The Gaian
Retreat Newsletter
Written one-armed and in a Vicodin-induced haze by Izukiel

Hello once again, and welcome to
another grand installment of the Gaian Retreat Newsletter! This is the
editor and main writer of the newsletter, Izukiel (obviously!), here to
tell you what's new and what's eww lately on Gaia! Yeah, short
introduction, I know, but Vicodin does that to people, so let's begin
while I'm conscious! =D
April Collectibles!
Everyone knows that Gaia Online dropped a bombshell about two
days before the letters came out, saying that they were going to
release THREE items in this letter instead of two. As if we weren't
freaking out about budget for buying the letters already! The three
items that came out were totally awesome, and I'm predicting that some
prices are going to shoot up!
First up is the Lunar Scythe! Schwing-schwing! Impressive,
formidable, intimidating, the scythe has been used to scare and inspire
for many centuries now. The most popular use of the scythe is the
traditional Grim Reaper, although scythes are actually practical
farming tools. However, they're a lot more fun to swing through the
air! The Lunar Scythe has several positions, including several hand
positions, as well as a Crescent Moon version, some back mounts, and
two scythe slashes through the air! Very sweet. I have a very strong
feeling this item is going to go WAY up in value over time, so invest
while you can!
Next up is the Aquatica. A strange fishy bottom that you can
apply to give yourself a fish or shark bottom, a dashing hairpin, a
very attractive bikini-like top (If you've seen a seashell bikini top,
then you know what I mean), an evil-looking crown, a shark-inspired
chestplate, a school of fish swimming around you Aqua-man style,
bubbles around you like a scuba diver without a tank, and green bubbles
like a person swimming in the Durem Reclamation Facility. Don't tell
them I made that joke, they might get mad.
Lastly are the Oculus Magica, which are magical eyes that can
transform your entire face! The first set is the Evil Eye look, the
next is the adorably cute look, complete with Roses. Then we have the
blurred look, good for hiding your identity. Heck, go put it on then
streak through Gaia! No, seriously, don't, we don't want to see that.
Next is the cartoony "I smashed my head against a wall too many times"
look, complete with circling birds and stars! Good for you people who
get hit a lot. Next is the Crimson Cross, which looks a lot like a
Demoness look. Very good at attracting those wild tomcat demons that
roam around. Next is the Ice Fairy look, Complete with two small
hairpins. Next we have the Rainbow setting, which is pretty much a
puppy face with purple eyes and two rainbows for environment. Then
there's the Water Meat setting, for those of you who envied the Water
Meats from the Christmas bash. Then, my personal favorites, the
Devilish and Devilish Streak settings, which look like burning coals of
hell, one with streaks and one without. Very awesome. The next is the
Twinkle look, which is basically two golden diamond twinkles (if you've
seen cartoon movie stars, you know what I'm talking about) for eyes.
Then there's the fire setting, which must be what happens when you see
your parents naked together. Basically, flames are shooting out of
your eyes. Lastly is the Electrica setting, which has bolts of
electricity shooting out of your eyes! Someone call Raiden!
I'd personally get my hands on all three of these as soon as possible.
I'm not so determined about the Aquatica and the Oculus Magica, but
I've been wrong about donation items before. I have a definite feeling
that the Lunar Scythe will go up, however. That's just a guarantee,
knowing how weapons go here on Gaia.
Easter!
Ah, yes, Easter. The holiday we celebrate involving crosses,
nails, martyrs, and colored eggs. This Easter, you could either browse
the site and collect eggs as they floated around the screen, much like
last year, or you could go into the Towns and collect them. The only
difference between the two is that the eggs in the Towns could only be
sold for money, whilst the eggs that floated around the screen could be
traded at the Barton Exchange for items. However, the items royally
stunk! A small, medium, and large chicki?!? What's the point of
those?!? At least last year's items had some variation! A tail, a
shirt, some ears, stuff like that! Plus, the robot Easter Bunny was
nowhere to be found. Not cool at all.
Gaia Cinema!
The coolest thing ever came out for Gaia lately! The admins
truly came up with a masterful innovation. The Gaia Cinema is one of
the most interesting things I've seen on the site to date, save for the
Zurg code during the Zurg Event, and even that was a bit dull compared
to this! In the Cinema, you can choose from one of seven videos right
now. The main features are two movies. One is the classic Night of
the Living Dead, one of the best movies ever made, and Prehistoric
Women, which is one of the cheesiest movies ever made!
Then there is a selection of five safety videos: Dating Do's
and Don'ts, Duck and Cover, One Got Fat, Soaphy the Germ Fighter, and
Your Posture. Personally, I find that all of them are kind of amusing,
but One Got Fat is the sickest but funniest of them all. I would
definitely recommend getting over to the Announcements Board, looking
up the Cinema announcement, and then looking up the showtimes and
getting yourself a theater! Even if you aren't into the movies,
there's always fun in throwing stuff! Speak during the film, throw
tomatoes, popcorn, and fireballs, use laser pointers, throw kisses, and
enjoy a variety of foods that you can obtain from the Snack Bar! It's
all free!
The only thing I find to be a downside to the Gaia Cinemas are
the bugs. There are several issues with connecting to the server, many
buffering issues, and also a couple of problems where the movie stops
and flips back to the Gaia Ads. It's very annoying at times.
Banners, etc.
Seeing that my arm is in an immobilizer cuff, and my mind is
clouded by the likes of ibprofen and Vicodin, and so I sadly admit that
this isn't the best newsletter I have ever written. Do not be sad,
however! I will be back and blazing in May, and June, well, June won't
be a problem. Trust me.
The End? But, but, there's so much more!
I know there's so much more, but I can honestly say that I've
covered the important things. Next month, the Newsletter will be like
nothing you've ever seen before, with custom banners, pictures to show
what you're missing, and more! This iS Izukiel, telling you to enjoy
the rest of April!
