Final Fantasy VIII Reign of the Lion
Introduction
Welcome. My name is Sid, and I belong to an Elite Military School, known as Balamb Garden. My mother is the infamous Quistis Trepe who died tragically when I was five. But you don’t want to hear my life’s story, you want to know about the Reign of the Lion. About one, maybe two, thousand years ago, before Sorceress Adel was even heard of, there was sorceress, whose power didn’t rest in the elements, but in her power over animals. This sorceress was told to be kind and gentle, staying far away from civilization to live with her friends in the animal kingdom, but it wasn’t so easy. Whenever she would find a place to live, some militia would find her and chase her away, calling her an abomination and a monster. Soon, she found herself alone and peaceful until, yet again, she was found. One legend says that the man who found her, killed her and stole her power, but others tell of how they loved and other things. Anyway, the line of this sorceress has been traced down to the group of children that now risk their lives in Timber to become SeeDs, but what will happen? Who knows…maybe the legends are all wrong, but there is only one way to find out…have a sorceress threaten the world and then the power be drawn out of the child…
Background
It has been years since the sorceress Ultimecia was defeated and her reign of terror and death ended. The world has been peaceful with eachother, except for the small wars between Timber and Deling City. As of yet, Timber has yet to accomplish the task of gaining its independence, but the people of the militia and private resistance groups have yet to give up. Back at Balamb Garden, SeeDs are still being trained and distributed to solve other peoples’ problems throughout the world. The current Headmaster of Balamb Garden, Rinoa Heartilly, has indeed grown older over the years and her husband, Squall Leonhart, has still maintained his position of Commander with the only daughter of Quistis Trepe, Sidney Trepe, under his constant supervision. Sadly, Quistis Trepe was killed in the line of duty protecting the President of Esthar, Laguna Loire, while he was visiting Galbadia’s capital. Unknown to most at Balamb Garden, Quistis also had a son, Alejandro, by Seifer Almasy, whom has raised the boy in Timber and they are now both apart of Rinoa’s old resistance group: the Forest Owls. Irvine Kinneas and Selphie Tilmitt have spent most of their time in Trabia Garden where Selphie is now Headmistress and Irvine is a SeeD Ambassador of Balamb living in Trabia Garden. Selphie and Irvine have twin boys, Wil and Bo, who have been transferred to Balamb Garden to become SeeDs after spending thirteen years at Trabia Garden. Zell Dincht has had only one child, a boy by the name of Erik who also lives in Balamb Garden as the only friend of Squall and Rinoa’s boy, Himoto and their girl, Kristie.
Storyline
Small teams of SeeD Cadets have been sent to Timber to help out the resistance groups in their fight for independence. This SeeD field test is the biggest one since the test in Dollet back when Squall became a SeeD. Distributed even among the five resistence groups of Timber, Team A, ((Sidney Trepe, Wil Tilmitt-Kinneas, Bo Tilmitt-Kinneas)), along with two SeeDs, were sent to help the Forest Owls in their plight against the President of Galbadia. Team B ((Erik Dincht, Himoto Heartilly-Leonhart, Kristie Heartilly-Leonhart)) along with a squad of SeeDs, were sent to help the resistence group, the Timber Wolves, as they destroyed camps of soldiers outside of Timber. Other, less-experienced SeeDs were sent to help out the other three groups to fight soldiers in the streets of Deling City, and in Timber.
