Welcome to Gaia! ::

This is the world of Ivalice. Though the affairs of the humes (humans) are in turmoil, as so often happens, beneath the branches of the Wood - known to humans as the Golmore Jungle - there is a serene peace that the outside world barely disturbs. That is the way of the reclusive viera race, who dwell within the Wood in many enclaves, including Eruyt Village. Kjrn is a young viera by their standards, and according to the hidebound elders, one who dreams a bit too much... but not quite enough to forsake viera culture and leave the Wood altogether. She spends her days among the forest creatures, waiting eagerly to hear from each traveler that comes by - and hoping that imparting friendly creatures to those who come by might make them think more kindly of the Wood. An Important Note: This thread is based on Final Fantasy XII. As such, it contains minor spoilers for creatures in the game, and the nature of a few locations. There are, however, no story spoilers. At this time, please be sure and note and obscure all story and other spoilers for the game in the tiniest of tiny text if you must speak of them. Thank you! The other two pots are basic cactoids, and will be colored in shades of green only, with the winner's choice of basic markings and preference of which kind of greens they'd like. Currently two varieties of creatures are available: Festive Cactoids and Festive Chickatrices. Both are only available as the Secret Santa gifts of the owners ^_^ Later on, we'll open up for all species. Right now development is slow as Kali's computer is dead, and she's the wonderful lineartist. D: But once that's fixed, we'll be going full-speed ahead! Pricing in flatsales will be as follows: - dreamhares (rank 1), cactoids, cockatrices: 5k - dreamhares rank 2 (four feathers): 8k - dreamhares rank 3 (six feathers): 10k - unclothed moogles: 5k - clothed moogles: 10k - mimic-moogles: to be determined. This is the Wood. You humes may know it as Golmore Jungle, but to we viera, She bears a different name. We dwell under Her branches, and live our lives governed by Her Word. Everything about a viera's very existence is meant to circle through the leaves and the breath of the Wood. Some viera, driven by I know not what, leave the Wood for the changing and violent world of the humes and other races of Ivalice. I, Kjrn... I am curious, I hunger... but I am not so brave. I listen to the tales of fair far-off Rabanastre, and the bright sky-city of Bhujerba, even the lofty dwellings of Archades. I have them from every traveler who ventures into the Wood. But no, I am not so brave, nor so foolish. Not yet. Yet still, I am more open to humes than most of my people. Those who seek entry into Eruyt Village are turned away, but I still lurk along the edges of the Wood, always under Her shadow, to see those who enter. Those who will be forced away by our magic, in the end. Perhaps some kinship is possible between our worlds. The elders do not know this. But I speak with the forest creatures, and the humes, bangaa, seeq, and nou mou who come below the branches. And I send those who would go, the little emissaries of the Wood, out into the world. Some of the travelers are confused at my offerings, at the creatures that gather - they're looking for treasure, they say, not animals. I say they are foolish. Here is the bounty of the Wood, the treasures of Ivalice. What of you, traveler? Will you treat with me? ~ Kjrn of the Wood
Ah, the dreamhares; fairest flowers of the Wood! They roam far across Ivalice, all the way north to the Salikawood. It is believed that to see a dreamhare is to bring good fortune - how much more so, if you kept one under your gentle care? The quality of a dreamhare's rank can be told by the number of its feathers - normally they bear but two, though exquisite high-rank dreamhares may have up to six! Truly a spectacular sight. [growth stages] Dreamhares have three growth stages: fluffball, baby, and adult. They may breed, and do so quite enthusiastically when allowed... [more information on ranks]
Such strange, clucking beasts... no, goodness no, they aren't chocobos! These, traveller, are cockatrices - fearsome beasts in the wild, but these are quite tame. You see, one day a cockatrice from the Giza Plains dropped by for a visit, heavy with egg... and so I came to obtain my own small flock. Yes, yes, they are perfectly tame, I assure you! Raise them from the egg, and see for yourself! They may be rambunctious, but raise the wee chickatrice up into a cockatrice, and they will be your loyal defenders. [growth stages] Cockatrices have three stages: egg, chickatrice, and adult cockatrice. They may breed, hatching small clutches of eggs. [more information] [the feather of the flock]
For our guests who are not sold on our cute, soft dreamhares, we have something a bit more... prickly... in nature. A pot? Why no, honoured visitor, this is no mere pot! This is a cactoid - a spined plant-like creature. They grow to all sizes, and with luck and hard work, may even attain an elder state of great magnificence indeed! Sometimes, a few rare cactoids will provide their own decoration with a flower on their heads. Unlike many varieties of cactus-beast, the cactoid is friendly and curious, though they are primarily social among their own kind. As to why they are here in the Wood instead of in their homeland, the Dalmasca Estersand? Even I am not sure of that. Perhaps you should obtain one and ask. [stages of growth] Cactoids have three stages: bud in a pot, adult, and elder. The elder stages is exceedingly rare, however... They can breed, although we're not quite sure of the mechanics - let's just call it pollination and be done with it. [further information]
Ah, the moogles - bright stars of Ivalice they are, one of the most clever of races! Sadly, they are small, and even worse, cute - so they are often maligned by those who don't know their skill as craftsmoogles. Why, moogles built most of the great sky-city of Bhujerba, I hear! These moogles, mind, are not pets. Though they are small in size, they are fully grown and can speak and act as well - or better! - than any hume. They are also excellent for those needing a bit of assistance with their menageries, or in any other aspect of their lives. With a bit of gil, you can easily hire a bold young moogle! There are two basic types of moogles: Craftsmoogles; those moogles inclined towards skill and hard work, eager to be hired and to work well as part of their employer's family. The vast majority of moogles are this type. Moogle-Mimics; a strain of moogles a bit odd in the head, perhaps from an overdose of Mist? Needless to say, they aren't quite right - and consequently believe themselves to be well-known humes and other characters, down to their names, actions, and dress! What do they call it... cosplay? [examples] Moogles have one stage only; they cannot breed at this time.

Ah, but none of the current creatures satisfy your exotic tastes? Not to worry. For an increased sum, we can hunt for creatures to match your exact specifications. There isn't much that can't be found in the Woods, after all. There are a limitless variety of colours and patterns to be found. Alas, for those of you who are fond of dressing your pets up, I fear our usual animals are not for you. Perhaps a moogle, already fond of clothing, is more to your tastes? We are more than willing to run an advertisement to locate a moogle whose fashion sense meets with your approval, or even a curious Mimic-Moogle for those desiring something more elaborate. Let us see what our Hunters are currently doing, shall we? Customs can be obtained for all creatures: - Dreamhare; rank one (two-feathers) - Dreamhare; rank two (four-feathers) - Dreamhare; rank three (six-feathers) - Cockatrice - Cactoid - Cactoid; flowering - Moogle; basic craftsmoogle, no clothing - Moogle; basic craftsmoogle, clothed - Mimic-Moogle; cosplay Note that only Mimic-Moogles will cosplay. In IC-terms, the Mimic-Moogles are a little nutters in the head; they actually believe they're the characters they're dressed up as, to the extent of answering to the same name and cultivating similar personalities and mannerisms. They are tolerated (usually) in a friendly fashion by those around them, regarded as an odd curiosity that needs to be watched a bit closer than most. Mimic-Moogles can be made to cosplay characters from any canon, not just Final Fantasy; however, be advised that they remain moogles at heart and will always bear the common moogle features underneath their clothes. Mimic-Moogles are also limited by the world they inhabit - they will not come with any accessories that exceed the current level of technology available in Ivalice. Reserved Mimic-Moogle Concepts: - Any major characters from the games pertaining to Ivalice: Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Vagrant Story, and Final Fantasy XII. - Balthier and Larsa from FFXII are reserved for Sosiqui and kalindara, respectively.
