~ A Guide to Mousethings
Mousethings : classified as a rodent, they're omnivorous (they eat both plant and meat), and have a long lifespan, ranging from fifteen to twenty years with rumors of some being as old as fifty without missing a beat.
With soft coats of fur, they make one of the perfect snuggle pets, especially since they can grow to be the size of a regular housecat. Their colors can come in a variety of different shades, as well as markings, and more. They're unlimited rainbow collection of furry fun!
Aside from their miraculous colors, a Mousething is most noticable for other features such as the different mutations they can take on. Some of the more common ones are the different breed ears: one breed has pointed ears and the other has rounded. While neither shape affects a Mousething's hearing, some people find the round ears make them look more like a rodent and the pointed like a fox. They are also known for their long tails, which are full of muscles that allow them to be extremely prehensile at times, as well as strong (enough to support their weight if they wished!).
There is very little difference between the sexes. Both sexes, oddly enough, comes with their own pouch and are used for carrying young. A mated pair will take turns watching their young, switching them from pouch to pouch depending on who is staying in the next. Their pouches aren't just for carrying their babies though; some Mousethings have been recorded to be holding food and stolen items inside these pouches! A male is generally larger than a female and bulkier in his size, whereas the female, not only smaller, is also slightly more slender but appears to be a little chubby too.
Mousethings grow fairly quickly, taking a little under a month to attain their full adult form. They are born inside their mother's pouch and, after some incubation time, are finally removed to be sold off by breeders inside a blanket warmer bundle that they use as their own nesting place. This bundle, when received, is suggested to be placed inside of a cubby hole or something of that suggestion for the baby Mousething (known as a
kit by breeders) to get to know its new surroundings. After a few days, it will eventually emerge on its own to greet the new world.
This is the time when they are most vulnerable, meaning it's best to keep them safe and an eye on them as well. This is also when their personality begins to really develop, which depends on who they interact with, which includes you, the owner. As babies, they are incredibly small, about the size of a person's hand, then when they emerge as older kids, they are about the size of a kitten, and will finally reach their full adult size. There are rumors though of a mutation called
Teacup Mousethings though there's no proven documentation as of yet.
Each Mousething is unique, not only in its appearence but also in its personality. They are an incredibly intelligent creature with the ability to learn how to speak to Humans, and some times with other creatures if they interact with them enough. They are fairly active during the night though they can be trained to be more active during the day hours. They are also extremely emotional ane empathetic to those around them, which includes primarily close knit family (mates and children) and their owners. Their moods can change within a moment's notice because of what goes on around them. They are also extremely social so it's good to expose them to others as well as buy more than one.
There are only two documented types of Mousethings: Normal and Demon. More and more are constantly being discovered though it takes awhile for them to reach us here in Gaia!
