We need you!

Future news staffers needed!!! Holding a poetry and short fic writing contest to find you. Hoping to be able to pick out a few good writers to become part of a fast growing gaian newpaper team.

Excepting poems or short stories about anything, perferred topics about movie stars and the lives they live, the war, etc.

Entry fee: 100g

Prize: Winner will receive 1000g + their own entry fee back.

Number of entries: Ten entries, you'll have five days to come up with your poem or short story.

Judges: Myself and the Editor-in-chief of the Gaian Record International, Gear-Richie.

*1st due date will be Aug. 13th.

**If ten people haven't asked to be part of this event by said due date, the first five people will be given the chance to show their stuff and the prize money will be 2500g.

*** If even less than five people ask to be apart of this, they will receive their entry fee back as their prize.

Rules and Regulations

Rules:
1. When entering the contest, please send a pm to T.A.C. letting me know that you are interested and willing to join.

2. Please be sure to send and complete trade for your entry.

3. Please Pm me your poetry or short story. If you post it here, it will be ignored and your gold returned.

4. Plagiarism is a big no no!!

5. These are your poems or short stories, be sure to have fun with it.

6. I have no problems if you post a poem or short story that you have placed in another contest before hand. In truth, I probably wouldn't have seen it in the other contest or such, in the first place.

7. The length of a poem may be up to 54 lines at most. The length of a short story may be up to 2500 words at most.

8. Let it be known that once you've entered the contest and have submitted your 100g. It will not be returned to you, unless you are the winner.

For the story of this month, I'm asking that people please write a scary story in order to go with the demand that is the October, er September, issue of the Gaian Record International. Please please, by all means, type in your stories, or poems, I'm just asking, if you don't mind, could you send me a poem or story that's Halloween-ish!

FAQ

What possible place would a writer like me have in a newspaper? I don't do news writing, I do fiction/poetry!
The Gaian Record International isn't your standard newspaper. The GRI, while presenting news stories, likes to take a more entertaining angle as well, with our comics and stories. Those who win the contest are awarded the title of Feature Writer, who will write whatever type of fictitious or otherwise literature they like, to be added to each month's issue of the GRI under the Features Section. You do not need any journalism experience for this.

Can I use a work that has already been submitted to other contests, or do I have to write a whole new one?
You may enter whatever you like...within reason, of course.

Do you accept short stories that have already been entered into a different contest before? Or do they have to be newly written?

Also, do you have a length limit on short stories?

A newspaper is a great idea, however I would think entries geared more towards journalism would be more appropriate... poets and prose writers do not necessarily make good jounalists, and vice-versa.

Promising Guild...

Just a thought.
