Intro

It's new, it's fun, and it's all the rage. Yeah, I'm talking about the new hit game on gaia. Word Bump! I've been having a riot with it and it seems that so many others have to. So, what's the problem? Well, the game is really new and on top of quite a few glitches there isn't really much explanation on the game leaving us with many very confused gaians. Here's a little place that I'll try to keep full of all the answers and strategies you'll ever need. Hope you find what you need. Proceed.

Bonus Levels

Alrighty, the bonus levels are pretty straight forward but a few of us (inculding myself, at times) are slow. Bonus levels happen every 5 levels. Color spam and chatterbox rotate (color spam one level, chatterbox the next) but Item grants only occur every thirty levels. In bonus rounds your facing the clock, so even if you lose you get to keep playing!

Bonus levels are as follows:

Color spam: When you get one of these bonus rounds you get this message "You don't have to make words! Just click 3 or more tiles of the same color ". Basically, all you have to do is match the same colored tiles. Try and group eight of one color so you can get the round done really fast and get your credits!

Chatterbox - During this round you'll get the message "Just make the word "bump"!". At first I was like " gonk " but guess what? The only letters in the entire round "B" "U" "M" "P". Focus or you'll end up spelling out "PMUB" and other variations of the letters. Again, make sure to go fast by only focusing on the ones above the golden tiles. The prize for completing this level? Some more class credits!
Tip: After you reach the level 30 and recieve the column boost the word BUMP will be in any row. Use that to your advantage

Item Grant - Yeah, it only comes around every thirty rounds but damn it's exciting when it does. The beggining screen has the message "If you get the item tile to the top, you get that item!". But remember, your on a time limit so getting the item to the top like you do the letters won't be as easy. To avoid the stress make sure you have a rainbow ball saved up to boom it right up to the top! If you beat the level the item is all yours. Typically the item will be something from the starter sets but on rare ocassion you may end up with a really nice item or maybe even a pink box! Remember, pink boxes appear randomly just like on the site.

Power-ups!

The power-ups are explained in the sticky but not very well. At first I was like "What are those weird ball things that keep falling under my letters?".

Well, if you have word bump open you'll notice three small orb like circles on the side. You'll also notice that one will fill with red, one with blue, and one with yellow. The way these things fill is that everytime you use a letter of their color they fill with color. So, if you use an all red word the red ball will fill really high!

When you fill one of these balls all the way to the top it will drop and end up beneath your words. The orbs all have different effects.

Power-up effects are as follows:

Sticky - When you fill up the red orb it will drop. If you chose to shoot up the orb it will lock the golden tile you shot it at in place, so it can't drop below the position it's in. Only use these when one of your tiles is in danger of dropping below the screen!

Bump - When you fill up the yellow ball you will get an orb that when shot will knock away the tiles to the right and left. I would only use this power-up if you REALLY need new letters.

Split - Upon filling up a blue ball you get an orb that will knock away the letters around the hit letter in an X shape and give you a fresh new batch. Once again I'd only use this power-up when you're desperate for new letters.

Combining orbs- So, what happens if you don't use an orb? Do they stay down there to use later? Well, if you don't use an orb and another power-up comes rolling down it'll combine with it. So, if you have a red one and a blue one comes rolling down it'll turn into a purple power-up. This power-up will have the effect of both a split and a sticky.

Announce (The rainbow orb)- This, to me, is the best perk in the entire game. The rainbow power-up bumps a golden letter all the way to the top. This comes in SO handy in SO many situations. You can make these by letting all three power-ups group together. I would advice doing this in almost all situation unless you really need to use the other power-ups.

Class credits

I have seen so many threads asking what a class credit it is because it just isn't explained very well in the sticky.

There are three types of class credits and as far as I know they will all be used to purchase class set items from Edmunds shop. The class sets are not currently available but will be soon. For now, just save them up so your ahead of the game when the items are available.

The class credits are as follows:

Bachelor's Credit:
Obtained between 1 and 30.
Amount of credits gaianed per level: 1 at level 5, 2 at level 10, 4 at level 15, 8 at level 20 and 16 at level 25.

Master's Credit:
Obtained between 31 and 60.
Amount of credits gaianed per level: 1 at level 35, 2 at level 40, 4 at level 45, 8 at level 50 and 16 at level 55.

Doctorate's Credit:
Obtained after 60 for the rest of the game.
Amount of credits gaianed per level: 1 at level 65, 2 at level 70, 4 at level 75, 8 at level 80 and 16 at level 85. (This cycle restarts every 25 levels.)

How to view credits: Credits, like tickets are viewable from your main inventory.

Columns

When I say columns I am referring to the amount of rows of letters.

The columns are as follows:

3 columns: Level 1 - 30
4 columns: Level 31- 60
5 columns: Level 61 onwards

Prizes

The prizes for credits have not yet been released but some people found a glitchy way to get in and leaked the items through the marketplace. I wouldn't advice buying these items as you may get yourself into trouble!

Prizes are as follows:

Bachelors Cap
Bachelors Gown
Masters Cap
Masters Gown
Doctorates Cap
Doctorates Gown

Logging in

Word bump is a brand new game and new games are always glitchy. One of the most common problem I've been seeing is that people can not log in. There are a few different methods to solve this. I hope that one of them works for you.

If it's just going to a blank screen try:

Solution one-
1. See the top bar above your browser? Click tools.
2. Once you get to tools click internet options and then delete cookies and delete files. This will clear your cache.
3. Now log off gaia and log back on.
4. It should work the next time you try and play.

If that doesn't work and you're getting to the logging-in screen try:

Solution two-
1. When you have the game loaded up to the place where it freezes left click.
2. If play isn't checked, check it. If it is, uncheck it and recheck it.
3. It will then take you to a screen that will say "Starting Game". Left click again and check play, or uncheck it and recheck it.
4. It should take you to level one and run smoothly from there.

(The play button seems to have been removed, so this method doesn't seem to be valid anymore)

If those two don't work for you there's always the easiest solution:

Solution three-
Just open a new window and paste this in the adress bar "http://graphics.gaiaonline.com/images/Gaia_Flash/WORDBUMP/wordbump0.9.7.swf "

The blank squares of doom!

Another one of those common glitches is people getting these blank squares with no letters mid way through game play. They are a glitch. The good news? We can fix it.

The fix-
Alrighty, I don't know why this works but it does. What you have to do is place the blank spots before the end of your word.

So, say you have the word: Seat
Then you have a whole bunch of blank spaces. Were going to use '*' to represent the blank spaces.
Instead of writing: SEAT
You write: SEA****T

The down side-
With all good comes a bad and though we can fix the problem there is a few down sides.

1. You won't get new letters so if you run out of possible words you're kind of screwed.
2. The game will often freeze the next level

A few things to keep in mind-
1. Use as many blank spaces per word as you can.
2. Use blank spaces from the top.
3. Start using them as soon as they start appearing
4. Try and be really quick with your words because the more word drops the more blank spaces you have to get rid of.

Got a glitch?

Are you having trouble with a glitch in the game? Please report it to me so I can try and figure out a solution. I want to keep this guide really up to date with the glitch problems.

Using two letter words

I just want to make a statement in regards to word lists. The word lists are meant to be a few quick and helpful words for people to remember when stuck with a tricky letter. Having every single word per letter isn't the purpose of these lists. Because of those reasons and my lazy nature I am no longer accepting additions to these word lists though I may make a complete list down the road. Thank you, and please no more PMs regarding this section of the thread.

There are lots and lots of two letter words that the game will accept. These words tend to be words that nobody knew were words so here's a list of them!

Words are listed based on the vowel they contain:

A words- Ag, Al, An, Ar, As, At, Aw, Fa, Ha, Ka, La, Na, Ya

E words- Be, De, Ed, Ef, El, Em, En, Er, Es, Et, Ex, He, Me, Ne, Pe, Re, We, Ye

I words- Hi, Id, In, Is, It , Li, Mi, Pi, Si, Ti, Xi,

O words- Bo, Do, Go, Ho, Jo, Lo, Mo, No, Of, Oh, Om, On, Or, Os, Ow, Ox, Oy, To, Wo

U words- Mu, Nu, Uh, Un, Up

Non vowel words- Gd, Hm, My, Sf

Use two letter letter words is a really good way to get rid of some letters. Remember that if it looks like you can't make any words most vowels work with most common letters such as S, P, M, T, N, G and many more. If you can't see a word just start clicking random letters that seem to appear often and adding a vowel.

Uncommon letters

There are certain letters that will pear up in the game and we'll realise there just aren't many words containing that letter. Often, we will try and look for words that start with that letter but we really should be looking for words that simply contain it. If you're having trouble with a letter heres a list of some words you can make!
Note: Many of these words were given to me by other members. Some of them were also taken from other word lists but all them have been tested by myself or someone I trust.

Z words- Zoo, Zee, Zit, Zip, Zap, Zig, Zag, Jazz, Raze, Razes, Razed, Razor, Ooze, Craze, Crazed, Crazes, Crazy, Putz, Whiz, Froze, Zone, Zoned, Zones, Zany, Freeze, Faze, Froze, Bozo, Wiz, Zoom, Zomg, Zax, Lez, Zone

X words- Tax, Sex, Six, Fox, Lox, Ox, Ax, Fax, Sax, Xi, Exit, Exile, Vox, Vex, Dex, Lux, Lax, Toxins, Pix, Hexes, Pix, Axe

Qu words- Qua, Quick, Queen, Queer, Quite, Quiet, Quip, Quit, Quote, Quim, Quilt, Quate, Quell, Sequence, Squid, Squall, Quibble, Quest, Quests, Quester, Equix, Equinox, Equator, Sequal, Quench

V words: Vee, Vine, Vet, Even, Oven, Vet, Von, Luv, Vie, Van, Var, Vig, Vole, Ave, Vile, Shove, Vote, Voted, Voter, Vim, Vill, Fever

W words- Work, Well, With, Was, Wit, We, Wo, Wiz, Why, Ow, Awe, Who, Whose, Where, When, How, Pew, Wake, Whale, Wail, Wheat, Whee, Wos, Wtf, Woman, Woe, Wen, Bow, Sow, Wee

K words- Kit, Kin, Take, Make, Wick, Toke, Kart, Kiss, Luck, Lick, Ka, Kelp, Kip, Koa, Ack, Aack, Ick, Fake, Lake, Rake, Uke, Took, Knee, Rock

C words- Cab, Camp, Chic, Club, Cub, Cam, Cee, Cheat, Chest, Close, Cog, Come, Cop, Cost, Cot, Cube, Cut, Dock, Ice, Ace, Cod, Comb, Cos, Cosine, Scud, Arc, Rock, Clean, Clip

J words-Jaw, Jeep, Jet, Jew, Jig, Jo, Job, Joe, Join,Joint, Jolt, Just, Jut, Jot, Joy, Jay, Jail, Joke, Jibe, Jug

When dealing with the Q box remember that it is a QU so don't insert a U in the word!

I'm going to keep on adding words and letters. I've verified all these words on the game and doing that takes a long time so please be patient with me on adding new words.

Naughty words

For some reason people really like using naughty words on word bump. I've gathered this list from other people but keep in mind that I haven't tested out all these words so they may not all work.

Here they are: a**s, Arse, a**, Bong, Catamite, Clitoris, Erection, Foreskin, Grope, Ho, Orgasm, Orgy, Pimp, Piss, Poop, Pot, Porn, Reefer, Semen, Sex, Slut, Testicle, Tit, v****a, Whore

Things you may not have known.

Different ways to submit your words-
1. Click sumbit word
2. Double click the last letter of the word
3. Click the enter key on your keyboard.

Other things to remember-
(Many hints were donated by [Tetris]! Thank you!)

1. You can use the letters from the golden word. The letters won't disappear
2. Q has a U attatched to it (As stated before)
3. If you get a rainbow power-up near the end of a level save it for next. You do keep your orbs.
4. This game does not save your progress. If you want to do something finish your level and let it linger on the screen before starting the next level.
5. Credits automatically go to your inventory
6. Even once gold letters get to the top, you can still use them in your words.
7. Letters don't need to be connected.
8. During the Spam bumping when you have 4 rows, you don't need to look around for certain letters because there is the full word 'bump' in each line
9. Try adding 's' to the ends of words. If you do, that'll be another letter gone.
10. British spelling of words count. For example, if you can spell the word 'color,' try looking for an available 'u' to make 'colour.'
11. Keep your eyes on all of your rows, especially when you get up to five rows. Every once in awhile you might slip into a '4 row' mode and completely forget about the other row, thus losing.
12. A good tip is that whenever the gold boxes start out on the very bottom, look for a word that uses all the columns in it first, and then start looking around everywhere else. Most of the time, there is even a word in the boxes right above the starting row.
13. You can use a word more than once.
14. A thing that may help some people is to listen to music while playing, unless you're a person who gets easily distracted with that kind of thing. By listening to music, you'll pick up words from the song and may be able to use them in the game.
15. Proper nouns don't work, but that excludes certain names that have double meanings, (i.e. Mikes, Josh, etc.)

A few things that work for me

Here are a few things that I use to help me get to the higher levels and suceed in this game.

Between levels-
Don't go from level to level, between levels take a quick break. You can
1. Get a drink
2. Post on gaia
3. Check your PMs
4. BREATH.
I find that going from level to level stresses me out. Not everybody's like this but I really like to win, after focusing on the game for 60 levels I space out.

Don't focus on points!-
I've discovered that if I think about getting a high score my letters drop to the bottom. Focus on the letters above your golden tiles and don't worry about the colors of the words. This is a good habit for bonus rounds where you have to be quick.

Look for little words-
It's easier to quickly elimanate words if you look for little ones. Big words take a long time to find and by the time you have there has been a whole bunch of letter drops. Looking for small words keeps your mind working fast.

The point system

If you're really into the gaining points aspect this is the point system.

Points are rewarded as follows:

Every level passed gives you 200 points.

- 3 letter words get you 20 points
- 4 letter words get you 25/30 points
- 5 letter words get you 35 points
- 6 letter words get you 40/45 points

The higher you go you seem to get less points per word.
After level 5 you seem to get 5 points less per word.
I'm not sure if this continues, though.
I've only recorded a few.
The game gets a little too fast to be able to type and click at the same time.

This information may not be completely acurate as it's hard to track these things well playing. The point information was provided by Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate! Thank you!

NEW!

The gold gaining pattern.

The gold gaining pretty much works like this, every level you take the level divide it by two and round it off to the nearest number. This is really quite simple but incase your the type of person who likes to see thing all written out we have listed the point game by level for you.

Since the last update to word bump we now make much less gold. The new chart has been adapted by The Maou Shibuya! Fiye originally wrote up this information for my guide and I simply organized her writtings. Thank you Fiye!

The number after the equal sign (=) is the total gold you will have if you make it to that level.
