Welcome to Caramel's merfolk auction, with art by our very own Caramelmarshmellow. If you aren't familiar with PIRATES or the race involved, please click here. Merfolk are very rare, of our 80 pirates only two of them are merfolk.

From The Tome of Ancient Races:

Merfolk

History
The Merfolk, are said to be humans with the ability to live underwater, and communicate with marine animals. They have been said to have the power to summon storms, a rumour that has cost many merfolk their lives. They are more numerous than other non-humans, but hide their appearance to avoid discrimination, or even the chance of execution.

Common Appearance
Merfolk were known to look like normal humans. Contrary to popular tales of brightly coloured hair, they are often pale in skin, eye and hair due to living in the deep ocean where little light is available. Merfolk have webbed fingers and toes, along with gills on their neck to give them the ability to live underwater.

Special Abilities
Merfolk are able to Live underwater, they are able to swim much better than a common human, and they are much more in-tune with the weather. They may be able to communicate with sea life.

Merfolk are known for their songs, most of them cause their enemies to go into a trance, therefore Merfolk Battle Rolls are multiplied by 1.25!

Pirate Avatar Cosplay Contest!

Now for the cool part of the auction: mini contests! The aim of this contest is to produce the most accurate and creative avatar based on one of our pirates. The winner will get five doubloons and 5k gold. There may be other prizes for really special entries.

There is now a catergory for cosplays based on QUEST PIRATES.

Hair:
His light brown hair goes up to his shoulders, and it cut in a 'V' shape if you see it from the back. This means it's longer at the middle and shorter at both side. His bangs are generally long enough to cover his eyes, and are parted at roughly the center.

However, his bangs are 'raised' due to his wide-brim brown hat. It has a dull yellow feather on it coming out of the right, and a ring hanging down from a tread from the left.

Eyes:
Light brown eyes.

His eyes always seem to be staring at something far away, especially when he's alone. Like he's thinking about something.

General outfit:
I just realised my old way of drawing is... xD;;

His weapon is a Caliver, and he caries it around with him wherever he goes. It was a kind of family heirloom, although Kelson isn't speaking about its history. It is vital that its presence be shown.

He wears a brown trench coat that is buttoned until the waist. A sort of breastplate protects him from the recoil of his caliver is hidden under his coat. A pair of long dark brown pants and a plain dirty yellow shirt completes his normal attire. His shoes are a darker shade of brown as well. Unlike most pirates, Kelson don't like vibrant colors, but he can stand to wear jewellery.

Accessories:
He has several piercings on his right ear, but only one on his left ear (Look at picture). He wears a necklace with a strange symbol as the pendent.

A metal breastplate 'wrapped' with brown cloth under his coat, to protect himself from the recoil of the caliver. However, it does make his chest look slightly 'rigid'.

Crew position:
Gunner (His experience with loading and unloading quickly will come in handy with a canon.)

Character Description:
Kelson is a quiet man who do not like to speak much, and cannot hold his alcohol too well. He will usually decline the offer for alcohol and the like. He only became a pirate because he had no other choice to earn a living. Nobody wanted to hire an elf to work for them, and Kelson don't blame them.

He can be considered an average man. He is not too hardworking, but nor is he lazy. He tend not to stand out in the crowd, but he do not make huge blunders either. If he left the crew, the others might remain oblivious until someone made it a 'public annoucement'.

He do not hanker after women, money, nor fame. All he wants is to earn enough to suppot himself until he can leave the ship to survive on his own. Maybe find a good wife and settle down once and for all, instead of sailing the seven seas.

He is very particular about loyalty, and is a good friend if you can manage to catch his interest and talk to him. He do not like flirting too much either, so it can safely be said that he would make a good and faithful life partner.

Journal Presentation Contest

Okay, this one is pretty straight forward; who has the prettiest journal. Don't be discouraged if your pirate's logs are currently bare, you have a week to shiny it up.
