Introduction

It's a fine time to visit Egypt. The Pharaoh is once again in fine health, raiders have seemed to disappear, and the Festival of Re is going to be the best one yet. Everyone is in fine spirits and nearly dancing in the streets. Nothing has gone wrong yet, yet being the key word.

Outside of the city, a stranger watches the people celebrate. Hiden under a dark cloak, gleaming gold eyes watch with only a half-hearted intrest. She knows something about the future, something terrible and earth-shattering.

What the future holds is up to you, visitor. Follow Smau as she enters and exits your journies, either helping you or leading you to be jackal bait. Walk with Shefet and learn how to attack an enemy without making a sound. Stay in the temple and learn how to write the scriptures with Shetat and become a priest or priestess. Pick your path wisely, for it may lead to your success, or your death.
Rules

Ah, we all love them. Please read them.

1. PM the profiles please. It takes up less space here and I can get to them a bit faster.

2. Don't be rude. No blatantly insulting other people when there's no need to. If your character is mean, don't make them just start cussing random people out. People still have feelings, respect them.

3. No cybering. It's gross and kinda stupid to me. Kissing is okay, and Egypt was known for it's "wild side", but we don't have to repeat history.

4. Be literate. Don't use 1337 or txt tlk. Speak in sentances and try to keep misspellings to a minimum. There is always the edit button by your post, feel free to use it.

5. Don't make your character perfect. People in Egypt were tanned, so make them tan unless they came from somewhere like Greece. But if they are, be realistic. Foreigners were often either traders, foreign armies, or captured as slaves.

6. Don't be unrealistic. Don't say your character was from the future. They can be foreigners, but don't say America or Japan. It didn't happen then, it won't happen here.

7. Don't stretch the page. It gets extremely annoying.

8. If you must leave and you know you will, say you will in {}s, []s, or ()s. It lets us know you, not the character, is talking.

9. Please don't bump. I will bump as needed, or ask someone to bump. And don't say I asked you when I didn't, I'll write it down and stick it on the computer. If it's not you, you'll be on the Black List.

10. That's about it. I won't make you put any tricks in here, just the basic rules for RPs. Be nice, have fun, and be kind to others. Remember, this is set in Ancient Egypt, after Akhenaten messed up the religion and Tutankhamen fixed it. Everything's back to normal and both Egypts are united. Beyond the basic things most beginer Egyptologists would know, the plot is fictional.

11. Don't insult anyone for twisting history a bit. This is an idea I got from listening the the music from Prince of Egypt far too much, but I've studied Egypt for a long time and know a bit of the basics. I'll be polite about correcting anyone's minor mistakes, but even I make mistakes. Just be nice and point it out and I'll see if I can fix it.

12. If you do not post for 10 days straight, I will blacklist you. By ten days, I will have given warnings. If ignored, I'll blacklist you after the ten day waiting period. Your character shall be removed from the character sheet and it will be like nothing happened at all.

Gaia Name: Kem Pet Unsu
Character Name: Smau (Darkness)
Gender: Female
Age: 18.
Nationality: Egyptian.
Standing in Society/Occupation: Between rich and poor. Wanderer, fortune teller, mercinary, and occasionally a theif.
Looks: User Image
Biography: Smau was abandonded when she was a child by her drunk father. Her mother left the abusive relationship and ran off into the desert when Smau was only a few months old, and her father soon decided to leave her baby in the desert for the mother to find. Smau wasn't found by her mother, but was found by a caravan of wanderers. They taught her how to tame and ride horses, travel by the sun's direction alone, and how to read basic heiroglyphs. One also told her ways to read fortunes and give predictions based on how sand fell from her hand or how bones burned in a fire. Smau often practiced these until the fortune teller was sure she knew how to do it.

When she was fifteen, she stole one of their horses and ran away, thinking she'd find a city where she could make a living, but on the second night of travel she was captured by thieves. In a way to keep herself safe, she said she'd work for the thieves as another theif, if they'd teach her their tricks. They agreed to it and taught her how to pickpocket, raid a tomb, and con people. With her fortune tellings she provided distractions for travelers as the thieves stole from right behind the traveler's back.

Finally, Smau was sick of being a raider and, taking another fast horse and a sword, she ran away at the age of seventeen. Her friend, Shefet, followed her when he found out she ran and she couldn't get rid of him since. She and Shefet wander Egypt, occasionally conning people but mostly just doing dayjobs for a living.
Anything else: Fortune telling. Owns a sword which she carries at her side much of the time. Fights gracefully and attacks with strength that seems impossible for someone her age.

Gaia Name: Kem Pet Unsu
Character Name: Shetat (Mysteries)
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Nationality: Egyptian?
Standing in Society/Occupation: Fairly well-off. Priestess.
Looks: User Image
Biography: Shetat was found outside the temple of Re when she was a baby. They said she was a gift from the gods, but when she was five she was a hell-raiser. She would take khol and draw on the temple walls, sending all the priests into fits of anger and nearly making one beat her. It wasn't until a priest found a hurt jackal that she calmed down. The priest, seeing how saw Shetat was, gave her the jackal to heal and tend to. She quickly brought it back to health and named it Anubis, and it lived for ten long years. But, eventually, it grew old, sick, and died. Anubis, being a temple pet and named after the god of mumifacation, was mummified.

Shetat was heartbroken when Anubis died, but work forced her back into her duties and she soon nursed her own heart into health again. But, since Anubis died, she had been quieter. She became more withdrawn and did as she was told without argument. She still sometimes feels a bit sad, but often she seems emotionless or just shy. She was given the chance to leave the temple, but quietly refused, claiming she liked the light work she did there and the care the temple gave her.

With the Festival of Re drawing close, Shetat is bussier than ever. Copying texts and cleaning the temple has switched to praying, leading offerings, and other preperations for the festival.

I'm sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Smau and Shefet rode up to outside the city, watching the lights from inside sparkle and twinkle as the people got ready for the celebrations. Smau let out a long sigh and closed her eyes.

"I pity them." She said quietly. "Blind fools, the lot of them."

"Then why do you stand here?" Shefet asked. "If you feel that bad, go help them."

Smau laughed. "Nice idea, but I don't mess with Fate. Leave it to the gods to decide what happens to them."

Shefet rolled his eyes. "Fine, fine. Whatever you say. So, do we stay here for a while, or move on?"

Smau smirked. "Let's stay. I kind of want to watch them suffer."

"Such a cold heart." Shefet teased. "I'm amazed you haven't frozen yet."

Smau growled and kicked her horse into a gallop. "Only because you have such a hot head!"
Shetat went back to her work preparing the food and holy beer for the festival. Already many farmers brought their cattle, sheep, livestock, and crops as offerings either to the temple or Re. Some of the animals were to be sacrificed, some to be kept to give the temple their daily needs. The task fell on Shetat to sort out the offerings from the sacrifices.

With a scoll in her hand, she read the descriptions for what animals were worthy to be given to Re, but they were so vague she frowned and rolled up the scroll with an aggitated sigh.

'Am I the only one here who can do this?' She asked herself as she lookced over a cow. 'Surely there's another minor priest who could have helped.'

But, there wasn't. They were all off doing their own tasks. Shetat was the only one available for this job.

'Maybe I should have left.' Shetat wondered. 'No, that would be silly. I have a home here.'

She looked over the animals and sighed. "Okay, maybe a farm here."

Joseph was at the back of the line of slaves being brought in. He stared straight ahead. The slaver stopped them in front of the temple.
The slaver ran over to Shetat. He was young and sent here in his masters place, "Excuse me priestess, This is my first time here where are the slaves to be sold?"
Joseph stared up at the priestess and then at the city around them. Nice place. Wish I could have come here under different circumstances. He stood straight and tall. As far as he was concerned this was the gods way of punishing him for something he did. He would take it in stride.
Shetat sighed quietly and shook her head. "I'm sorry sir, but the temple does not allow slaves. Although..."

She looked over her shoulder and heard the livestock in the courtyard suddenly speak up.

"I could use an assistant. With the festival coming I desperatly need help sorting this from that, writing letters, and so on. Do you have one you can spare? I'll pay for his freedom, someone good and strong. I never know what I need here."
Amisi was looking out one of the windows of the temple as she saw Shetat she sighed to herself. She looked around as she felt something bump her leg. She looked down and smiled at her dog slightly. She patted his head as she left the room to walk down toward the entrance of the temple to see what Shetat was doing.

The slaver grabbed Joseph and unhooked him from the line of slaves. His master would be happy to get rid of this one. "Here you go. He can do about anything you ask of him." Best not tell her he killed his old master.
Joseph looked at the priestess. He seemed to be sizing her up. She seems nice enough. His face remained blank though. He suffered too long to know if he wanted to get away from the slavers that showing emotion was the first thing to get you whipped.
Shetat nodded and reached for a small purse tied around her waist. She took out several gold and silver coins before holding them out for the slave owner.

"He should do nicely." She said with a soft smile. She then turned to the slave and nodded at him. "Tell me young man, what is your name?"
Amisi was gracefully as she walked toward the entrance of the temple. People bowed down to the teenage princess. "Shetat, what is going on?" She asked softly looking at the Priestess then at the slave. Her face was a bit confused.
