OFFICIAL THREAD FOR THE BAND:
PENICILLIN
If you are new to PENICILLIN, here's some brief information on the band:
PENICILLIN was officially formed on February 14, 1992 (Valentine's Day!! heart ), with O-Jiro on drums, Gisho on bass, Chisato on guitar, and Hakuei on vocals. Original line-up was Gisho on vocals, O-Jiro on Bass, and Chisato on guitar before Hakuei joined them. They have released at least one album each year and have gained many fans not only in Japan, but throughout Asia.
According to various information, which may or may not be accurate, the band members have known each other since high school and have all graduated from Tokai University. Afterwards, they started Penicillin as an indies band and once they went major under their record label: TearsMusic, they changed their name slightly, making it all capitalized (Penicillin - PENICILLIN). Their first album was "Missing Link", which is considered one of their best albums by many fans. As each year passed, the band continued to create even better ones, their latest being "Kakkaku" released last October (2003) and just recently, have their new cd "Flower Circus" expected to come out October 20th, 2004.
The members of PENICILLIN have also done side projects/solo works. Gisho has made a few albums going by the name "Ohtaki Jun", Chisato works in his band Crack6, O-Jiro works with Yasumi-chan in 808, and Hakuei has had a few solo albums and has also formed a duo band with Kiyoshi called machine, who is known to produce some of their music (including Hakuei's solo album "Angel Trip" & "Samurai" wink and is also well-known for being in Spread Beaver with the late hide.
Their music is varied and it may take some time to get used to Hakuei's vocals, but once you realize how well Hakuei's voice fits with the music, you will discover how great PENICILLIN really is. 3nodding -cj
