Update Sept, 29 2008 - With the addition of the Okiru-inu and Yami-inu poses of the Yama no Tamago, I can confidently say Gaians now have some beautifully drawn wolves for use on their avatars. While they may not follow the original design of the spirit wolf, I myself am quite satisfied with them, and thus I am bringing this petition to a close. Let me extend a big thanks to Drinky Tengu for her work on this awesome item, That being said, I officaly declare this petition to be closed! Thank you Gaia, and goodnight!
UPDATE 6/25/2007: Come tomorrow, I will be leaving on vacation to Texas for two weeks. It's likely that I won't be able to update the signature list during this time, so I'm relying on you, the users to keep this petition alive until I get back!
UPDATE 8/1/2007: Yes, I am back. I have been for a while, actually. Unfortunately, I'm lazy and don't feel like going through the extremely daunting process of writing down usernames and updating the signature list. (It takes hours, believe me. Especially when you've been gone this long.) In other news, I've had people inform me that the concept art for some of my images exceedes the pixel limit for our avys. I don't see why this is a problem. The art is just there to give the devs an idea of what we want. xP I by no means expect the spirit wolf to look exactly like all the art posted here, and I'm sure the mods behind the development of MCs can tweak the design to fit our avy's.
UPDATE 8/19/2007: I am now so hopelessly behind in updating the sig list that I doubt I'll ever be able to catch up. When I started this petition, I had no idea that this idea would be so popular. Over the course of 5 monthes, we've collected well over 1500 signatures! Due to this fact, I've decided that I will NO LONGER be adding names to the signature list. I simply don't have the time or energy to update it any longer. However, this petition is far from dead. As long as people continue to post to show their support, I'm willing to continue taking concept art and banners to post here. For more info, please refer to Page 176 of the thread for my announcement post. Thanks for everyone's support thus far, and hopefully one day the idea of the Spirit Wolf will become a reality.

Update 9/18/2007 - For the last time people, STOP PMING ME ASKING ME FOR AVY EDITS! I've said it several times on this thread already, and I'll say it once more. I did not do any of the avy edits posted on this petition. All of this art posted here was done by people who support my petition are were kind enough to donate their time and effort into making banners/avy edits for it. xP Likewise, I have no talent with pixel art, or any other forms of art for that matter, so asking me for edits is a complete waste of your and my time.
Update 11/15/2007 - With the addition of Fenrir in the Wild Things monthly collectible, Gaia finally has given us a real wolf for our avatars. However, I must say I'm a bit dissapointed with it. Only two poses, and it's slightly bulky, covering up most of our avys. Come on Gaia. As such I will not be closing this petition just yet. I'm sure many Gaians will agree with me when I say we want a smaller wolf item with multiple poses, similar to the spirit falcon.
Well, we’ve already got one type of familiar for our avatars with March 2007's donation item in the form of the Spirit Falcon (which, despite a few drawbacks, is fairly cool in my opinion) so I figured why not give our avies a few more animal-type pets/familiars to choose from that aren’t plushies? My main idea would be for the admins to make a ‘Spirit Wolf’ to go along with the falcon. In some poses it could look like your average everyday wolf and in others it could have a more ‘mystical’ look with tongues of flame jumping from its fur. For those of you who are familiar with the series Tsubasa Chronicles, I was thinking it could look a bit like Syaoran’s Kudan from the arc where he visits the Hanshin Republic. Here’s a picture of what I’m talking about so you can get a general idea:

Those who they do deem worthy of their power, however, are granted with a loyal companion and lifelong friend. (Meh…not the best thing I’ve ever written. A Necklace/Collar with a fang on it similar to the Spirt Falcon's glove pose? The fang could be set with a red stone that could glow in a fashion similar to the Demonic Pendant.

It's one of those that are actually original in my opinion,
I'm loving the idea to full blast, hence wolves ... Spirit Wolves are just what some Gaians need.
They look wicked and would match with almost anything.
Also, I'd make a black and white or dark purple and black one, hence many people would like others colours, or so it seems.
Other than that, superb work and keep it up.
I therefore SIGN and hope that your idea shall be accepted by GaiaOnline, I'd buy those wolves oh so much. <3

If you want the Shaolan's Kudan (Fire Wolf - make a protection), it would be nice to have the others :
Kurogane : Water Dragon (can be transform into a sword)
Fye : Air Eagle (Fye-san is able to fly with it)
And maybe these others too :
Primera : A Microphone
Shogo : Water Ray
Masayoshi : A Little Human
??? : Explosive Crab
A nice idea here, and with the release of the Tsubasa quest, I could defintely see some of these items being made. But for now, this petition is going to stick to getting the wolf in particular. Afterwards, though, who knows? ^^

I agree with this persons signature, I would like one to be all greyish and ghost like, or perhaps black and demonic looking.
A elemental wolf donation item would be awesome, based on what those other two looked like for marchs letters you know different styles :] it leaves more options opened and it matchs multiple avatars better without looking over-hashed.

I'll sign!! I LOVE wolves! I have a few suggestions too.
Maybe a item like 'dog food' can be attached to the wolf to make it have fire. That would mean that the positions of the normal wolf would be the same with the fire, so everyone would be happy.
I think a blue colour for the wolf would be cool, maybe a light and furry bit of special effects could be done?
I also think that a moon could be added to a top corner of the avatar, with the wolf howling at it. Or maybe the actual avatar could be that wolf.
I think the element of wind could also be added. Like the wind moving agansit the wolf's fur?

This sounds like a good idea. I'd love wolves on gaia, but perhaps the wolf behind the avi should be smaller, like a normal wolf's size compared to that of a humans. And maybe a collor with a stone on it, like the falconry glove?

Even without the refference to Tsubasa as the wolf being a spoof of something from the show, all I can say is DAMN. I think it would be pretty cool for a collection of possible spirit creatures to use. Sign me up on this one. Though I do have a few suggestions.
With your "Wolf cub peeing on leg" pose, you could make it so when equipted, your avatar has a sweat drop of annoyance appear. Also, to tie in each spirit animal as to being something summoned, it would be a good idea to come up with a vessal for the creature (like the falcoln's gauntalet pose). Possibly another glove, or a necklace might be a good vessal for containing the escence of the Spirit Wolf.

For example,
Perhaps there shoud be a pose in which the owner of this item can ride the wolf itself.
Or, similar to the spirit falcon, only an element, such as the horn, eyes, paws, etc are shown. Just like with the spirit falcon, their was was a pose option to have the falcon on one's back, resulting in the owner looking as if they had wings.
It is a fantastic idea, thoguh, and maybe with a few more developed and satisfactory poses, this idea can come to a reality.
