Yup, 'cause I love pokemon. ^^ It's not going to be the most beautiful story ever, but I felt an urge to write one, and you'll see that here. What you see is what there is; there is no story already put together, I'm building it here. Which means that I don't have all of the chapter names yet. Feel free to comment between "chapters." Please remember that there won't be VERY long segments of the story, but pokemon fans will probably be reading this. If you don't like pokemon, don't come and bash it here, or I'll bash you. Capiche? Oh, and yes, there'll be romance here. you'll pick it up quickly. biggrin

I also still need a name for it....hm....well, that'll come later. Any suggestions welcome....

If you see any spelling errors, could you tell me? I try to pick them out, but I might miss some things. ^^

CHAPTERS:

More coming, but I only have 1-3 planned out so far.
The Dishtowel is Flying...Again

Samantha Jinx. In this world, you think of the weird pokemon that likes paralyzing things with kisses. In Samantha's world...well, you'd think the same thing. But you wouldn't say that. Not to Sammi. You'd be too afraid. For a fifteen year old, only standing at about five feet, four inches, she could be quite intimidating when she chose to be Not that she looked different or acted different then other girls her age. not that much different, at least. Her hair was to her mid back, a straight, golden-blond color. Her hair was cut so her bangs hung over her right eye, though the bangs were dyed a vibrant violet color. Freckles dotted her nose; she wasn't especially pale or tan, she looked like she got a healthy amount of sun. But then there were her eyes. They were a bright, vivid, powerful lime green color, like a lush plant untouched by any evils, whether they be pollution or even the faintest bit of negativity. And Sammi's eyes weren't always green. Sammi was...special, you see. Sabrina, the Kanto gym leader, was her cousin. Yes, you can guess from here, Sammi could manipulate objects with her mind. She was telekinetic and telepathic. For those who don't know what that means, she could move objects with her mind and read the thoughts of others, leading to her being able to open a mental communication, if she so chose to. Back to her eyes, when Sammi used her power, her eyes were turn a pale purple color. Other than this, Sammi was your normal, average, teenage pokemon trainer. She has spent most of her life living with her grandmother, learning about different herbs and the like, all the while training her few pokemon...

* * * * *

"Ew. I'm not wearing that."

Glaring that the woman in front of her, Sammi wrinkled her nose. Her grandmother's plump, wrinkled face folded slightly as she frowned in agitation, holding up the black dress a little higher, as if thinking if the dress caught a different light, it would seem more appealing to her grand-daughter.

"Samantha dear," she began, but Sammi scowled and shook her her head firmly.

"I refuse to wear that," she said. She pointed to the dress. "I see those little pink roses. I'm not wearing that dress."

Indeed, cleverly hidden in the folds and trim of the dress were little pink roses. The dress itself wasn't remotely unattractive. It was long, it would have reached Sammi's knees. The dress cut diagonally at the skirt, and was sleeveless at the top. The skirt was layered, where the flowers were hidden. It was form-fitting, quite attractive, but Sammi hated dresses.
Sighing, her grandmother shrugged reluctantly.

"Fine, dear," she said in her reedy voice. Sammi's lips curled slightly into a triumphant smile, but her grandmother wasn't finished yet. "But you do need to wear a dress. I'm sorry dear, but it's tradition. I thought you'd like the black."

At this, Sammi rolled her eyes. Oh, so if black was her preferred color to wear, that automatically made a black dress fine with her? Sammi glanced down at her current attire, her usual attire; a dark violet tank top and black hip huggers, with bare feet. Her hair was pulled in a braid. She the violet curtain of hair from her eyes. Unlike most dark-clad females of her generation, her nails weren't painted, but actually neatly trimmed, her fingers long and delicate.

"Gamma," she said, addressing her grandmother, "I don't like dresses. Please, could I wear nice pants and a shirt?"

"No," 'Gamma' repeated sternly. "It just won't do."

Sammi scowled, clenched her fists, opened her mouth, shut it, then turned on her heel and stormed off of the battle field, located in her grandmother's kitchen. She went down the hall of the small cottage, consisting of only two bedrooms, a sitting room, a bathroom, the kitchen, and a front porch, to her room, and slammed the door once she was inside. She flopped onto her simple bed, a white wooden frame with a blue blanket-adorned mattress on it. Her walls were white and blank, save a pokemon poster of all of the starter pokemon and a large, golden framed mirror on opposite walls.

Sammi hated dresses. Special occasion or not, she didn't care how many important people were going to be there. She would not wear a dress.
She looked up as she heard a slight knock at her door.

"What?" she demanded. her grandmother cleared her voice from the other side of the door.

"Dearie," she said gently. "I need to make dinner....but the dishtowel is flying again." Sammi couldn't help but smile, which calmed her down. When she was angry, her 'powers' got a touch out of hand, and the dishtowel seemed the most common victim from the kitchen. Now that she calmed down, the dishtowel would fall to the floor. "Thank you, dear," her grandmother said.

Sighing, Sammi ran a hand through her hair as she heard her grandmother bustle away. Pulling a pokeball from the silver belt at her waist, she released a pokemon; her Umbreon, a fitting pokemon for her. Four other pokeballs hung at her waist, containing her Nuzleaf, Sandrew, Swellow, and Vulpix. She never travelled with her pokemon, only training with them in the forests outside of her hut, which was located near Fortree, by the lake.. She planned on travelling soon. It wasn't that she was isolated, some freaky forest girl who would scream about moving pictures if she saw a television (she had one in her room) but she was a tad isolated from other teens her age. She didn't mind though; there weren't many youths in Fortree.

Stroking Umbreon's head, she laid back in her bed, feeling the pokemon slip from her fingers reach, then the bed sag as he jumped up and laid across her feet. Rubbing his stomach with a toe, she looked out the window at the moon, surrounded by stars. She blinked slightly. She hadn't realized how late it was. Yawning, she got up, changing methodically into blue hibiscus print pajama bottoms and a pink night shirt withe a Togetic on it, placed her belt carefully on her nightstand, then crawled back under the covers of her bed and fell asleep.

* * * * *
When she awoke the next morning, Sammi opened her eyes to the dress hanging cleverly on the back of her floor.

"I'm not wearing it!" she called as she rolled out of bed. For a moment she didn't to levitate her body, her eyes turning pale purple, so she didn't land on her sleeping Umbreon, who had decided to sleep next to the bed instead of on it. Nudging him away wit her foot, she dropped herself, shaking her head slightly. Making a person float, as cool as it sounds, can take a lot of mental strain.

Returning the Umbreon to its pokeball, she picked up her belt and clipped his pokeball back on. Yawning, she ran a hand through her hair and tossed the belt on the bed, walked to her small closet. Examining the contents for a brief moment, she reached in and pulled out a black t-shirt and baggy purple pants. Putting these on, she took her belt and wrapped it around her waist. Next, she opened the door and made her way to the bathroom, where she brushed her teeth while listening to her grandmother bustle about the kitchen preparing breakfast. Splashing some water on her face, she picked up a brush and ran it quickly through her hair, the scents of the home cooked meal drawing her to the table.

"Samantha, dear," her grandmother said, once she was sure Sammi's mouth was so stuffed with bacon and eggs that she wouldn't be able to verbally object, "I've been thinking a lot recently."

Sammi eyes her curiously over her glass of milk, which she was draining to rid her mouth of food in case she had to speak. "About what?"

Sighing, she old woman studied her hands, folded in her lap. "You won't be staying with me forever, of course," she said slowly. "A young lively girl like you will want to see the world, to train your pokemon or do whatever is it girls your age do." She looked up and smiled gently at a confused Sammi. "Darling," she said slowly, "I want you to go travel the world. I know I'm always saying I need you here, but I can't keep you my little girl forever. Look at you, you're already fifteen. Go out and see the world, Samantha, just don't forget to write often."

Sammi only stared for a moment. As of today, Gamma had talked of only what a great help her little Samantha was, and how she could never get by without her. If Sammi even mentioned travel, Gamma would merely glance at her and say, "How far away is Fortree? I need you to travel there to deliver some things," and the conversation was over. Sammi stood up uneasily, but a smile was creeping onto her face.

"Really Gamma?" she asked, a grin now etched into her features. "Will you be alright? Can I really?" When her grandmother nodded, she let out a cry of joy and threw her arms around the old woman. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" she whispered into her ear. "When will I - can I leave?"

She met her grandmother's eyes, she had never realized what a bright color of blue they were. "Today, dear, while it's early and sunny," the woman replied. Sammi blinked, grinned again, then, without a word, turned and raced to her room. Throwing open her closet doors, she reached in and pulled out three shirts and three pairs of pants, though she didn't pause to see what they were. She then ran for her underwear and shorts, all in a separate dresser. Shoving these into a back pack, she dove back to her closet, digging around until she found her old pair of black combat-style boots, which, amazingly, still fit her perfectly.

She threw back open the door to her room, nearly colliding with her grandmother in the process. "I've got everything, Gamma," she said, holding up her back pack. Her grandmother nodded.

"But I want you to have something," the old woman said, holding out a wrapped parcel to her granddaughter. It was mine, all those years ago when I travelled with my Farfetch'd." From her early years, Sammi vaguely remembered the pokemon, though he had passed away when she was still very young.

Slowly, Sammi dropped her pack and took the wrapped...whatever it was. Carefully tearing away the paper, a rich violet colored cloth met her eyes. Holding it up, she saw it was a travelling cloak. Wrapping it around her, she straightened the hood before connecting the two golden clasps, that when clipped made a pokeball.

"It kept me warm and dry," the old woman said, gazing fondly at the cloak as it brought back memories. "I hope it does the same for you."

Once more, Sammi threw her arms around her grandmother. "I'll visit you as often as I can," she promised. "Once I become strong, I'll make you proud."

"You already have," the woman whispered, before bending down and picking up the backpack. She placed it in Sammi' hands. "I have some food for you in the kitchen, I hope you have room for it," she said with as much false cheer as she could muster. Once she was sure she granddaughter was properly packed with everything she could ever need in any situation, she brought her to the front door. She smiled at the thought of her dishtowels never again being air-born.

"Deliver this to the Pokemon Cetner when you pass through Fortree," the old woman intructed, handing a bag of medicine to Sammi, who nodded hurriedly as she took it.

Sammi nearly tripped down the front steps in her excitement as she waved over her shoulder. "Bye Gamma!" she called. "I love you!"

"I love you too," she old woman called back. "Don't forget to write!"

Sammi could just manage to call, "I won't," before she took off, full force, towards her first destination in Fortree.

Awsome Rina this is rele cool ur an awsome writer. I can't wait to read the rest of ur chapers!! heart heart
Please put spaces between the paragraphs so that it's easier to read. Giant blocks of text are hard on the eyes.
I second that. Plus bolding any dialogue draws the reader's attention to it rather than reading the fic.
Ok. ^^ I'll change those. Thanks!
Yay! Chapter 1 is officially done!
Rat Problems

Laughter echoed through the trees of Fortree, and diving into the Pokemon Center was their source. It was a boy of seventeen, which was enough to draw accusations of guilt in this town. But, then again, Miken was often in trouble, with just about everyone, so he drew the accusations no matter what age he was.

Panting, he looked behind him through the doors. As someone walked in, he could just barely hear faint screams.

"You stupid, stinking little rat! I'll smack you upside the head with a broom, I will!"

These threats only brought more laughter from the boy. Running a hand through his fiery red hair he took a deep breath. He still wore a grin on his tanned face, a result of his many hours spent outdoors when he trained and briefly travelled with his pokemon. But he didn't travel for a very long time. Surprisingly, he was needed in this town. Or at least, he was.

Miken Tennifer's story goes something like this: When he was young, only seven or so, his mother became gravely ill. His father had long since abandoned them when Miken was too young to even remember the man, so the only person who could take care of the sick woman was her young son. Soon, the treatment became repetitive and easy, leaving Miken with a lot of free time and energy and no way to vent it. So he began to act out. Between helping his mom and blowing up pokeballs in the forest, he led a busy life and was often in trouble. But three years ago, his mother heard of a treatment facility in Pacifidilog, and was eager to leave. That left a fourteen year old trouble maker with a lot more time than he usually had, living alone in his own house. He travelled for a year, a brief relief to the town, but returned only with trained pokemon and a heightened sense of adventure. You can assume where he gets his bad reputation from.

The shrieking voice scolding him this time was an old man whose evening stroll had been interrupted by the classic exploding pokeball on the side of the road. Miken had lots of money, coming from a rich family, so a supply of pokeballs was always at his disposal. There was no prize for the person who guessed who caused it.

But Miken didn't care. Still grinning, he drew a pokeball from his belt and released his Raichu. If anything or anyone was a rat, it was the electrical rat that followed him everywhere and helped with his mischief. Everyone knew the pair, Miken and Fuse, the dynamic duo. Fuse had the same streak of trouble his owner had, which was a blessing for Miken and a curse on the village.

Yawning, Miken was already bored of his antics and sat down on a chair, examining his old, plain black sneakers. Noticing a tear in the knee of his baggy blue jeans, he stuck a finger through it, widening it slightly. Content with it's look, he glanced in a mirror, running a hand once more through his hair, which was falling into his steely grey eyes. Hey, that's what gave it it's spike after all. Today he wore a black hooded sweatshirt, most likely over a black t-shirt of some sort. Miken wasn't goth, but he certainly didn't go around clad in a rainbow. He was proud of his "bad-boy" look, almost as much as he was proud of his skills with pokemon battles. Miken rarely lost, and when he did, you could bet the path of the winning trainer was already rigged with something big and explosive.

It wasn't that Miken ever intended to hurt anyone. He never did. But he could give you a fair startle if something next to you suddenly caught fire. But Miken was always prepared. He had a pokemon for every disaster. His Golem, Stone, tended to any issue caused by the jarring of rocks when something detonated. His Golduck, Hydro, took care of the fires. His Sceptile Terra was obtained in a trade from an owner who could no longer take care of her, and tended to any injuries, being a very "motherly" pokemon. The Lapras dubbed Mystic made for quick getaways across water, not very helpful to the victims unless she helped put out fires. Machoke, Muscle, was the strength of the operations, and Fuse was usually the one who detonated the random object of the day. That completed Miken's current pokemon team, though of course he had more in the PC Box.

Miken knew the Pokemon Center was a safe haven for him when he was in trouble, seeing as the Nurse Joys there seemed to either like or pity him and allowed him to take refuge there until the heat was off. On the rare occasion that he was thoroughly chased, he was even granted the privilege of hiding in a closet. Not even the nurses knew why they helped the trouble-maker, he had a certain charm about him that appealed to the younger nurses. If the Joy was around his age, hiding wasn't a problem. Miken could have be considered handsome if he stood in one place long enough for someone to get a good look at him. The older nurses saw him as classy, amusing, and they would nod wisely and say "He's just a boy." It was these thoughts and actions that helped Miken get away with so much in the town.

Slumping in his seat slightly, he grinned at Fuse, who hopped up into the chair next to him.

"How was that, huh buddy?" he asked. "Did you see that guy jump? Bet that gave his pacemaker a workout, huh?"

"Rai!" Fuse chimed happily. While he couldn't communicate in words, they shared the special bond of pokemon and trainer. Just the tone of voice or Fuse's body movements told Miken nearly exactly what the pokemon was trying to say. Being an only child, Miken shared the benefits of having a sibling through Fuse, without the arguing.

Standing, Miken walked to a vending machine, pulling out some money and slipping it in. He was now officially bored, and hungry. Buying a few snack bars, he handed one to Fuse and took one for himself, leaning against a wall while he tore it open and bit into it.

It was about then that the doors opened once more.

* * * * *

"Hi, um, uh, I'm here to deliver something? From my grandmother?"

Drumming her fingers nervously on the counter, Sammi watched the Nurse Joy smile gently and take the package from her, talking about how they needed whatever it was that was being delivered. But Sammi wasn't really paying attention. She was lost in thought about where she would be going, what she planned on doing, when she would visit and come back.

So she didn't notice the curious look she was getting from a certain Pokemon Center resident and his pokemon. Sure, she was dressed a tad strangely, being covered completely in the large cloak her grandmother had given her, but it was comfortable and warm, and Sammi found nothing wrong with it.

But Miken, he saw a newbie trainer with a few good pokemon and no clue about what was going on. Sadly, for him, he was only partially right. But to Miken, being partially right was still being right, and he saw easy prey for a pokemon battle. Someone new to the game who wouldn't stand a snowball's chance against a Charizard's Flamethrower.

He smirked slightly as the girl studied her boots, then looked over at him. She gave him an odd look, then frowned slightly, batting at her purple bang. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she looked away, nodding absently as the Nurse joy went on about how helpful her grandmother was. Miken's smirk widened. Oh, so she was a grandmother's girl, eh? Grammy probably taught her to never fight. She had to have taught her something, since no grandmother would dress their own granddaughter like a goth.

"I'm not a goth."

Miken jumped slightly at the voice in his head. The girl was looking back at him and grinning. He stared at her. Did she....had....she...how could she?

"You're being paranoid, Mikey-boy," Miken muttered to himself, looking down at the ground and scowling slightly.

"No, Mikey-boy, you're right on target."

Miken clenched his fists at his sides. There was that voice again! He looked back to the girl, who was still grinning. She nodded slowly, then turned back to the Nurse Joy, who was now going on about herbal hair care products. This didn't seem to interest the girl, because she made excuses of a busy schedule and, bidding a good bye, turned and made her way to the doors, which Miken was relatively close to.

"Not such a stupid, newbie trainer anymore, I am?" she asked him quietly as she passed, smirking triumphantly. The doors swung open for her and she stepped outside. Miken stared after her, before sliding through the doors too, Fuse behind him.

"Oh yeah?" he called after her. She turned and looked hard at him, and for a moment, he could have sworn he saw her eyes flash to a light purple, but then they were back to their original bright green. "Prove it." Miken drew a pokeball, grinning. "What do you say, huh girly girl? How about a pokemon battle?"

Sammi raised her eye brows, but turned fully around, taking a pokeball from her belt.

"Yeah, sounds like a plan," she said, grinning right back.

The odd typo here and there, but its a good story. Characters are well developed and as long as you are carefull, the story should go well.

I'll go back and fix all of the typos once I finish the chapter. Thank you so much for your comment. ^_^
Chapter Three (name pending)

The two trainers walked out of Fortree to a clearing to the west, then stood on opposite sides. Miken took the liberty of stating the rules.

"No cheating," he said flatly. "It'll be a one on one match. Just one pokemon against one pokemon. Okay?"

Sammi smirked and nodded. "Just one? Sounds fine," she replied. She figured she could take out every pokemon this guy had with just Umbreon.

Funny thing was, Miken was thinking the same thing about Fuse.

"Alright, ready?" Miken said, glancing at the battle-ready Raichu. "I choose Fuse as my pokemon!"

"Rai!" Fuse let out a battle cry and leaped forward. Sammi looked indifferent

"Umbreon, take this rat out," she said arrogantly, with a tad more confidence then she actually had as she drew Umbreon's pokeball and released the dark pokemon onto the field. The pokemon came out, crouching slightly as his rings faded from silver to gold, to silver to gold, in a slow, eerie way.

Sammi knew her Sandshrew would have been a better choice, since he was unaffected by electrical attacks, but something told her Fuse could do more than that. Anyway, she trusted Umbreon to make the battle quick.

"Fuse, Thunderbolt!" Miken commanded. The pokemon responded by leaping into the air, balling it's small paws into fists and drawing electrical charge from it's cheeks.

"Chu!" Fuse's yellow cheeks let off a few sparks, before the entire pokemon was engulfed in crackling electricity, a bolt of which pointing and shooting straight at Umbreon.

"Tch, this is too easy," Sammi said. "Umbreon, you can side step that little spark. A big grin was plastered on the girl's face. Sammi was sure her first real pokemon battle during her travels would be a sure win.

But she may have thought too soon. While Umbreon did in fact move, his tail got caught by the bolt, and acted as a lightning rod. Umbreon took the full charge of the strong attack. Luckily, he too was strong, and though the attack severely weakened him, he stayed on his feet.

Sammi's grin melted into a scowl. No way was this battle going as well as she had led herself to believe. One move and her own lenience to the situation had nearly lost Umbreon, and the battle, before her pokemon could deliver a hit.

"Alright, Umbreon no more fun," she said, looking at her pokemon with apologetic violet eyes. "Time to n** this thing in the butt before it gets out of hand. Bite!"

Fuse had just landed back on the ground, but being the experienced pokemon he was, he was already charging up his energy for another attack. Umbreon came at him full force and Fuse leaped out of the way, only to have Umbreon easily turn and launch himself at the Raichu, mouth wide. Fuse had no time to move and could only cry out as Umbreon bit down hard on his arm. A good whack from the lightning bolt shaped tail disconnected the Umbreon, but left him unfazed.

Miken now wore a scowl identical to Sammi's. This stupid newbie was turning out to be more annoying than he thought.

"Fuse, Thunderbolt!" Miken commanded. The pokemon responded by leaping into teh air, balling it's small paws into fists and drawing electrical charge from it's cheeks.

"Chu!" Fuse's yellow cheecks let off a few sparks before the entire pokemon was engulfed in yellow, a single bolt shooting towards Umbreon.

"Tch, this is too easy," Sammi said. "Umbreon, you can side step that little spark!" A big grin was plastered on the girl's face. Sammi was sure her first pokemon battle during her travels would be a sure win.

But she may have tought too soon. While Umbreon did in fact move, his tail just got caught by the attack, and acted as a lightning rod. Umbreon got teh full blow of the strong attack. Luckily, he too was strong, and though the attack severely weakened him, he stayed on his feet.
It's rele good. I love how you described the characters a little more to give them a good backround!!
