Welcome to Gaia! ::

User Image

Just like any other charity, we hope you’ll take the time to read through the all-important first page, especially the rules section, before posting and/or applying.

As the name suggests, Sunday is an important day for everyone involved. The charity will still be alive throughout the week, but Sunday will be when all of the fun stuff happens. See, throughout the week, applications will be accepted and reviewed, and then on Sunday the chosen ones will be donated to. Rivae, Nirvei and A e o n will do their best to frequently hold contests, and again, throughout the week users can try their hand at the contests, and on Sunday the winners will be decided.

Out off all the days, why choose Sunday? Throughout the week Rivae, Nirvei and A e o n work – yet what they all have in common is Sunday, when none of them have to work. What better day is there to devote time to something you love, in this case charity, then a day when you can do so fully. With that said, Welcome to ‘The Sunday Charity’ – and we hope you enjoy your stay!

Guidelines to follow while in the thread.

  • Please always abide by Gaia's TOS and Rules at all times. Failure to do so will more than likely result in one, or all, of TSC's staff asking you to leave the thread. If you're not sure where to find the Terms Of Service or Rules & Guidelines, please scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the corresponding links to take a peek at each!

  • Please use literacy when posting. It's always appreciated when people exercise their knowledge of good grammar. Chatspeak is frowned upon as it's hard to read, is sloppy, and is just generally irritating. Speaking in the charity using chatspeak, 1337, or anything of the sort is not recommended.

  • Feel free to bump, but conversation is preferred. If you're not big on conversation starters, here are a few that you can expand on: art (all of TSC's staff love art), music (again, all love music), and sports (A e o n especially likes hockey -- go Canucks!).

  • Please keep the quote chains to a minimum. Quoting a couple of times is fine, but you will be asked to edit your post if it looks excessive in size. Use discretion when you think a post might be too large in size.

  • Please do not flame other members. If someone comes in and begins to beg for gold or post spam, please refrain from flaming them. Report begging to me (Victorea) if none of the charity's staff are online, and report any post containing obvious spam using the "Report This Post" button.

  • Do not PM us with help requests. This is a charity, so if it's gold you want, feel free to fill out a form for a donation, or join one of the contests here if you do not yet meet our requirements. You may, however, feel free to contact me (Victorea) if you wish to affiliate with the charity, have the charity or its staff attend an event, etc.

  • Understand our right to edit these rules. Something that is not here today could be added tomorrow. We are only human! A rule, after being overlooked, may be brought to our attention and added to this section later on.

Please keep these rules in mind while you are here, and feel free to point out this section to anyone who you feel may be breaking or ignoring them. Again, if that happens, report the situation to the staff of the charity first (including the mule, if it is online). If the problem persists, we will see to it that a moderator is contacted to deal with the offender.

We intend for this to be a place where people can hang out, have fun, and get involved. Please do your best to help make this a fun environment for everyone!

How to get a donation, and common questions answered.

  • How do I know if I qualify for a donation?
In order to qualify for a donation, we ask that you meet a number of requirements. Why? This is so we have proof that you are working hard towards achieving your item or items. The requirements are listed below. If you fail to meet them, unfortunately you will be ineligible to receive a donation. You may, however, come back after meeting the qualifications. Also, if you're unsure as to whether or not you qualify, ask us!

  • How do I know if I will receive a donation?
We will consider everyone open-mindedly when going through the applications. We do appreciate those who have organized quest threads, a clear goal in mind, and one or two items that they're well on their way to obtaining. If you've slapped together a million different items, your chances of receiving donations may go down. Commons are okay, but questing for five '03 items and only having one percent of the funds toward your quest will decrease your chances of receiving a donation from us.

  • What happens if I apply and don't receive a donation?
Sometimes we receive a lot of applications and can't donate to everyone. If you apply and don't receive a donation on Sunday, you're welcome to stick around the charity, continue to interact with everyone, and re-apply for the next week.

  • I know someone who's questing, and want to apply on their behalf.
If you've got a friend who is working very hard for an item and you think they deserve something for their time, by all means apply for them! You'll still need to fill out the form, but instead of putting your username in the "Name" spot, put theirs. Like all other questers, your friend must first qualify for a donation. We enjoy seeing people help others, and would love to be involved in a bit of a friendly surprise!

  • The requirements for receiving a donation are as follows:
You must have more than five hundred posts.
You must be at least one month old as a Gaian.
You must have at least fifteen percent of the funds towards your goal.
    Your quest thread must:
. . . Have at least twenty pages.
      . . . Be organized.
      . . . Contain images and/or color.
. . . Have at least four different posts on the first page. (ex. intro/progress/donations/linklist)
You must post at least five times in the charity (conversation is preferred over bumping) before posting your form.

And finally, here's the form to apply for a donation!

    *The Quote Contest!
    See the three locks below?
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Each of these locks has a corresponding key that will unlock a certain amount of gold. You won't know how much you get until it's announced! I, Victorea, or any one of the charity's staff may post a key at any random time, and the first person to quote the key with the words, "I found the lost key!" will win the prize behind the corresponding lock!

    *The Page Number Contest!
We'll offer a reward of 1,000g to a random poster on every one hundredth page. This gives more than one person a chance to win the prize!

    *The Profile Raffle!
This is a bi-weekly event where we'll be raffling off a profile made by our very own Nirvei! There are twenty slots, and each slot costs 1,000g. This will help us keep the charity going, and it'll help you get a high-quality profile for cheap! We've set a limit on the slots: any one person may have up to five slots maximum. If you are found to be using a mule to buy more slots, you will be disqualified and your gold will not be returned. This needs to be done to stop cheaters from gaining an unfair advantage!

To buy anywhere from one to five slots, please send a trade for 1,000g per slot to Victorea with the subject "Slots - (how many slots you want)." The winner for this draw will be picked by Randomizer on December 3rd, 2006.

We have a lot of contests in mind, and as some will finish, others will start! Keep an eye out for new contests -- an announcement will me made in the news post when something new comes up!

Feeling Innovative?
We'd like to welcome suggestions for new, original contests. If you've got an idea that you think we should know about, tell us about it! PM me with your idea (make sure the topic is relevant to what you are PMing us about), and if the charity's staff like your concept, I'll reply and ask you to follow up on it. Not everyone will be replied to, but don't let this discourage you. We'll all do our best to consider everything! If we end up using your contest idea, you'll be rewarded with a lump sum of 5,000g!

The charity's staff do not expect everyone to bow down to them and offer them gifts as if they're some kind of gods that must be worshipped -- but they do love presents! They appreciate gifts of all kinds, so please don't hesitate to send stuff to them through me! Art, banners and poetry will automatically be considered gifts, but if you'd like to send some items over to me, please specify in the trade whether it's for me to dress up with or for charity funds. Just refer to it either as "gift" or "donation" and I'll take care of the rest. Thank you so much!

Who we are, why we're here.

    Nirvei
    Name: Teresa [tUh-deh-sa / tuh-dez-a]
    Age: 18
    Occupation: See bio.
Favorite Food: Peaches, Strawberries, Blackberries, Cacciucco alla Livornese, Pasta, Chinnotto, Tiramisu, Mandu, and Kim-Bop.
Favorite Music: I'm a lover of music and like pretty much everything except; Rap, pop, and hip-hop. I listen to everything from Death Metal to Opera. I like way too many bands but to name just a few!

Bio: I’m Nirvei. Why? Because Nirvei means “Child of Water”, and I grew up by the sea. Why am I here? It all began one day in 04 when I was still new and green to Gaia. I had left my beloved chatterbox for the first time and entered the charity forum. I came across a thread ran by Kenshin and a friend of his – and had been lurking. It seemed like he was having a bad day, and I figured somebody as nice as him should be happy. After all he makes everybody else happy. So… I spammed the hell out of him with donations and almost killed him! Ever since I’ve had a special place for the charity forum in my heart and am proud to call it my home. It has given me something that pixelated gold and items could never give. The friendship of two very special people to me, Kenshin and soon after Rivae. My offline life is a tad hectic, I work at a Nursing home as an Assist with my mom in the mornings and a Tattoo parlor in the evenings, AND then, I make time for art commissions. Two of my greatest passions are art and literature. I am hardly found without a pencil and pad of paper in my pocket or a book in my hand. I’m also a closet historian - one of my biggest passions is Celtic history and mythology [Mmm… Kilts…].

    Rivae
    Name: Dani
    Age: 18
    Occupation: See bio.
Favourite Food: Italian, and DQ Blizzard Treats.
Favourite Music: I really have a lot of favorite music, so it always changes. I've recently been listening to John Mayer, KT Tunstall, and music from the Rurouni Kenshin and Naruto soundtracks -- specifically, the opening and ending themes. <3

Bio: I'm Rivae. Why? Because I like unique names, and I like that combo of letters... so it worked out well for me. x] Why am I here? I honestly have no idea. I love questing for items, and I get excited thinking about working for something I'm going to enjoy. Maybe that's why I'm here, then -- granting something to someone that will make them experience those same good feelings is a pretty cool thing. And to do it with people I love completely maximizes the feelings of goodness obtained by doing this. <3 So. I'm here because I was born, and because I like giving stuff away. Offline, I'm working as a simple sales associate at an electronics store here in Canada, and it's working out for me so far. In my spare time, I enjoy Gaia (well, duh), Albatross18, tinkering around in Photoshop 7, and listening to music.

    A e o n
    Name: Stephen
    Age: 20
    Occupation: See bio.
Favourite Food: Lasagne, though I haven't had it in a while.
Favourite Music: At the moment, True Light by Miyamoto Shunichi. (The version on his CD is the best one.) I also like Nightwish and Blackmore's Night, and other various anime music.

Bio: I'm A e o n. Why? Because it's a purdy name, and because I'm a Final Fantasy fan. Why am I here? I've been involved in a few different charities over the past couple of years, and it's something I've always enjoyed doing. However, I've recently found myself getting more and more disinterested in Gaia. I thought that being a part of a new charity with two of the people I'm closest to - Nirvei, a long time friend and former charity partner; and Rivae, also a former charity partner, but more importantly, my love - would help me be more active on Gaia. I'm currently employed full-time at a small, family-owned grocery store. It's pretty basic work, but it's friendly and the people are nice, so I'm happy there. My hobbies lately have included the recently released Final Fantasy 12 for PS2, Albatross18 for PC, and of course the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG, as I've always been a nerd fan of any card game involving strategy.

There you have it. Got any questions for TSC's staff members? Feel free to PM me, Victorea, with the subject "Question - (insert username of staff member)", and if the staff like your question, I might add it here with, of course, an answer! You'll also get 500g per answer added here!
