Holy crap, yay! This contest is finally starting! I have been saving up for months now. Jeez, I really have too much time on my hands, eh? I am pretty much only here thanks to the sheer awesome of Classical and Verdenda though. I owe them my sooooooul.

So… I want art of my characters. Simple as that. And you’re going to give it to me, right? Heck yeah that’s right! So what you’re going to do is read through all this stuff I am going to post (well, hopefully you’ll read it all, because that will definitely make your chances of winning a whole lot better) and then you will draw… and then you will share! Because sharing is caring!

Oh, and yeah, you could probably win something pretty swell, so that’s an added bonus! In case you are more curious about that, the grand prize is a Kiki Kitty (and y’know, even if you don’t want that, it’s worth about 119k as of writing this, and you can sell it!), and there is a total of 1 MILLION in pure gold for prize money! This contest is lasting for a pretty long time because... well, July 6th is my birthday! What better way to celebrate then getting a bunch of last minute entries of my characters? (Other than laser tag. Laser tag is the best birthday activity ever.)

Judging is not so much going to be based on your skill level, but more on how well you can portray my characters. If you are dead on with their personality and them-ness you have a way better chance of winning than if your picture is gorgeous but is totally out of character.

(Excluding Pretty Magical Boy Sanny because that cracks me up every time.)

What up, rule post? Everyone is going to be friends with you, aren’t they? I hope so, because you are a cool post and deserved to be listened to. Props, man.

1. NO. ART. THEFT. Seriously, if I find out you did not draw the picture, I am going to lay the smackdown on you. So don’t submit anything traced, eyeballed, stolen or generally NOT YOURS.

2. Be nice! This is a contest for winners, not for lamers. We can all be buddies, right? Hang out here a while, bump, and make some friends! Just don’t be mean, because then I will have to kick you in the face, and no one needs that.

3. It is cool to submit multiple entries! Not only is it awesome, it’s encouraged! That way you’ll have a better chance at winning a prize… or two! Or three! (Also, I obviously want a lot of art!) However, I’d rather not have art you have already drawn. Not that any of you have ever drawn my characters, I guess, but I’d like something new! But on the topic of winning more than one prize; one picture can only win one prize. So if you win ‘Best Sanford’ you can’t win ‘Best Traditional’ with the same picture. You can totally win it with another entry though!

4. If you have any questions: ask me! I am not going to bite you or anything! Have you noticed how many exclamation points I have used so far? I am PSYCHED. OH MAN. Oh, Author. You are trouble. From the very beginning I have had a strange amount of love for this character, and I just keep enjoying him more and more. He’s such a goof.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Full Name: “The Author” (also goes by Samuel Thwait, although it's not his real name)
Age: 21
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 165 lbs.
Job: Author. Duh.
Hobbies: Writing, watching (bad) movies, traveling, attempting to use the computer

Overall: A little on the lanky side. Not overweight, not overly muscular. However, years of smoking have caused him to be pretty much useless in the athletic department, and he cannot run for long without getting very tired.
Eyes: Bright turquoise. The pupils are keyhole shaped.
Hair: Mousy brown to black in the back. His bangs fall just short of covering his eyes, and the back is close-cut and short. Two long black strands fall over his ears and stop above his shoulders. They are not part of his bangs, but under them.
Clothing: Close-fitting t-shirts, longsleeved shirts. Often plain colours, but occasionally with stripes or sayings. Jeans (blue, khaki, black) are often worn, as well as dress slacks. He wears a black coat with a simple green checkered design on it. (There will be a cool dressup doll sometime soon!)
Accessories: Scarves are just about it. He never wears hats or jewelry of any kind. He is rarely ever seen without a cigarette. He wears big, black, steel-toed boots wherever he goes.
Extra: His ears are slightly pointed, and his canines are sharp. His nose is large and crooked from being broken several times. He has three tattoos: see the reference for those. There is one wrapping around his right arm to his chest, one on his hip, and another around his left ankle. The Author is rarely seen without a cigarette; pretty much the only time he doesn’t have one is when he’s sleeping.

Personality/History: The Author is really a bit of a mystery. Abandoned as a child at the Norsat Corporation, he grew up in the care of staff, not knowing who or what he was. Upon meeting Phoebe, and later Odin, he became very overprotective of his two friends, ending up with a reputation for being dangerous and un-co-operative, and constantly getting into fights. He was always disruptive or irritatingly silent, unless he was with Odin and Phoebe.

When Odin died his attitude drastically changed. He became incredibly friendly, outgoing and polite; a complete 180 from before. He is still overly loyal to anyone he takes the time to actually get to know, but that isn’t very many people. After Odin died he traveled aimlessly from place to place for 4 years, not staying in one place for more than a few days. He is always smiling, trying to make other people happy, and acting like he’s having a wonderful time. If he is ever left alone he mopes about and hides so no one sees him. But that’s not very often, and he absolutely refuses to let anyone see him unhappy, so don’t worry about him. He’s just stubborn! Generally, just think of him as a big happy dog.

Random Tidbits: He has a severe phobia of cars/trucks/buses/anything large that drives on the road.
He is allergic to cats, but loves them anyway.
His favourite food is strawberries, but he’ll eat just about anything.
He will never wear shorts. No real reason, he just hates them.

Relationships with other characters:
Sanford: The Author is very attached to Sanford. He dragged Sanford along after his house was destroyed, bringing him to Rondé Grunde. At first he flirted with Sanford as a joke, because he knew it annoyed him, but later became serious, much to Sanford's dismay.
Phoebe: Phoebe is The Author's oldest friend. He will do anything for her, and is very loyal. She is the only one who can tell him not to smoke and have him listen, and she doesn't put up with his crap.
14: The Author loves spending time with 14. He likes children, but only for a very short amount of time. Since 14 is a child but has the intelligence of an adult, he enjoys being around her.
Odin: Odin was one of The Author's best and only friends for many years. He spent a lot of time with him, even when he was sick. He was absolutely devastated when Odin died.

Sanny! Y’know, Sanford started out as just some random kid? There was no intention of him ever being developed or anything (…don’t tell him that.) but he did! And now he’s another one of my favourites. He’s not very co-operative, but hopefully you can manage.


CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Full Name: Sanford Jonathan Clarke
Age: 20
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 165 lbs.
Jobs: Building maintenance (gardening, window washing, cleaning), works at a bookstore, tutors math at the local school.
Hobbies: Listening to music, gardening, cooking, watching movies/music television, football (soccer)

Overall: A little chubby. He is not out of shape, but doesn’t really have any defined muscle or anything.
Eyes: Naturally green. He wears light blue contacts most of the time, or glasses.
Hair: Orange-y red. It is short and thin. Often ruffled and sticks up in the back.
Clothing: See the super cool dress-up doll for examples!
Accessories: Occasionally wears round, black-rimmed glasses. Always has a plain black ring on the middle finger of his right hand. Wears watches, wristbands/rubber bracelets. Also wears scarves and hats (toques, ear-flap hats).
Extra: Freckles. Everywhere. Also, he is very pale, but not in a sickly way. His nose is pointy. Generally wears layered clothes.

Personality/History: Sanford hasn’t really led an interesting life so far. He grew up in Hayvon, a small farming community. He worked on his parents farm after school and in between odd jobs around town, including working at the 'fancy' restauraunt and as a gardener at the office building. Having worked at so many different places, he is pretty capable of doing anything you'd like him to get done. About four hours after he met The Author, all hopes of remaining normal changed. An explosion at the fireworks factory beside his house destroyed it, and killed both his parents. Having nowhere else to go he traveled with The Author until they returned to the Norsat building where he now lives.

Sanford is a nice guy, but he has a really short temper. He is scarcastic, and has a tendancy to do a lot of eye-rolling. He can often come across as grumpy, especially when with The Author. He prefers to keep to himself, although he doesn't mind socializing with other people. He is not a morning person, and will kill you if you keep him from getting coffee. He doesn't smile very often.

Random Tidbits: He is addicted to coffee. He drinks 6 or 7 cups a day.
He is a vegetarian, but not a very strict one.
His favourite band is called Unicorns Fart Rainbows, or UFR.
His favourite place to be is his garden on top of the Norsat building.
He can almost rival Phoebe in Crazy Math Skillz.

Relationships with other characters:
The Author: To clear it up once and for all: Sanford does love Author back. But he would rather have his eyes gouged out with stale bread than tell you that. Usually he is just annoyed and grumpy at him.
Phoebe: Sanford does not like Phoebe. She really hates him, and although he has no idea why, he feels as though he should return the sentiment. He enjoys doing everything he can to drive her crazy.
14: Sanford was originally afraid of 14, since she was unfinished and super creepy looking. He has grown to enjoy being around her, however, and often babysits for Phoebe.

The Scientist. Phoebe is my favourite female character, because man, she is full of SASS. She doesn’t take crap from anyone, anything, or anywhere. Really. If it is raining and she doesn’t like that, she will find a way to make it stop.


CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Full Name: Phoebe Kate Hewitt (alternate title: The Scientist.)
Age: 20
Height: 5’3”
Weight: 137 lbs.
Job: Head medical scientist of the Norsat Coroporation
Hobbies: Reading, experimenting, cleaning, doing computer-ly things

Overall: Average. She is naturally thin, but not in a way that makes her look awkward.
Eyes: Dark green and almond shaped.
Hair: Black and wavy. It is long, and goes to just a little bit past her shoulders.
Clothing: See the super cool dress-up doll for examples!
Extra: She always wears thin, round glasses. She also wears a black ring on a simple silver chain around her neck.

Personality/History: Phoebe has lived at the Norsat building for her whole life. Like most student/employees, she is able to visit her parents on weekends, but must live where she works. Phoebe is, in a word, brilliant. Hard-working and determined, once she was assigned the role of The Scientist she decided to become the very best. She met The Author at a young age, and brought Odin into the group at a later age. When the two left the building when she was 16 she refused to go with them, not willing to let all her hard work go to waste by getting in trouble with the law. She stayed at the building and became the youngest head medical scientist the company has ever had.

Phoebe, as I have said before, is full of sass. She is competely in control of every and any situation. She is dedicated to what she does, but tends to let logic overcome emotion when dealing with people rather than machines. It is a very bad idea to mess with her, because she knows how to make you explode. Really, she can do it.

Random Tidbits: She is a neat freak. She absolutely hates any sort of mess.
She is actually sort of shy when talking to someone one-on-one for the first time.
Her favourite colour is purple.
She is very bad with English and the Arts.

Relationships with other characters:
The Author: Phoebe has been The Author's best friend for many years. She is one of the few people who really knows him, and the only person who will not put up with any of his crap.
Sanford: Phoebe hates Sanford. With the passion of ten thousand suns. She feels that Sanford is supposed to be a replacement for Odin, although Sanford doesn't know that.
14: Phoebe and 14 have a mother-daughter relationship, since Phoebe created her. They do a lot of things together whenever Phoebe has free time.

Poor, poor, Odin. He really doesn’t get a lot of love. He’s such a sweetheart though, so give him a shot! He was originally the product of an afternoon of reading Ragnarok: Into the Abyss. Yeah. I don’t know how crazy fantasy gonna-beat-people-up!Odin turned into sweet, dead, everyone-needs-a-hug!Odin. But I’m glad he did.

Weight: 129 lbs.
Job: Was a student; 11th Grade.
Hobbies: Photography, drawing, socializing, volunteering

Overall: A little chubby, but light. He is not out of shape, but he wasn’t really healthy, so exercising was not something he did often.
Eyes: Large and purple. They seem a bit far away and dreamy.
Hair: Thick, black, and curly. It is cut short, just under his ears.
Clothing: Simple (but very nice) clothes with no logos or words. Sweaters, jackets and long-sleeved shirts primarily, but occasionally t-shirts. Generally wears dress pants and shoes, and doesn’t like jeans very much. He is a sharp dresser.

Extra: Very pale, and not in a healthy way. He is almost white, but has faint pink blushes in his cheeks.

Personality/History: Odin came from one of the richer families that founded Rondé Grunde. Like Phoebe and The Author, he grew up at the Norsat building, although he was allowed to leave more often because of his families status and his poor health. He was sick very often, but was generally very happy as long as he got to spend time with The Author and Phoebe. He was in training to be come a journalist for the company, with the specific title of The Photographer. He left the building with The Author at 16, and died in a car accident later that year.

Random Tidbits: He loved the water, and enjoyed going to the beach.
He always tried to keep everyone happy, even if it was at his own expense.
He was really bad at photography.

A Note: Please do not draw Odin as an angel, or any sort of Earth-based dead-people-thingy. <: In the world my characters are in, Angels are a completely different thing, and Odin is not even one of those. He was just a normal dude.

Relationships with other characters:
The Author: Odin and The Author were very close. They were best friends for a long time after Phoebe introduced them, and later became romantically involved. Ooooh.
Phoebe: Phoebe was a good friend of Odin's. They were The Author's only friends when they were younger, so they spent a lot of time all together.

14! She’s super cute, in a creepy robot sort of way. Four started off as something unfinished and strange, but she developed into something completed. …and strange.


CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Full Name: Project Synthetic Humanus: Trial Xi, a.k.a. 14
Age: N/A (appears about 8 )
Height: 4’6”
Weight: 132 lbs.

Overall: The appearance of an average child. She is heavy, however, being full of metal and wiring instead of normal human-bits.
Eyes: Big and bright green. They have no pupils.
Hair: Strawberry blonde, and to her shoulders.
Clothing: Typical little girl clothes. Pinks, purples, whites; dresses and skirts and cute t-shirts. Basically, anything adorable. Plastic necklaces, rings, bracelets; things that you would find in cereal boxes or thing that come with dolls.

Personality/History: 14's full name is Project Synthetic Humanus: Trial Xi. She is an android; the 14th in Phoebe's pet project of creating intelligent robots. She was originally programmed to only be a robot, but the success of the project lef Phoebe to later give her artificial intelligence in order to form a real personality. 14 has the appearance of a young child and has the intelligence of an average adult. She is still very child-like, but you don't have to worry about her eating bugs or paint or anything lame like that.

Random Tidbits: She absolutely loves Disney princess movies. Like, a whole lot.
She doesn't need to eat or drink, and really probably shouldn't.

Relationships with other characters:
The Author: 14 enjoys hanging out with The Author, because he can be just as childish as she is. He will do things for her without complaining, and is just as easily excited by trivial things.
Sanford: 14 has always loved Sanford for some unexplainable reason. She likes to climb all over him and follow him around whenever he's there.
Phoebe: Phoebe and 14 have a mother-daughter relationship, since Phoebe created her. They do a lot of things together whenever Phoebe has free time.

Peregrine! My little (uhh, no, not really) four armed man! He is one of my newest characters, but I love him ever so much. He is loosely inspired by the character of Feste in Twelfth Night, my favourite Shakespeare play. Mostly just because I saw it in the summer and it was set in India for some reason. Man, that play is the best ever.


CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Full Name: Peregrine
Age: Approx. 900 (Gaihan calendar is currently on year 1106) (appears about 26)
Height: 6’7”
Weight: 192 lbs.

Overall: Large and muscular. Peregrine is not someone you’d want to pick a fight with, because he could probably just sit on you and you would be a mere puddle of person on the floor.
Eyes: Small, almond shaped, and black.
Hair: Curly and black. His bangs sweep across his face, and the curls frame it, going down to his chin. Horns that curve towards the front come out from his hair, a little above his ears.
Clothing: He wears loose, flowing clothing. It is always thin, but he wears lots of layers, favouring dull colours like beige and browns. Skin is generally not seen; only his lower legs/feet. He generally wears a large red coat to hide his extra arms. White gloves cover his hands, all four. His clothes are all embroidered with details and decorated with rings, bells and trinkets. He wears lots of gold jewelry, including long looping necklaces, bracelets, anklets and rings. He never wears shoes.
Extra: Always has white face paint on, with three red triangles. He never takes it off, ever. His complexion, other than is face, is very dark. He has a red metal ring on his bottom lip, right in the middle.

Personality/History: Very little is known about Peregrine's history. He has been around for so long that even he can't remember how old he is! For the last twenty or so years he has simply wandered, performing and doing anything for money. He is very subservient and gentle, but if he's asked to, he could beat the crap outta you without even trying. His favourite thing to do is perform; playing music, doing magic tricks, telling stories. He is an entertainer first and foremost .He can play the mijwiz, mansuri, flute, panpipes, guitar, harp and mandolin.

Random Tidbits: He calls everyone 'Master' or 'Mistress'.
He will do pretty much anything if he is paid so have fun with what you draw him doing!

Wren. Even though I make fun of him pretty much all the time, I still love him. But he hates everyone. Whiny b*****d.


CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Full Name: Wren
Age: 21
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 90 lbs.
Job: Seer/kidnap-ee
Hobbies: Whining, arguing, complaining, trying not to get killed by Adrien

Overall: Twiggy and awkward. Wren has hollow bones, so he weighs very little. He has long legs and arms, but practically no meat on his bones.
Eyes: Slanted and completely black. There is no white whatsoever. When he is seeing visions his eyes are completely white, with just a hint of blue where the pupil would be.
Hair: A dark maroon sort of colour. It is cut short except for two long pieces that hang over his ears.
Clothing: See the reference. Those are his only outfits, so… I’m not going to bother explaining them. I’ll just mention that his fingernails/toenails are always black.
Extra: Wren has many tattoos, all of which can be seen on the reference sheet. The red ones are the most important, as they signify his status as Seer. However, he is almost never seen without his bird mask on.

Personality/History: Having been born with the Seers eyes, Wren grew up adored and respected by his tribe. They live in the forest, cut off from all other civilization. Wren lived in isolation for most of his life, telling fortunes and reading the future. Even his own parents have never seen his face, as it is considered tremendously bad luck to look upon the face of the Seer. Since no one dared argue or disagree with him, Wren became arrogant and condescending, refusing to listen to anyone but himself. He cannot care for himself after being waited on hand and foot for so many years, but becomes irritable whenever someone tries to help him. He has virtually no social skills whatsoever, and can be incredibly (June 26: why did no one tell me I spelled that wrong?) childish when he does not get his way.

Notes: Wren enjoys smoothies. Also, he is actually a wren. So don't forget his tail!

Full Name: Adrien
Age: 27
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 172 lbs. All muscle mass.
Job: Caravan owner/Creative business manager/thief/kidnapper
Hobbies: Drinking, flirting, getting money, stealing, "fortune telling", making fun of Wren.

Overall: Tall, lanky and muscular. He has sexy arms and wears a fingerless glove on his right hand.
Eyes: Dark Brown/Black
Hair: Black with long bangs that part poorly at an odd angle, the rest being pulled back at his nape.
Clothing: Black pants/shoes a lovely red sash with circular....belt thing and a weird tiny vest. Two small earrings on the top of each ear and large hoop earrings in the lobe of each ear.
Extra: He has very tan skin. Not too dark, but not light.

Personality/History: Adrien was born from a dangerous pair-- his mother was a traveling gypsy, and his father a rooted Cajun. His father shunned him at once, being previously married. His mother didn't want him either, so she left him with his Uncle, the owner of a large traveling Caravan. Learning from the ones that lived and performed there for money, he grew up street-wise and charming. Never having money in his pockets left him to steal at times, and at one time a man took his eye out with a fork in a restaurant (he wears a glass one now). Adrien continued to grow up with his Uncle, until the man died. Now Adrien owns the Caravan, traveling from city to city looking for the next big scam. His personality is free, he doesn't take crap from anyone and never lets insults get to him. He's easygoing and will say whatever he feels like.

Notes: He enjoys cooking.

Frequently asked questions? I guess they might have been! But now they shouldn’t be, because then you won’t have read these posts and I will be very disappointed.

Q. Can you host my art?
A. I sure can! If it’s really absolutely necessary, I can hang onto it for you. I would prefer if you could host it yourself on deviantART/another gallery or Photobucket/another image hosting service.

Q. Is there anything that will NOT be accepted?
Not much, really! Anything that is against the Gaia TOS is not going to be accepted. I also don’t really want anything that is super out of character, unless you have a really good reason for it. The whole point of the contest is to portray them properly! If you really want to submit something over PG-13 for some reason, please state so on your Sexy Submission form so I know. I’m not sure what you would draw, (Unless you are V-face. Then I have a pretty good idea.) but hey, you’re the creative ones. If there is anything you are unsure about, feel free to post here or PM me or something.

Q. Can I change anything about your characters?
A. Uuuuuh, no. That’d sort of go against the point of this whole contest dealio. I mean, giving them different clothes or something is great for everyone except Adrien and Wren, but changing important things about them is just not cool. Q. So, what is the Group category?
A. Ok, yeah, I know, there are categories for Author/Sanford/Odin, but they all interact! A group picture is anything that has more than two characters, or is like Author and Phoebe together or something. One very important thing to know: Odin absolutely cannot be in a picture with Sanford or 14. Why? Because he is dead. And he is not a zombie, so that is not going to happen. Please only do group pictures of Author/Sanford/Odin/Phoebe/14, because Peregrine, Wren and Adrien are not part of their universe. Peregrine should not be in any group pictures either. Sorry if that’s sort of confusing!

Q. What is this Coolest New Outfit prize all about?
A. Well, I had my Goti Clips lying around, and I figured someone would want them, so I added that in! Basically, you’re up for this if you submit anything of The Author, Sanford, Phoebe, Odin, 14 or Peregrine in an original clothing design. It’s not a specific category to post things in, so don’t submit something saying it’s for that because… I’ll tell you to change it to something else and you’ll look silly. Outfits will be judged on how well they fit the character, how creative they are and… y’know, how cool they are! But so you know, creative doesn’t necessarily mean ‘I am going to throw eight million accessories on this and it will be the best EVER’. Simple can be creative too!

Q. Who is going to be judging?
A. That’d be me! They’re my characters, so it makes sense, right? Totally. I might be getting some help from outsiders (those who do not lurk the hallowed forums of Gaia) for really tough decisions.

The Author: Oh look! My post is finally being put to use. It's for a new category:

Author!Puppy is basically The Author with dog ears and a tail.

Why?

The Author is a mix-breed. He is 1/2 Human, 1/4 Eoili (like Holly) and 1/4 Zetaamin. The Zetaamin are a species of animal-like people that are based on real animals. Full Zetaamin have fur, ears, tails; the works. Half Zetaamin only have ears and tails, and Quarter Zetaamin don't resemble their animal at all - they generally only have misshapen ears or other small features.

The Author is 1/4 Karelian Bear Dog.

Basically, whenever I'm draw Author being a total goof, I tend to draw him like a puppy. And I want you to too, because it is cute. heart

His ears are pointed and black. Only draw the doggy ears and not the pointy ones - he shouldn't have two pairs of ears! The tail curls inwards, and is black with a white tip. You can use the Google search for reference.

This category isn't really serious. (; Just draw something silly and happy, and you'll be fine! The prize is a Mochi the Puppy. Fitting, right?

Note: If you draw him with a real dog, that would be totally awesome. Wink wink nudge nudge!
