HOW TO QUEST
I get asked quite often how exactly to "quest." And its not exactly an easy answer so heres my best attempt at how to help you quest successfuly.
Step 1) Make your quest thread and reserve yourself at least 5 posts. You will want room to Introduce yourself, your quest, a place for your donators, your quest status and more. So plan out what you want to show, say and do and reserve the posts for it.
Step 2) Put effort into your thread. If you want to appeal to donators, you have to show effort and dedication. Setting up a style, theme, look and organization for your thread is the best way. Since it takes a while for people to get to know you, sadly looks count first. Maybe draw something, or just use the color options and organize things and show you are at least trying to make it easy for them and that you care.
Step 3) Get attention and make friends. The most important aspect of questing, as far as I'm concerned is your friends. You need that more then you need gold and items. Without freinds, first off your not using a message board for its true purpose. Second, you need to have people to help you and get your name out, donate to you or just plain bump and keep you company and keep your spirits up. The best way to do this? Go out and bump other peoples threads. Start conversations and make freinds, and maybe even donate a LITTLE of your gold to others who are just starting or need help. It shows your kindness and people respond to that. I Know i would NEVER have finished my quest without my dear friends. Likewise make sure you thank your donators properly.
Step 4) When you have enough pure gold and if you are questing for a donation item, invest pure gold into other items. Pure gold does not grow, items do. If your after a 5000 doantion item, next month it may be worth 6-7 thousand. Gold however is the same no matter what. So invest it, that way whatever youve earned keeps up with your goal.
Step 5) Dont give up. My quest lasted 2 years, 6 months and 8 days. You cant give up or people will lose respect for you, but the opposite is true. The more you try, the more respect you get.
Step 6 and 7 are optional if you can pull them off.
Step 6) Find a skill or something you can sell. If you can draw, make pets, or do SOMETHING you can sell, do it. I couldnt draw or make anything, so i couldnt do this.
Step 7) If you are the kinda person who can donate money to gaia. Do so. Send in money and get donation letters and sell them, earn gold and move foward on your quest.
