    About the World

The world is a dangerous place. It is inhabited by animals known as 'pokemon' The origins of these creatures are unknown although popular theories place their origins somewhere in outer space or - a more common theory - simple evolutions of the regular earth animals.

Just like real animals, pokemon can be DANGEROUS. It is vital to realise that when you are hit by a flamethrower attack, you will be severely burned. If you are hit by a water gun, you will have a broken bone. If you are tackled, you are at LEAST bruised. If you are the victim of a Bite attack, you will have a flesh wound. Attacked by a Razor Leaf attack and you WILL be severely cut. It is vital you understand that pokemon can (and sometimes WILL) kill you.

Now, while the pokemon living around human-inhabited areas are usually a lot friendlier and more docile than their wild counterparts, it is always wise to exert caution. When wandering around into pokemon-only areas, it is strongly advised you bring a pokemon of a high level with you. Signs will be placed around the entrances of dangerous areas although it is known that a particular colony of wild Meowth in Sandalwood Forest destroys these signs as soon as they are set up. This is why you should keep your TRAINERS GUIDE with you at all times and check it as often as possible!

It is very unwise to go out into the wild without a pokemon of your own and thus there are several parties that escort people for free to their place of destination: The Pokemon Rangers (TPR) and the Pokemon Escort Service (PES). For a small fee, these people will catch a pokemon for you in the wild, which will enable you to travel the world by yourself. Of course there are other possibilities of attaining pokemon. These will be explored more in-depth at a later place.

One last note: Esperalda is a VERY large continent with cities on large distances of each other. If you are travelling by foot, it will take you several weeks to travel between cities. Naturally, small cabins are placed every ten miles which you can use to rest. Always make sure you have plenty of food and water and (preferably) a tent as well! Please pay close attention to the route signs and your Trainer's Guide, as they will have travelling time and pokemon area information posted on them.

Of course there are other ways to travel than just by walking! There is always the bike, helicopter, bus, hoovercrafts, and several pokemon transportation organisation (PTO). And of course you can always ride or fly on your own pokemon!

Esperelda is a large place and not every area has been thoroughly mapped and is known. Have fun exploring!

    Love, Sakura.

    Rules

    League Conduct

  • Don't steal the art, concept or anything else.
  • No begging.
  • No whining.
  • Be polite to everyone.
  • Please speak English, or at least some other language.
  • Please make an attempt at good grammar and puncuation.
  • Roleplaying is not required. However, you can only catch pokemon in the wild by RPing. Pokemon will only evolve if they are RPed and breeding can only happen with... (dun dun) ... roleplay! =P
  • Listen to Teigra and the shop staff.

  • Battle Conduct

  • You may only have 10 random encounters a day.
  • You may only use moves your Pokemon knows.
  • You may not strive to cheat in any way.
  • Should you willingly engage in some form of cheating, punitive action will be taken against you.

  • Pokemon Rules

  • There is no limit on the number of pokemon you own.
  • However, at any given time, you can only carry six pokemon with you. Any extra pokemon you catch will be sent to storage system automatically. To withdraw these pokemon you MUST use the storage transfer system which is availabe at all pokecenters and the larger poke habitats.
  • There is no limit on the amount of moves your pokemon can learn. (Whoever came up with the idea of pokemon only remembering four movies -- UGH!)

  • Sale Rules

  • Only trainers without any Pokemon or with a PES Pokemon may buy from a flatsale.
  • In auctions you may not edit or retract your bid.
  • Bid only what you have.
  • You may not discourage other bidders, or cheer for any bidders.
  • You may purchase a Pokemon for another trainer, but if it is purchased from a flatsale they may not own any other Pokemon.

    F.A.Q.

  • How much do these cost?
A: Flatsale: 3000 gold; PES: 2000 gold; Raffles: 100 gold per ticket; Customs: See custom post; Auctions: Varying. x3

  • Is it okay to venture into areas with wild Pokemon with the intention of fighting them yourself? As in, not Pokemon-to-Pokemon, but like actually fighting them. I don't intend to actually have my character come out of it unharmed, or even win, but I wanna know if there's gonna be IC authorities keeping my characters from wandering out alone.
A: Can't imagine someone crazy enough to do that. Hehe. *cough* But yeah, there'll be some repercussions. It'll count as animal abuse, for one. (Strange how that works, huh? ;D) and thus they will make effort to try and track down the person that does it.
As for forcing you to stay in towns and be escorted.... no, they don't do that, but they highly, VERY highly recommend you not going out by yourself. But they won't stop you. And probably take mental note of you, even if just to remember watching the news and hearing something about a corpse found. (Morbid... sorry. )
And, there's usually one or two pokerangers stationed at the exit of each town, advising people that are leaving without pokemon to go back and get one of them to escort them. ^^

  • Can my character have multiple jobs?
    A: Yes, within reason.

  • What happens when my pokemon faints?
A: Nothing. You just should get to the Pokecenter as soon as possible because you'll be vulnerable to enemy attack. However, if you're fighting a wild pokemon and you want to capture it, it will run as soon as your pokemon faints.

  • What's my pokemon recovery rate?
A: Please check any of the PokeCenters in the guildthreads. They list how long a pokemon IN REAL TIME will be out before they will be able to resume the game.

  • Can I have multiple characters?
A: Yes you can. However, there are a few restrictions:
You may only have ONE starter pokemon per account/user/you. So, you can create ten different trainers, but you will only ever be eligible for one starter. It's up to you to decide which character'll get it.
BUT, you may get one PES pokemon per CHARACTER. So if you have ten characters, they may all have one PES pokemon. (See Page 3.2 on what the heck PES is.)

  • So it's okay for us to PM you?
A: Yep. As long as its for questions and shop-related stuff. And as long as it's just the mule you're PMing. ^___^

  • Ah, I'm having trouble with my concept. Will you critique it?
A: We'd be more than happy to. Just let us know either by PM or by posting in the thread. We read everything. ;D

  • Do you do pettrades?
A: Yes.... but there's a catch! Once a month, we will open up pettrades for several days. During these days, you may submit your pettrade requests. Once the submissions are closed, we will pick out one or two trades. The rest of you'll have to try again next time.

  • Why are flatsales newbie only?
A: Flatsales are for starter Pokemon. You can only get one starter Pokemon.

  • How do I get Pokemon after I've gotten one from a flatsale?
A: You can win aucitons, raffles, other events or venture out into the wilds and encounter wild Pokemon.

  • How do I catch a wild Pokemon?
A: You'll need a Pokeball of some sort, at the very least. It is recomended that you lower it's health first, but that's all up to you. For more details, see Page 3.

  • Can I RP catching a pokemon and then wander off to never return again?
A: Yes. Roleplaying is not required. However, if you want any breedings, evolutions or fun plot stuff to happen you will have to RP.

  • Do I direct link?
A: In your ID file, yes. If you would to display your Pokemon in your sig, please host your own image. Our photobucket has so many images in it, it would die regularly if everyone used it's bandwidth.

  • How do I get my trainer ID number?
A: Your trainer ID number is Gaia account number. View your profile, and the number at the end of the url is your trainer ID number.

  • How do I get my Pokemon certed?
A: It needs to be posted in the capture report thread in the guild.

    Sakura's Journal

March 11 - Well, the League grand opening event is finally wrapping up. What a party it was! If this event was any indication of how sucessful the League will be, I'm more than pleased.

Next I'm heading off to Tansy Town for the opening of the Aqua Casino, and to pop in to the university.

    How to Obtain a Pokemon

    Flatsale

Most trainers recieve their first Pokemon from a flatsale. The pokemon sold in a flatsale are randomised each time so there never is a pattern on which ones are sold. Randomness! ;D
Flatsales are restricted to trainers WITHOUT a starter pokemon. This goes not per IC character, but per OOC user. So if you play two different characters, you may only ever get ONE flatsale pokemon.

    PES Pokemon

If at the time you want to join there are no sales or events going on, then don't worry! There now is the PES: The Pokemon Escort Service will capture a pokemon for you, for a fee of only 2k. However; these pokemon are NOT uniquely colored. Hence the cheap price.
Every character can have only ONE PES pokemon. So even if you play multiple character, all of them can individually own a PES.

    Auction

Auctions are open to all trainers - both new and old. The often offer rare Pokemon that arne't usually found in Esperelda.

    Events

There are many events in Esperelda, both for new and old trainers. Be sure to check each citiy's message board for any up coming events.

    The Wild

The most common way for trainers to add another Pokemon to their team is by capturing it. Each route boasts a different set of Pokemon, so get out there and get exploring !

    Breeding

Many trainers find it well worth their while to breed their Pokemon. This can create much stronger offspring with different move combination than their parents.

    Starter Sales

"Oh, hello, hello! It's good to see you could make it!" Sakura smiles brightly at you as she motions you further into the room.

"These are are latest starters. You are one of the few lucky ones that get to have one of our specially bred starter pokemon. They will listen obediantly to you and are of higher level than they would have when caught in the wild."

Sakura smiles proudly as she gestures towards several of the pokeballs laying on the table.

"Each one of these contains a unique pokemon. Consider carefully which one you want, because you will only get one starter from me."

    Starter Sets
All starters will be rotated. There is no set amount of pokemon that will be presented each time.

    User Image
This set will be sold - Thursday March 22, 4pm PST (3k each)

A man of around thirty years stands near the door, looking slightly nervous.

"Ah. Good afternoon. I am professor Palm. I- er... I am in charge of... um... catalogueing rare pokemon. Whenever trainers or - ah - my assistents find a rare pokemon, whether it is a rare species or with rare markings, they will bring it here for - er.... study. They, of course, need - um - trainers.... to look after them.... Yes...."

    Other Events

A young man, appearing to be in his late twenties, leans casually against the doorpost. He smiles a blindingly white smile at you as he lazily raises his hand.

"Yo. I'm professor Buckthorn. Usually this would be Sakura or Palm's job, but since they're busy and all that, I'll do the intro. I'm talking, of course, about the various events there are for you to obtain a pokemon that ain't a starter or a rare type, yo."

    Catching Contests
In this, the contest administration borrows a pokemon to you and sets you and the other contestsants out in a restricted area, you have thirty minutes to catch a pokemon. After that, all pokemon are judged and the top three best pokemon may be kept by the trainer. The other ones have to be released back into the wild. (And the borrowed pokemon returned).

    Raffles
A shiny pokemon, or a starter, yo.

    RP Contests
The one to RP out the prompt the best, will get the pokemon, yo.

    Give-aways
    Incentives for thread bumpers, yo.
