Story

Humans have been taking demons from the forest using special powders to temporarily drain the demons of their powers. Eventually, the humans managed to get enough demons to send them out into the forest to obtain their own kind.

The humans mainly captured male demons first so they could be used to capture female demons more easily, not to mention there probably wouldn't be a male to help protect the female. The humans want the demons so they can create new breeds. They eventually wind up with elemental-animal combinations.

The humans control the demons using special unbreakable shock collars. If anyone tried to take a demon's collar off, the collar would turn red until they enter the ranch. Guards at the entrance ensured the demons with red collars could not enter unless acompanied by someone. None captured have ever successfully escaped. If the demon did not return within a set amoujnt of time, the collar would shock them until the demon returned to the ranch or suffer a very painful death.

If a demon captured was marked by someone else (its mate), other demons were sent out in search of the demon's mate. The humans do not trust the mate enough to allow him/her to look for their own mate.

Every now and then, the humans would acompany the search party so they could use their powders. They used the demons to find scents of other demons.

Some humans opposed to the ranch would try to help the captured demons, others who were for the ranch would help capture demons, and still others were on neither side. Some free demons would hide until they were found and fight to stay free. Unfortunately, staying free meant taking lives, for the demons with collars tried to capture others to stay alive as well. Other demons hid until they were found and went with them without a fight, too concerned for ther others' lives. ((Very few under this catagory)) Some people consider the demons chasing a game. The rest seek other demons out to fight and free the others from their suffering or for their oun enjoyment.

Obtained clothes by stealing them.

Kei sits conceled in a tall pine tree. Her ebony hair is tied back with a black silk ribbon to keep it off her face. Her claws dig into the branch as the wind makes the tree sway. She is wearing a simple pure black sleevless shirt with black cargo pants. Around her waist are three black belts that crisscross each other crookedly. She watches silently as another unsuspecting human walks several hundred feet below her. Her crimson eyes flick up as she hears the chattering of a finch. Her silky black ears are tipped toward the ground to hear the sounds the human is making. She looks back down quickly as she hears a branch snap. She changes position so that she is crouching instead, her soft black tail brushing agaisnt her ankels. "The kitsune came this way.", says one human that is at the base of the tree. "Are you sure? We've been walking this way for an hour.", answers the one that went by before. "I'm sure it came this way, but it might have angled off.", says the first, reluctantly. Kei's sensitive ears pick up the others disgusted groan and stomping footsteps as he comes back into sight. "This one is out. Let's see how the other's faired going after the other that was with her.", he says as he walks past the first human. The first nods and follows behind him. *Kai... I hope he's okay.*, Kei thinks as she is reminded of her brother who she had left behind when he suggested splitting up.

Kei's ears flick as she hears noises aways in the forest. After a few minuets of debating she decides to investigate. It might be Kai. She hops silently through the trees, not even a leaf disturbed by her passage. She quickly reaches the general area and slows to a crawl.

Jaquelyn ran flat out across the meadow, jumping sideways, crouching, and sliding to avoid arrow tipped with the power stealing powder. Her ambergolden eyes were shining with the thrill of the chase, her long white hair, waist length even though it was bound with a black ribbon, flowing behind her like a banner.

"Trap her at the cliff!" a human, far behind her, shouted. 'Heh, idiots.' she said, as she put on a new burst of speed, her long legs a blur as they flew through the grass, so fast they didn't even seem to touch the ground.

Ahead of her was a cliff drop off. The gap was far too wide even for her to jump, but that wasn't what she had in mind. She jumped quickly to the side to avoid another arrow, and the already long sharp black nails of her left hand lengthening to claws, and she whirled around while running, her nails tearing through the shaft of yet another arrow, before she continued running.

When she reached the cliff, she didn't slow. With a cry of "Suckers!" she dove over the edge. Her black clothes- a halter top and low riding pants- melted into her skin as fur the color of her hair sprouted all over her body. Her sword disappeeared, as well as her bow, and the black rose that had been stuck in her hair. Her fangs lengthened and sharpened as her head became that of a wolf. Lastly, a pair of ebony black wings sprouted from her now wolf body, and she flapped them once, twice, and she rose high into the air, above the astonished humans.

She wheeled about in the air, shooting past them overhead, even faster than she had been running. She was past them before they could react, and she howeled the joy of freedom to the deep blue sky above her. She spotted a kitsune hiding from a group of humans, some miles later, the other humans far far behind now.

When the humans had left the tree in which the Kitsune hid, Lae swooped down to the branch on which the kitsune was crouched. 'Need a lift?' Lae Asked, through her mind. She landed on the branch, offering her back to the kitsune, her wings still stretched wide for a quick takeoff.
