Hello and welcome to Vamp_Yuripa and Kouseki's art contest. There's up to A Million gold in prizes. So feel free to come and submit.


THEME: Geisha characters.

SUBJECTS: Yuki, Tao, Kiana and Niko.
ACCEPTABLE ART: All media, techniques and styles.

2. Be nice and respect everyone in this thread.
3. Follow Gaia TOS. Anything done over PG-13 is acceptable, but must be PMed in.

Grand Prize

This one's easy. Every entery is automatically submitted into this. The prize goes to whoever makes the judges go "*-*" the most.

Best Group

Any entry with the four of them all go in here, as well as entries with three of them. Keep in mind, we want all four of them together if you can manage it.

Best Couple

This prize can go to love scenes, friend scenes or even fight scenes, as long as two people are in it.

Best Geisha

There are actually four prizes to this, since there are four characters. One goes to the best Yuki, one goes to the best Tao, one goes to the best Kiana, and one goes to the best Niko.

Best Kimono

Great at making patterns or drawing Kimonos? Have a great sense of obi colours? This prize goes to the best looking kimono! Any picture with a kimono in it is eligable.

Most Amusing

Every entry is automatically submitted into this one. It's simple. Whoever's entry makes us laugh the most wins.

Most Accurate

Every entry is automatically submitted into this one. Whichever entry is closest to what we see our characters as wins this one.

Most Adorable

Only Couple enteries are in this one. The entery that makes the judges feel all gushy inside gets this prize.

Most Creative

All enteries are automatically submitted into this one. The judges all decide which drawing is the most creative, and this prize goes to that artist.

F.A.Q :

How many pictures can I make?
- As many as you wish.

I made many color designs and now I can't choose what to pick.
- ah, that's okay, copy-paste them next to each other and let me have the picture.

So what are we supposed to draw exactly?
- Youl'll be drawing one of the character's listed below. There's four of them that you can choose from, so you can do one of each or couple pictures instead.

So if I draw a lot of detailed stuff about her in the picture, will that increase my chance of winning the main prizes?
-It really just depends, sometimes it will but then again at times it will be the same as earlier.


Can I pm you if I have a question?
- Sure, we don't bit hard.

Can I ask you about what you like/dislike and overall crits about the drawing I made?
- Absolutely.

What if there's only one entry for one prize?
- Then the contest for that prize will be lengthened for a little bit.

Who will be judging?
Kouseki and Vamp_Yuripa will be doing the main judging, but they will also have Benign_Poison and [.Juichi.] help out on certain one's as well.

Hair Style: Always pulled up, usually in buns or braids. Usually has ribbons.
Skin tone: Tan.

Clothing Taste: Usually Animal Hide or Furr. She likes to keep her heritage, as it's very important to her.

Mini Bio: Kiana had an amazing life before coming to her Okiya. She raced sled dogs, and hung around with her brothers. She always believed her ancestors would look out for her, she loves her culture and loves her home in Alaska dearly. However, members of her tribe continued to point out how pretty she was, too pretty to be a sled dog racer. Soon she became interested in the ways of the Geisha, and after a few winning races, she could afford to fly to Japan and attend!

Connections to Yuki: Kiana and Yuki are best friends, as far as she's concerned. She really cares for Yuki, practically like her sister, and hopes that they can spend a long time together. At one point, Kiana got so upset that Yuki was hurt that she screamed at her Okaa-san, causing her to be nearly beaten to death. That's just how much she cares.

Connections to Niko: She has the biggest crush in the WORLD on Niko. She just refuses to admit it. Everytime he goes off and flirts with someone she gets really pissed off. At the same time he always gives her the most attention by picking on her and it's confusing for her. They basically have a Sango/Miroku relationship. He thinks she hates him, she sort of wishes she could, but at the same time can't help but like him. How does she show it? Usuallyher jealousy. At times, however, she's nice to him, and he finds that a bit weird, she's sure.

Connections to Tao: They're.. sort of friends. She doesn't know much about him, other than her best friend Yuki simply adores the guy. They can get along, even talk a little, but Kiana's hoping they can become good friends too, at some point.

Extra Details: Kiana never takes off her wooden toteum around her neck. The dog featured is her very best non-human friend Koda, whom is a sled racing dog.

Alone: Doing her make-up, playing with Koda, brushing out her hair, playing in snow, Geisha dancing.

With Niko: Her getting jealous of him flirting with another girl, him messing with her hair teasingly, her throwing a snowball at him, Niko watching over a very badly wounded Kiana in a bed, them -GASP- kissing or doing something else couple-ish.

With Yuki: Going girly things such as hair or make-up with eachother, a friendly hug between them, them reading a book giggling, a snowball fight, both of them dressed up really fancy together.

With Tao: ..Staring at eachother confused? No idea.

Name: Yuki Ai Taylor

Nationality: American
Eye Color: Brownish with red highlight in them.
Height: 5' 4"
Type of body/build: Very curvy, if seen without something loose like a kimono you can tell she is very busty.
Skin type: Caucasian
Hair color: Brown hair that is more towards the amber color.
Character's typical hairstyle: Long bangs that frame her face with the rest pulled into a half ponytail. She sometimesk has different things in her hair as well.
Clothing Taste: Yuki loves to dress up in American/goth clothing or in kimono's of any kind. She often wears black or teal though.

Mini Bio:

Connections to Kiana:
Kiana is Yuki's first real friend at the Okiya and quickly became her best friend there. The two of them are close as sister's and often yuki admits things to kiana she doesn't want to say to herself. But, the bond between them is very deep, in fact it was Kiana who stopped yuki from drowning herself in a time of depression, and gave her a small necklace yuki is always wearing now.

Connections to Niko: She tries so hard to be friends with him, although it hasn't worked yet. She often calls him Niko-kun, but there not really friends. She really is just around him because Kiana is near him.

Connections to Tao: Well, She really cares about Tao. At first, He hated her but with time she broke down that casing on him and learned of the real Tao. Now, she's falling deeper and deeper in love with him, but tries to lie to herself and say shes just friends with him, although that is a lie.

Extra Details: Yuki sometimes wears a wooden bear toteum around her neck that Kiana gave her. Also she loves to put on weird make-up in odd colors, such as teal or black.

With Niko: Staring at him with a smile, and Him looking at her as If she was a monster.

Body: Fit but not overly muscular, he has a fox tail and fox ear's as well, so everyone knows. He's been training in martial arts since he was a child, and his constant training, even in the Okiya at times, keeps him fit.
Eye color: Bright Green.
Hair color: Chestnut brown.
Hair length: To Shoulder.
Hair Style: Slightly long bangs that fall in his eyes, and a little messy.
Skin tone: Peachy.

Taste in Clothing: He likes very simple clothing in mainly greens. Tends to wear is clothing a bit loose, sometimes falling off the shoulders. Prefers a kimono with pants over a long kimono with no pants, but will wear either.

Mini Bio: A flirtatious moron? Best way to describe it, I s'pose. He can't go near a female without finding some way to flirt with her, and is a tad bit perverted. But he's still friendly, and if he does something too bad, he'll feel terrible about it. And he can't help but help other out if they're in trouble. However, he can be a bit of an a** at times. He can be horribly stubborn, too.

Connections to Kiana: From what's shown, Niko seems to crush on Kiana pretty hard. How does he show it? He picks on her, and on occasion flirts with someone else, then enjoys watching her be jealous... Until he sees how upset it gets her, then he feels like an a**. He messes with her hair, throws paper balls at her head, tosses his arm around her shoulder and leans in to talk to her. One time, Kiana was very badly wounded and Niko screamed at the Okaa-san, then carried Kiana to her bed and watched over her. He's pretty confused about his feelings for Kiana, however, but there's no doubt about it that he has feelings for her.

Connections to Tao: Oh, these two. One time Kiana managed to get Niko into trouble by saying he was alone in a room with Tao's precious girlfriend Yuki. They've gotten into a few rather interesting fights, most of them either about Yuki or Tao's stress, despite the fact that Niko doesn't care for Yuki all that much. The two of them can't seem to get along very well, unless there's something huge going on to keep them from thinking about how much they don't like each other.

Connections to Yuki: There aren't many connections. One time Yuki's towel slipped and he caught a nice view. Kiana always says that Niko likes Yuki better because of said scene and that he and Tao fought over her. However, he doesn't actually flirt with her being that he's a bit frightened that Tao might come around and beat him to a bloody pulp, despite he can fight well.

Name: Chiang Tao, meaning "Great Waves"
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Nationality: Chinese
Personality: Tao spends most of his time deep in thought, perferring it to the company of others. It isn't that he doesn't desire companionship, it is simply he is insecure about his ability to fit in. Tao is rather cynical and mistrusting of others, and thus creates a near impenatrble outer shell. Despite his often cold, distant exterior, he is deeply caring and genuine if you take the time to earn his trust.
Eye Color: brownish honey color.
Height: 6'1"
Type of body/build: Fit but not overly muscular, he has broad shoulder's though.

Skin type: Caucasian.
Hair color:Dark brown, almost blackish.
Character's typical hairstyle: his bangs are down on the right side of his face, with the rest pulled back into a high poinytail.

taste in clothing.

Tao always wears his kimono and hakama as seen in the reference pictures. For sleeping, he wears only his hakama pants, or on colder nights, a sleeping yukata (like a robe)

If the drawing calls for modern clothing, loose (but not overly baggy) jeans and a tank top or wife beater would be his first choice, as he prefers comfort over style. He wouldn't be one to accesorize with any jewelry or sunglasses or a hat.

Mini Bio:
Tao is 17 years old and was born in Shanghai China. He never knew his parents, as he was given up for adoption when he was born. Tao was the second born in his family, and in China, every couple is allowed only one child. Tao spent 16 years of his life in a home for boys until his sponsor, Luli-san, chose him as her new pupil.

Luli-san was in it for the money though, and mistreated and beat Tao regularly. This combined with the circumstances of his birh has left Tao bitter and mistrusting of people and his place in the world. He is reserved and quiet most of the time, and put off a cold exterior. He prefers to spend his time alone, having never had friends, and being unsure of how to now.

Despite the wall he puts up, he is thoghtful and caring of those who earn his trust.

Connections to Yuki:

Yuki was Tao's first real friend at the Okiya, or anywhere for that matter, and he feels more for her than he ever has for anyone. He's unsure of the extent of his feelings for her, but to everyone else, it's fairly obvious that he loves her.

Connections to Niko:

Niko is Tao's rival of sorts. Niko is a shameless flirt, and tease all the girls in the Okiya. Well, Tao's overly protective of Yuki and when he heard the Niko was flirting with her, he almost beat Niko senseless. Yeah, they don't get along.

Connections to Kiana:

Tao doesn't know her well personally, but as she is Yuki's best friend, he likes the girl well enough.

Extra Details:

Tao rarely smiles, often glares, and is most often seen wearing a slight pout with his arms crossed.

Picture Ideas

Alone:

Him sitting on his futon in his hakama (pants), looking pensive, or even wirting in his journal. Him standing with his arms crossed. Him at the festival. (He wore his hair in a low ponytail and had a more formal kimono on. The kimono was dark blue with small silver designs of koi (fish) in a stream running along the bottom and up one side. Him in a bath (community bath, think almost like a hot spiring) with his arms crossed and glaring at someone beside him. (please only chest up, let's keep it clean people)

With Niko:
Standing beside Niko and glaring at him.Ready to hit Niko (maybe even with Yuki restraining him)

With Yuki:

Any couple pose will do, really, but remeber you can do it also before they were "officially" dating and back then Tao's fairly unsure of their relationship. In other words, he most likely wouldn't openly kiss her, or hold her casually. (at least not yet)

With Kiana:

Maybe Kiana's dog (Koda) biting at Tao's pants leg and Kiana yelling at the dog?

Other:

Dressed as Inu Yasha, In modern clothing, or As Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi.
