Pennas are a small subspecies of gryphons. Instead of having the stereotypical four legs, they only have two and are more bird like than feline like, save for their legs which are the representation of a feline. At the moment there have only been three species in existence, or that we've discovered:
Species
Owl Pennas are the largest of the three with a height of a foot to a foot and a half, and a wing span as large as four feet. The females are generally larger than the males and far more dangerous and riley to handle. Despite that the Owl Pennas are the wilder of the three species, when handled from birth by humans, they can be the most excellent companion.
They are predators in the wild, and remain so even in captivity. They have been known to attack smaller household pets, as well as fellow Owl Pennas and even the other two species. As a pet, Owls are great use in hunting, and if you want to go and be a little bad, as thieves due to their stealth. They are remarkably intelligent, and extremely loyal.

Cockatoo Pennas are the second largest, normally. They can range in a variety of heights from as small as five inches to as tall as a foot, as well as colors. They are well known for their ability to mimic and are the only Pennas that have this ability. They cannot hold intelligent conversations with their owners, but can be taught basic commands like you would to a dog. This ability makes them extremely loud and irritating though, especially around dusk and dawn when they are most active.
Cockatoos are herbivores, and usually eat fruits, nuts, and insects and sometimes can be given special treats but only if they've been approved by management. They have sensitive digestive systems and they can get very ill if given the wrong type of food.

Sparrow Pennas are the smallest of the Pennas. They can only grow to maybe eight inches in height, the smallest having been recorded at about four. This gives them a severe disadvantage in the wild, and are often found to be the prey of Owls, even in captivity this is possible so keep a close eye on them.
Sparrows are very hyperactive, and can be quite the handful. They love to sing but that doesn't make them very good at it. As far as intelligence goes, they are mediocre and can be taught how to come to their owner on a simple command, but that's pretty much it. A dedicated owner however can possibly teach them more.
Sparrows eat insects a good majority of the time, but will occassionally feast upon worms, nuts, and fruits if the occassion calls for it.

Lifespan

Laying the Eggs -- The mother Penna usually spends three to five days laying her eggs. During this time she sits on them, keeping them warm and will need help from both her mate and her owner to keep her healthy and fit. Towards the last of the days, when she has completed nesting, she may start to depart every so often, leaving the eggs vulnerable and under your watch, as well as the breeder's. The breeder will let you know when it's time to distribute the eggs and will do so.
Hatching -- After you've received your egg, you will need to wait another three to five days for it to hatch. It still requires warmth, which is why it sits in the nest of leaves and feathers. It's recommended you not remove it for the sake of the infant still maturing inside. You can, however, wrap a sweater or other articles of clothing around it to help keep it warm. Doing this can also help it to mature faster, and the more time you spend with it, the faster it comes out. Your egg will be ready to hatch when the leaves and feathers wrap around it and it begins to glow. At this point you have to return to the main office or to the breeding office to witness the miracle.
Chick to Young Adult -- Your Penna remains a chick for two weeks before maturing into an adult. Again, the more care you give it the faster it can grow, but it will not take less than one week. At this stage they are relatively weak and cannot fly too well, but will practice the use of their wings and therefore must be watched.
Young Adult -- At this point the Pennas have begun learning how to fly just a few days after full maturation, and are able to hunt on their own and hopefully defend themselves. As young adults this is the best time to teach them how to do tricks, among other things.

The Avaji are best known as the cute and cuddly sidekicks. They were first discovered high in the mountains and were slowly taken down to adjust to the difference in the elevations before being publically put on the market. They were named for the rather soft fur of their coat, which is known as "Ji" on the black market. You can read more about this in the story section.

<center>Anatomy</center>
Avaji are very mouse like in appearence but are more closely related to rabbits than anything else. They have strong hindlegs which are made specifically for bouncing, an ability they use to get away from their enemies. They tend to run around on all fours though as well, and will usually sit up on their hindlegs to view the area around them. Their especially long tails are not so prehensile and are somewhat stiff so as to provide balance during leaps.
The female Avaji have two antennae that stick out of their head, which are extremely sensitive to touch and change in their environment. These antennae act as feelings which can also be used to investigate objects more closely. As adults the females have a mane on the backs of their necks.
Adult male Avaji have a pair of horns rather than antennae. These are used to attract mates; the bigger and more elaborate the color of the horn, the better seed he would be able to produce. The horns are also used for fighting as Avaji live in colonies and the strongest of the males leads them. Unfortunately, these horns have no other use than what has already been listed and can be considered somewhat useless overall.

<center>Social Living</center>
As extremely social creatures, Avaji tend to live, in the wild, in groups - known as clusters - of up to forty with normally a minimum of five to ten. These clusters do not seem to have a heirarchy and no Avaji answers to another; things such as betrayal do not exist in the world of Avaji as there is no sense of good verus evil.
However each Avaji is required to watch out for one another. In the clusters the mothers will all take care of their own young and the males will generally ward off predators despite that they are on the lower end of the food chain. As a whole though all Avaji will keep an eye out for one another and always come to a fallen comrade's aid.

What are the rules for them?
- Each colorist / breeder has their own rules and regulations, as well as prices for ordering customs. You can read more about them down further.

How do they breed?
- Go look at the breeding faq, and the thread made specially for breeding.

Do you do pet trades?
- Yes, we do, but it all depends on what each colorist wants. They are not obligated to pet trade if they do not wish to.

Will you let me know when eggs are available?
- No, it's your own responsibility to be here and to be aware of what's going on. We may have a mailing list but that's not a for sure thing.

Can we co-own?
- No, and for the following reasons:
1. Personality problems. One owner might want to play the character one way and the other owner may want to play it another way.
2. One owner will only show up while the other doesn't, which defeats the purpose of co-owning.

Sometime in the future, and under special cases, we'll allow co-owning but for right now, there's no need to. You can allow others to RP the pet, if you want though.

What other pets can we RP here?
- I would rather you not roleplay pets that are not on this list.

- It all depends. Clutches can number from one to four eggs, and in some very rare cases, six. If you are the owner of both Pennas, it's rare to get more than one, or even two. If it's two owners, there's a guarantee that you will get two eggs.

What can I do with my egg(s)?
- You can either keep your egg(s), auction them, raffle them, or give them away. Or you can give them back to the Aviary and let us do something with them.

How much can I sell my egg for?
- Read in the selling FAQ.

Can they cross breed?
- No. Pennas cannot cross breed right now.

Why is my female Penna sitting on a nest?
- This means that she is currently laying her eggs and / or keeping them warm. It's important that you don't disturbe her.

Where did my female Penna go?!
- She may have abandoned the nest! So, what you need to do is return to the breeding center and ask the breeder of your Penna to ask for help in caring for the nest until Mommy returns.

How to Buy
<center>How to Buy an Avaji
From a Flat Sale</center>
1. First off, DO NOT ask about when flat sales are. This gets annoying -- they are all entirely random.
2. Wait for the sale to go up and be sure that it is a sale. It may be a colorist just asking for an opinion, or providing a sneak peak.
3. Follow the rules -- they don't have to directly sell it, but may want you want to do something in order to get it.
4. Post that you want it, and wait for confirmation that you got it.
5. Send the trade to the colorist and provide a name for your Avaji on the thread, or let the colorist know and have them PM Toushin.
<center>From a Raffle</center>
1. First, follow all the rules on this raffle rules portion and also any extra ones provided on the raffle page.
2. Be prepared to lose -- others are entering and do not dissuade them from doing so.
3. Don't fight. If you lose, you lose.
4. None of these are rigged so drop it.
<center>From an Auction</center>
1. Follow all the rules provided.
2. Do not fight within the auction.
3. Do not discourage others from bidding. This is a free for all unless stated otherwise.
4. Do not bid more than you have. Basically, don't bite off more than you can chew because you might be stuck having to pay that amount.
5. No editting of posts and no taking back bids without good reason.
6. No proxy bidding!

Selling Avaji
<center>Selling Avaji
All sales must first be reported to Toushin and be confirmed by him before being allowed to participate.
In a Flat Sale</center>
1. If it is a baby Avaji, you must flat sale it at 1K; no more, and no less unless otherwise stated.
2. If it is an adult Avaji, you must sell it at the price that you bought it for; no more, and no less. If it was an Avaji you won in an auction you will sell it for the starting price. Names cannot be changed.
3. 50% of the sale must return to Toushin.
<center>In a Raffle</center>
1. State rules carefully. This includes starting time, ending time, how many slots are available, how many times a person can enter, and how much a ticket is.
2. Be present for the start and end of your raffle.
3. Use randomizer.org!
4. Don't be cruel to those entering.
5. Notify Toushin of the winner and the name for their Avaji.
6. 25% of the raffle's earnings must return to Toushin if it is an adult, and 25% must return to Toushin if it's a baby, and the other 25% to the colorist.

<center>In an Auction</center>
1. State rules carefully. This includes starting time, ending time, starting bid, whether or not joint bidding is allowed, and an autobuy if you wish to have one. Items are allowed but only a max of two; either these can be by Toushin's wishlist or yours.
2. Be present for the start and ending of the auction. Also keep an eye on it and handle any fights that might erupt.
3. Do not show favoritism!
4. Do not be rude to those who are entering.
5. 50% of the auction's winnings must return to Toushin.

FAQ-type thing :

How much custom spots will you take a month ?
- Only 4 Maybe more if im bored... But I will mostly stick to 4. I will mention it in-thread if I open more spots.

How long will I have to wait ?
- It could take as little as a few hours, to up to 2 or 3 days. Depending on how much stages, the coloring complexity, and how busy I am at the time.

Restrictions ?
Afraid yes, they are. No natural markings. So I can't do say... a panda penna. Those will probabely be special options. Also, nothing to neon or trippy rainbowish stuff. Why ? *points up* Big boss Tou said so. So. o_O Oh yeah, you can't commission rare species either. You can only get them trough auctions and breedings. That mean you can't commission an hawk, sorry.

Then post in the thread, send me the trade of the correct amount, and pm me with the details. The most desriptive the better, and if you can provide a visual exemple then, by all mean, please do. I am extremely visual : I tend to understand better with pictures. If I have any questions, I will pm you back and ask. After I get everything I need, I will confirm your trade back, and your penna will be on its way. heart

FAQ's
How do I get a custom?
First you have to look at whether I am currently taking them or not. *points to the "currently" sign* Then look at the list and see if there is an open spot, if so drop me a PM (with the description of the penna) and I will put you on.

When do I send you the money?
It'd be apprieciated if you send the money with that first PM. I will accept when I'm done and we have decided that you are happy with the final product.

What can I change exactly?
Well, techniqually, you can't "change" anything. You can choose the color (and markings), species, and gender. You cannot choose to alter the lineart in anyway.

When are you going to be finished? Huh, huh, huh??
Well, I try to take my time on them and be happy with the final before actually sending you a PM. But it varies. I could be done within the hour to a couple of days. The main thing is don't bug me. ^_~

Do you do pet trades?
Yes I do, but it depends on the pet. I am currently seeking a Puri, so if you offered one of those, you could DEFINITELY get a custom.

Of course I love most pets and will be willing to trade. Just tell me what the pet is and if it's new, please send me a sample picture. If I happen to say "no" to a pet trade, don't feel offended in anyway. I am very picky.
