Hello newbies of Gaia! My name is brb_suicide, but eeryone calls me Keri, so feel free! I've been thinking of you poor little fellows and thought 'Oh those poor newbies, they are so lost and missunderstood. They are bullied by most but they jsut need some help.' So I decided to make A Newbie's Guide to Gaia! It's a branch off my threds called .:Can You Say Karama:. which was based off of a converstion with IamMe135odd aka Brooke aka my Gaia-wife (so hands off).
There are just a few basic things you need to know about Gaia:
1. Security.
2. Earning Gold.
3. How to make your avi look oh-so fabulous with out loosing too much gold!
So I'm here to teach you how, so let's get started!

Now, I know what you're thinking 'But Keri isn't looking awesome going to cost allot ofgold?!' What?! Who told you that?! BAD NEWB! BAD!
Hoohoh, NO. That is a lie! Now, I've tried to make some spffy avis on www.tektek.org/dream (amazing place for everyone, new and old) but, they may not sute your fancy. So if you want I should make you one - FOR FREE MIND YOU - just PM me with these egsact words:

Earning gold is the single most important thing on Gaia (closly followed by making friends and keeping your password safe). And I'm here to tell you how to do it fast.

1. Before you even think about making a nice-looking avi, you need to save up 1,5oo gold to buy a Tradeing Pass and a Vending Licence.
2. Buy the stuff to make your avi look nice.
3. Sell the stuff you got in you starter pack (unless you want to keep them).
4. Buy the 'monthly collectables' and sell the extras. They normally go for around 8-1o thousand gold.
5. Buy items in the Marketplace, then sell them again. Now I know your thinking 'What a waste!' but you're supposed to sell them for roughly 1oo more gold then what you bought it for. It's a hard way to make allot of gold fast, but it works.
6. Do quizzes in the Chatterbox.
7. Join Giveaways.

There are MANY ways to keep your password safe, and many ways to loose it. I'll try and cover all of them.

- Use a secure password. A secure password is a combo of letters and numbers, caps and lowercase. Use an exclusive password. Do not use this password for any other thing except Gaia. MSN, Hotmail, AIM, Yahoo, and other such web sites/programs are notoriously easy to hack, and if your password and username are the same, your Gaia account is compromised. Do not use autologin. Autologin means that anyone who sits down at your PC and points your browser at Gaia will log into your account. Although they can't trade your inventory away, they can sell it back to the store without knowing your password (or post TOS violating things as you to get you banned). Do NOT post your email on the site. Making your email public on Gaia is an invitation for someone to try and hack your email to be able to retrieve your password through the "lost password" function on the site. Many Gaia hackings occur this way. Do not Share your Password. Never share your password with anyone, ever, for any reason whatsoever. There is zero reason for them to know your password. Let them make their own account. Gaia, its admin, and its mods will never ask you for your password for any reason, EVER.

Hacked But Have Account Access

If you have been hacked but are able to access your account, please do the following:

1. If you are able to, immediately change your password and put in a new (functioning) email address. You can make an instant email at yahoo, hotmail, or netscape for this purpose. This is in case your email was compromised.
2. Take stock of what items and gold you believe are missing from your inventory.
3. Go to Community - Trade, and review the Pending trades on that page.
4. Review the Completed Trades at the bottom. If you see any trades you do NOT remember conducting take note of the name(s) of the receiver(s) of those trades.
5. Click Community, then forums in the header on any page.
6. Scroll to the bottom of the forum index page and click on the "Report a Hacking" link.
7. Fill in the Username of the Account that was hacked, the email address which the account was registered to, an estimation of when it happened, a list of friends on Gaia whom you know in real life, the Gaia names of any Gaian who shares your computer, all of your mule (Secondary) account names, all the items you are missing, and any additional notes. This last section of the form is where you would place info such as who the unknown trade went to, whether you've been contacted via IM, Email, or PM and asked for your password by anyone, etc.
8. Patiently wait for a resolution, this may take days or weeks to investigate. Please be aware that Gaia is not responsible for any items lost to not properly securing your account. They are only responsible if Gaia's coding allowed someone to actually hack you. Tricking you into letting them into your account isn't actually hacking. It's really scamming, but for Gaia purposes we refer to it as a hack and something else entirely falls under scams. Please also note that reporting your pal for hacking you will result in their account being banned, making your items inaccessible. You may wish to attempt to persuade them to return your things first.

Hacked and Cannot Access Account

If you have been hacked and the hacker changed your password, preventing you from logging into your account, please do the following:

1. Create a mule account.
2. Use mule account to follow steps 5-8 of the prior section.
