"Dear Journal,
I've made a facinating discovery while on my trip around the world. While stopped in Egypt, I took the time to explore the pyramids like any good tourist. Like a bad tourist, I managed to get seperated from the tour group --accidentally of course!-- and in that time, I found what would be one of the greatest creatures I've ever seen.
As I was examining some of the old paintings of the cats that the ancient Egyptians held in such high esteem, something odd happened. It looked like something was climbining out of the painting! I stepped back, out of the way, and the creature emerged; a beautiful, colorful cat in gold plated jewelry. She looked up and considered my presence, which was frightening, as she was much larger than a normal housecat, but apparently she decided I was a friend, not an enemy. Purring, she rubbed against my legs, before darting away again, through the wall.
I wasn't sure if I had seen right. Had I imagined the cat? Or had she really run through a wall? With a quick look around, not wanting to be seen, I decided the only way to know was to touch the ancient wall. And so I did.
My fingers went right through it. I was amazed! Surely someone had to have known the wall was only an illusion, right? Could I be the first one? Knowing the wall was fake, I had to continue, and I stepped through the wall to see a beautiful, vast stretch of desert with the largest oasis I'd ever seen. The cat was louging in the sun by the bank, and she wasn't the only one; everywhere, these large, beautiful cats were sleeping, playing, and enjoying the bright sun.
As they noticed me, to my surprise they all began to purr in happiness. Some of the kittens ran over to bat at my hair and clothes, wanting me to join in playing with them. How could I refuse? So I spent the day playing with the kittens and babies and admiring the adults.
Then, to my surprise, I began to hear voices. Has someone else discovered the wall? No, even stranger; the
cats were speaking to me! In my mind, I could hear their voices clearly, and they began to tell me their story. The beautiful female cat that had greeted me in the pyramid soon told me her name was Carnation, a name I was surprised to hear, as it was certainly not the exotic name I would have expected. She told me they had been living there in their sanctuary, waiting for the time they were meant to leave and live among the humans, when they would be respected and cared for the way the goddess Bast wanted.
They told me legends of their elders, of the strange coated 'special' Kitties, and of the legendary cats blessed by the great mother goddess Isis. I listened to all of it intently, wanting to know more about these creatures. They told me they had no name for themselves, and so I said the first thing that came into my mind, 'Egypt Kitties.' Carnation laughed, but she seemed to like it, as did all the others, and so Egypt Kitties it was. They told me I was the one they had been waiting for, and that now, the stories said I would be the one to find them homes with people who would love and treasure them. I couldn't refuse them, and so, I am going to start a shop where people can adopt these beautiful Egypt Kitties.
But last, and most amazing to me, Carnation insisted that she stay with me. She said she had chosen me, and I had chosen her, and we were meant to live together. I certainly wasn't going to argue with her, and now she lays beside me on the sand as I write this. Tomorrow, I will begin the search for people to meet and adopt their own Egypt Kitties, so that all of the cats can be loved."
