    username; i.lu

    character name; Colin Fox
    age; twenty-four.
    gender; male.
hometown; the city of Beaumains, Ancelstierre.
role; Wing Commander of the ARA: the Ancelstierrian Royal Airforce.

appearance; No giant amongst men, but by standing at a height of six-foot-two Colin manages to present a rather imposing figure. This is not only due to his prominence but also in accordance to the way that he holds himself; he has the disposition of someone very comfortable, very confident, and very proud. It's a soldier's posture; that much is for sure - and also the deportment of a man from a strict and polite society, no doubt: straight spine, squared shoulders, and the very personal tilt to his chin that can barely be noticed by even the most calculating of people, but allows him a vantage point of peering down his nose at others. Of course, it's often a wonder that someone with such an unimportant background could be so cocksure, but one must also take into consideration the fact that Colin is a trained member of the airforce and is the youngest to reach his rank of Wing Commander since the development of the ARA - that at least gives some reason for a bit of boldness.

His build, though muscular, is not overly so. Too much of the bulging mass would make him less of a candidate for flying the lighter aircraft currently in development, and Colin is not at all prepared to jeopardize any further promotions. That being said, he is also required to remain fit at all times, so therefore though his physique is compact, it is still well-defined and not overweight. Colin's features give hint that his unknown bloodline could be that of some elegant higher class, for he sports a very distinct bone structure in his face; a chiselled jawline, firm cheekbones, a (rather) straight nose (previously broken), all leading in towards a pair of lips slightly bow-like in shape that are most usually found pursed with deep thought or irritation. Colin's toning is naturally lightly tanned; and from what days he enjoys outside russet hair is flecked with lighter shades of brown and blonde. That firm jaw is more often than not left slightly stubbled; but when duty calls for it he's not opposed to being clean shaven - and finally the rather darkness of his features are set off by the apparent sharp blueness of his eyes. They're a rather ordinary shade of blue; accompanied by a little grey - but they're almost always quite analytical and intense: he's probably the last person you want to be caught in a staring contest with.

Clothing-wise, his most well-worn apparel is, of course, his uniform; the appropriate jumpsuit over shirt and pants when flying, and during official occassions the full dress greys; both with three red bands on each shoulder to denote his rank as Wing Commander. Otherwise he's most often clad in whatever clothes he deems fit; his favourite item of clothing is a rather worn jacket made from leather, or a good pair of gloves and a scarf, as Beaumains winters can be the worst.

personality; As was stated earlier, Colin is a young man with quite a bit of pride. In a society so lost in the enigma that is 'social class and heirarchy', it's no wonder he's put so much effort into lofting his stand in it. Of course, he'll never be as highly respected as someone from a family with a generation of pure high-class bloodline, but that has not stopped him from trying. As someone with no known living relatives and a complete lack of connections, Colin's career paths were narrowed quite greatly - but luckily the Ancelstierrian Royal Airforce had called to him from a young age and they (mostly) seemed interested in talent, not history. The arrogance Colin possesses is a mixture of common nature and self-defense; and obviously one can't escape the inflation of pride one would gain from ranking so high at such a young age. He's rather happy to be the envy and subject of much annoyance for his commanding officers; one could say that it's what helps him sleep at night.

Colin's been firmly trained in the art of respect and social etiquette, but that does not stop him from having a silver-tongue that more often than not lands him in a fair few confrontations. Once again it's the mechanism of self-defense that causes him to be so bloody cocksure with his words; better to seem smug and full of taunting retorts than silent and stricken with fear. It's generally a soldier's mentality - he is one, after all; almost every comrade in the airforce has an air of importance over the ground forces, and he is not any different, but that does not mean they aren't the same one way or another - they merely kill (and defend) by different means.

Not surprisingly, Colin sports quite a few leadership qualities; he's ambitious, resolute, cunning (ironically: like a fox), convincing and with a certain inner-strength that draws others to him. He's also arrogant and has a smartass attitude that's a telltale sign of his age and relative inexperience.

Colin is gallant, reckless, confident, imperious, intelligent, foolhardy, and tenacious.

short history; Colin's background is not at all eventful and actually a subject of no interest to him. He grew up an orphan - which to most would leave mental scars upon, but all in all Colin can honestly not imagine a life with a family. The orphanage he attended was more like a school, and was not at all dreary and horrid like most people describe. Most of what Colin remembers is playing a great deal of soccer and learning about countries far across the ocean; the orphanage also dealt out a great deal of etiquette, for both boys and girls - they wanted these children to grow up into very well educated young people: just because they lacked parents or guardians doesn't mean they should turn into a gang of hooligans. Strict and conservative, yes, and their bonds with the children professional - but it did not make them any less capable of raising those who would otherwise be lost without them. Colin rarely spent time imagining what family couldn't support him or hadn't wanted him - they were of no importance to him now, and the orphanage was more family enough.

Consequently, when Colin was old enough he realised that though the orphanage itself had been of good quality and high standards, it meant that as he did not have an actual family name to rely on (Fox was chosen by the orphanage Mother Superior; they went alphabetically.) All in all, he would have to do everything himself if he ever wanted to amount to something in life - and to 'be' someone was definitely what Colin craved above all else. If it was anything in life that young master Fox wanted to achieve, it was greatness. Having been rather intrigued and in awe of the entire idea of flying from a young age, Colin's choice of career was easy - and the Ancelstierrian Royal Airforce enrolled whoever they could. Of course, they were not excused from social prejudices, and Colin found that the majority of the highest ranking officers were from noble families that had been involved in the ARA since it ever began.

Of course, that didn't stop him from rising to the rank of Wing Commander at a mere twenty-four years of age.

And so, greatness did Colin achieve - or so he should think. Now, with war breaking out between Ancelstierre and Marquell, a new chapter of his life will begin - but not in the way that he has assumed.

    miscellaneous;
    • Colin's favourite sport is soccer and would like to play it at any chance he gets. Had he not been accepted into the ARA, he would have considered following a path in the sport instead.
    • Though not a fan of sweets, the quickest way into Colin's good graces is with turkish delight.
    • Colin, like the rest of Ancelstierre, does not believe in the existence of magic across the Wall.
    colour; indian red.

    position; royalty.

    character name; Acelin.
    age; nineteen
    gender; male.
    hometown; Navis.
    role; necromancer.

appearance; It seems to be some sort of accepted rule that necromancers are pale, so Acelin is - appropriately - very pale. His hair is dark and rather hacked apart; some of it is long, most of it is short, and it's almost painfully evident that he does his own haircuts himself.

His eyes are very pale, and might be nice to look at if they weren't the sort of color that seems uncomfortably piercing and mean, which he promises he isn't.

He isn't very tall - only about 5'6, and he's awfully skinny, which can be accredited to an extremely poor diet, as most of the good food goes to Mogget (damned cat).

He keeps his right arm concealed underneath a heavy coat, as his right hand is broken and useless, which was the result of a particularly horrible attempt at necromancy that involved several factors, including a very heavy bell, pneumonia, a sending, and an extremely hysterical Mogget (which was actually rather terrifying, even though he was laughing). Acelin does not like to speak of it, and simply hopes that by not talking about it, he can pretend it never happened ever.

personality; If it were up to Acelin, he would not speak to anyone, and he would be happy living his life alone playing with dead things - but, as it were, he happened to meet Mogget, who quickly forced him out of his boring silences and helped him develop at least half a wit.

As such, whenever he does have anything to say, it is usually sarcastic and rude, whether or not he had intended as much. Sadly, every girl he has ever spoken to thinks he is a creepy a*****e, so he has resigned himself to believe that girls are overrated and has never dated in his life.

He is actually rather friendly, if given the chance, but this friendliness often makes way for sissiness, so Mogget has trained him to resist the urge and continue to pretend that he is really a creepy a*****e who doesn't like anyone and only talks to his weird pet cat.

short history; Acelin grew up with his mother, who was most certainly a sweet thing with all the right intentions and nothing but adoration for her only son. Unfortunately, she was a couple symbols short of a charter spell, and she was killed in a ridiculous accident when Acelin was twelve.

Until then, she had tried very hard to teach him how to be a good necromancer - but as she herself was not one, and Acelin's father had only left them with his bandolier and an odd green book after his death, this did not go very well, and she only managed to take him into Death a total of two times, and Acelin never became more than a virtual newbie while under her care.

The day she died, the two of them had been attempting to summon a dead hand to cook for them (hers was atrocious and it had actually worked before; not bad, if you didn't mind a few pieces of rotting flesh in your food). Unfortunately, after they sent the dead hand back into death, she became ill. Rotting flesh in your food will do that to you, evidently, and she died a few days later, leaving Acelin alone with a strange mixture of sadness and utter confusion as to how his mother had even survived as long as she had.

So he took up a life of traveling, slowly learning more about his macabre art until he ran into Mogget, who taught him much more than his poor mother had ever been able to.

miscellaneous; He travels around with the head-ache that is Mogget, who at least attempts to make him a less crappy necromancer.
    colour; light purple-grey.

    position; abhorsen.

    username; corona stained

    character name; Mogget.
age; he was old and crotchety before you were even conceived.
    gender; male.
    hometown; none to speak of.
    role; free magic being.

appearance; currently, he’s adopted the form of a small, white, short-haired cat. He wears a charter collar around his neck with the bell of Ranna attached to it.

personality; utterly snarky brat. He can usually help you out – it’s just a matter of whether he feels like it or not, and he generally doesn’t.

He rather likes everyone; he can appreciate the wit of smart people, and laugh at the expense of the stupid ones. Overwhelming ignorance, however, wears rather quickly on what little patience there is to be had, so he prefers to keep company with the smarter ones.

He is obviously rather intelligent, as one usually is when one is snarky and intolerant of idiocy.

If you are going to tell him a joke, make sure that it is at least somewhat clever before you tell him.

Food pleases him, even though he does not really have to eat it.

He also holds grudges – should you happen to be unfortunate enough to have one held against you, you should probably pray that no one ever removes his collar when you are within a hundred yards of him, as the collar is the only thing separating you from total annihilation at the hands of a wrathful and merciless Free Magic beast.

Otherwise, he is a normal kitty what likes to be spoiled.

short history; Mogget was originally the Eighth Bright Shiner, and was then known as Yrael. When seven of the Nine chose to structure the world and Free Magic by creating the Charter, he chose to hide, remaining neutral.

When the last of the Nine, Orannis, began his battle with the Seven, Yrael again remained neutral. For this inaction, he was enslaved by the Seven after they narrowly defeated Orannis.

He became the servant of the Abhorsens after his imprisonment for millennia. Naturally, he despises them all and would not be averse to seeing them all fall off the edge of the world or ripping them to shreds with his fiery claws of vengeance.

But they’re all dead now. So Mogget is all bueno, and he’s content with being spoiled as a kitty by a loser necromancer named Acelin until someone does something stupid –

Preferably in the form of taking his collar off.

miscellaneous; He travels with the necromancer Acelin and tries to keep him from being sucky at it.
    colour; light green.

    username: Yukita.Riku
character name: Akshita (means ‘not subject to death’ in Indian)
    age: 25
    gender: Female
hometown: Gardil, but is currently wandering.
    role: Necromancer

appearance: Akshita has long brown hair she almost always wears down (note picture). Her eyes are also brown, very dark brown, almost black like the ebony handles on some necromancer's bells. (Hers’ personally are made from bone, she often wonder's who's or what's) She is tall, about 5 foot 10 inches and athletically built. Good for outrunning the dead! Her arms are long, lean, her hands agile and quick. Mostly because they have to be, you can’t be clumsy or slow in her line of work. Her skin is not too pale, like so many necromancers are in fact she is rather tan. She also has a good amount of freckles scattered across her face.
Akshika is usually found wearing a short green-blue tunic with golden trim and leggings with heavy traveling boots. She wears chain mail beneath her clothes to protect from physical injury and her bells are always carried across her chest. She carries a middle-length sword as well as a small dagger hidden on the inside of her leg. She also carries on her a brown leather backpack with food, and other various provisions for when she is traveling between towns.

personality: Akshita is a woman of many faces. She is very smart and knows how to get what she wants, but most likely she won’t show you this part of herself (the smart intellectual part, unless to make a smart-a** remark, she has a very quick wit). Most likely you will get the VERY childish, stubborn part of her. Unless she is trying to get you to do something for you. Then she is completely different, she’ll be so sweet it’ll give you a cavity. (As a young child she could always get what she wanted from anyone.) She has a very strong will, and will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. She has lots of pride and won’t forget easily if you insult her.
She hates people who patronize her, though when she acts so childish it’s hard not to. She often is careless with her necromancy which, in this particular business isn’t the greatest thing to be. She’s had a few close calls but she’s managed to slip out of them generally unscathed. She has gotten more cautious, but not much.
Mostly since there is nothing better to do , she uses her necromancy for petty things, and though she has practiced she hasn’t gained a level of mastery that she could even think about going against someone like the abhorsen, not that they were around all that much anymore.
At this point you may be thinking that Akshita is a very shallow person and in most cases she is. But her shallowness is deceptive and like most people, Akshita has a reason to act the way she does, mostly to mask the hurt she feels from several events in her life.

short history: Akshita was born in Gardil, a bustling town filled with people, happy people for the most part. Her father had died before she could remember due to an unfortunate accident involving a machete. Her mother was a fairly skilled charter mage and she raised Akshita by herself. Akshita grew up peacefully for the most part, except for a routine dead creature running about. Her mother taught her basic fighting skills since Akshita did not have the use of charter magic. But still Akshita always felt rather disconnected and different from her mother, and she longed for a father in her life. You know, to tell her about all the things in the world her mother could not.
At 16, Akshita was the typical rebellious teen. She never did what her mother told her to. In fact she wanted to be as different from her mother as she could. Akshita didn’t want to wait around helping other people (Akshita’s mother helped protect the town from dead creatures.) she wanted to go out into the world and do something for herself. She didn’t want to worry about other people and what they thought, their feelings. So, she finally ran away.
After that Akshita went to Belisaere, where she met a rather experienced necromancer. He was the father she had been looking for all those years. Someone to show her things she couldn’t be shown by her mother. He introduced her to Necromancy. At first she wasn’t all too keen about it, but after a while, after he showed her how she could control things with this power she began to like it more and more. She also, deep down, almost subconsciously, had always been jealous of her mother for being born with the charter, so when she found she could use this magic, she was over joyed.
But, Akshita’s happiness with her new ‘father’ who treated her well, gave her gifts, and showed her into death all the way into the 8th precinct, was to be cut short. Being a necromancer has many risks aside from the whole death thing, the Abhorsen is often quite a problem; especially if you are causing troubles for the Abhorsen. Unfortunately, that is exactly what Akshita’s adopted father was doing. Splitting charter stones, summoning dead creatures on a regular basis, sometimes he was teaching Akshita, others he was acting for other reasons. Never the less the Abhorsen was coming after him.

“Akshita, I want you to take my bells, I don’t think I’ll be needing them for a while so I want you to protect them, do not try and come after me. I love you."
    ~Robert

Akshita wasn’t stupid, she knew why her father was gone, it was the abhorsen that had taken him away from her. Unfortunately she didn’t know where he had gone, so she couldn’t find him, though undoubtedly he was somewhere in death if not past the 9th precinct.
Another of her father’s had been stolen, it hurt much more this time, and she decided that she would not rest until the abhorsen was dead. She practiced her necromancy very hard for the next few years even traveling back to Gardil, which now was empty. Overrun by death, the charter stones had been split. She had now lost all of her parents.
One killed on accident, one killed by the abhorsen, and the other killed by Akshita’s own craft.
The s**t had really hit the fan.

    miscellaneous:
She has never journeyed past the 8th precinct.
    She loves food and eating.
colour: Black with my little red nonsense letters around it.

username; Kouou

character name; Thaedra
age; 17
gender; Female
hometown; The Clayr's Glacier, Old Kingdom
role; A Daughter of the Clayr

appearance; The physical aspects generally attributed to the Clayr are bright blonde hair, skin that tans to a nut brown shade, and light green or blue eyes. Thaedra has all of these features - she is, physically, a perfect example of a Clayr. White blonde hair falls straight down from a widow's peak, brushing the bottom of her shoulder blades. Her eyes are a glowing shade of light blue that stand out against her skin which has been darkened by the sun to a rich golden brown. Like any Clayr gifted with Sight, she wears the white robe and silver-and-moonstone circlet of her station.

Thaedra is of average height, about five-feet-five-inches. Still young, it is possible she could grow more; her figure is still maturing - girlishly slim, but with appropriately womanely curves beginning to take shape. All in all, she is a long, elegant figure. Her limbs and appendages all have a graceful length and her face, with high cheekbones and a fairly prominent nose, is strong and clear. Thaedra wears a carved ebony pendant on a long silver chain below her clothing. It is a gift from her long-gone father, the only link she has to him and she wears it beneath her clothing at all times.

personality; The typical Clayr is elegant and poised. The typical Clayr hides behind a wall of serenity. The typical Clayr blends in with the rest during the Nine Day Watch, ceasing to be an individual and becoming part of the whole. The purpose is clarity. The purpose is to enhance Sight. Thaedra's problem is, the more she tries to be a perfect Clayr, the weaker her Sight becomes.

Thaedra's mother was one of the most prominent and powerful Voices of the Nine Day Watch, a leader among the Clayr. It was she who led the Clayr to retreat from dealing with the rest of the Kingdom, claiming a vision of danger and certain death. Thaedra would like nothing more than to follow in her mother's footsteps and become a similarly passionate, charismatic, and calming force among her people. She works at whatever she can to become the best Clayr she knows how to be, performing every task she is given with as much effort and concentration as she puts into her Sight.

However, when confronted by her failure to See anything, Thaedra is surprised to find such fiery emotions as anger and despair curdling her blood and burning behind her eyes. She stubbornly tries to push them away, keeping her eyes ever on her goals. Such is Thaedra's way - to try and try despite whatever failures crop up. Sometimes this inward focus blinds her to the needs and views of others, but she sets such concerns aside, insisting to herself that by becoming a better and more powerful Clayr, she will become a better person, and better suited to lead the Clayr much like her mother did.

short history; Thaedra was born, as all Clayr are, in the Glacier. Her mother, Vienne, was the Voice of the Nine Day Watch, in essence, the leader of the Clayr who Saw. Her father was a merchant, a man who came to the Glacier bearing goods and left having helped Vienne to conceive. For the first few years of her life, Thaedra trailed after her mother wherever she could, and stuck firmly to whatever guardian was assigned her when Vienne was unable to attend to her daughter. Thaedra's love for her mother was great - so the death of the Voice was a tragedy that ran deeper in her heart than in all the hearts of the rest of the Clayr.

After that, Thaedra migrated from aunt to aunt until it was her time to join the other Clayr children in the children's quarters. There she remained until she was Seen by the new Voice, a quiet, sweet woman by the name of Ureth, at the age of nine. Thaedra received her Sight earlier than many, and the elders among the Clayr had great hopes for her. For a few years she lived up to them, growing more and more proficient at Seeing. Then the nightmares started.

Images of bloody chaos tormented Thaedra's mind, images so violent and horrific that they brought the girl to body shaking tears whenever they came. At first she panicked, asking anyone and anyone what the dreams meant, searching any volume in the library that might be of some aid. But she was told to compose herself, that the images were only dreams and that they would pass. So Thaedra composed herself, thrusting all thought of the nightmares from her mind as soon as she woke. But the more she tucked them away, the weaker her Sight became.

Thaedra has Seen nothing for nearly a year now - literally nothing. She is still called to the Nine Day Watch as a Sighted Clayr, but she no longer shares the communal visions. Instead, she desperately pretends to See and lies low, hiding behind a mask of cool confidence and waiting, hoping, for her Sight to return. What she will not admit is defeat. Her dream has always been to be a great Clayr. And she will do whatever she must to achieve that goal.

miscellaneous; The pendant from her father is a carved obsidian raven; he left it with Vienne for Thaedra to have when she was old enough. Thaedra works in the kitchens and the armory.

    username; The Phrenologikal Cat.

    character name; Seff Medárd.

age; since the creation of the Charter presumably.
gender; while technically genderless, Seff does have particularly, ah, masculine qualities.
hometown; Belisaere in the Old Kingdom.
role; Charter Mage, you could say.

appearance; at a first glance, Seff is the most average human you will ever see. He just oozes usualness. With a fairly average height for a grown man, possibly in his late twenties to early thirties, he doesn’t stand out much in a crowd. He has coppery skin and his light brown hair, brushed with golden streaks, long enough to brush about his ears, is inconspicuous and rather plain. Yes, at a first glance Seff is the most average human you will ever see.

However, if you are born with a Charter Mark, you will find that you cannot help but take a second glance, which will quickly dissolved into a shameless stare. His skin, his hair, even his clothes, are all crawling with an infinite number of Charter Marks. His eyes, which are usually shadowed by his hair, are kept hidden for a reason. To gaze into them is to gaze into the very Charter itself, an endless blackness buzzing with Charter Marks. Your eyes will be caught, and you will find yourself falling, falling, falling into the Charter, to be lost forever...

Of course by that point Seff will have b***h slapped you, and you would be rubbing your cheek and hurrying away, feeling the memory of these odd little details trickling from your mind like water through a sieve.

personality; Seff isn’t very good at the whole “social” thing. After all, he has only recently become a freely moving, thinking being. He isn’t up-to-date on basic etiquette, and as a result he comes off as a little stiff, eccentric, and quite possibly rude. Seff has a quirk for stating the obvious, for he has his doubts about the intelligence of the average human. He has no patience for you if you are of no use to him, and no patience if you get on his nerves.

Seff can come off as arrogant, and this is most likely because he is arrogant. He is something of great importance and he knows it. You aren’t and so he flaunts it. He’s haughty, sceptical and criticising.

Seff is also naïve. He has only recently become aware, so to speak, of his existence. He has knowledge of the world, being more a part of it than most humans, but knows next to nothing practical about it. Because of this, some of his comments, actions and curiosities can cause him to seem childish.

short history; Seff’s fate is heavily intertwined with that of the Charter. He is, after all, a part of it. He was created as an implement of order by seven of the Nine Bright Shiners, to protect a newly forming world from the worst of the chaos of Free Magic. He is as much all the Great Stones and every Charter Stone erected through the Old Kingdom as he is just one individual Stone.

In a macabre twist of history, he was broken by the blood of royalty, slain by Prince Rogir, who eventually became Kerigor. He was left to rot and crumble, until centuries later royal blood was once more spilt upon him – this time in healing, to mend his broken forms.

Years passed, and the cycle went around once more into a phase of destruction. One of the Great Stones was broken, the rest buried beneath rubble. What happened next is not clear even to Seff, but by chance or by fate, the “essence” of the Great Stones, one could say, took on a life. It made a body, taking Charter Symbols to craft this new, physical being, and the Great Stones took residence within.

miscellaneous; he carries upon a chain about his neck a palm-sized piece of rock, splashed with the ominous black of dried blood. Seff has chronic insomnia, for he can always feel the Charter at work around him and it keeps him awake. Unfortunately, his body cannot keep up with this and so he often passes out randomly as his body forces him to rest.
    colour; coral.

    character name; Leiris
    age; 19
    gender; Female
hometown; Unknown Origin, Now resides in Belsmeir, Ancelstierre
role; Adopted daughter of the mayor of Belsmeir.

appearance; Leiris is a rather tall woman standing at the height of 5'9. She has slender limbs and a clear complexion. Long blonde hair comes down to her waist usually worn either completely loose or in a neat pait that comes to her lower back. Her skin is tan. (Much to the dismay of her peers who had recently gotten into the trend of sunbathing. How annoyed they were when finding out the one person they thought would not ta would be the first...and make it look natural on her)

Her clothing tends to be white. She has a strange attraction to the color white which may have some link to vague memories she had of women wearing long white garments. Her shoes tend to be high heels to the degree that it is rumored she wouldn't be able to walk in flat shoes. The only jewelry she wears is a gold necklace that has a charm of a seven pointed star and a pair of gold loop earings. She can't find any information in Belsmeir about this star and thus is left to conclude it was just the offspring of a jewelers creativity. The necklace was found in among the goods of a traveling merchant.

personality; To say the least, Leiris is a snob. She thinks little of others and tends to concentrate on what she wants. It doesn't necessarily mean she is a bad person but it makes her come off as rather selfish, self centered, and all together stuck up.

There are breif stints of compassion though if you wish to call them that. She will stick up for someone but usually tends to only do so if by that person's degredation, something won't get done. She despises conflicts with her scheduale and the prospect of one of the maids in her household being unable to do her duty makes her that much angrier. She is quick to anger and difficult to speak to if she decides she doesn't like you from the beginning.

short history; About sixteen years ago, the form of a tiny girl was found in the cargo hull of a merchant ship. The crew, who had been switched out since then having come from the Old Kingdom doing some trading, had no idea where the child came from but the dropping temperatures had the girl nearly freezing to death. The girl was carefully wrapped in blankets and taken to an orphanage.

From there, the girl was extremely ill. The orphanage, however, did not have the money in order to give her the medical attention she needed. They sent out cries of help for the child but none were answered. Just when they were sure the girl would die, the visiting mayor of Belsmeir, Mister Rolland Talor and his wife came by the orphanage having received a call regaurding the girl.

Mrs. Talor had been unable to bear children since her last miscarriage had destroyed her reproductive system. She and her husband sought to adopt a child since they could not have one of their own. The story of the girl had touched Mrs. Talor and she decided she must adopt this child. The girl was brought to their home in Belsmeir and named Leiris after Mrs. Talor's mother.

Leiris grew up in a priveledged lifestyle. Anything she wanted was given to her. She had a high status in society and was quite popular in her school. Deciding their child needed to be humbled, her father sent her to her cousin Davern's farm in the summer by her 12th year. Davern's farm was in Forvale, closer to the Wall than she had ever been before. Throughout her stay there, she began to have visions she couldn't explain nor even understand. She didn't tell anyone for fear she would be sent to a saniterium. She dreads each visit every summer.

    miscellaneous;
Leiris is terrified of getting cold. Even at the slightest chill she will bundle up in layers upon layers.

Leiris is an extremely picky eater.

Leiris enjoys pretending to be an idiot in order to hide her just above average intellegence.

character name; Christina Saphra (Sah – f – rah)
age; Seems around 21 or so
    gender; Female
hometown; None, her family were nomadic traders of sorts.
role; Roaming charter mage with an odd connection for making things…

appearance; Christina Saphra, dressed in a rather basic attire, seems your average young adult. With dark waves of hair hanging down just around the tops of her hips and usually worn down, this young woman has a strange attraction towards the Charter, especially since she carries one of the older marks seeming lost to people upon her forehead; that of stone. She doesn’t fully know the magics, seeing how the connection with the Great Charter Stones has began falling apart, but she knows enough on how to work a small spell into something or another as she feels like it, letting the string of golden marks be carried to her tanned skin, well kept nails making it easier to place certain marks in precise places, her ocean blue eyes never missing a beat when ever she works as she also carries an oddity of a tattoo beneath her right eye in a rather bright cyan color with a matching colored tattoo of a sun with a star in the center upon her opposing shoulder. (image should show an example of the one under her eye, woo-sah for photo manipulation)

Not exactly on the giant side of things, Christina come close to about 5’ 7” when she stands up straight, having perhaps an extra inch or so added when she puts on her leather boots, leaving the tops to be covered by a pair of leather ridding pants, though she has no horse at the time. A white blouse with usually a button or two undone, a silver chain hanging around her neck, what ever pendent resides upon it is hidden beneath her blouse, of course, she carries a leather bag with numerous things varying from basic provisions to one or two little things she’s worked on. On her hip rests a strange blade, it’s hilt made from that of rich mahogany that’s as strong as stone with leather wrappings, upon the metal dance a few ever fading charter marks, though they do little good now and leave the blade’s name or message long since lost to time. This fighter also carries a rather heavy long bow slung over one shoulder, a quiver of blue roan feathered arrows beside it, the tips of the shafts made of jagged stone, if the charter were stronger, Christina would undoubted have infused these unique arrows as well, but as is… There’s little she can do, or so many think.

personality; Like a lone wolf, Christina isn’t one to easily make friends, though she’s no fool when it comes to safety in numbers or when to accept help. She’s not a total loner, per say, seeing how no one can survive so easily in the Old Kingdom when they roam about as she does. Once people get to know the actual her, she’s a rather nice person with a rather fierce, fierce protection towards the few she calls friends.

Not very fond of the dead or those who rise them, for that matter, for she sees that as only causing more problems for not only herself, but everyone else around her. Christina doesn’t tolerate seeing pain inflicted upon other people, especially ones who can’t defend themselves or younger children, woe be upon someone who does for while she might not be the strongest of fighters, she’s one that will fight to the end if need be.

short history; Christina has never known what an actual home is like, her family having been nomadic in their nature, traveling with a number of other small families for a sort of protection as they moved from town to town, trading and other such things. Growing up a bit different from the few other children in her ‘family’, Christina never seemed to fit in, being the only one with rather almond shaped eyes, it took her some time to be able to realize that she was truly different from those around her. Of course, her parents never said a word about such things, having treated the dark haired girl with the same love and attention as the rest… Of their red haired children, every man, woman, and child in the little ‘family’ had some shade of red hair. All save little Christina.

Years past as Christina grew older, learning from her father how to defend herself with both a blade and a bow, of course, she also learned the little songs and sayings to remind her of the constant threat of the Dead. Of course, with the faint chills the girl felt when ever the raised corpses were near rose goose bumps upon her arms had her parents realized the help she could be for all of them. So had the strange, dark haired girl found her notch in the family, if she wasn’t exactly one of them, she still was accepted, if not needed, being taken ‘under wing’ by one of the elders of the traveling group. This old woman taught the obvious charter drawn child all that she knew, it wasn’t much, but through out Christina’s years has she learned to adapt the basics to create her own chains with the strange, golden symbols, still oblivious to the charter mark baptized upon her brow.

But all of that was long ago… Wonder what caused this head strong young woman to travel alone? Where were her people and why has she such anger towards the Dead and those who rise them? Better yet, where did her talent with the Charter come from?

    miscellaneous;
Christina doesn’t find herself pretty, in fact, she thinks quite the opposite.

She also doesn’t like the rain, besides the obvious of cloud covers, the rain just makes her sad for some reason.

Christina’s nick name is ‘Chris’, though getting her to admit to that takes a bit of work… Unless she just likes you.

She’s also a nature freak, loves the land, especially animals… Save those made of free magics.

Charter sendings give her the ‘willies’.

character name; Bane, more properly known by ‘Belgaer’
age; He was around before his name was ever known by people.
    gender; Male
    hometown; Old Kingdom
    role; Creating trouble, of course!

appearance; Being a fox has it’s perks, as has this rather small creature has discovered with time giving him a rather swift sort of appearance. With a rather rusty colored under coat along his belly that is quite soft, a grizzle of gray working for the top hairs along his back varying in depth and strength, a bit of black thrown in as well. Just beneath his rather thin legs are white hairs that add onto the bits of his rather unique camouflage that allows him to get about so well, making him quite a sneaker for the tricks he loves to perform from time to time.

Small in size, this fox stands at not much more then a small dog, is body build rather slim as his fur is just thick enough to protect it from the weather. Meant for speed and getting around, he seems nothing more then a basic fox… Yes, of course. With rather light, amber hued eyes and a thin, long snout, this little fox can not only be a bit of a crazy little thing, but dead serious a moment later, if one was to look close enough, they might be able to see the more serious depths behind the glint of mischief in this fox’s eyes.

personality; Bane; trick some who loves to do as he wants, he can be a bit hard to control from time to time and then, only if the fox wishes for it. Much like the bell that uses the same sort of independent though, this is basically all that remains of the original free magic from the seven. Bane isn’t much for following, though he knows when to keep his snout out of certain messes… That he usually starts.

Known for being a trickster, this little fox loves to cause trouble, or, in his words, ‘little bits of fun from time to time’. But being small does give him a bit of an extra boost, he is extremely well at getting around, a helpful little trait that keeps his personality rather bright and light hearted as he gets to learn small things here or there that few would expect, though it does take a lot for him to trust you. Don’t upset this fox too greatly though, for while Bane loves to trick necromancers and restore memories, among other tricks, he can just as easily cause you to forget small things from what two plus two is… To even your entire life.

short history; Little is really known of where Belgaer came from, among the other original nine, though after the binding of the Destroyer did the free magic being give itself to build the charter and become on of the voices with in the fifth prescient of Death, that is, if a necromancer has the knowledge of how to create the bell. But since the fifth bell, Belgaer, hadn’t taken all of the free magic being, what was left was left to wander in a form of it’s choice, this just happening to be the swift fox; Bane.

Bane has only few memories of what happened in the binding, or after with the building of the charter, but ever since then has he kept well away from all of the respected families, especially that of the Abhorsen. He doesn’t really understand why he had, but ever since the fall of the royal family back in the ages past, he didn’t keep up with it too much, only appearing once in a great while to make sure Mogget hadn’t run off, though he’d much rather have left that to Sareneth or, better yet, one far closer to home, but since she was locked away…

Being a trickster has it’s perks, when the families fell for a second time, the little fox didn’t think much of it… Until the charter started failing. Since then, it’s been a constant search to try and figure out what happened.

    miscellaneous;
He likes to pounce. Pouncing is fun!
He will only ride around the shoulders of those he likes, free rides are not tolerated.
Bane isn’t one to be pet, but once he trusts you, he might tolerate it, if not, you can expect a hand lacerated with small, razor like fangs.

    color; Dark blue

position; Fifth of the Nine Bright Shiners, Belgaer.
