Welcome to Gaia! ::

The handwriting in this entry is sloppy, a large difference from the usually perfect penmanship of the empress Kaioto, as though written in a great hurry.

Kaioto
Diary,

You won't believe what's happening! I just got a message from the GMFC - Jiora's in labor! I have to get over there right away, there's no way I'm going to miss this!

- Kaioto
Kaioto
Dearest Diary,

I am finding myself with less and less time to write to you. Between my ever-growing belly and my increasing palace duties, I'm left with hardly any time to just relax. But I do have some good news! Sayuri had her baby! A beautiful little girl named Rhiannon. She and Cyrus (Jiora's new son) are so beautiful, it makes me really long for the birth of my children. I'm so close to the end, but it seems so far away. My cravings seem to be growing with my stomach, and I'm eating more than I ever had in my life. But it's so much fun, it really is. I just want to finally hold them in my arms. I haven't decided on names yet, but I'm sure when I see them, I'll know.

The writing in this entry is slow and carefully done. Several tears have fallen on the paper, leaving rippled splotches.

Kaioto
Dearest Diary,

I've just been informed I must leave for two weeks. There is unrest in a neighboring empire, and I must go as part of a peace operation. I leave in 39 hours. Everything about me, from my clothes to my possessions to my way of speech could have an effect on how people view my empire, so I must be very cautious to follow their customs very strictly. Thus, Diary, it is with great regret that I must inform you that I cannot bring you. Even in my private chambers, they might see me writing in you and take it as an insult. I truly am sorry. What I am worried about most, though, it my children. I am so near the end, it would be terrible to go into labor there. If I did, there is no way I would ever make it back to the GMFC in time. With any luck, however, I'll come back from the trip with just eneough time to spare. We can only hope... But I must leave you now, Diary, for the final time for the next two weeks. I have a lot of careful packing to do. Until two weeks from now...

Eirnae and Firi are on a day long quest of delivering gifts for other GMFC mothers and their children, as well as a couple of fa'e homes, so they opt to fly to Empress Kaioto's castle on their way to an even harder to reach location.

"I didn't realize there was such a thing as empresses on Gaia," Eirnae puzzles in elven to her loyal pegasus, the moon elf leaning forward to rest the front of her body against Firi's back and neck, between the equine's wings, "Makes me wonder what she is the empress of."

Firi whinnies at Eirnae's words, not understanding all of it even if her mistress is speaking in the language that Firi was trained in.

"Ah...well now, that must be it," Eirnae says before she straightens in the saddle. "Time to swoop in, Firi!" she cries against the wind, the pegasus tossing her head in agreement before they begin their descent.

The winged horse and her rider do not attempt a landing, as they are indeed in far too much of a hurry. Instead, Eirnae takes a wand from within her jacket and gives it a flick as they pass over the palace's main entrance, resulting in the spell locked within the wand to be activated and make two soft teddy bears in reed baskets appear out of thin air with a small 'pop!'. Eirnae and Firi then continue on their way to their next stop.

Each bear is wrapped in a layer of clear plastic to keep them safe from outside influence till they are found. Should either be touched by Kaioto herself both will sing cheerily together while attempting floppy bows, "Greetings, dear Empress, we wish you the best! We have been sent for your happiness! Two little children, we're sure you'll agree, deserve cheerful toys..." Then the lavendar bear will sing alone in a distinctly female voice, "Like him and me!" The blue bear will then sing, "The Slytherin-Natenhar family sends their love, may you and yours be watched from above!" If one of the bears is touched by either of the twins they will do a new number, breaking into a little dance as they sing, "Good little children, we're delighted to meet. We look forward to play times together, so sweet!"

(( It is entirely up to you if the bears remain animated or not. They can be regular toys upon delivering their messages once, or they can stay as walking, talking friends for the twins. smile ))
Raynakre is being punished, so he grumbles quite a lot as he comes to drop off a package from his sister. He leaves it at the door with a servant.

Note from Sunny
Congratulations! Twins! Holy smack! At any rate, I picked up a few presents for the new arrivals.

And, as I think any parent with twins needs, I wish you good luck.

A strange birdlike creature swoops down to the doorway, two neatly wrapped boxes in his claws. He informs a rather surprised servant, "Presents for the hatchlings," and takes off again, leaving the boxes.

Inside are two odd plushies:

The note tucked under the bow on one package reads:
"Your Highness,

While we know each other only in passing, I want to congratulate you on the arrival of your beautiful children.
The plushies are lightly enchanted to help the children sleep soundly and well.

The babies are several days old now, and Kaioto is back in the palace, surrounded by an excited staff and and even more excited empire. It seems that the babies have not left her arms more than necessary to change their diapers, and Kaioto is content to keep it that way.

However, the naming ceremony is approaching fast, and Kaioto knows she must prepare for it. So for the first time since the twins came home, she enters the nursery which had been prepared for them earlier. Previously, it had been a storage closet (Albeit a large one) that branched off of Kaioto's personal bathroom. She had decided it would be the perfect place for the babies' nursery because the only way to get to it was through Kaioto's own bedroom, so they would be safe all the time, and the hot water pipes would warm the room to just the right temperature for the twins. Though the walls were made of stone like the majority of the rooms in the palace, the heat kept in well, and just in case, Kaioto had hung a tapestry near the window. The same one, in fact, that had been given to her by Dot several months earlier. That window, actually, had been one of the major reasons Kaioto had finally decided on the room as the nursery. Made out of fine stained glass, one side featured intricate sun and clous patterns while the opposite side featured just as intricate a moon and stars pattern. 'How perfect!' she had thought. 'What better room for my two little opposites than a room of opposites?' In keeping with her new theme, she had taken one of her favorite rugs out of storage - A circular one that was woven into the shape of a sun being encircled partway by a crescent moon - and layed it on the wooden floor of the nursery. She had gotten it from a visiting merchant a few years back but had never found the right place for it before this. Also in the room, she put a changing table, diaper pail, clothes dresser, table, chair, and lastly, two wicker bassinets for the twins to sleep in. On the girl's, the one with the pink ribbon on the end, she put a blanket with a moon and stars design woven into it, and on the boy's, the one with the blue ribbon on the end, she put a blanket woven with a sun and clouds design.

Now looking at the twins she holds in her arms, it seems that her gut instinct, while she had really given no thought to when laying out the nursery, was right - The boy's eyes seem to sparkle with the light of the sun, while the girl seems as peaceful as the moon.

Reluctantly, she places each child in their repective cradles, and with a kiss on their foreheads, she puts a baby monitor on the table next to them. Though they cannot be with her 24/7, she now wears the recieving end of the baby monitor on her kimono so as to always know what is happening with the babies.

For the moment, there is peace in the room. A VERY brief moment.
As though in complete sync with each other, both babies start to cry. Kaioto is startled by this. They've been so tranquil since they came home, what's wrong? Perhaps they miss their mother already? She picks both of them up, cradling them in her arms, and immiediatly they stop crying. She rocks them gently until they fall asleep, and then once more places them in their bassinets.

And enjoys a second of silence before both once more wake up and start wailing.

"What's wrong?!" she questions, exasperated. Several times this process repeats, and Kaioto becomes very tired as the night goes on. After yet another fruitless try to get them to stay in their bassinets, Kaioto herself falls asleep on the stool, her head resting on the boy's bassinet as he and his sister continue to cry on through the night.
Shina tries to concentrate on where she is going, pleased to do this delivery for her mother. Of course the fact that the angelic fa'e's presence calms the Ninphe that she is guiding to Empress Kaioto's palace is one of the main reasons that Eirnae asked her daughter to do this for her, but Shina takes such in stride.

"You need not worry, Therlia," Shina calls over the wind in her silvery voice, "Mother says that this empress is very kind. I'm sure that she will appreciate your companionship for her and her new twins."

<center><img src="http://img14.photobucket.com/albums/v41/Eirnae/GMFC/Gifts%20for%20Others/Therlia-forKaioto.jpg"></center>

Therlia smiles in response, but it is obvious that the Ninphe is still very nervous. The winged female looks much like an angel herself at first glance, though her wings are smaller than Shina's and do not share the exact colors, with Therlia's being mostly white and Shina's like those of a snow owl. However, upon closer inspection it becomes obvious that Therlia has no ears other than the small feathery appendages resembling tiny wings to either side of her head. She even has what could be taken for the lower 'lobe' pierced, a silver stud with a matching star suspended from it her only adornment other than her glinting weave of a headress.

Shina is not embarassed by Therlia's lack of clothing, as she herself understands the freedom such a state provides. She had mentioned clothes to the Ninphe before they left the cottage for the sake of the household Therlia hopes to become a part of, but her traveling partner had refused with a shy shaking of her head. 'Mother said that she found her by Damien this morning,' Shina muses as they continue their flight, 'She was cradling him, rocking him back and forth.' Shina is glad that her mother had a cool enough head at the time to ask Therlia her name and how she got there instead of... other things.

Therlia speeds up suddenly, Shina getting a glimpse of the excitement on the Ninphe's face before she cannot see more than Therlia's bare legs whirring past. Oddly enough, only then does the Ninphe's burst of happiness at something touch Shina's usually sensitive empathy. "Therlia?!" Shina calls turning her head to focus on the direction the Ninphe had zoomed in, her own face blooming a smile as she realizes that Therlia had seen the castle before her and was heading straight for it, no doubt her head full of the promise of two babies to help care for. "Good luck, Gentle One," Shina murmurs, knowing that Therlia cannot actually hear her. She keeps going with the wind, preparing to turn around and head back home now that her delivery was complete. 'I only hope that this Empress Kaioto treats her well,' Shina solemnly thinks to herself.

(( I ordered Therlia a while ago, before I found the bears, but I still feel she will be a great help with the twins. I'm not fully sure what her race really is, other than being called Ninphe, so I'm guessing 'winged humanoids'. I know, generalistic, no? sweatdrop

Eirnae sent her to Kaioto as she remembers seeing a picture of the winged woman who recently had twins, and decided that who better for Therlia to volunteer her services for when Eirnae has no idea where more of Therlia's kind can be found. From what Eirnae has seen, Therlia is kind, gentle, loving, and is very fond of young beings. She's also rather shy, but that is likely due to her kind being very rare, possibly hunted down to near extinction.

Am I capable of a non-rped gifting of something? Dear Lord, I hope not! blaugh ))
Several hours later, Kaioto awakes in the nursery to silence. As the haze of sleep begins to clear, her relief at the quiet fades away as she notices a very pretty and very naked winged woman standing over one of the bassinets.

"Agh!" she screams at the stranger. "Who are you?! Where are my babies?!"

The woman stumbles back as she is taken aghast by Kaioto's yell, but manages to regain her balance and get out a "Called Therlia. Babies right here." as she points down into the moon-blanketed cradle. There, sound asleep lay both children happily curled up next to each other. "No yell, sleeping."

Kaioto is now very confused. It seems that this woman doesn't want to harm the babies... so then why is she here?

"H-how did you get it here? Who sent you?" Kaioto questions, her heart still hammering against her chest from suprise.

"Shina." is all Therlia says in response.

'Shina... the fa'e?!' Kaioto thinks. She only knew of one Shina. "Did Eirnae send you?" she questions out loud.

Therlia nods, but says no more. Though still a little wary, if she was sent by Eirnae, she can't be bad.

"A-alright." she stammers out while thinking 'Ok, so she's a friend of Shina's. I'll have to talk to her later and find out what's going on. In the meantime...' "Thank you for putting the twins to sleep. How'd you do it?"

"Twins like being together." she says simply.

'Well that makes sense... why didn't I think of that?' Kaioto thinks to herself. "You like babies?" she says.

Therlia nods and smiles.

'Good enough. She doesn't seem dangerous, and I sure could use her help...' "Ok Therlia, you can stay if you like." she says to her. "But you will have to put some clothes on if you want to leave the nursery and my chambers."

Therlia doesn't seem to happy about Kaioto's last statement, but is delighted that she gets to stay. As she smiles down at the babies, the girl opens her eye, and in an instant, both babies are awake and ready to be fed.

Wild Unicorn

A dark black and gold hawk swooped over the palace, with two dangling bags from each talon. His golden eyes scanned over the palace for a few moments, before ducking over the guards to drop both packages on their heads before they could react to him.

The packages bounced off their heads and in front of them, one with a note addressed to the Empress. And strangly enough, bubbles seemed to be coming from both of the packages...

Dear Empress
We havn't really met, only seen each other briefly at the GMFC. However, seeing as I'm also expecting twins, I saw these two and had to get them for the other who would probably go through the same experience. They're both safe for babies, I checked. The snorkels, when moved over the mouth of the bears, are magically charmed to blow dry, safe bubbles. They're only illusions, and will float around the room for a while before popping. To stop it, you just remove the mouthpiece from the bear's mouth.
Congratulations on the birth! I hope it wasn't too painful...

(( hope its okay to post =))

Sati looked at the small piece of paper that her mother had given her, checking the address. Well this was definately it, she thought as she approached the imposing building. Sayuri had asked her daughter to deliver a gift to Kaioto as she found it difficult to do so herself whilst looking after Rhiannon. Sati knocked on a small side door, and when a staff member answered she handed over the gift, and attached card.

Dear Kaioto,
I'm sorry I have not sent this earlier, but I'm sure you understand how much children take your time up! I am sending this to congratulate you on the birth of your beautiful twins, Solaris and Kiana (pretty names by the way!). I hope this finds you, and them well.
Yours,
Sayuri, David, Sati, Silver and Rhiannon.
