11/04/06 - Grand Re-Opening of Nymphalia! Yes, that's right! After a very long hiatus we are back up and running! And to celebrate, this next week we have a couple of events planned, including a flatsale consisting of several ranked nymph! Stay tuned for more information!

1. Don't steal any of the art for any reason! That should be self explainitory, but some people don't always have respect for the artist. Flidget Jerome worked very hard on all the lineart and derserves respect for his hard work!

2. Please read this entire page. The information on it is important as it explains everything! Before asking any questions be sure to have read the front page first!

3. Don't PM us asking for a pet. If you have a question please post it in the thread someone else might be wanting to know the same thing. If it a question of a personal nature then you may PM us about it. Only if you are requesting pet trades, may you PM the shop account.

4. Keep it friendly! We want this place to be open to anyone that comes in. That means no fighting in here, and if you have drama then leave it at the door. We will not tolarate flaming in this thread. If someone has a problem with us or our shop let us deal with it.

5. No net speak. Sorry we want compleate sentances and actual words instead of numbers. It's difficult to read as well as bothersome to other people.

6. You may not resell you Nymph. If you are leaving gaia then PM us about it and we will place it under a new sponsor. Otherwise once a nymph is past the egg stage it may not be re-sold by it's owner.

7. Save to your own server. We will only allow direct linking up to your last stage. At that point you must save it to your own server! For some people that will be stage 4, for those that quest it's stage 5.

8. Please keep quotes to a minimum. We don't like quotes that are a quote in a quote in a quote in a quote... you get the picture.

9. Do NOT use text colors that make our eyes bleed! Text colors such as cyan and yellow hurt. Please don't use them in this thread!

10. Do NOT God Mode whe RPing! You may not decide the actions/emotions/reactions of other players nor may you use thier characters when they are not available.

11. Stick to your rank! If you are RPing and you're nymph is a commoner in rank you cannot RP him/her as a higher caste unless you recieve permission from Britain or Orasteele.

12. Please use (( )) when speaking OOC in the thread when RP is going on around you.

F.A.Q.

Q. How many can we own?
A. You can own as many as you want! If you can afford it then go for it!

Q. Do I have to RP if I get one?
A. No, these are not RP required pets, but it is highly encouraged! If you do RP there are benefits you will be eligable to recieve! We highly recommed RPing in the thread and in the guild!

Q. What's my nymph's rank?
A. Check your cert. We will update them if your rank has changed due to RPing.

Q. Can two males or two females breed?
A. No, but they can adopt abandoned eggs. See breeding for more information.

Q. Do you accept pet trades?
A. Yes we do! Please see the post on getting a nymph for more info!

Q. How long does it take them to grow?
A. See the info on the stages below.

Q. So, I can take my Nymph home now, right?!
A. It depends. Check the information about Sponsorship- all of our Nymphs might visit elsewhere, but they live right here. Leaving the Courts changes advancement possibilities for your Nymph considerably, so choose wisely!

Flatsale
All Flatsales will take place in this thread.

Type 1 Sale: a speed sale. For those you must wait till either Britain or Orasteele to post "FLAT SALE OPEN" or something like that. All posts prior to that will be ignored. They will be given in order of who posted. You may only ask for one Nymph + 1 for a friend, and they must be refered to by thier number.

ex. I would like #__ please!
ex. I would like #__ and would also like to get #__ for (insert name here) please!

Type 2 Sale: an RP prompt sale. In this sale there will be several prompts for you to choose from and you are to reply to one of the prompts in character. These will run 2 hrs to allow everyone a chance at the sale. We will then choose who gets first pick, second pick, etc. after judging the entries.

Flatsale Prices: 5-6k (depending on complexity)

DO NOT edit your posts during flatsales. It is unfair to the other participants.

Raffle
Raffles are held in a separate thread. All information on the Nymph being raffled will be posted in that thread, as well as the ticket price.

Ticket Prices: 200-1000 (depending on complexity)

Auction
Auctions take place in a separate thread and end at the listed time in that thread. All information for bidding will be posted as well as the image of what you will be bidding on in that thread. We use the gaia board post time to tell who was the last person. You must show interest prior to the last 30 minutes of the sale to participate.

Pet Trade
We do accept pet trades, but we are very picky about those we will accept. Please do not be offended if we decline your request. Also just because your pet isn't listed that doesn't mean we wouldn't be interested. Please PM all pet trade requests to Queen Selune.

Occassionally there is a gaian item that comes along that we would love to have. Therefore there will be limited times when this will be available.

1. A Nymph is not a fairy.

A Nymph is a fairy-like creature, yes, but it is not in fact a fairy. They tend to get really pissed about this, so remember it well. Their base species is butterfly and moth, not anything particularly magical.

2. A Nymph is not a magical creature.

True, the Queens have some small magics (usually related to serving their people as a whole) and there are definite mages n the ranks, but not all Nymphs can use magic. It is something you are born with- not trained into.

3. Nymphs are a small race.

The largest wingspan of a Nymph is about the size of your hands put next to each other, fingers spread (max of about a foot). They're little. The humanoid body-size is about the same for all of them, however.

4. Nymphs live in trees and other garden-like areas.

They are very loyal to their original house, and tend to panic a little if they can't stay near it- hence the mad rush to find a new home when House Saturniidae was 'evicted.' They are happiest with family and friends in a quiet, secluded area.

..::About Sponsoring A Nymph::..

So you want in, hmmm? OKay, here's how it works. By sponsoring a Nymph, your character (you) is basically agreeing to pay for their expenses, and help with the upkeep of the tree and such. This does NOT mean you pay any more money once you have your Nymph- it's an RP fact. Brit sponsors Queen Selune, so she drops by to make sure everything's okay and basically acts as a guardian in case anything goes wrong. The Nymphs do NOT live with you, they stay here in their home court- but they can go visit, if they'd like. You are not their parent, though if you raise them you will be held responsible for their actions.

NEW: With the shifting of the Courts, the Queens have decided it is permissable for Nymphs to live away from the Courts. Be careful, however! A Queen is not likely to trust just anyone who she doesn't see on a regular basis- this will affect your possibilities for advancement. (See Ranks for more information.)

Nymphs have five stages of growth.

..::Egg::..

They start out as an egg carefully laid by their mother; this is a very delicate stage, and must be protected at all costs. Very little is known about the nymph at this stage. The eggs are about the size of a dime.

..::Caterpillar::..

The egg hatches into a chubby, ravenously hungry little caterpillar. At this stage, gender and species become apparent. If the parents are mixed (moth and butterfly) this is the time to decide which Court the child will be raised in. Caterpillars have the intelligence of a small child (5-12) and can speak quite clearly once they've listened to others for a while. Basic education by the Court begins here.

..::Cocoon::..

After putting up with the Courts for a while (politics, bleh), the caterpillar suddenly becomes very restless. It's already voracious appetite increases dramatically, and it begins to seclude itself from family and friends. Within a couple days of this, the caterpillar is found to be missing- and later discovered in a quiet, safe place, wrapped in a cocoon.

..::Butterfly/Moth::..

BOOM. With a suddenness that is almost always startling, the quietly resting caterpillar wakes up and ABSOLUTELY MUST get out of that cocoon. The silk begins to crack around them, and they fight their way through- only to emerge, exhausted, as a fully adult butterfly. This stage has an intelligence of late teenager hood, but this is also when hormones first kick in- be careful! It's a very frustrating time. Remember, Nymphs do not mate until their final stage.

..::Nymph::..

The final, human-seeming stage takes a little bit of work and an active decision on the Nymph's part. In order to receive this stage, the Nymph must quest for it. They must ask their particular Queen for permission to seek the Chamber- the Room of Secrets, where they will take this final form. In character, this is usually a time of intense meditation, fasting, and solitude- much like a Knight's vigil. Out of character this is no big deal- remember, Nymphs are not RP required! This is information for you to use in RP. For more information on this when the time comes, ask Brit and Steele. At this stage, Nymphs can form families and alliances, and become a strong part of their Queen's Court- no matter what rank they start out as!

Originally, there were two seperate Courts, two seperate Houses. House Papilio resided in the large tree that sits in the upper corner of the field between Barton and Durem. House Saturniidae found its home in the luxurious garden around Gambino's Mansion. The two Houses didn't exactly get along, but they had an uneasy truce that was usually broken only by young hotheads or bored thrill-seekers- both Queens rolled their eyes and let the individuals sort out their own nonsense.

However.

Halloween 2004 brought violent changes to House Saturniidae. With the destruction of Gambino's Mansion, the entire Court fled for their fragile lives; Queen Thysania being a practical woman, she surveyed her options and found only one truly desirable. Against the protests of her proud court, she lead them to the door of Queen Selune and House Papilio; with remarkable humility, she asked the Butterfly Queen for sanctuary.

Now, it is a well known fact that both Queens have firey tempers and very set opinions. Queen Selune was not particularly happy about having a secondary Court crowding her own; however, she does by nature have a kind heart. After quite a bit of haggling...she allowed the invasion.

It has been quite some time since the Courts began residing together. Both have grown and changed quite a bit- and Queen Thysania has decided that it's time to get OUT. It seems the Moth Court is looking for a new home...this should be interesting!

Rank in the Court isn't based on wealth or property. How can it be, they all live in a TREE?! Instead, it is essentially based on how much trust your Queen is willing to put in you. Her Knights, Lords, Ladies, and Mages are those she has seen to be worthy of her favor; they are also the ones most likely to be given responsibilities or sent to be her voice in other Courts or handle problems in her own. Knights, in particular, require a lot of trust- they are her Protectors, and in times of crisis she places her life into their hands.

Needless to say, the only way you can attain one of these ranks is to RP. The Nymphs are not RP required, but these ranks ARE. Sometimes Mages will be offered for raffle or auction, but otherwise...it's simply a matter of us watching you, and seeing what you are willing to put into the Court.

Only those born with mage talent may become mages- but you will not become an official, Court-sanctioned mage unless you RP.

Should the Queens feel you would be a good addition to their higher ranks, you will receive an invitation personally from their hands.

The only other way to gain rank in the court is to have 10 different nobles of your house petition that you should join thier ranks. If a queen signs a petition to court it does not count as an invitation.

RULES

1. It takes a male and a female to have eggs, but same-sex couples can adopt eggs.

2. Both Nymph must have been an adult butterfly/moth for at least 2 weeks before breeding.

3. Nymphs mate for 'life' - this is a relative term in the same sense that people marry and then divorce later. Your Nymph must be 'life-mated' to thier partner in order to breed. See life-mating for more details on the subject.

4. Nymph have/can adopt 1-3 eggs at a time.

5. You may keep/give/sell your eggs to others, but the shop gets 75% of whatever selling price they bring. These are ment to be for everyone - not money makers.

6. After breeding Nymph must wait 2 months till they can be eligible for a slot again.
