o1. Literacy is a must. I understand typos and writer's block, but do your best to avoid one-liners. Chat speak is also not acceptable. Come on people, literacy is not that hard!

o3. This is a longterm roleplay. Do not join and then never post, or only post once. If you are going to be leaving for a long period of time, let me know. But honestly - if you want to quit, just let me know!
o4. No godmodding or powerplaying. That should go without saying. >.>
o5. I am God! Yes, I know it looks like a lot but these rules are actually pretty easy to follow! Common sense is not a hard concept to wrap your mind around.
o6. Swear sparingly. Yes, it's allowed - I use that quite liberally in my first post. If your character is frustrated beyond belief, I don't care if you swear. Just don't do it all the time.

Plot
Springime has arrived. Highschoolers and Alumni alike are preparing for the grand three-day Sakura Blossom Festival. On the first day the athletic events will be held; track, kendo, volleyball, and the like. The second day is for display and fundraising. There will be a few musical groups performing, and artwork will be displayed and sold. The third day is the best of all - the school play.
When an unlikely candidate stumbles upon the Sohma family curse a week before the Festival, will she be able to keep her mouth shut? Or will the star of the school play accidentally announce her news to the world on the third day of the Festival?

Personality: The girl next door; Kiyoko sees herself as more of friend material than girlfriend material, and sometimes this bothers her. But, as the saying goes, a woman needs a man as much as a fish needs bicycle. Her counterargument is that needing has nothing to do with wanting. Beyond her feminist and self-righteous beliefs, Kiyoko constantly keeps herself busy - she's a good student and is starring as Belle in the Sakura Blossom Festival. For the next few weeks she'll have no time on her hands, definitely not enough time to find the home she desperately needs since her own has burned down.
Bio: Kiyoko's father was an elementary school teacher before he died. Her mother is an airline attendant, so after her father's death, Kiyoko spent a lot of time traveling with her mother because she couldn't be left home alone for days at a time. Because her mother was working, she consequently had little time for her daughter - she tried, but she was busy woman trying to support the two of them. Kiyoko grew up very fast, and didn't have one place to call home other than Tokyo, where she was born. She lived, technically, all over the world as her mother's job shifted. When she turned fifteen, her mother purchased an apartment in Japan for the two of them. Kiyoko's mother still spends the majority of her time traveling, but Kiyoko is grown-up enough to take care of herself. A month or so ago, however, the apartment building burnt down, leaving Kiyoko with no place to go. She's been bouncing around close friends' for awhile, but hasn't found anything definite. She does not yet know about the Sohma curse.

Personality: Malicious and cruel, Taro retained none of the weaknesses of his female predecessor. He revels in pain, worships suffering. The most accurate description of the teenager is sadistic. When he gets into his moods, he has Mine bring in another of his slowly dwindling canary population so that he may drown it. Though not quite as fatal, Taro treats his Zodiac in a similar way.
Bio: Revered and hated at the same time. It's a difficult life to imagine. But not for Taro - he lived it everyday. His parents couldn't have been more daunted then when they discovered their first and only child had aquired the role of the God in the Sohma family curse. They praised him, for his sake, but he had always seen through their lie. He could hear them crying at night long after they believed him to be asleep. Taro just assumed that they would continue the facade until his early and inevitable death. When he was eleven, however, his mother sunk into depression and killed herself. His father reacted by never looking at his son again. Though he was totally independent, Leiko took him under her care. It was she who first introduced him to Mine, who now serves him loyally.

Other: Because of his frozen heart, Taro is completely unaware of Mine's feelings and affections towards him, though out of dramatic irony she makes them totally obvious.

Personality: Resident tough guy, Jiro is a showoff and a flirt. He's cocky and proud, and doesn't know how to say no: to a dare or to a girl. Past his cool and egotistical exterior, though, Jiro can be soft and sweet (though this rarely happens). He's much happier in a competition, let it be a volleyball game or who can be the first one to finish a test.
Bio: Needless to say, Jiro's parents were horrified when they discovered they had given birth to the Cat of the Chinese Zodiac. They tried to be home least often as possible, and even when they were around, they rarely talked to Jiro. They usually just talked about him around him. His self esteem was quite lacking as he grew up. In middle school, he got into a fight with one of his classmates. Both boys were badly hurt and suspended. Leiko stepped in on Jiro's behalf and sent him to live with Cho, where he's been residing ever since. He was quite angry and spiteful when Riki was sent there as well. The two don't get along well.

Personality: The epitome of kindess, Riki is gentlemanly and chivalrous. Though he doesn't knightly place women on a pedestal, he raises them above equality. He's sweet and romantic, and the object of the affections of the majority of the girls at his high school. And even though he works so well under pressure, Riki prefers to avoid the spotlight - that's the reason he opted to direct rather than to act in the school's play of Beauty and the Beast. Otherwise the overwhelming vote would have forced him into the role of the Prince he is.
Bio: Once Riki was born, his parents figuratively abandoned him for the luxurious lifestyle of being the Rat's parents. He was left under the combined care of Leiko and Taro. Whereas Leiko - though unemotional to say the least - at least took care of his basic needs, Taro destroyed Riki to a strong extent until the Rat felt like less than nothing in the God's prescence. When he was fourteen, Taro pushed Riki through a wall, breaking his arm and two of his ribs. Cho then stepped in, taking the Rat under her own wing outside of the Sohma home.

Other: When he was younger, Riki stole a bottle of bleach from his mother and dyed his hair platinum blonde. It wouldn't wash out so he had to wait almost two-years for his slow-growing hair to grow out.

Zodiac: Rooster
Personality: Silent. Only members of the Zodiac know for sure she isn't mute. Though she appears emotionless and apathetic, her true nature is total submission to the God. Despite his dark personality, she sees herself as the only one to give him any respect; she loves him. Though her wall of superiority is strong around the other Zodiacs, she will fall it in order to defend Taro. These actions seperate her from the others; they look down upon her and she looks down upon them.
Bio: Mine never knew her father; she doubts her mother ever knew who her father was either. As a toddler, she was relatively normal: happy, intellegent, nothing to complain about. Until she began to get close to Taro. The God reeled her in, understanding and manipulating her until she was nothing but putty in his hands. She, of course, didn't see it that way. She began to withdraw. Her mother, though rarely home, soon noticed the changes in her daughter. Not after Mine stopped speaking, her mother disappeared. Now she solely lives for and through Taro.

Personality: Haughy and confident, Cho is the kind of girl that when she falls in love, she falls hard. Since they were in middle school, Cho had a huge a crush on Sohma Akira, and even if he is oblivious about it - she doesn't know if he knows or not - she's not going to let ten years of coming up with nothing push her away. Like Yumi, when Cho starts something, she doesn't give up until it's finished. Sure, it might be a half-assed job but in her eyes it's done. She's also a procrastinator.
Bio: Cho is one of the few Sohmas who live off of Sohma property. As a child, she was abused by her father, and her mother was too afraid or apathetic to intervene and protect her daughter. She ran away from home when she was twelve - but she only got as far as Akira's house. She grew up in his home after that, a sister to both him and Kiyoshi. Even under the house of her friend, she was a rebellious teen - that's when she got her tattoo and her ears triple pierced. She isn't tame, for sure. Now she lives a few miles from the Sohma house with Jiro and Riki, and her house also gives temporary refuge to other Sohmas.

Personality: At first appearance, Botan seems to be a reserved, calm, and tranquil guy. He suffers from spurts of energy, and inspirational ideas that will hit him at the strangest time. For example.. He'll be talking to one of his clients in his office, and suddenly his face will light up, he'll go off on a tangent, forget about the poor girl, and start typing madly into his computer. He's predictably inpredictable.
Bio: Botan has a twin brother, and the two co-own a agency that find and back young and promising singers. Their company is small at the moment, but he foresees it's growth - especially with the dedicated Haruko working as an intern below he and his brother. Botan doesn't have a spectacular or tear-jerking history. He grew up with his brother and his parents, both of whom who had been rather old when their sons were born. Both are dead now. Botan lives in an apartment with his brother in the center of Tokyo, but visits the Main House as often as he can.

Personality: All-encompassing, Akira is the resident therapist in the Sohma house. He's very understanding, and his knowledge of the human mind gives him an edge over some of the other go-to's. Akira has no angry side, and no quiet side, though compared to his two best friends, Botan and Cho, he's very shy. Open and with a good sense of humor, Akira can be thought of as the unchanging rock that holds the family together. He makes it his business to know everything about everyone - who Haruko is crushing on, what artist Kiyoshi is admiring, what Aiko's favorite TV show is.
Bio: Since they were all born around the same time, Akira is close friends with the Dog and the Snake, Cho and Botan. Of the three, he's the mature one, doing his best to keep his friends out of trouble. Six years ago, the joking philanthropist was cut off as he became his brother's, Kiyoshi, father when their parents, as well as Kano's parents, were killed in a fatal car accident. Tragic as it was, Akira remained the same cheerful nothing's-going-to-keep-me-down go-getter.

Personality: Over-the-top, Dai matches Yumi with her dramatic mood swings. Also, Dai is very chivalrous; he loves to play the hero and is quite overprotective of all the girls he knows, including Aiko who is slowly becoming dependent on him. He's good natured, and loves to and is good at making people smile.
Bio: Dai's mother is a famous singer and his father is a Sohma. He lives at the Sohma house with his father, who spends a lot of time away from home, making ends meet while his mother is on constant tour, trying to save her dying reputation. He's a pretty independent child, lacking the nurturing and overprotective parents. In turn, he's turned around and acts that way to all the girls he knows. Instead of being annoying, though, it's quite cute.

Personality: Bubbly, hyperactive and unpredictable do not begin to categorize Haruko's endless fountain of energy. She's quite immature for her age although - believe it or not - she can be serious when the situation demands it. More often than not, though, Haruko is the member of the group who has created, used, and abused the spotlight.
Bio: Her inability to control her overactive imagination got her held back a year, so Haruko is a Senior in high school. She really tries to focus, but the way she sees it is that there are so many more interesting things in life than schoolwork. Her parents are divorced - not because of her, surprinsingly. Her mother lives in Southern Japan, and Haruko (an only child) visits her occasionally. Otherwise, though, she lives at the Sohma Main House with her scientist father.

Personality: Unlike Hatsuharu and the long line of Sohma Oxen before him, Kano was born lacking the double-edged personality categorized by 'White' and 'Black' Sides. Kano skirts on the fence of Black, though he is rather sweet and romantic towards Yumi. Kano is a sarcastic know-it-all, and he excels in pranks and mischeviousness. He can't keep still for a long period of time, and has a difficult time being seen and not heard.
Bio: Like other Sohmas, Kano has a borderline tragic past. And like other Sohmas, he has risen above them and erupted into the annoying Kano he is in high school. His parents and the parents of the Zodiac members Akira and Kiyoshi had been driving home from a dinner out when the car they were traveling in was hit by a public bus. None survived, orphaning all three young boys. Kano had always been an emotional child, but the tragedy shut him up quick. That year, he began running on his school's track team. Running was his release, and it helped him relieve the sorrow he couldn't talk about. Now he's returned to his old immature self, due in part to his love of track.

Personality: Naive, gentle, and happy-go-lucky are all perfect words to describe Yumi. She's over-emotional, melodramatic, and has a thing for dangerous boys. Yumi never breaks a promise, and is recognized for her honesty. When she starts something, she never quits until she's acheived the final, highest goal: she's a never-give-up over-achiever.
Bio: Unlikely in a Sohma family, Yumi is the middle child of five - and yet the only Zodiac among them all. She, her parents, her two older brothers, one younger brother, and one younger sister live off of but very near Sohma property. She's been very supportive of both Kano's running and his past; her ability to forgive and forget has slowly rubbed off on him, bringing them closer together. They've been dating for awhile, but they're trying to keep it a close-knit secret so that there's no chance of Taro discovering them.

Personality: Blunt and always speaks her mind. Rash, stubborn, and with only a soft spot for her sister, Leiko is feared for her iron fist and admired for her lack of fear of the God. She's very self-centered, and she can find fault within everyone - that is of course, except for Aiko. While she shows the world an in-control and capable being, she is truthfully a merciless, thrifty businesswoman who talks to much.
Bio: Leiko became Taro's surrogate mother when he became 'orphaned' almost ten years ago. It was unexpected, clearly, because the other Zodiac figured her daunting attitude would be ill-recieved with their God. Rather, she nurtured him kindly, giving him the rare smiles that she usually reserved for her withdrawn sister. Because of her genorisity, Leiko has never been abused by the God. Her actions have also prevented Aiko from being the victim of his temper tantrums as well. Whereas Mine is simply his lackey, Leiko is the only Zodiac who truly understands Taro.

Personality: Quiet, shy, and in need of protection, Aiko is surrounded by those willing to savor her childlike nature. She'll talk to Leiko and Dai unafraid, but she'll clam up even around other Sohmas. Occasionally, they can bring out her sweet and melodic voice but she does take coaxing.
Bio: While she still lived with her parents, Aiko rarely reacted to whatever they threw her way, preferring to talk to herself alone in her bedroom than play a card or board game with her parents. Leiko effectively rescued her little sister soon after her parents began to ignore her, and Aiko treats Leiko like her own 'God'. In the thirteen-year-old's eyes, Leiko is the best thing since sliced bread. And right after Sohma Dai, of course.

Personality: Effimate in all ways, Kiyoshi is the subject of resent at his school for his personality and the ways he looks and dresses. Whereas his brother dealt with their parents' death easily, Kiyoshi reacted by rejecting everything about himself. He's very shy around people he doesn't know well, but can be quite friendly with other Zodiac members. Like his brother, he doesn't know how to be angry, but he has felt the sharp stab of pain before.
Bio: Six years ago Kiyoshi was orphaned when his parents, as well of the parents of the Ox, Kano, were thrust into a fatal car accident. His brother, Akira, took care of him after that. Kiyoshi sunk into depression soon after, a malady his brother was all too ready to medically cure - Kiyoshi felt physically better but mentally he was caught in a rut. A lot of time spent with family - mostly Akira and his friends - helped, but Kiyoshi doubts the sorrow he felt directly after his parents' death will ever ebb away, let alone lessen.
