Setting

The neighborhood looks much the same as usual, save for the lazy orange-tinged touch of a slow autumn and the Halloween decorations present on most of the houses. Jack-O-Lanters of various sizes and expressions lined broken sections of the sidewalk, and several buildings have been adorned with lumpy cotton "spider webs." Each house, of course, had its own personal taste in being spookily clad: one had the sillhuette of a witch up in the oak tree in the front yard, another had a blood-splattered piece of tarp covering some unidentifiable lump in the driveway. Still more are completely smothered in little plastic spiders.

The Illusionary HQ, of course, was not left out of the holiday crazy. Instead of clumps of cotton fiber, however, it had shimmering veils of a spider-silk-like substance shielding the entire lot; it seemed real enough, yet when one tries to gather a handful, the magical strands always elude capture. Orange and yellow balls of shimmering light danced around the area, occasionaly blinking out or resting upon some calm surface. And there's the Jack-O-Lanters. They lie in haphazard clums over the grass, beneath the trees, and under the bushes; all are carved, but none had faces. Instead, they were decorated with intricate rune-like designs that glowed haf-heartedly, yet they are all bright enough to be seen even in broad daylight. The elements of the decore were simple, but somehow it still managed to be mesmirizing and beautiful.

The inside of the building was clad just as simply (of course, it only consisted of a spacious common room and various back rooms, thus there wasn't that much to work with in the first place). The same shimmering veil fluttered in the air and clung to any surface it could find, though not as thickly as outside. A few of the glowing lights have found their way inside the building and was drifting around casually. The lighting acquired a more sinister tone than usual, leaning toward a dark, flickering orange rather than the usual natural light. Black paper bats rest suspended somewhere overhead; no doubt the residents would have used real bats if they weren't concerned about frightening some of the more easily startled little ones.

The back yard looks much the same as the front, with one delightful detail: slightly to the side, right next to the small pond, was a tree shrouded in strings of brightly wrapped candy. More of the glowing lights seemed to rest in this tree than anywhere else, drawing even more attention to the curiously adorned plant. But surely the little ones would not need such extra notice.

It wasn't too long before a small group rounded the corner into the front yard, consisting of a tall, purple-haired woman, a miniature girl with pale green hair, and a small child- or a very tall toddler- dressed in a long black robe. Aurelius looked around critically, and nodded. "Okay, we can be here," she said authoritively, glancing between her escorts. The fairy-sized girl was dressed as a genie; the tall woman was clad as a princess, ghostly in pale shades of her hair color. "C'mon, Ku, Tsu." The dragonfly child marched forward, her two "antennae"- really just portions of her blonde hair gelled upwards around a headband of wire that disappeared easily into her hair color- bouncing and waving eratically.

Her poison-green eyes looked around; spotting the Jack-o'Lanterns, she scampered forth to sit among a clump. The largest concentration of the shimmering lights also happened to be there, through a calculated search by Aure. "Get over here," she commanded Ku. Tsu had been riding on her shoulder, so it was only necessary to boss her motherly persocom about. It always helped that they obeyed, even if it was probably bad for her personality. Soon enough, she was busily exploring the front yard, trying to catch the silky spiderwebs and seeing which jack-o-lanterns would hold her weight and which wouldn't. (It didn't please her that all of them could.) She eventually settled down on one pumpkin with a particularly elaborate rune, leaning back with a hand on two different pumpkins other than the one she was sitting on. She had had enough of chasing random little lights; now to wait for someone to play with.
Shen was slightly surprised that anyone had came this early, but was happy for the arrivals nonetheless. Despite her efforts at decorating the building, she wasn't dressed in costume herself - though her white dress could've easily passed off as a princess costume. Zombie princess, more like, but she didn't exactly mind the sharp contrast between the pure white thing, her waist-long dark hair, and lavender eyes.

She quietly stepped out the front door and made her way towards the bunch. They don't seem too occupied with anything in particular at the moment, so she's probably not intruding. "Hello," she greeted the trio, noting the strange - or rather, lack of - aura of the biggest and smallest. "I'm Shen, and I guess you could say I'm in charge of this whole..." she gestured toward the HQ, suddenly at a loss for nouns. "Thing." Shen smiled a bit sheepishly at the blunder. Well, it's not like she'sreally had anyone to talk to lately.

This could turn out to be a long day...

A squeal of joy is heard as a young woman rounds the corner, a bundle of flowing red in her arms, little hands reaching for the night sky and the womans shirt. Lavi stopped at the sidewalk and cooed to the costume clad youngster; that of a fairy, her own delicate wings a beautiful decorational touch. Lavi herself was dressed as a gypsy, hair done short in curls and dyed to black. a tamborine was strapped to her hip on a pair of ragged pants, dyed different colors by patches sewn on. She also had a worn cloth bag hanging on her shoulder, a soft looking reddish blanket could be seen poking out slightly. After a moment she turned and walked into the yard, still cooing to the child but approaching the slowly gathering group.

Lavi looked up as Ayame's attention went from her to their surroundings, her eyes wide with awe and excitement at all the lights and colors. She cried out with glee as she spotted another illusionary but made no effort to try and reach it as Lavi moved to take a seat on the pumpkins not far from Vocalization. the other's must have come with her by the looks of it.

"Good eve to you, miss....I'm afraid i do not know your name?"

Aurelius was up and clutching onto Shen's dress in mere moments. "Tagi talked about you, you're the Illusionary lady," she said. "Are you the Illusionary lady?" Her voice held a tone of demand. "Wossan'Illusionary anyway, Illusionary lady?" She seemed to be completely ignoring the fact she knew how to speak better than that and that Shen had just introduced herself.

"Now, Aurelius, let's not be rude..." Ku said placatingly before she turned to Lavi. "Hello there, dear. I'm Ku, and this," she held up Tsu, "Is Tsu. The little girl pretending to be Larxene from Kingdom Hearts is," A glare from Aurelius silenced her. "Larxene, of course."
Shen was, as anything alive would probably be, surprised at the toddler's sudden movements. Years of training drilled into her being supressed her urge to flinch, but her face still let past an expression of surprise. She quickly regained her composure, and smiled at...Larxy, or whatever it was supposed to be. Shen made a mental note to ask Ever about this Kingdom Hearts thing, though she doubted that Ever knew about it either. Aurelius, of course; she remembers when the little dragonfly came without a bond.

"Yes, Lar..xene," she said with an amused twinkle in her eyes, "and I'm sure Shen is alot easier to say than 'Illusionary lady.'" She paused there, pondering just exactly how to phrase the concept for someone so small. "An Illusionary, like you and me, is someone who once lived in another world, simply put. We are brought to Gaia through certain magical means. Here, we can live another life without too much of the burdens of the older one. Although, sometimes, things from the other world tends to find us even here, and continue to follow us." She hoped that made sense to little Aurelius; well, no one ever told her answering questions was easy.

Aurelius tossed her hair. "Okay then miss Shen," she said, though the words went mostly over her head. "S'm different from, like..." She scrutinized the area around her. "...Tsu?" It was the first name she came up with. Immediately she made a disgusted face. "'course I am, Tsu's a computer and I'm a pers- Illusionary person, right?" She'd gotten the part about past lives quite well. "So I wasn't always me?" Unspoken were the words So I wasn't always the BEST? She raised a single blonde eyebrow and pulled on one of her ears with three of her fingers.
"Well..." having the idea being put into the mind of a toddler does seem to result in interesting view points. "You have always been you, but the you right now doesn't know about, or rather, remember, the you before...but chances are, you will start to find out things about the you that's before." Shen was pretty sure there's too many "you"s for grammar's sake, and she desparately hoped that came out at least comewhat understandable.

Amongst all the seemingly scary decorations, a mysteriously hooded dark figure appeared. He lazily glanced around, as both gloved hands clutched a pair of chakram. His hood was promptly yanked back, revealing reddish hair that was purposely spiked upwards in a supposedly cool fashion and little marks below his eyes. Slinging his right hand over his shoulder, he looked for his next victim...

"Okay, that's it. Stop acting cool just because you have a wonderfully complete, hand made Organisation XIII-like coat. I'd like to add that the chakrams are actually cardboard?" A sarcastic voice broke the little boy's make-pretend session, yet it had slight tinges of humour.

Mereneth shot a glare at his guardian, which was clad in a purple tube top and a long glittery skirt; dressing up as Ariel for Halloween. He chose to ignore her by walking to the Jack-O-Lanterns curiously and poked one with a single chakram. Melody stuck out the tip of her tongue at his glare, giving a soft giggle as she scanned the area.

Uh-oh.

She had just spotted someone else dressed as an Organisation XIII member. Heh, not that it mattered, but it was, if she remembered clearly, Aurelius, the little girl(which seemed to have grown bigger like Mereneth) that "Axel" had a fight with, and obviously, clearly hated. Mental note: Try not to let the two fight again. If they did meet, of course.

Aurelius opened her mouth to ask another complicated question, but her pestering of Shen was interuppted by the arrival of Axel. She turned slowly, ever so dramatically slowly. The silver on her coat- purposefully dulled down so she wouldn't freak out when she looked at it- clinked in an imaginary silence. She squinted at Axel, then glared. "Mereneth," she hissed darkly. Trust him to totally steal HER costume idea! Of course, he was Axel and she was Larxene. But Axel killed Larxene!

So, of course, to the toddler, this denoted a need to prove her dominance (and height!) to the ignoble flame-boy. She stomped over as theatrically as she could. "Number Eight," she said, her eyes narrowed in a glare. "What're you doing here?"

She giggled at the scene Aurelius was causing and affecting, unable to help herself. 'Well, I am Lavi, and this little one is Ayame.' Ayame fidgeted and looked up at Lavi longingly as if to ask to be set down, the message going through to Lavi clearly as she set Ayame between her feet, gently leaning her against the pumpkin upon which she sat.

"I take it 'Larxene' has a bit of a temper from the looks of things? I have a feeling I know her by a different name, somehow though...I can't quite place it."

She looked down fondly at Ayame as the little Illusionary stared rather intently at Aurelius. for a moment the only sign of movement was the occasional flicker of her wings.
Seeing that Aurelius had now occupied herself with the new arrival, for better or for worse, Shen now directed her attention (against, perhaps, her better judgements because she just might have to break up a fight) to Lavi, who had been sitting to the side for some time now. "Hello, there," she greeted for the second time in ten minutes. "How have you been, Miss lavi, and Ayame of course?"
