The other half is given to the breeder.

Are orcas RP required?
.....No. But if you want your orca to get a mate, have more kids, and maybe even become an elder, you should roleplay.

Can I be a guest colourist?
.....Keep an eye on the thread to see if there's an opening available.

What is this talk about familiars?
.....They're still in the works. Be patient. xP

Long ago, on the west coast of North America, there was an abundance of killer whales. The Native Americans respected the orcas, and so both human and killer whale co-existed together for many years. Then, outsiders came from the far east, taking away resources for the orcas. The foreign humans then began killing some of the killer whales. This was not a good thing for the orcas.

.....Then, came the years where killer whales were capable in living in aquariums. Orcas from the west coast were rounded up, and sent to marine parks all over North America. Eventually the humans stopped capturing them... but they still pollute the ocean. With little choice left, some orcas managed to swim far down, to reach their sanctuary.

.....This sanctuary is where the orcas now reside, with no way to get back to the real world. Here, the killer whales can live in peace, with access to plenty of food, and are able to swim in clean waters.

.:Flatsales:.
+ Flatsales work as first come first serve (this will be most common), or RP prompt for those who have slower computers.
+ Flatsales begin when the shop mule says GO! in big, bold lime green letters (simply to stand out).
+ When the flatsale begins for first come first serve type flatsales, say "I would like an orca!" in size 15 bold font.
+ For when an RP prompt flatsale begins, post the prompt in the thread.
+ DO NOT EDIT YOUR POSTS FOR WHEN POSTING FOR AN ORCA, OR AN RP PROMPT. (Even if there's a spelling error.) You can simply quote your post, to fix the error.

Next Flatsale: TBA

.:Dorsal Fin:.
This is the fin on top of the orca. For adult males, it can reach up to six feet in height. Adult females's dorsals usually reach about two feet.

.:Pectoral Fins:.
These are the flippers on the left and right sides of the orca. They are noticeably large on adult males.

.:Fluke:.
The tail end. Male's flukes tend to be bigger.

.:Eye Patch:.
That's the sideways white oval-shaped blob you see hovering over an orca's eye on either side. Natives say that the orca's eye patch were of the first to see the stars.

.:Saddle Patch:.
Looks like the gray version of a saddle. It is located behind the dorsal fin.
