Welcome to Gaia! ::

Welcome to the Dragon Kyn's first ever Valentine Sweetheart event! There's going to be some small events going on, with a large focus on the results of Valentine's Day lovin' - eggs! If you don't know anything about Kyns, then please follow our link above to the main thread and check out our general rules of the shop. We hope that you enjoy your time with us here!

General Rules
- Planning can be done in this thread, the main kyn thread, through PMs, the guild, etc. Don't feel bad if you ask people in the thread to breed kyn. Just be wary about PMing people you don't know, please. Also, if you want something to be kept private, then I suggest you should stick to PMs.
- Be courteous. Do not make someone feel obligated to accept your proposal of breeding, or try and guilt people into thinking that they need to breed their kyn with yours or buy you something.
- Don't whine, complain, beg, start fights, insult, etc.
- If you have a question, please ask it either in this thread. By asking in the thread, you could get input and help from other users, sometimes a lot faster than if it was just someone on the mule responding. If you want it to be secret, then feel free to PM it - we won't bite, but we might be a little slow. ^.^
- All fully-grown kyn must be saved and hosted to your own server, and the shop must be given the link so that your kyn can be placed in the owner's list.
- When naming kyn, please PM the mule or post the name and link to your kyn in this thread.

Heart Amulets

So, what are Heart Amulets and what makes them so special? Heart Amulets are simply a little something that your smitten kyn can give to his or her smittee, er, boyfriend/girlfriend/mate/lover-to-be as a sign of affection.

So then, why are Heart Amulets not for sale in the standard shop?
Simple! Because there are different types, some being very very special. The Heart Amulet is also another one of those limited time items that Waarufu started to introduce with the New Year's Sparklers.

Heart Amulets may appear to be simple trinkets that a kyn wears, but they are also reflections of feelings towards that kyn. Some even have unique powers that enhance the, erm, 'abilities' of love, causing interesting effects in relation to clutch size and offspring.

Please note that the amulets do not give you a 'free' egg, only an extra one just as if it was to be rolled normally; you would still have to pay the 1.5K for the extra egg to be bought if you wanted it. Also, they do not guarantee a breeding slot anywhere; you'd still need to get that for yourself. You can, however, use them in conjunction with breedings won/purchased in this event!

Types of Heart Amulets

The Red Hearts

Red Heart Amulets are a true sign of passion, and a great risk when given to someone. These amulets are also the most powerful, their energies the most concentrated.

Vibrant Red Heart
The Vibrant Red Heart Amulet reflects love, but it is much stronger because it is true love and not simply passion that is held within it. The Vibrant Red Heart Amulet, however, does not last for all eternity. It is said that as the Pulsing Red Heart fades with time, love only grows stronger.

Effect: The size of the clutch is not constrained by the standards (2-5 eggs); the parents also have the strange ability to determine the genders of all the eggs within the clutch and sometimes which species will be the dominant.
Use: Twice
Price: 3K

Pulsing Red Heart
This amulet is so spectacular, it seems to glow with a warmth from within. The love between these two kyn is unbelievably strong, but it may not last forever. It is said that this amulet's beauty fades after the first clutch of eggs is laid.

Effect: Increases chance of mutation in offspring, sometimes creating ones that were not present in parents or strengthening to an extreme ones that were already there; adds one egg to the final number of the clutch, despite the limits
Effect Explanation: For mutations in this circumstance, a coin will be flipped to determine whether they are present and then a randomizer will be used to decide to what degree.
Use: Once
Price: 1,500g

Red Heart
A magnificient amulet that fades with time, showing how much one can love another. The strange magic within it, though seemingly less potent than some of the other amulets, is still very strong in comparison to the known kyn spells.

Effect: Increases clutch size by one egg, regardless of the standard constraints of 2-5 eggs per clutch
Use: Once
Price: 1,000g

Weeping Red Heart
It was once a beautiful Red Heart Amulet of any type, yet the one who was to receive it never rejected or accepted the giver's offer. Because of this, the heart began to weep and the giver is left to bear the burden. It is believed that if the one who was to receive the amulet later accepts it, the heart will stop weeping. Sadly, by that time, the magic will have drained out of it in the tears.

Broken Red Heart
Equally beautiful to all the other Red Heart Amulets at one point, the one who was to receive this amulet rejected it. From the sorrow of the one rejected, the heart broke and instantly released all its stored magic. It is said that those who wear Broken Red Heart Amulets are often entirely overcome with grief if they ever see the one who rejected them.

The Pink Hearts

Pink Heart Amulets lack the magical qualities of their Red Heart cousins, but there is no less love placed into these.

Pink Heart
A finely crafted amulet given to someone that either you have a crush on, or are already in a serious relationship.

Effect: Increases clutch size by one, but cannot excede the maximum of 5 eggs per clutch
Use: Once
Price: 800g

Weeping Pink Heart
When the giver's amulet is neither accepted nor rejected, then the giver wears it him/herself. The magic within the amulet, finite as it may be, causes the stone to appear to weep. The potential receiver, if they later accept the offer of the amulet, can stop its weeping. It will never have the same luster that it once did, however.

Broken Pink Heart
It is said that looking upon this amulet can cause great sorrow because the one intended to receive it gave it back. This rejection caused the amulet to snap into two pieces, barely joined together at the base. Legends say that nothing can repair a broken heart.

The White Hearts

Given between friends or as a symbol of someone's great achievement, these ornate amulets are not something to take lightly. They are embedded with an emerald and two small rubies.

Price: 20g

The Inactive Hearts

Once all the magic seeps out of one of the magically-inclined hearts, they turn a pale shade of their original color, or sometimes grey, depending upon the circumstance of their failing magic.

What are these again?
Red Heart Amulets enhance breedings between the pair of kyn, however if either of those kyn breed outside of that pair before or after the amulet is given it will turn grey, having lost all its power. They are one time use special items, and will fade to a lighter shade of red once their powers are used up.

Pink and White Heart Amulets have no special powers, but are cute little gifts that can be given to other kyn in honor of Valentine's Day. They won't ever fade, unless something bad happens between the pair who share a Pink Amulet.

Unique to White Heart Amulets however, is that they cannot be refused. Every kyn feels very compelled to accept them, after all, they are shiny!

And how do I go about getting one?
That's the fun part! As an owner, you can't get one at all. Amulets are given by a specific kyn to another specific kyn. Yes, this encourages role-play, but does not require it. In order for this to work, everyone has to abide by specific rules and take great care in filling out forms. If you don't, things aren't going to work.

However, basically you fill out the form, send it to the mule via PM, start the trade, the mule confirms the trade, and you accept the trade. Whatever else you do in regards to roleplay is up to you. Keep in mind that if your kyn isn'y giving it to another one of your own kyn, then you won't be getting anything (except maybe the benefit of the breedings depending on the amulet).

So, who gets what now?
When all the gold is settled, a PM will be sent to the owner of the kyn that your kyn is sending the amulet to (which could be yourself, oddly enough o.O). The PM details, roughly, what the amulet is and who it is that is giving it. It also asks the owner if the kyn will accept or reject the amulet. Accepting it means that the amulet will be placed on that kyn's neck (or in their cert, according to the owner's wishes). Whether they accept or reject it, the owner of the sender will receive a PM from the shop mule explaining what happened. In the case of rejection, the sender (the kyn) gets the amulet placed on his or her neck.

Wait - so I could totally spend the gold and get nothing in return?
Well, you get a cool looking amulet. And that's why it's important to plan things in advance!

Well, hold on, there aren't prices beside those 'Weeping', 'Broken', and 'Inactive' amulets. I want one!
Those amulets are only gotten through actions specific to their purpose. The Weeping Amulets are only if the kyn refuses to send a reply to you; Broken Heart Amulets are when the receiver refuses to take the amulet from the giver; and the inactive amulets are what happens once the power is spent of them.

I'm confused now...
Uhm... I can't answer that kind of a question...

Oh, yes, one more thing. Right now, Waarufu is the only one accepting the amulets in breeding. Kahyou doesn't know they exist yet. ^.^;

Breaking Hearts

As awkward, unforgiving, and dark as the title may suggest, these aren't your normal hearts. Far from it, Breaking Hearts are actually an odd sort of plant that have a tendency to swallow things up - including Kyn eggs! These plants also produce a very extraordinary fruit, which is rumored to do something special when a female or male kyn ingests one before breeding. But what exactly that power is isn't something that can be pre-planned.

So, in honor of Valentine's Day, Aedan has agreed to allow a few people into his field to pick the plants. He's already said that not all of them are ripe enough to bear fruit, but some of them have managed to swallow up kyn eggs! And of all things, Hiram even dropped his basket of amulets out there and all the plants gobbled them up! Goodness, what a mess this is!

In order to pick a Breaking Heart plant, you must pay Aedan 500g. However, you get all rights to whatever is inside of your plant once it blooms.

Because Valentine's Day is a time for giving, the first person to post on every 10 pages will receive one of the odd plants for free. Also, Aedan will only allow you to purchase your way into getting one plant for yourself, but you can buy as many as you want for your friends!

What - so, these plants don't all have something cool in them?
Aedan's assured us that, as far as he knows, every plant has ingested something from the ranch. You can tell because their buds are swollen and a darker green in color, meaning they're almost ready to bloom. Breaking Heart plants only bloom after ingesting something, or when they've generated a fruit!

However, to be fair, we have included an approximation of the odds of getting something! Do remember, that we don't really know for sure what types of amulets were in that basket of Hiram's, so there's no telling what might come out!
Fruit Bearing Plants: 5%, meaning that only one in every twenty may have an actual fruit
Kyn Eggs: 10%, or one in every ten
Amulets: 84%, or essentially everything else
Ranch Odds and Ends: 1%; well, we can't account for everything!

Valentine Breeding Specials

I'm sure what most people who already own kyn are interested in is breeding. Breeding can be very important to an individual kyn, or it could just, well, not. But, regardless, breeding does produce eggs and most people love little baby dragons running around. As long as they stay away from your shoes, right? Anyways, in honor of Valentine's Day, Waarufu is holding some special ooportunities for people to get free breedings or oddly specific breedings!

What about those amulets, can I use them here?
If at the time that these are drawn/decided one of the kyn owns an amulet from the other or a fruit from the Heart Breaker plant, then it can be used. Remember, breeding kyns together that have amulets from different kyn will cause that amulet to lose all its power!

The Perfect Couple

OVAR!

Think that you know or own two kyn who are just the best couple ever? Know that you have two kyn that are a better couple than everyone else? Great for you, but here's a way to prove it! Post in the thread your reason why, whether it be an RP or just a few sentences. You will be entered here to win the Perfect Couple prize - a free breeding by Waarufu! Be sure you have the other owner's permission if you don't own both kyn.

Winnar!
Nicky McCloud
Owners' Names: Rabid Bunnie and Nicky McCloud
Female Kyn: San and Moro
Male Kyn: Ashitaka
Reason Why: Ashitaka faced down a fierce warrior woman, insane monks, and even the cursed forest gods themselves to help save San and the forest that she and her tribe were sworn to protect. They could not be together as humans. San was too disenchanted and jaded by the actions of humans against the forest. Now that they are dragons, who is to stand in the way of their love? (I was going to go into a much longer explanation, but there were WAY too many spoilers. XD)

Your Worst Nightmare

OVAR!

Have two kyn that are the worst of enemies, but you still want their babies!? Well, okay, we'll give you credit for trying, but you know that they're going to be little monsters. To prove how much pain you're going to have to suffer through, why not win the Worst Nightmare award? You even get a free breeding by Waarufu! Just post your reasons why these two kyn are so horrible they deserve each other. Just be sure to have the other kyn's owner's permission first.

Female Kyn: Aneth

Male Kyn: Sharketsu
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/pokegal/dragon%20pets/sharketsu.png

Reason Why: Oh god, you want reasons?

people will argue that they would be a good couple because they are both aquatic kyn. Well then I'm telling you now you people have your head in the sand for to long!
Aneth is one of the sweetest kyn poke owns. She is kind, gentle, and can be easily scared away by large male kyn or even aggressive ones. At the moment she only knows the other kyn in her clan, and has talked to ganons kyn tare for aprox, 10 seconds.

Sharketsu is on the oppisite side of the personality scale. Poke swears to god to anyone who bears to listen that he is somehow related to jaws, or the sharks from deep blue sea. Every member of pokes team (including herself) has been a target of sharketsu's ferocity at least once. Hell he's even attacked kyn from other clans! He is always hungry and, Rarely listens to anyone. Hell poke has a hard time keeping him under controll, and he sometimes listens to aneth or taku depending on his mood.

however if you want to go to genetic side, then most breeders would be very intriged at the babies that could result from this couple. Slight bubble gum markings and koi triats on a eruopean, combined with the dna of a japanese thressher shark? the possibilites could be endless!

The Extended Family

OVAR!
Type: Free Raffle, Winners Pay

Have you ever wanted just the perfect number of eggs for your clutch without the worry of chance? Then this is the perfect opportunity for you. Standard breeding rules apply, but you don't even have to fight the crowds for this one. In order to enter, simply post the below form in the thread - for as many pairs of kyns as you want as long as both parties agree! However, you may only submit one pairing per type of breeding. This doesn't mean that you can't use the same single kyn in multiple breedings, however. The same female cannot win multiple breedings, but she can be entered in multiple pairings.

Remember, these are instant, guaranteed slots with a set number of eggs (Amulets can change this). The best part is that you get all the eggs to do with as you please (bar reselling) for only the up-front cost - which is less than if you got a plain breeding spot! The gold to pay for the breeding can be split between the two owners, but MUST arrive in one trade to the mule if you win.

Shirtless Powerhouse

Nicky, we should try oddly specifically breeding Falke and InuYasha. X)
*grins* There are going to be some non-normal breeding options/regulations this time around. *nod* I'll see what I can get thrown together before I have to leave, but I have a meeting from 7 - ? and work to do when I get back (reading). So, we'll see how much I actually get done between now and when I have to get ready and leave. ^.^

I just want everyone to have time enough to plan things... Xp

awssommeee stuff happeneing X3

ooo, can we post all the kyns we feel like breeding with, and/or start roleplaying if we want?

Shapeshifter

*Peeks her head into the thread*
Feel free to, lol. Just note that I am going to request that if you're posting more than two kyn to post links to them, not their pictures directly. Just to help save those with a slower connection. *will go add that to the rules*

You also might wanna wait a bit and see what's going on with the breedings first. Some things are, as I've said, a little special. Xp
Okay, the Heart Amulet section is mostly together, bar pricing for two of the amulets and the previews.

Uhm, if you really want to you I suppose you could order White Amulets, but all the others are closed for now. And you might wanna wait and see the previews first. Xp
The two freebie events are now open for entries!

I'll see if I can get the other breeding stuffs information up tonight. ^.^;
