_______There was once a kingdom of an intellegent race, similar to our own fairies of old, that lived in hills and mountains in grand cities called the Avaritia Curo. Un-like our fairies, they did not have humanity to contend with, and lived inside of mountains and hills for the fact they were the best protection. The forests, deserts, grasslands, and seas surrounding them were filled with creatures that frightened or were dangerous to them. Only lowly hunters trecked out to catch food or collect oddities for the rich to purchase. They were generally a fearful and pompous race, pre-occupied with accumulating material wealth and rising in ranks to 'royalty', which was baisicly anyone who had enough material wealth to own enough land and people to have their own defending army and lavish living quarters.
_______Because of their 'get rich quick' and back stabbing nature, killing someone higher up then themselves to either aquir their position or knock off compitition was common, but they loathed physical tasks. They commonly left messy and physical tasks to thier lowers, and hacking or stabbing someone was a very messy, disgusting and physicle task. And so the most common way of killing was by poison.
_______Now, one of the many creatures that scattered about the wilds was the Vicus, a small furred, six legged, two tailed, head winged animal, which travelled and lived in prides and had temperment similar to our wolves or lion prides. They had dark coloured fur with darker tips of various colours depending on their environment, and were commonly hunted for their pelts. The Vicus had a special ability though that a very clever Avaritian saw a very prosperous get rish plan in. The Vicus, because of their wandering nature, would commonly come acorss plants or food they had never eaten before. The Vicus would eat a small bit of the plant and wait a few moments. If the plant or food was poisonous the tips of their fur would turned pitch black, signalling to itself and it's packmates not to eat that plant. The Avaritian had one of her hunters catch a few of these creatures and tested them in her castle for many months. SHe discovered that poisons, from minor to fatal, caused a reaction inside of the animals body that turned it's fur black, and the animals digestive system could take a small amount of poison without any damage.
_______After many years, a very long time for most royal Avaritians to spend on anything, the particular Avaritian breed the captured Vicus she had, and ones she aquired, for particular traits. She breed them to have softer coats, smaller wings so they couldn't fly away, lighter and more varied colours, a stronger gut for more poison then previously standable, and an easy going, house pet context. Strangly, when their wings became smaller and disconnected from their heads, one of their tails disspaiered, so one way to tell if the creature is a Venefi, a Vicus, or a cross between the two is if it has two tails or one. Thus, she created the Venefi's, the white based, lighter coloured, one tailed, bouyant and happy poison eater to test the food and drink of the rich to prevent them from being poisoned.
_______The Venefi's were a hit, the Avaritian that breed them becoming dirty rich and her generations of family after her. And so now, because of their wonderful temperment, a cross between a lap cat and a faithful dog, and their usefull ability of sensing poisons in eaten food, there were several Venefi in every royal or hopeful royals household. The Vicus, the Venifi's predesessor, were nearly hunted into oblivion for the Avaritian's greed for their pelts and their genes to vary the Venefi gene pool, and are now reduced to small packs few and far between, warry of any other sentient creature.
_______Sadly, because of their greed and war mongering, the race destroyed itself in bloody war, and nothing is left of their legacy but their many plush castels still lavishly decorated and under 'tidy' and 'refresh' charms, and the Venefi, slowly dieing out from lonelyness. Nothing but the Venefi were left living in the castles for about a hundred years, their numbers droping every year because the absense of love from long dead owners, whose care allowed the mto develop to mature breeding adults. Now a portal to this world has ben found by a band of adventurous Gaian's, one of which just so happens to be me. And so this shop is here, trying to find owners for the deiing Venefi race to bring them back to prosper in life.
