Welcome to the Heralds' Summer Masquerade! This is a metaplot event to celebrate the shop's recent 1000 pages. Almost a year ago, the gypsies set up camp nearby. Now, they are having a party!

07.24.06 BIG NEWS!
+ The Event has an ENDING DATE! Monday, July 31, at NOON CST, all Role-playing MUST be completed. Soon after, the search 'criminal' will be unmasked, and then the thread will be open to normal speech (NOT BEFORE). Also, there will be about a 2 hour period to allow the last tickets to be awarded. Hopefully by 2pm CST on Monday, the raffle will commence and the winners announced.
+ Page 69 A little girl has been kidnapped, and it is up to YOU to look for her/clues to her saving. For now, find the black feathers. Things will be updated on post 9 of the first page... (note: if that is too difficult to get the number, the point amount will be increased)
+ Page 69 The last and final tent will be open. This will occur along with the search, so you will -at some point- have to follow the directions to claim some free points from the search.

+ Also, this is a little unrelated, but it will be a way to get points AFTER Noon CST on July 31.

There are some rules that you need to follow.

+ This is an RP Event! Anything posted MUST be a Role-Play Post. If you have questions or want to say something put it in double parrantheses like (( )) or brackets like [ ] or something else so that we know it is an OOC comment. Do NOT post if it is not a RP, period. The reason for this is that each post is counted up to decide how many points each person receives.

+ RP in character only.... Just... SOME character. If you haven't yet decided what your character will be like, then just pick ONE of your options. And remember, your character must be in a mask! This IS a masquerade...

+ Do not RP a Herald unless you have one. No dream Heralds or anything like that.... just already existing Heralds, and this also applies to those that have Heralds but they are not grown to the second stage.

+ You can RP other "pets" from other shops if you have permission to do so. We are going to ASSUME that if you post them here, you have permission to RP them outside of the shop you have them from. So, if you do this and were not supposed to, we are not responsible.

+ The setting is a "Gaia" setting... humans are NOT the only beings here. We have angels, wizards, witches, demons, and more... you are not limited.

+ ALL SHOP RULES APPLY! This includes the RP rules; like no god-modding, etc.

What is the Summer Masquerade?
It was a local tradition. Okay, so it wasn't that local, but it was a tradition. It was hosted by the gypsies; and since they were not a people that stayed in one place very often, they tended to take their traditions with them. Their influences, however, made an impact on the community. They loved summer, and it was usually in the season of autumn that they moved on. Every summer, they hold a masquerade as a kind of "goodbye". Rarely, they will not move on, but hold the event anyways.

Setting:
This year, the gypsies cleaned up the clearing where they had camped. In the middle a large tent was set up, with little tents around it. Behind those, larger tents and wagons rested. They were not decorated, for they were the housing areas for the gypsies. It was their privacy that was to be protected here, and no balame (non-gypsies) are allowed! The others were open tents. A common area (big tent) with marketstall style tents surrounding it. All was decorated with lanterns, lighting, and decorations.

In Role-Play... the whole event will happen over the span of one night. It will end when the sun comes up or everyone leaves; whichever happens first.

Invites:
Everyone in the community was mailed an invite. It was a rolled parchment with an orange ribbon; and dangling nicely was a miniature mask. Each one was different (if you compared to others) but breath-taking in its artistic delight. When unrolled, this message was revealed:

Good day to you!

As you may have known, our Gypsy Clan has been in your community for about a year now. It will soon be time for us to leave. We will not wilter away in the wind; but instead we would like to thank you for your kindness and hospitality.

Our campsite will be transformed, for the celebrations of our annual Summer Masquerade. We ask that you come masked, but that is all. We hope to see you there.

What are Points?
Everything you do will result in gaining points. They are just that, points, and will be used for the prizes. Essentially, 1 point = 1 raffle ticket

How do I get Points?
There are some methods to getting points.
Oktoberfest - Last October, Heralds had an extended event. Participants got points for their troubles. Not only that, their points will be doubled to thank them for being one of the few who particpated. You can no longer get points through this way.
Page 1000 - The first person on the shop's thread gets 10 points. The last person gets 7. Everyone else who posted will get 5 points. For each additional post on that page, they will get 1 extra point. You can no longet get points through this way.
Masquerade - Yes, you'll get points for just coming to this event and RPing. Just for coming, you will get 4 points, and then for every 4 RP posts after that you will get another.
Mod Events - Go HERE for more information.
Banner in Sig - For every 7 days your signature has the Event banner in it, you will get an extra 2 points. ::See last post on Front Page for details::
Purchase - You can also buy points. They are 500 gold each and there is a limit to buying 15 points. They are high because we want people to EARN points, and there is a limit for the same reason. But, this is still an option for you. Send trades to this mule (Herald) and title it with how many points you are purchasing.

How will points be "used"?
At the end of the event, there will be two raffles. One for non-owners, and another for Herald owners. The prizes will be different as well.

Can I reserve numbers?
Nope, sorry, but that would create unnecessary mayhem.

There are 2 (two) prizes that will given out at the end of the event. There are also two categories.

Non-owners' points will be raffled to win......

Now, what could that be......? Yes... a pre-made adult Herald! It is a he, but his sacrifice will be a mystery. But I will say this: HE IS A HEART-THROB... and done by the much talented bw-inc!

Owners' (those who already have a Herald) points will be raffled to win......

A custom item/pet that will come either on it's own certificate or be able to be added to your herald's art. This will be done by your herald's artist.

All three Mod's will have their own gypsy character who will play an important part in the events. There character will be the "police force" of the Masquerade.

Fortune Teller
Not much is known about her. She is RPed by Sarielle, who is not an actual Mod of this event (though she is the much-loved owner of the shop). The Fortune Teller does not go by any other name... not even the gypsies know it. She is the eldest of the group, and the leader of the troupe. They all look up to her, and it is by her graces that the celebration was allowed to occur... despite her falling ill before it, and the bad omen she saw.
Omen: Dark wings shrouded the moon of the celebration night.

Zoni
He is RPed by EchoLimaFoxtrot. The son of the Fortune Teller, he will spend most of the celebration at his mother's side. Her main role is to keep away Elf, a small human would otherwise bring evil spirits and bad things to ruin the Masquerade. He inherited some of his mother's mystical powers and despite anything Elf does, he is able to find the human and kick her out. Other than that, he is usually left in the shadows... and you don't know he's there until you feel his breath on the back of your neck.

Kizzy
She is RPed by Suboshi-sama. She is brightly dressed with a personality to match. She wanderes aimlessly around the festival, flute in hand, ready to play songs for those who ask...well, those who pay. She ends her circuit of the festival at the center tent, relaying the information of the going-ons that she picked up under the guise of a musician to the Fortune Teller.

There are some other characters who will show up... and their mysteries will be displayed in time....

These are the events the Mods will be hosting independently of each other.

Random Events
Host: Suboshi-sama/Owle Isohos/EchoLimaFoxtrot
Plotline: These are completely random... meaning they will probably happen unannounced... or maybe with a 10 minute warning. First-come; First-serve!
How to claim points: Will be announced with the RP Post. All these are IC.
Numbers of points available: Random... who knows!
Status: Random, but available.
Random Event 1: Magical Wooden Kitchen Utensils : DONE
Random Event 2: HUNT for Little Caitlyn : Til end of Event

Elf Sightings
Host: EchoLimaFoxtrot.
Plotline: Her character, Elf, is the only person not welcome at the event. This has to do with previous RP. When she went to the gypsy fortune teller's tent a year ago, she was kicked out... and the fortune teller was concerned that Elf would bring bad luck and evil spirits and scare away the good spirits that assisted her. While she is not welcome, Elf still wants in on the fun, and tries to hang around the Masquerade whenever she can.
How to claim points: When ELF posts an RP post with the phrase ((OMG! There's an Elf! What's SHE doing here?)), the first 1-5 people to post -ALONG WITH AN RP RESPONSE and in bolded green- ((There she is, get her! She'll take us to a pot of gold!)) will get the points!
Numbers of points available: 3 each time
Status: Not available yet!

Dance Contest
Host: Kizzy (Suboshi-sama)
Plotline: To liven things up, Kizzy gathers several musicians for a dance contest. There will be several rounds, with each round-winner recieving a small prize, and a final round, with the winners of the previous rounds competing against eachother for a grand prize.
Prizes: For each winner of the smaller rounds, they will receive 3 points, and the grand prize will be 10 points or a WTF?Herald!.
How to win:I will post Kizzy announing the start of the contest, and roll a 100 sided die. When you post your character entering the contest (xD Yes, they must DANCE!), roll 1 (one) 100 sided die. The person who comes closest to the number I rolled will win.
Status: Not open yet.

Something has happened!

Everyone was busy with their own thing: eating, dancing, arguing with Zoni; that they all failed to notice the disappearance of one lone little gypsy girl. It wasn't until the mother, hysterical with fear, ran around the camp screeching for her baby and disturbing the peace.

After searching around, all that was found was long, black feathers. Who could possibly have left behind such a thing?

The celebration was going off without a hitch. Zoni was confident that, despite the troublesome Elf who needed to be kept out, nothing was going to go wrong. That was of course, until the scream.

Immediately after, a young gypsy woman ran to the main tent breathless. She was screeching unintelligible words trying to tell her story to anyone who would listen. Zoni was sitting comfortably and watching the crowd for a certain blue-haired human; but, when he saw one of his own, a new mother named Annya, in such a state of mind the man was concerned. He got to his feet immediately and made his way to her.

"Annya," Zoni reached her and held her shoulders in his hands so she was facing him. "What happened? No," he stopped her, "take a deep breath first so we can understand your speech."

Annya did as she told, and having the Fortune Teller's son right there gave her some calm in order for her to tell. Through the tears in her eyes, she told what happened. "I was selling scarves all night and told Kaitlinn to stay near," she told of her daughter. "She always does as she's told, she's a good girl. I saw her playing marbles earlier with some other children. A short time ago I called her to get more scarves from our wagon, but she didn't come. I asked more and she still never came. I was worried, so I went to search for her. She was nowhere to be found.... until." Annya sniffed as she paused. "I found her marbles and her scarf. Kaitlinn never leaves her marbles, or her scarf that she left behind... I am sorry I screamed but she's gone, I know it... someone has kidnapped my baby!"

Zoni looked at the woman in surprise. "Are you sure she was... kidnapped? She isn't just hiding?"

The mother shook her head, "No, she wouldn't hide that long." Annya was sure, she knew her daughter well. "Kaitlinn is a good child, and she loves that scarf. It is hard enough to take it away for her baths."

The gypsy man looked around and sighed. What would a search do? Doubtful the girl is even gone, and it would put Annya's heart to rest. "Alright, I'll have a search of the grounds. She'll show up, I'm sure of it."

Though she was still doubtful that her daughter was just around the party, she agreed with him. They could try to find evidence! "Alright..."

Zoni turned her around and back to her tent, "You go rest, we'll take care of it."

Annya walked off with two other gypsies with her to offer her support.

When she was gone, the man took the stage with a heavy heart. He didn't want anyone to worry, but they seemed like the would help. "Hello everyone. It has come to my attention that a small girl has gone missing. She was playing marbles and now cannot be found. If everyone would help to find her... it would be appreciated."

RULES! Let the search begin.
+With every RP of your search, generate a number between 1 and 100. For just searching you will get 3 points, and if you generate a 36, then you will get 4 more points. This can happen more than once!

+Keep in mind, you have to RP with everyone post and roll.
+Have your character look anywhere. Be creative. Even look under rocks, who knows when evidence will come up.
+You can work in groups.

+Important: When you generate a number 50-59, the evidence that you will find -each time- is a perfectly shaped, black feather. You will NEED to edit the post!
+ PM the mule (Herald) what page you generated a number in the 50s so we can keep track of it!

This search will go on until the END of the event -where if will be concluded-, so you can try however many times you like. You only get the 3 searching points once, though. Keep in mind there might be other events going on, including chances to find other clues! Enjoy the hunt.

Also, please note this! At the conclusion of the event, the culprit will be unmasked ninja

If you generate a 51-59 - FIND A FEATHER -- they come in different size but a lovely glossy black. Who left them? How long was this person here?
--- Will receive 5 points

If you generate a 1 // 100 // 50 - FIND A LOST MARBLE -- they are shiny, and mostly smooth except for a large gouge on them all. Like bread crumbs maybe?
--- Will receive 10 points

If you generate a 66 - FIND A CLOTH -- it was torn and is a dark red-burgundy. There seems to be a pattern, but as it is frayed and just a piece, the pattern cannot be discerned.
--- Will receive 15 points

If you generate a 33 - FIND A DROP OF BLOOD -- Oh my, what is that? Is that blood *faints*
--- Will receive 15 points
