Welcome to my second Gaian Art Contest. Ever. And I've been around for years. I held another oh, say, a few years back when I gave away the Angelic Minis for 1st Place when they were the same price as the Nitmare Scarf is now. That contest was a HUGE success, with many, many entries and I'm hoping this time around will be just as successful.

I think anyone that has their own personal original characters knows what I'm about to say; that my characters are all extensions of my soul, pieces of me in different ways. Thus the name of the contest. This time around I will have one of my own characters, my brother's character, and my boyfriend's character (all extensions of our souls somehow) open for your artistic abilities.

I really don't get on Gaia much anymore anyhow. Mostly to hoard Donation Items until they get really expensive so I can use them to get art. ^_^; I love receiving art of my characters as much as I love to draw them myself, and with no new art ocming in I thought it was about time to see what you artists are capable of nowadays.

Keep in mind that the prizes that are being given away are Donation Items, and will all go up in price when kept safe for a while. (How do you think I have all these expensive Donation Items to give away as prizes?) In any case, on with the contest!

I'm hoping there will be a wide range of characters to choose from so that everyone from human to furry artists will be able to draw. I've hosted contests in the past, so some characters might look familiar. But I'm rather excited to get new pieces of my Magelet character, along with helping my brother collect pics of his character, and my boyfriend with his.

Characters you'll be drawing:

NAME: Magelet (pronounced 'mayj-let')

Magelet is my character. I've had her for years as a roleplaying character and has evolved so many times to become what she is today; a raven-winged vampire.

Magelet is a female Gangrel Vampire (Gangrel being a clan in the RPG 'Vampire: the Masquerade', if that helps her characteristics any) so naturally, she has fangs. She stands about 5'9" and weighs about 180lbs of pure lithe vampire muscle. She's quite curvy, as female vampires can be, even with a smooth muscular build. Her hair is raven black and straight, and falls slightly past her shoulders. She has no bangs; just a straight part down the middle of her hair. Sometimes her hair is seen tucked securely behind her slighty pointed ears. Her eyes are quite literally golden yellow wolf's eyes. They shine a predatory silver in darkness. Natural black claw-like nails are found on both fingers and toes alike.

She's usually seen wearing a set of clothing for comfort and mobility during battles. Black skin-tight breeches are tucked into knee high, lace-up boots, and a red sleeveless top of sorts, usually laced halfway up the front and left open to show minimal cleavage. A black bat dagger is strapped to her left thigh. This dagger remains there no matter what outfit she is wearing. Of course she doesn't wear these clothes everyday; she can be drawn in other outfits, as long as her other physical features remain the same. She doesn't wear much jewelry; she believes it gets in the way or could be used against her in a fight. But when she does wear something of this nature, it's either a large, smooth, red ruby teardrop necklace, or a small silver pendant in the shape of a wolf's head. (If you do know what the Clan Gangrel symbol is, that's what the wolf's head pendant looks like.)

Of course Magelet's biggest, most IMPORTANT feature is her large, black-feathered wings. They are large in size (though they CANNOT be used in flight), and shimmer an emerald color in the light.

Magelet's personality may help in your drawing as well. She's seen as a silent but deadly type. She usually only speaks when spoken to. She has an attitude problem sometimes, snapping at people and cracking sarcastic comments. She'll fight whenever she gets the chance, and hand-to-hand combat is her favorite. Gangrels are shapeshifters, and Magelet is able to shapeshift into most predatory animals only. She's often seen running nude with a pack of wolves, or walking amongst the trees with her raven companion on her shoulder. You don't have to draw any animals if you don't want to, but usually it does add to her animalistic nature.

NAME: Drake Valos
(pronounced 'drayk vay-lows')

Drake is my brother's character. I personally don't have too large of a description for you since I myself do not roleplay this character. However, the visual referenses will most likely help you out the most.

Drake Valos is a black dragon close to 7' tall. He is one of few dragons to not carry magical powers. Or so it seems. He relies mainly on his trusty sword to aid him in battle. The sword itself is magical; draconic runes glow along the blade when Drake heads into battle. It's about 36"-40" long with golden dragon wings for the crossguard and a small dragon's head resting up onto the blade. Little is known about Drake's past, even to himself. Even his name was unknown, so he ended up naming himself. What he does remember is quite a bit, though. He has not only fought in many battles and wars for his own reasons, but he has also learned many techniques and skills from master swordsmen. He can get along fine with humans and other creatures, but he prefers to keep to himself.

NAME: Jaden Starwalker
(pronounced 'jay-den star-walker')

Jaden is my boyfriend's character. Again, I do not personally roleplay this character, thus the written description that he has given me is all I have to go from. So far I have no visuals except for the one here (it's his Neverwinter Nights character) until I get one drawn for him.

Jaden Starwalker is a male undead hunter, and a Prince of the Kingdom of Oasis. He is 6 feet 9 inches tall, and weighs about 295 pounds. Jaden is well built, pactically all very toned muscle. He has long, jet black hair that ends below his shoulders (No bangs). It is almost always tied back into a ponytail. Jaden's eyes are a steely greyish-blue, and he has no scars or other marks. His somehwat square jaw is always clean shaven as well.

He usually wears light to medium armor, mostly leather and chain mail, in black and purple (A habit held over from his royal background). Armor should afford as much protection as possible without restricting his movement, as he is quite agile for his size. Additionally, his armor is always perfect, everything exactly where it should be. Belt pouches (also black and/or purple) hold a variety of tools useful to his trade; holy water, stakes, etc. When not in armor he will usually wear loose fitting clothing in similar colors, black, white, purple. he may even let his hair down.

He sometimes wears his wife's wedding ring on a black leather cord around his neck, but more often keeps it hidden somewhere safe. In combat he wields two longswords, The Dragnamyst and the Deathbringer (see below). He also always carries a bludgeoning weapon of some kind, mace, warhammer, or morning star. It is a weapon of disruption, and would be surronded by an aura of some kind while held (Artistic license applies here).

The Dragnamyst is a longsword that is rumored to have been forged at the beginning of time itself. Myths say that the sword was forged by The Dragon Lord Bahamut to combat evil dragons, but during its creation was stolen and finished by Tiamat, making it equally dangerous to good dragons as well. The sword's power is rumored to grow with time, and it has been said it could slay a god. After its creation the sword disappeared for a period of many years. The sword blade is mithril silver, the hilt is covered in blue dragon scales, with a red ruby embedded centrally between the crossguards. At the end of each crossguard there is a small, white stone sculpted as a miniature dragon's tooth. The pommel is shaped as a five pointed star, except the top "arm" points straight down, while the other four curve towards it slightly. There is another red gem, diamond shaped, embedded into it. The Deathbringer is a longsword as well, and is particularly effective against undead. I have no preconceptions with this sword, so its design is up to you.

Jaden is a kind and very serious person. Born and raised as the first prince of Oasis, he was trained in all the minutae of royalty, and hated it. He very often was found dining with the captain of the Oasian guard rather than his family. He openly associated with commoners, peasant, nobility and royalty (Though he found the royals and nobles to be less interesting than the others). He even took a wife from common upbringing, leaving Osasis to spend his life with her in a small village. Jaden and Corin lived well, until she was lost in an attack on the village by a local vampire of great power. Jaden was since taken up the sword against undead, to avenge his wife and protect all beings from the vileness of undead. he hates all undead and those necromancers who create them. Oasis is an island, and as such Jaden is well trained in sailing, and would make a fine captain, though that is not what he wants to do with his life. His brother Kaden is very important to him, and they both regret the loss of their thrid brother, Aden. He spends as much time with Kaden as he can, and Kaden's carefree attitude has loosened him up somewhat over the years, but his personal mission is still clear: Find and destroy the vampire who killed his wife, and annihilate all undead along the way.

Have to hand it to ya, Leowen. I nor John (the boyfriend) expected a video. With the previews you had given of the characters, I merely thought it was going to turn out being a very large image or something. But a video! Very creative!

keiiii, I completely fell in love with the second piece you submitted with Magelet stading nude with her animal companions under the moon. Even John loved it, and it's not his character! I believe Mage hasn't been done enough in her 'natural' state, and I believe you pulled it off amazingly. It is currently my desktop wallpaper, and I feel it will be for quite some time. :3

Your watercolor skills are absolutely stunning, Akaisora. To have the skill to be able to color such beautiful and small details with this media is amazing. You don't often see a whole art piece done in this style much anymore. I have respect for ANYone who does art (how could you not, with such amazing talent!), but I especially respect fellow real media artists.

Funniest - Mad_King_Ludwig, just hilarious. All of us thought this one was so great; it definately shows our character's personalities in a humorous manner.

Sexiest - Phyona, I don't even know if you intended her to be sexy in this pic, but I think she turned out gorgeous; the way she's standing, her eyes and gaze.. all sexy.

Best Chibi - Ali_Moonlight, Your chibi Magelet was just so cute. Even through her cuteless she maintains her grumpy attitude!

Best Fight Scene - enchanted_blackrose, your first entry was great! It was a good action pose, very full of expression and movement.

Best Multiple Character Picture - DramaticaAwayII, though they were chibis, I still think that the picture you did with all 3 of our characters dancing cutely together was great!

Best Black and White - Rosewine, I realize you hadn't intended the picture to be entered as a black and white, I still think it looks amazing, your lines neat and clean. I love the raven and Magelet's wings!

Most Realistic - Arii, the lighting, skin tone, even hair and facial features looked the most realistic! The lighting in this pic is what especially drew me to it! Very dramatic pose... not sure if you intended it to be realistic or not ^^; But it sure looks pretty realistic to me.

Best Pixel Art - I don't believe there were no pixil art entries. ;_; But that's okay, all the other medias I did recieve, I absolutely adore.
